BRIEFING:
→ The Masamune is one of Aerugo's greatest legendary swords (and the most powerful weapon in every Final Fantasy game). Crafted by one Goro Nyudo Masamune, a 14th-century swordsmith and one of the most universally recognised weapons creators of all time, the blade is said to have actually absorbed part of its creator's soul in its forging.
However, this is not that weapon.
Based on ancient designs, as the obsessive, crazy individual that he is, Dr. Rawls ordered a custom-built katana during his time in Aerugo, a replica of the Masamune which he tries, and usually fails, to pass off as the real thing. That said, it's pretty sharp and works exactly the same as any other sword. Stabbing people with it will yield positive results.
→ The Colt Walker was one of the greatest revolvers of the American old West. Only a handful are still in circulation today, and they are all either in the hands of very rich collectors or museums. That said, Rawls has unearthed a couple in his digs, and, doing so, decided he'd pilfer one for his own "collection", getting it refurbished in secret by a gunsmith so that it would fire actual bullets - should it ever come to that. However, this rather surprising tale does come with its drawback; Rawls' refurbished Walker, whilst the cylinder has been heavily modified so it doesn't fire lead balls like the original, does fire specialised cartridges that he must buy in advance, and usually he only carries one spare cylinder of ammunition. The doctor argues this is an adequate trade-off for "how cool it looks".
→ The Winchester Model 1897 trench gun is a 12-gauge pump-action shotgun utilising a five-shell tubular magazine. Whilst not exactly as antiquated as most of Rawls' other possessions, it's still old - though refurbished - and occasionally jams on him. This, however, the good doctor claims, is bypassed by its "sheer historical value". He refuses to tell the story of how he came by one of these things - the date of manufacture is 1902, so it's pretty old and falling apart - so you can presume a degree of theft IS involved.
→ The Remington Model 95 is the most commonly-recognised historical pocket pistol, utilising an over-under chamber to fire two .41 Rimfire cartridges. Easily concealable, small, and, as Dr. Rawls describes it, "cute", its lethality should not be underrated - nor the archaeologist's worryingly good aim with it.
→ The 1969 El Camino is a beast of a muscle car and, some (Rawls) would argue, the "best thing to have come out of Creta since Abraham Lincoln". His is painted in a delightful red, and accommodates two people, plus however many
