DESCRIPTION: Æthan is a pretty tall young man, with a young looking face. He appears to be no older than fifteen years old, which is what others usually say to him within a few moments of figuring out his age. His medium length blonde hair flows naturally down his face, and cups his cheeks quite nicely. The hair ends at just a little bit below his chin, and the only hair out of place is a rather sizable cow lick that extends the opposite direction of gravity, and shoots behind him. He has a very slightly tanned complexion, and his eyes are a shining green color. His cheeks are a bit larger than most, hence why it is seen as child like. The small nose and thin eyebrows don't help him to appear his own age of seventeen either. His body type is skinny, but lean, with a bit of muscularity to him, but he isn't huge. He has slightly wider shoulders than those his age, even though they are mostly hidden under his robes. Æthan's clothing choice is often in line with the earth, with green, brown, and white color schemes. He wears a long robe that appears almost as if a priest would wear it, with large gould buttons under the shoulders, along with a large flap in the front covering his shirt. His shirt is a dark brown color. The robe has large open sleeves that are rounded near the hand, and covers the hands when standing at attention. The robe has markings over it reminiscient of alchemy symbols one would find in a circle. He also wears a necklace with a large circular pendant, that appears to be made of some sort of glass. Inside the pendant is a special alchemy circle.

PERSONALITY: Æthan is a cold and calculating individual usually. He had a rough childhood, which makes him not show emotions until he actually gets to know someone. He rarely has a smile on his face, even after he has become friends with someone, because he doesn't see the need to smile. He doesn't really show too many emotions, and likes to think things through. He is a researcher and a scholar, and is very smart by normal standards, especially when judged against his own peers. Æthan has emotions, but it is simply difficult to bring them about without some sort of force behind it. One of the few times that he will actually smile is when he is out in nature, enjoying the sights and sounds that a large forest or open mountain range would bring. He doesn't particularly enjoy the company of humans, and prefers animals.

He is an animal lover, and this doesn't simply stop at normal animals. He seems to like any animal, even chimeras to great extent, although if a chimera was threatening him, he would defend himself, it would just be a tad more difficult. Æthan can sometimes be seen as sad, simply because he might have a relaxed frown on his face, and sometimes this is true. He missed his family and friends that were left behind when he moved, but he is simply in search of knowledge. He isn't too interested in the opposite sex right now, and coupled with his cold and mysterious demeanor, he wouldn't really give back any flirtation or feelings of love towards another person.

HISTORY:
Birth and Early Childhood -- Æthan was born into a wealthy family of earth alchemists, his mother being one that was a contractor for building houses and repairing masonry, while his father was good enough to be a State Alchemist. His older brother and sister, twins in his family, were both alchemists that studied and understood the properties and alchemical values of the earth, even at a very young age. In his family, alchemy was everything, so when Æthan came of age to where he began to study it, his parents were very proud. He was an extremely quick study, able to memorize wholke textx on alchemy in a matter of days and recite them by heart. Even though he seemed so gifted in the arts of research and development at such a young age, he still had no skill in actually doing alchemy. He was so gifted in actually learning and understanding, that his father pushed it off as him being a late bloomer.

Teenage Years -- Æthan had reached the age of thirteen, and because of his father's State Alchemist position, he was gone away on business and military duties until now. Æthan had dodged telling his father about his inability to perform alchemy until now, and soon it would all spill out. He knew a bunch of alchemy circles for controlling the earth and shaping it to his will, but he simply couldn't conjure the energy to do so. He was forced into a competition between other alchemists in his town, and his father was boasting quite a bit about his son's abilities as an alchemist. Æthan simply tried to smile and fake it for a bit longer, but he couldn't, and was defeated by the opponent in a single move, even forcing Æthan to the ground in pain. He was no contest at all for the other person, and his father gave the nastiest look he had seen in his life. After the competition was over, his father took him outside with his things, and threw them on the floor. He told him that he was no banished, and forbidden to come into the house again for embarrasing their family name with himself. He looked towards his mother and siblings, but they simply looked away from him. Crying, he ran out of the village annd headed East.

East City Studies -- Æthan reached East City fairly soon, but had to trade in most of his personal items for money to get a ticket. He looked for a job immediately, and soon found a botany shop that needed assistance. His emotions were basically dead because of his father, so he wasn't much of a salesman, even though he didn't cause too much trouble. He was put in the back of the shop to simply stock shelves and to tend to the plants when he had some down time. He was alright with that, considering he loved nature, and being around plants and things was a booster for him. He got many questions on why a child so young would be traveling alone, and he wondered what people meant by that. He didn't understand that he looked a lot younger than he actually was at the time. He learned how to treat plants, and about different soil compositions to get desired results, and the botany store was very similar to alchemy. One day, he was simply drawing an alchemy circle, forgetting what his father had said to him before he was banished, and he actually figured out how to transmute something. It was a simply flower design, but this led to a lot of new things over the next few years.

Learning His Ability -- After studying earth's alchemical properties in detail, now that Æthan learned how to transmute, he started to delevop his own style. He was trying to separate different minerals and rocks from the earth itself, so he could have certain materials under his control. He was working on becoming a state alchemist in his free time, and he would surpass his father by a long shot, just to rub it in his face. As he was studying, he came across a particularly interesting aspect of energy. He was now sixteen, and spent a year of his life learning and creating his own particular brand of alchemy, and affixed his alchemy circle in the pendant he wears around his neck constantly. He is also thinking of tattooing the markings on his hands for easier access, but a tattoo is a serious ordeal.

ALCHEMIC ABILITY:
Elastic Energy Manipulation - Æthan has learned how to use alchemy circles to gather energy, and then expel the energy into shockwaves. This energy is placed into an object or the air to give a large "push" in lamen's terms. It takes time for the circles to gather this energy, thus alchemy like this always has a wait time before it can be activated, along with a cool down before it can be activated again.
