BRIEFING:
→ Tyr's Gift is simply another name for simple agitation alchemy. At level one, Siegfried can use the transmutation circle on the base of his hammer, or on his gauntlet to agitate the particles in water, and water alone, and turn them into heated water vapour (steam).
In order to do so, Siegfried simply needs to have a decent grasp on the amount of steam he'll create from transmuting a certain-sized body of water. As well as this, his primary limitation is in volume and time; the more surface area there is on the water, the longer he'll take to actually transmute it all. It would this be impractical to transmute more than a few litres in a single transmutation as the time constraints would rapidly catch up with Siegfried - alongside the energy required to do so, as well. It'd take a huge strain on Siegfried's elderly body.

SPECIAL ABILITIES:
→ Steam Jet Catalyst - The gauntlet itself is simply for easy-access - note that whilst Siegfried can follow in Isaac MacDougal's steps and transmute the human body's water quantity, this violates his ideals and he will as such not use this directly - steam bursts are still fine, however.
The hammer is where the alchemy's true brilliance shine through. As the hammer is mechanised, using five steam-powered pistons to pump air in order to give it that little extra oomph, when the hammer impacts a solid surface (either usually the ground or someone's face) and the transmutation circle is activated, the 'active' vial of water (the one at the top, see reference picture) shatters, and the water within is transmuted into steam.
This steam flows directly into the piston mechanism, and the wheel of the hammer then cycles, automatically, loading both a new piston and a new vial, aligning both with the transmutation circle on the hammer's base. The process can then be repeated another four times. What the process actually does is increases the rate the piston pumps, by allowing it to harness the steam within and its innate heat, forcing a faster hammer mechanism altogether, and adding that little extra oomph each time.
In a nutshell, whenever Siegfried hits something with the hammer, his swings get faster, and hurt a fuck of a lot more. :'D
