DESCRIPTION:
→ Shione will pretty much wear anything you tell her to, but she typically wears the same thing every day, changing only at night to wash it and to sleep. It's a long, tan, kimono-like dress that is lined with scarlet and tied with a royal blue bow at the back. Around her neck is a blue collar attached to her dress, adorning a beautiful pattern of white. At the end of her spine in the dress she fashioned a neat hole where her tail comes through. Her tail is like a fox's, only, opposite. The main portion is a sand color whereas the tip is a smokey gray. Shione does not have human ears. In their place, are wing-like, furry ears whose colors are like her tail. Shione's tail and ears are that of the lynx she fused with.
On her feet are moccasins fashioned for silence, stealth, and long travels. They are brown and tied with a strong string around her ankles. Under her dress, she does not wear a bra or underwear like most girls of Amestris since Shione is from the isolated Aerugo. She wraps herself in a corset of fabric and buttons it down between her breast.
Shione has long, black hair the color of the night sky, and soft brown eyes the color of the earth. She takes pride in her plain, natural colors because regardless, she emits an ethereal beauty that captivates even women. Her hair is pulled back like a miko's (or priestess') and wrapped with a single white band halfway down her back. Genji, her father, gave her only one ornament in her lifetime, and she was careful to always keep it on her person. She wears it everywhere, everyday. It is a black band that is sewn and fused deeply into her hair, hanging down over her left ear. At the end of it, is an ivory circle, but just before its connection is wrapped a blue band to match her collar.
Shione's voice is light, airy, and beautiful. She has elegant tones that are always expressed with politeness and womanly pizazz. She will not speak unless she had something important to say. With her immortality, comes extreme klutziness. She trips over nothing and runs into walls frequently, always injuring herself in some way. When she isn't falling on her face, she walks with immense grace that ballerinas would worship. She cowers away from strangers and sidesteps danger.
Shione does not have a true form due to her strange transformation.

PERSONALITY:
→ Shione is extremely shy. She tends to hide very often from what disrupts her atmosphere (because she is very in tune with nature) and from what she does not understand. But even so, she will always watch albeit between her fingers. It takes a lot to gain her trust, but once one does obtain it, she is all over the needs of that person. She will do anything for them...literally anything: she would strip naked and do the hula if asked because that was how she was taught.
She is also very sensitive. One harsh word and she will cry or shy away. If someone raises their hand, she will immediately duck, thinking she is to be punished for something she has done wrong. Her self-esteem is very low despite her beauty and ninjutsu skill since she has never been outwardly praised. She does not understand kindness when directed at her and will not know how to handle herself. She is only familiar with handing out kindness and receiving nothing.
Shione is a shadow; once she attaches herself, she will never let go. She can be beaten, stabbed, raped, thrown in the river, but she will continue to come back, bowing before them. It is the only way she knows how to live. Shione does feel pain though and she also despises it and the cruelty of human nature. She represses her personal emotions as much as possible so as to not inconvenience the one she follows. Shione also knows love. She loves her family and her brother she was supposed to be sent to kill. Though she is able to feel love, she does not grasp the fact that is does not have to be fleeting. She thinks that everything is inevitable to end even if it has to be by her own hand, which is why the order to kill her brother, Shura, did not faze her. When asked about herself, she doesn't know what to say or how to react, so she attempts to construct poetry like her mother had in order to describe herself to please the one asking.
Shione is completely devoted; she will go to the ends of the earth to accomplish what is asked of her. Her worst fear is letting someone down no matter who it is. She is like the Traveler in the old Aerugese folk story. He was a man who sought out on a journey from his home to see the world. On his way, he encountered many people who were troubled. He stopped and helped each one until he was completely naked. On he walked, and soon he gave his arms, his legs, his entire body until all that was left was his head. Demons came to him, asking for his eyes, and he kindly obliged. As he lay there dying, the demon turned to him and said: "Here, have this." And he threw a piece of paper with the kanji 'fool' written on it. Tears poured from the traveler's empty eye sockets and he said: "Thank you...thank you so much. No one has ever given me anything before."

HISTORY:
→ Once upon a time in the mountainous frontier of Aerugo began a family of true love. Masako, a girl of fifteen, found a man, Genji, against the tides of fate. Following pages of a typical Heian love story, they overcame status and were able to marry. Masako was the second daughter of a merchant and was destined to be a maidservant in Himeji or, as her mother wanted: a geisha. Masako, however, took her painstaking beauty and disobeyed the will of her parents. She loved music and studied the shamisen, koto, and flute until even her teacher was gasping in silence.
