A pest or an ally? (Storage area) (open)
Jan had finally done it, or at least in his opinion he had, he had signed up to become a pirate, so he may finally find a place he belonged, at least for a few years until they had found no use for him and killed or dumped him to later be killed, Still for now there was no need to worry about such things, Jan looked around the Storage area, and instantly fell in love, the place was a total mess, some of the food covering the ground, not a single box turned upright. the ten year old Ant child popped his knuckles and got to work. stacking the boxes one at a time, exploring the contents on each box until he knew every piece of it inside and out, not daring to take anything out of any box in fear the "higher ups" would have his head. the boy was wearing the same attire as he always wore, a thin sleeveless shirt, light brown from all the dirt he had gotten on him, sack cloth pants that piled around his feet. and his coat was hung up nearby the door, almost sticking to it like glue with how filthy it was. he had about half the boxes stacked neatly up and the others in a pile nearby within an hour.

Sec was walking through the ship, inspecting it as he frequently did. As the First Mate, he felt it was his duty to do so, whether or not Sal actually ordered him to. So next on his checklist was Storage. He walked into the room, expecting the normally dishevelled boxes that always decorated the room. To his surprise they were neatly stacked to perfection. He raised his eyebrows in surprise, unusual for him. "Well I'll be... We got ourselves a maid..." As he often did, he was muttering to himself in Xerxian. He then spoke in Amestrian. "Ah well, I suppose you are new." He spoke deadpan as he was accustomed. "My name is First Mate Secundinasci Amor Invidia. You are to address me as First Mate, Secundinasci, or if you wish to be more informal, Sec will do fine. Amazing job on the storage room. May I have your name?" He watched the ant child as he waited for a response.

Jan had already finished with all the boxes in the room by the time that Sec had showed up, all but five of the large boxes witch where put next to each other, a large piece of cloth over them, a very crude bed that was good enough for Jan to enjoy a good nights sleep when he needs it. looking over his shoulder he turned and bowed low, looking up at him as he spoke in Amestrain, witch was very lucky, as it was his native language. standing straight up, the very childish body of Jan, his lips puckered as he tried his hardest to be serous with his first impression his sharp teeth showing off the top of his lips, not fangs, they where all large and flat with spikes on the top, meant for causing as much pain in each bite as it could without doing real damage. he spoke in Amestrain, as he saw he understood it. "I am Jan Eisenhauer! part of the cabin personal and very eager to prove my worth the the pirates!" He then made a quick bow. "First mate Secundinasci, with your blessing, I wish to 'live' in the Storage area...." Jan looked up at him with a look that seemed to unevenly mix Child-like desires and his Ant-like Determination to what he wishes. being a second generation chimera of an ant, this was to be expected, however it would leave anyone unknowing of this dumbfounded, as aside from the few details one may pick up on while speaking with him, Jan was a normal ten year old kid!

Re: A pest or an ally? (Storage area) (open)
Sec smirked lightly to himself, amazed at the kid's prowess. Had Sal seen this kid yet? About ten years old, he was at least 3 feet shorter than the giant Sec, but he did his best to make eye contact, sort of getting down on one knee like some parents do to talk to their kids sometimes. "Well, I'd say you are pretty worthy of the crew. I love the attitude too. And the organization and inventory management... I think we have a child genius on our hands here. May I be the first to welcome you aboard." He then listened to Jan's request. So he wanted to live in the storage area? Well, that was probably the cause of the boxes made sort of comfy looking. He smiled, amused. "Well, if you want, I'm sure you can, though we DO have crew cabins. But, if you like it better down here, I guess you could stay. The Captain shouldn't mind much. Most of this stuff is junk anyways. If you see anything good, you can have it, unless it seems we might need it for something."

Re: A pest or an ally? (Storage area) (open)
Jan looked at Sec with is lips still puckered tightly, he was very tense, scared that anything he might do would make sec not like him. The ten-year-old Chimera stiff as a board unless it was to bow to him, witch he did right away. "Thank you for saying Sir! I wish only to be of assistance. and living nearby the rations may insure that anyone whom wishes to steal food have to go though me!" Smiling a bit, a glow in his eye, he in truth was not very smart, just a very hard worker with a desire to do what it best for all hardwired into his brain, now that he was part of a "hive" the ant part of him called out for him to earn his place. and he did nothing to resist the song that played in his head when he did something good for the team. however, he was not just a hard working little kid, relative to his size, he is 6 times more powerful physically than any normal ten year old. when he becomes and adult, he could damn near lift entire rooms of the ship and remove them from the whole. and with that in mind to look foreword to, images of himself when he grows up to be big and strong. his puckered lips formed a confident smile. almost sure that anyone whom tries to steal from storage, not matter what the item, has to have it checked out by him first, unless it was a higher up, of coarse.

