Precipitant Samsara is, unquestionably, an offensive alchemy. While it is surprisingly versatile for a type transmutation that seems so narrow in scope (it concerns only transmutation into hydrogen sulfide) all of its applications are destructive in effect, if not necessarily nature. The inevitable downside being that is an extremely detail-oriented type of alchemy. Precipitant Samsara’s effects will vary heavily according to the environment of what is being transmuted, with the potential of backfiring savagely if Tamerlane uses it without precise knowledge of what and where he’s transmuting. The possibility of failing to have any effect ever looms should he be too reckless in its use or, even worse, of a Rebound.

There are, of course weak points to his alchemy’s application. He has not so far managed to shift hydrogen sulfide through states: meaning that since hydrogen sulfide is a gas, he must be using a gas as his base. There are also stark environmental limitations to its use on the battlefield: windy conditions make it impossible to use, rain complicates it to the level of uselessness and since he doesn’t control the gas once it has been transmuted into being, there’s always the risk that explosion will be sparked by someone else instead. As a heavily detail-oriented (it takes into consideration air composition, or blood, or matter) alchemy, Precipitant Samsara is hard to adapt to unexpected situations on the fly: solid hours of study must be logged in for even the slightest of modifications.

Precipitant Samsara's application is the transmutation of oxygen into hydrogen sulfide (H2O), a gas that is poisonous, corrosive, flammable and explosive. When present in the bloodstream, it will cause incapacitation or death according to the dosage – it is, however, ever a delicate operation to transmute oxygen being carried by blood cells. It took Tamerlane years of anatomical studies before he could safely attempt it, and that was purely for human targets. Trying to do the same in a chimera, whose blood compositions vary greatly, would be a recipe for disaster. At the moment it still requires direct contact of the transmutation circle with the target’s skin for Tamerlane to be able to use it: it’s the main reason he had one tattooed into the palm of his hand.

Converting the oxygen part of ambient air into hydrogen sulfide is less outright dangerous, but it does carry its own set of disadvantages. For one, the gas is heavier than air and exudes the very distinct smell of rotten eggs: people familiar with his abilities or the gas itself will know they’re being targeted far before he ever put a bullet in the cloud to set off an explosion. Range is also somewhat of an issue, since the farther away the oxygen being transmuted is the harder it will be to do so. At the moment the furthest he can manage is twenty meters, though that might change in the future.
