The making of a new Head in Central HQ
The front door at central HQ flies open. Polished black boots are being put one before the other. Strongly stepping towards the stairs. ’’Good morning sergeant Ford, they are waiting for you on the 3rd floor’’ Lucas smiles politely and thanks the receptionist at the lobby and continues towards. Hair is perfect, his uniform spotless, the few medals he has pinned on his chest and his boots polished.
The buttons used to keep his sergeant on his uniform stripes are worn. It’s about time they got replaced Lucas softly spoke to himself. He salutes a few officers that are coming down the stairs towards him. They salute back and continue on their way. On the second floor Lucas stops for a moment. He pats his pockets. He makes sure he has the letter he received with him. Once he feels it in his right pocket he continues on up the stairs. And on the way towards the third floor he stops again because he hears something outside in the courtyard. It seems an entire company is being assembled out there. Today is a beautiful day he thinks. Sun is out shining nice and warm. At least it was going to be according to the weatherman. You can’t really tell at 08:30 in the morning.
On March 1st 2013 Sergeant L. Ford is to attend a conference in central HQ. In the Conference hall, his performance in his military career shall be reviewed in the presence of Trained and proven officers stationed in central HQ. Sergeant Ford shall be interviewed to see if he is deemed suitable for a newly open position. He is to arrive at 0830 hours.
That is all he remembered from the letter. But it seems that his hard work had finally paid of in the form of a promotion. Word had quickly spread around HQ. People that weren’t supposed to salute him did just that. On the stairs towards the 3rd floor he ran into some higher ranking officers which he highly respected but didn’t know personally. One of them was even a Colonel. He saluted them and so did they. And one of them spoke We’ll be seeing you around quite a bit more as off today sergeant And then they got back on their way to do all sorts of thing high ranking officers like them do. Lucas didn’t know what those things were but he had a feeling he was about to find out.
After the many short stops he finally arrived on the third floor, he took a right following the sign that said: Conference Hall. Then another right which led him to two giant wooden doors with a sign to their right saying: conference hall.
He cleared his throat. Checked if his uniform was still in perfect shape. Adjusted his sergeant stripes.
Got the letter out of his pocket, took a deep breath and pushed open the doors. He took three steps, saluted, waited for the two doors to close behind him and then spoke with a strong voice: Sergeant Ford reporting. He looked into a room which was round. He was standing in an open area. Apparently he took the correct door because he was now in the center of the room. And with him was one of the leaders of central HQ. He had quite a few papers with him it seemed. The rest of the round room consisted of rows of seats. One higher and farther back than the one in front of it. To Lucas it seemed like bleachers. All of the seats were occupied by officers.
This must be the largest collection of officers I have ever seen Lucas thought to himself. He was asked to take a seat himself. Yes sir! He replied. Once he took a seat he was told to be at ease. Which he did. He wasn’t really nervous but not fully comfortable either. It was as his father told him: the perfect way to feel during an interview like this.
Let us begin, are you ready sergeant? Asked the person who seemed to be going to take the interview. This was it. The start of a new position. A new way of life possibly.
Lucas smiled and spoke: Yes sir!
‘’So it begins’’ He thought

Re: The making of a new Head in Central HQ
Csilla had all of the luck. She was busy enough as it is but on top of everything, she had to interview someone for Head of Spies position. It was kind of a draw straws situation, because the likelihood of Spade actually doing this was sometimes slim. In this case, definitely slim. But oh well. The sooner the interview was done, the sooner Csilla could get back to her piles of paperwork. She walked up to third floor where a lecture hall full of soldiers had been designated to sit and watch the candidate walk in. It was purely for an intimidation kind of measure. See how he reacts confronted by a large group people. She walked in just as Lucas spoke and smiled, tapping him on the shoulder. "Excuse me?"
As Lucas turned to face her, she glanced over his shoulder. The room all gave some semblance of nods and thumbs up, approving the choice so far. She nodded her head a little. "Sergeant Ford? I'm Major Angelis. If you'll come with me." She casually directed him back downstairs and into her office. She gestured that he sit at the chair across from her desk, before she took her seat behind it. She gave him a friendly smile. "So. Why Spies?"