Re: A pest or an ally? (Storage area) (open)
Sec laughed as Jan bowed again and as he promised to protect the food from invaders. he liked the kid by then. Interesting child, to say the least, anyways. "This boy is something else, Sec... I think he's scared of me! Jan, loosen up a bit. i won't hurt you or anything. And stop bowing so much. We're equals, I'm just higher up on the ranking ladder. We're all equal here, a bunch of misfit pirates, eh? And I have a feeling any intruder that comes in here, you can handle them. You got a certain look about you, I just can't place it. Potential, I'd say." He grinned. The pirates seemed to be making him do that more and more often, actually. Sec stepped a bit closer, to get a better look at the boy. Jan was afair amount shorter than him, thinner, and looked younger than him, of course, since he was. But upon closer inspections, he noticed that Jan was pretty ripped for his size, good sized muscles. He was strong, maybe even as strong as himself! "By Truth, well I'll be... You work out, Jan? No wonder you moved all those boxes so quick..."

Re: A pest or an ally? (Storage area) (open)
Jan smiled and looked at Sec with a nod, his thin sleeveless shirt left nothing to the imagination, his body having nearly no fat on it, and places like his elbow seemed to push out a tad more, his bones being much thicker, luckily for Jan he was not a first generation, or else the bones would have likely tried to grow out and cover his skin, but rather than that they seemed to simply harden, further adding to his physical power. Still, he was just a kid, A light one at that, without any leverage he wouldn't be able to do anything, and leverage was something very easily taken from the ten year old. Tilting his head slightly when he spoke Xerxian, showing he did not understand it he smiled a bit and put his arms behind his back, spreading his legs out evenly, a "at ease" position. being in military custody during the time he was made a chimera, he quickly caught on to the routines of his captures. "Ranking is was separates where the work goes to sir! and I am proud to be at the bottom of such a chain of command!" Being more than proud to work to death, this sentience came to him as natural as breathing. sweating a little bit out of nervousness as he inspected Jan, hoping that sec liked what he saw. smiling a bit when it appeared he did. "I am a chimera! I think that is what they called me....the men that took me wanted to see what would happen if I was mixed up with an ant!..I was never told what type of ant though....but because of it I am super strong!..oh, and if I eat anything but candy, I get sick..." Smiling he looked at one of the stacks of boxes he had, it was almost stacked to the ceiling, but it still looked really heavy and hard to lift, walking over to it, Jan took the entire stack and pulled it up until it touched the ceiling. no matter how much he grunted and wiggled trying to get positioning right, it appeared the ground below him would give out before he did.

Sec smiled, watching Jan's reactions to meeting him. He was a bit amused when he tilted his head as he spoke Xerxian. Sec always found that confusion to be kind of funny. No one really knew the language, but he treated it as his own native tongue, so those he knew soon caught on. He laughed at Jan's pride in his position on the crew. "Well that's a good thing too, then. It's a pretty good work ethic to enjoy your job, even if it is at the bottom of the rankings." Then, when it seemed Jan could amaze Sec no further, he did. It was also a good indicator as to the gut feeling he had of the child, and of his quick liking and fascination of him. He was a chimera. Sec's eyes showed a hint of surprise, but it was a pleasant surprise.
"That is really something, Jan. You know, our captain is a chimera too. I think you'll fit in well with the crew, especially after everything I've seen. Like the rest of us, you stand out from the norm, have traits of something more unique than anyone else on Earth." And with a grin, he added. "And candy? I think I can supply enough of that. I have to carry the captain's food anyways, so I have plenty." He then whipped out the gigantic Bag O' Snacks from his inner suit jacket. Rummaging through meat, dairy, and produce, he eventually found a tin of chocolate bonbons. Smiling, he handed the tin to Jan. "Here you are. A welcome gift." He then watched as Jan lifted up a stack of boxes, and thought to himself that he would never cease to amaze him...

