PERSONALITY:

A cerebral inquisitor who often operates on intellect alone, Jebediah is a rational man wise far beyond his level of maturity—often suppressing his emotions to size up the target more capably. He gazes at everything through a hyper-focused optic lens, utilizing deductive reasoning and a type of impersonal, detached empathy to develop hypotheses and theories through a rigorous process of trial, error, and elimination only he can see, in his head. An extremely farsighted nonconformist that conforms only when it suits his purposes, his endeavors characterized by a logical and stoic deadpan approach to the world around him, his ends are, in his mind, justified by the means by which he conducts himself. A rebellious youth at heart, Jebediah questions the validity of assumptions and the motives of others, uncannily speaking the thoughts of others before they can verbalize, rudely but accurately saying what others think but lack the willingness to say. He is a very calm and patient adversary with an unshakable will and who has no problem speaking aloud his opinions, regardless of opposition.

Admitting to being not entirely objective, believing that to be fully objective one has to purge oneself from personal perspective and see variables as is, unclouded by how objects are typically viewed when peering through the natural filter of the unique perspective every being is born with—which is why people can be objective, but not always truly so—Jebediah is prompted to find the rejection of individuality not to his liking. The freely spoken mouth, and all-seeing eye, of the room, the man often rubs others the wrong way, his admonishing reproach leading to him being considered abrasive by most that encounter him. Oftentimes, though, he cunningly utilizes their repulsion to shield their eyes from seeing the amount of what he sees, allowing him an advantage, played right, several steps ahead, showing him, granting him, more food to further work toward quenching the pure analytic genius always grown bored so swiftly, to further satiate the unquenchable thirst for the mystery to solve, the riddle to answer, the code to decipher and the conundrum to untwist—an abstinence of emotion to avoid emotional entanglements, he denies himself humanity to grant himself life, for when, and only when, his mind is occupied by the pieces of a puzzles can he truly taste being—existence. Ultimately, it is a sad fate to be given, bestowed to one such profound gifts, but happiness ultimately not theirs to find, have, take, not by any stretch of the will a means to sate the colossal appetite.

HISTORY:

It is WAY too popular and rarely played out well. Once in a while, I'll accept a well written tragedy, but most of the time... no. Characters don't need horrific histories in order to be interesting. Keep the child abuse, rape, family deaths, etc out of here. They get old fast. Must be at least 450 words.