One winter morning fresh snow covered the surface of the world, purifying it. Masako sat gracefully on the balcony of her father's shop, playing a sad samurai's tale on the strings of her shamisen in order to attract customers. Her father had said that was all she was good for so she figured she would flaunt what use she had. A parade of men stamped down the snow, wearing flashy swords and expensive clothes. They waved flags with the Okiza crest on them and seemed to be headed straight towards her father's shop. Covering her mouth in shock, her instrument was put to rest. But as if in dismay, a handsome young samurai stepped forth below the balcony.
"Why have you stopped?" He called up to her with a glistening smile. Masako lowered her hand slowly from her mouth and bowed her head low to the cherry wood that she was kneeling on.
"Because your lordship may be discomforted by my playing."
"Not at all. Quite the opposite. Tell me, what is your name? As you must know, I am Okiza Genji, heir to Himeji. I would like to speak with you."
"Yes! I am Hashimoto Masako. Right away."
And that was how they met. Later, through much debate, Genji forced his will upon the bakufu (shogunal) court and they accepted their unprecedented marriage. This was only because of Masako's talents with music, government, poetry, and war tactics.
A few years later, and Masako bore her great husband a baby girl. And soon after, another girl. Though both Sachiko and Shizuka were loved greatly by elated parents, the err of not having an heir upset the Okiza retainers. Another year later, their wish came true as a boy with peculiar green eyes was born. The Okiza family was in shock at his otherworldly appearance, but he became accepted despite that due to his genius. Many said he was a gift from the kami (shinto gods) or a descendant of Susa-no-o. Shura was trained immediately in the art of the sword. He mastered everything: kenjutsu, archery, and much else. It wasn't enough; Shura's skill was wasted, and so Genji sent Shura to Edo in order to study.
As soon as Shura left, a third daughter arrived--their last child. She was name Shione after the sound of the ocean that Masako always yearned to hear. It was the only child she had been allowed to name herself. Shione was favored as one of the rare beauties that come only once every ten thousand years. Her magnificence was almost horrific--hard to look at--like staring at the sun for too long.
When Shione was only ten years old, the entire Okiza household was attacked and razed to the ground. Genji rushed into the flames despite the warnings. They say he looked as if he was possessed by the demons of hell. He found Shione still breathing underneath the corpse of his marred wife. Shaking with grief, he pulled his last daughter from the ashes and handed her over to his most-trusted retainer: Katsura. He told the man to take her to safety and then rushed further into the ablaze castle, searching for his other daughters...or their remains. Inside, he found both Sachiko and Shizuka unscathed hiding in the kimono closet. He dragged them out and into the fresh air only to watch as everything they knew went up in smoke.
Sorrow strangled Genji and before he knew what he was doing, he was tracking down the culprits. In hell-bent anger, he slayed them on the spot, blooding his sword and the Okiza name, for they were in fact envoys sent by the bakufu themselves. Genji was immediately ordered by the state to commit seppuku for murder despite the clear evidence that his wife had been murdered by those men. Wordlessly, Genji obliged, preserving his honor and sparing his family and vassals a terrible fate. Sachiko and Shizuka went on to marry two of Genji's previous retainers who later established a tea house together in Edo. Shione, however, vanished soon after her father's death. As soon as Kaoru looked away for an instant, she was gone.
When Shione came to, she was in the presence of the bakufu himself. Wrapped in chains and on her knees with her face pressed hard against the tatami, his voice boomed over her like thunder. Although she could not see his face, she feared him, quivering in her elegant kimono--the only keepsake left from her mother. The bakufu asked her if she would adhere to being adopted into the royal family. Her bewilderment could not be expressed with language. But Shione was not stupid; she knew that refusing him would mean unavoidable death. Carefully, she nodded, her eyes never raising to try and see even a corner of his clothing.
"Good" was all he said before she was taken away.
For years, she lived her life in seclusion, waited on like a princess, wearing clothing so expensive that they were more valuable than her life three times over. Her long, black hair was done up with beautiful pins and ornaments; her eyes covered with an array of make-up. She ate food that she had never known existed, and slept in the largest, most powerful castle in all of Aerugo: Nijo. Shione was uncomfortable. She spent most of her time outside in the pruned garden, watching the koi, and observing nature. She tried to copy her mother by writing sloppy haiku, waka, and various other poems that could not compare. Her days fluttered by like this until she was suddenly escorted by two burly men from the castle's premises.
Shione was taken to a large building of architecture she had never before envisioned. The energy it gave off was painful in itself and she shied away from it in fear.