Re: A pest or an ally? (Storage area) (open)
Jan smiled happily at how sec seemed to like him, putting the boxes down and walking back to him, he was sweating a bit, clearly the boxes where his limit, there being five of them stacked up at once, there was still a clear limit to his physical power, and as mentioned before, it is nothing without the proper leverage. standing again at ease as sec began speaking. Responding only after he was finished "We all have a place sir, I am glad my place is here."
Looking at the tin of candy Jan's eyes instantly lit up, he was dependent on the stuff to be sure, candy being literally the only thing that does not make him puke now, but it also seemed to have an effect on him unlike any other, sure, all kids like candy, but few get a buzz off it like Jan does. and the addiction to it made it hard to not eat every piece the second he got a hold of the tin. rather he slowly, seeming to shake while doing so, put the tin into his back pocket smiling and nodding to sec. "Thank you for saying so first mate secundinasci. I really don't see myself as all the special however...I mean, I might be the only chimera mixed with an ant, or any insect for that matter, but I am still just one of all the people in the world...."
He then listened as sec explained that the captain was also a chimera. and his eyes lit up more, very happy to hear that, but he had to thank him for the candy first. "t-thanks so much sir! I promise I will make it last." Panting a little still from lifting the boxes, he hoped that sec would not notice his stuttering, the candy now on his person driving him mad. Not being the most mentally stable of children, what having already killed before and being alone for much of his life, and his self control was quickly waning with his addiction being so close to him. he hoped that sec would just think the stuttering was from him lifting the boxes.

Sec smiled. "Well, I'm certainly glad of that as well. This is the best place to be." He then laughed lightly, as Jan watched eagerly when the candy was given to him. Sec was glad to have been able to help someone else like that. In truth, he would have never really used it, because he hardly ate, and Sal only ate the meat he gave him, so it would have been wasted treats. Now he figured it was someone there that could eat the candy he bought, saving him... No money, exactly, but he could waste less of the money he DID spend. Focusing again on Jan, he frowned slightly, before smiling and shaking his head. "No, no, not special like that! Sure, you might be the only ant chimera child, but I meant your personality, your attitude. The things that make someone. And to say that you are just one of many, is like saying you are a clone of the modern age. You are nothing like that, none of us are! You get what I mean?" Sec realized he was giving a lot of individuality speeches lately... Kind of weird, but eh.
Sec smiled as he thanked him for the candy. "Don't mention it. Just a friendly gesture. Everyone's gotta eat, right?" He noticed Jan was stuttering a bit, triggering a part of his mind long unopened. Since his days as an unknowing associate to a group of dealers, he'd had a thing about addictions, drugs or not. Stuttering was a good indicator of something abnormal, so he just hoped the kid didn't use candy as a way of getting a sugar high. But then, his more logical, less paranoid side reassured him it was just from hard labor. 5 heavy boxes, even lifted by a half-ant child, would be a lot. Sec could barely lift three of the boxes himself, and he prided himself on a daily excersiose routine! But, he just passed it off as hard work's harder toll.

Standing once again at ease, this time not making any movements until sec was finished what he was doing. nodding calmly and keeping his hands behind his back, trying to resist taking one of the treats already, as it would make a fool out of him in front of the first mate, what he said was true, the candy is almost all he can eat, but the side effect of eating it is a rush like no child ever feels when they eat candy. nodding a bit. "t-that is true s-sir." This time he was not panting, but still stuttering. trying his best to stop himself from doing it, and rather just doing it more. "I-is there a-anything else s-sir?"

Re: A pest or an ally? (Storage area) (open)
After hoping it was hard labor, he could see now, it was not. It was also not nerves acting up because of himself, no, it was a sad song of addiction. Sec had to himself about 9-10 years of knowing how that sounds, looks, and acts. The stuttering boy really DID seem to have some sort of sugar craze, he was afraid. Frowning, he walked closer to the boy, and kneeled down so they were eye level. Slowly, and as gently as his harshly iced voice could manage, he spoke to Jan. "Jan, you seem to be acting strangely. You're stuttering. I know a powerful craving when I see one. I worked for a few drug lords when I was your age," He skipped the details of how THAT ended, a story for another day. "And I know full well what junkies act like. You've got some kind of sugar high, don't you? I can tell you want to eat the candy now, so go ahead. But just remember, you have the choice to NOT eat it all now, and you have the choice to limit yourself to what you need any other day. I'm telling you this so it doesn't hurt you some day, okay?" He smiled and stood back up, hoping his words would impact the young chimera. Muttering darkly to himself, he pondered, "I just hope he DOES listen..."

Jan's eyes widened slightly as sec came into him, listening to him, his lip trembling slightly, feeling like he had disappointed sec, and mad at himself for his poor handling of the candy, making a fool out of himself. frowning a little and starting to fear that he would be abandoned, thinking the worst case. "B-but I was telling the truth! if I eat anything but candy, I-I get really sick..but when I do eat candy i feel really silly....I..really don't like eating in front of people" Jan then looked away a bit, embarrassed that he had to reveal this so soon.

