...........................................................................

BRIEFING:
→ With a 14-inch barrel and the grip and forearm carved in walnut, it is reminiscent of a dagger in its scabbard. The only visible mechanical parts are the trigger and the hammer, with neither a cylinder nor a slide on the simple exterior, making it similar to the percussion pistols used in the last hours of the Middle Ages. The Contender was developed in 1967 by American company Thompson/Center Arms. It is a break-open single-shot pistol meant for sport shooting. Simple yet powerful, the weapon can, with little modification, be used to shoot various ammunition ranging from .22 LR to rifle bullets. The lack of complex parts between the barrel and trigger allows for high accuracy. Vito's 14-inch model is 444mm and 1700g, with his modifications bringing the total weight to 2060g. It is customized with a rifled barrel fitted for .30-06 Springfield bullets, and a special firing pin - plus modified to fire "magic bullets". The .30-06 rifle bullet was chosen for its raw firepower, being 10% stronger than the .308 Winchester rifle bullet and surpassing even 'hand-cannon' Magnum bullets.

→ A derringer is generally the smallest usable handgun of a given caliber. They were frequently used by women, because they are easily concealable in a purse or as a stocking gun. Such weapons designed specifically for women were called "muff pistols", due to their compact size enabling them to be carried in a muff. Derringers are not repeating firearms—repeating mechanisms such as used on semi-automatic handguns or revolvers would add significant bulk to the gun, defeating the purpose. The original cartridge derringers held only a single round, usually a pinfire or rimfire .40 caliber cartridge, with the barrel pivoted sideways on the frame to allow access to the breech for reloading. The famous Remington derringer design doubled the capacity, while maintaining the compact size, by adding a second barrel on top of the first and pivoting the barrels upwards to reload. Each barrel then held one round, and a cam on the hammer alternated between top and bottom barrels. The Remington derringer was in .41 Rimfire caliber and achieved wide popularity. The .41 Rimfire bullet moved very slowly, at about 425 feet per second (a modern .45 ACP travels at 850 feet per second). It could be seen in flight, but at very close range, such as at a casino or saloon card table, it could easily kill.

Vito's specific Derringer allows him to alternate it between 4 rounds, making it slightly heavier. The rounds held are also fired at a higher velocity, giving more of a range - approximately 748 feet per second. He carries thirty of these on his person in the heavy coat on his body, firing them and throwing them away.

→ The Claves Negro, or "Black Keys", are a specially-designed set of swords that Vito and an old Amestrian friend/rival of his, Krieger, trained together with while using. Specifically designed to be thrown as opposed to used as actual swords, the Claves Negro are long, slim and light, though if thrown with enough force they can penetrate into concrete. Vito is capable of this, though only if he's not wearing his Derringers and the coat that comes with them. The Claves Negro are usually carried on his hips, and he has six of these at any given time, holding and throwing three from each hand.

The Séptimo Santa Escritura, "Seventh Holy Scripture", is a weapon designed for use by Vito in battle. This weapon, unlike the rest of his, is not meant to be used for killing ruthlessly, though it can be used as such. It is a hydraulically-driven piledriver; pistons within the large mechanism allow it to send enough force into the main shaft to be able to crack concrete with relative ease. Enough presses with this hydraulically-driven steel shaft will shatter most walls and foundations. On a human, this can be particularly dangerous, breaking through flesh and snapping bone rather easily. It is designed for breaking down obstacles, be they natural, man-made, or Alchemically-built. Because of the 60kg weight of this thing, Vito generally wields it without his coat on.

SPECIAL ABILITIES:

→ The Contender, while still able to fire general ammo, is capable of firing specially designed "Magic Bullets", known as the Origin Bullets. These bullets are designed specifically for taking down Alchemists, being created of a special, paramagnetic alloy of chromium and titanium - built in a highly streamlined shape. These rounds contain a higher amount of purer gunpowder than average bullets - giving these already powerful .30-06 bullets an extra punch. Because of the nature of their design, the Origin Bullets from the Contender are able to resist most Alchemically modified forces (extreme winds, firestorms, the like), and as such - are more effective against Alchemists. He rarely uses these rounds - having started with 55 created, he has used 17 in the past three years. Every round has killed.