"Now be a good girl and do all that you are told!" One of the men said, shoving her through the doors. Where were the shoji screens? Shione stumbled inside and was instantly emitted into a small, cramped room. For the next three years she lived there, training in various combative skills, Ninjutsu, and other stealth arts. As the bakufu thought, Shione had the same fire as her brother, Shura, whom currently served the emperor's son: Veil Awaikage. The ultimate plan of the bakufu was to set the two siblings who had never met against one another. If Shione defeated her brother, the bakufu would gain power over the emperor. To the bakufu's utter surprise, Shura had been previously transformed into a dog chimera due to the acts of a scientific rebels group. Seeing that this gave him an advantage over her, the bakufu figured that Shione would have to second that. They planned to make her into some sort of cat chimera, for only cats--holy beings--could overcome a beastly dog.
Shione was trained to her limits and beyond until she was deemed perfect whereas she was thrust before a large, glowing circle. Confused, but brave, she accepted her fate. Shione came to terms with that fact that she would be transformed through this magic called alchemy, and submitted herself to her master's will. The whole process was painful--so unbelievably painful that her screams could be heard anywhere in the entire facility. Her blood was boiling, her skin crawling with invasion, her ears disappearing... And yet, she felt her vision sharpening, her hearing bursting through new ears, and her body was altogether lighter. Her spine stretched and a fluffy tail emerged. Absentmindedly, she noted in the mirror across from the circle that her ears were exactly like the Lynx's whom had once stood next to her in the circle.
Just as the transformation was finishing completely, something else entered her. Shione's entire body was enveloped in a red light and she grew suddenly thirsty, but she couldn't find her legs or her voice to call out for help. It's backfiring, she thought with horror. She failed! She failed! Despite the fact that she couldn't locate her body, she felt tears streaming down her cheeks, so continuous were they that she started to wonder if it was raining.
Shione was brought back to consciousness with a bucket of water. She found out that the experiment had been a success. Happiness washed through her and she was overjoyed that she could be of some use in this life. A week later, she was informed that all this was so that she could kill her brother, Shura. At first, Shione was shocked, but she gradually became more accepting of the idea. She was trained to be a ninja after all; it was her duty to assassinate whom she was told to. Love never lasted...Family never lasted...It was inevitable. Why not end it now?
A week went by and Shione was given her first mission: to kill a corrupt government official who resided near the castle. The simple fact that she could return to Nijo afterward, brought a smile to her all too pretty face. But the mission did not go as planned and she was discovered when she slipped off the gate and fell on top of a bonsai. The guards surrounded her in seconds and one stabbed a spear straight through her before she could even regain her footing. But...Shione did not die. She rose to her feet with the spear through her chest and stared her murderer in the face. Needless to say the guards all backed away slowly, thinking she were a specter. Shione glowed red just as she had in the circle and the wound regenerated as soon as she pulled the weapon out of her.
Before the sun rose, the entire household was dead and Shione was covered with blood. She returned to her master caked in red, her tail dragging behind her like a depressed paintbrush. She killed them all... Her master was extremely pleased, saying she went above and beyond what he had hoped. Shione did not tell him that she could not die.
On her sixteenth birthday, Shione was sent out to kill her brother in Edo, but before night fell, Nijo was attacked. Scared beyond belief, Shione hid under the veranda like a scared cat. She watched an army of imperial soldiers march in and slay everything in sight. Just as she had done to the government official... Biting her nails and shaking with sobs, she powerlessly witnessed her master's death. He had been asked to commit seppuku, but he refused, tarnishing his honor as a samurai. The imperial commander slew him himself and removed the head. ...Not much time past before Shione was discovered. Dragged kicking and screaming from under the veranda, she was tossed at the feet of the blood-thirsting army of the emperor.
Her strange beauty and inhuman appearance led the commander to believe that her death would cause her spirit to wreck havoc on the emperor. To avoid such terror and catastrophe, he spared her life. She was stripped of her ninja garb, weapons, and make up and thrust into a cell. Shione wondered if her mother's kimono was now burning in the fire... Everyone was dead now, everything was gone...
A few weeks later, Shione was exiled to Amestris by word of the emperor himself. Once she reached the foreign shore, however, she heard that the emperor died and his son was bestowed with the imperial title. Her brother...was with him... She longed to see him and her sisters...anything, but this crushing loneliness. Now free, she had no aim, no direction...and she could not return to her home country ever again...

POWERS:
→ Shio’s regenerating ability is much slower than all the other homunculus’. She takes much more time to recover from things, and seeing as her body is fatigued easily, it proves a difficulty. Her skin is strangely tough and many things cannot penetrate it--nothing short of a tank or artillery shell can pierce it from a distance. Shio’s first ability is her astonishing trajectory that allows her to move with incredible speed. That is coupled with her insane strength that can easily crush a human skull with one hand. Though along with that, she is terribly clumsy and tends to trip over the tinniest things without realizing that they were there. But it hardly inconveniences her because in a flash, she can be on her feet once more, ready.