(~(XP Sorry! I was procrastinating for a few days, because I lost my thought train, then I forgot about some threads! xD)~)
Sec sighed, and looked at the boy, shaking his head, and in a very un-Secsy way, grinning. This kid was kind of funny, but he didn't get Sec's message.
"Jan, really, it's okay! I'm just saying, eat your candy, but don't do it all at once. If you can only eat candy, you want it to last, right? And don't hide things like that, don't be ashamed of anything you do. We're a crew here, no secrets. You're one of us, now." He smiled at Jan still.
"And another thing; Try and loosen up, really. When we're doing business, yeah, you can be all stiff and polite and such, but in the ship, chill out some. It's not the military or anything, is it?"

(its ok, I was derping around and forgot as well!!!! XD)
Jan looked up at him, happy, in a way at least, that Sec was doing his best to encourage that he is one of them, but it was not going to work like that, not with Jan at least. "Yes First mate Secundinasci, I understand...but I have to be this way sir..I need someone who can keep me on a tight leash and make sure I am always doing what needs to be done!...otherwise I'll go mad." he was not kidding,in fact, the tone in his voice was a fairly uneasy one, he was dead serious, he had lived most of his life as a military experiment, and the rest of it as an ant power with no queen to wait on. trying to 'brown nose' the first mate was far from what he was trying to do here at all, he is in dire need to keep his own sanity. and the only way he knows how to do that is though pretending that everyone is his queen until he finds the right person to serve the rest of his life under. if Sec would look at his face, he would see that now, he was not stuttering, but his head was slightly cocked to the side, furthermore his eye twitched very slightly every few second, the command to take it easy to someone who must serve everyone who demands it is not something the ten year old could follow easily, and it was starting to drive him insane on what he was meant to do. and while he did not appear to be violent, nor does he look like he COULD be violent, Sec has already seen a case of his potential strength and fortitude, and at a young stage of development, it could only get worse, sec would be faced with quite a few choices here, ranging from trying to calm him down and hoping someone else takes over to killing Jan right here before he goes bat shit insane one day when it would take a cannon to stop him.

Re: A pest or an ally? (Storage area) (open)
Sec sighed, with a shrug and a smile. "Well, it was worth a shot, eh? But, I guess as an ant chimera, formality may seem a bit more logical to you. Well, if you so wish, I guess you can be as you will. As long as you're happy, that's what counts. So anyways, other than guarding the storage space, what else do you want to do here with us? And is there anything you might want to learn to do, so you could do more for the Pirates, or your own desires? Just tell me, and I can help you as best as possible." He smiled. Well, Jan was certainly an odd little child, but like Rolego and Sal, Sec had taken a liking to him in the short time he'd known him. Jan was now one of three people Sec would hesitate to harm, and now that he was part of the crew, his life was Sec's life, and Sec would loyally defend him, and never kill him, no matter how he messed up, until he was no longer a Pirate, should that ever happen. One of the things Sec and Jan shared was loyalty, something neither would ever take lightly. Sec liked that attitude in someone. He knew he could count on Jan!

Jan smiled, if not a bit crookedly when he said he may stay as he was, his eyes where still a little imbalanced but he soon stood back at attention, like he was a military boy on the ship. when asked what he would like to do to help, Jan could only think of one thing, the biggest problem the pirates seemed to have in his eyes at the moment, the ship was stuck in ice! and a ship that is stuck is a ship that cant sail the seas and do their duty! with this, Jan knew his next goal, even if he had to do it single handedly, he wanted to drag the ship out of the ice and into open sea! "I wish to break the ice surrounding the ship, and make our home seaworthy again First mate Secundinasci!" With a big smile on his face and confidence in his eyes, he was ready to get to work as soon as he could, even if it meant digging though the ice with his bare hands

Re: A pest or an ally? (Storage area) (open)
Sec chuckled lightly at Jan’s reply. It was a lovely idea, an amazing one. And at that, it was a reply to what he wanted to do on the ship. To actually MOVE the ship… That was the goal of the crew, or one of them anyways. And Jan wanted to move it too, and was so very determined to do so, he would do it himself. Sec grinned, beaming ear to ear, proud of his crew, specifically Jan at the moment. They could do anything if they set their minds to it! Sal had done a number on choosing his crew… The best and brightest that the world never knew… “This kid. He can do anything, I’m sure of it. Man, I’d kill for his determination…” He muttered more to himself again, than to Jan. “Jan, I think that’s the best idea I’ve heard in a long time. And you won’t do it alone, by any means. I’ll be out there breaking my back right next to you. Captain’ll probably order the whole crew to help, not to mention himself. I like your thinking. Good job, Jan. We can start as soon as you’re ready, and the Captain agrees.”
