CASE FILE: Transmutation Equipment
Shinaru, Ken

→ “Artificial Superposition: Edge Configuration”
TYPE:
→ Technically ‘Elemental’ – Earth/Mineral Based Alchemy.
LEVEL:
→ Level One.
FORM:
→ Five seals at any given time.
The first one, and most commonly seen, is found on the exterior of his left hand’s black fingerless glove. This seal is found on the palm.
The second is an identical seal on his right hand, except the seal is engraved into his flesh.
The third seal is seen at the bottom of the sheathe for his Odachi longsword, a very small one, and hard to get to or even use. But nonetheless, there.
The fourth and fifth seals are engraved into the soles of his shoes. The are located in the arch-like formation in them, thus preventing unnecessary transmutations until Ken slams his foot down hard enough.

BRIEFING:
→ A very simple form of transmutation. It involves merely displacing the materials of the earth above ground and then reforming them into sword-like objects. The only issue is that what is actually being affected in the process are the minerals that compose most solid substances that ARE the ground. These minerals are then traced back into several major elements, all of which Ken must know and understand how they interact on the atomic level (and since he’s not a master at this, sometimes his alchemy can backfire on him). However, the ability to change the structural and chemical make-up of the substances he forces out of the ground means he can theoretically form immensely durable weapons out of them that then strike enemies. As this is highly dependent on ‘earth’ or more accurately ‘minerals,’ Ken can employ this Alchemy in most combat situations (provided there is a building around containing the elements he can control or direct contact with the ground).
However, basic alchemy or alkahestry and other earth-based alchemical skills can often negate or override his own, which presents openings for the enemies as he tries to avoid the backlash of his failed transmutation AND the effects of his opponents’.
The skill has a very wide combat-range, allowing Ken to strike targets up to 7.5 meters from his position. However, the true effective range of his technique falls within a single meter of diameter in a circular area. In other words, while he can strike targets in the 7.5 radius, the only area being afflicted with his alchemical technique is a significantly smaller area .5 meter in radius. In addition, only when the energy derived from the tectonic plates is accumulated into the ‘Reconstruction’ phase is the transmutation instantaneous. This means during the ‘Analysis’ and ‘Deconstruction’ phases, there is a VERY noticeable delay. This is usually signified by a slight depression in the surface of the ground around the target area, which is the materials that are deconstructed and then reformed into blades AT the 1.00 meter wide circle flying upwards. The depression is VERY much noticeable, and it’s quite easy for people to quickly get out of the way. Provided that they were very far away from Ken to begin with, as the closer they are, the less of a intermission period and delay there is for his transmutation. Which means if they were standing right in front of him, the moment he initiates his transmutation, almost simultaneously do his blades appear. And the delay increases as they get back further, to the point that there’s a multiple second delay if they are at the edge of his influence.
Blades formed, and the number of them, as well as how they affect opponents are dictated by the Circles he uses, each which are fundamentally the same, but with varying text that alter the ‘Reconstruction’ phase slightly.
PICTURE:
→ CIRCLE
Each circle is fundamentally the same. Three lines intersect at the center of a circle, the ends of them ending on the circle itself. Altogether, it forms six radii that divide the circle evenly into six. Within, the end points of each on the circumference all have rays drawn in to connect them, forming a hexagram inside the Circle. Additional lines are applied to the whole. The top three radii, or upper halves of the three lines are then depicted as the beginnings of blades, a third down their lengths (from top to bottom), rectangular depictions of handles and hilts are made, whilst the lines of the blade begin at the ends of the hilt/guard’s of each blade and slowly close in to points at the ends of the three lines. Surrounding the circle is yet another one, creating a band about this hexagram of blades, inscribed in this band are a collection of Latin words, which altogether serve as the limiter of what the Circle/Seal can do.
There are four combinations altogether. They are: “Terras, Gladium, Committit.” “Terras, Plures Armis, Committit.” “Terras, Magna Gladium, Mihi.” & “Terras, Innumerabilis, Armi Contritio, Omnes hostas.”
In essence, the seal begins with three European longswords being crossed at their centers, whilst the Hexagram is formed from the ends of the hilts and the tips of the blades, altogether surrounded by Latin text. It should be interesting to note that on all Seals, there is additional text patterned onto the blades, as well. The blade crossing from left to right is written in Amestrian and translates, roughly, “War is an engine of destruction.” The middle is written in Aerugese, and translates to “By Destruction, Chaos is born.” The blade crossing from right to left is written in Xingese and translates as “From Chaos, comes Unity.”
Addition: In the six spaces between the blades, one may note that there are two of them, the two on the direct left and right, that have something additional written in. One is the modern alchemical symbol for Silicon(a circle with an equilateral triangle inscribed in it)[THINK: Kimblee’s Circle for the Moon, minus the gibbous-like moon in there], the other is the modern Atomic Symbol for Oxygen, a hollow ‘O.’
→ ITEM THE CIRCLE IS ON
The first and second seals use the second inscription of Latin: “Terras. Plures Armis. Committit.” They can be found on Ken’s hands. In his left hand, it is printed onto a simple black, but fingerless glove of leather, with no other distinguishing characteristic. There are multiples of these, but Ken doesn’t carry them all together. In his right hand, the Circle is carved into his palm, rather than tattooed. And if you’re wondering, YES, he did that to himself.
→ This seal is bound by the .5 meter radius rule, as described above. It creates nearly a dozen of Broadswords that fly out of the ground and impale anything too close for comfort. Upon usage(regardless of which hand), there is a momentary delay until Ken can use it again (A post of Ken’s must pass for usage to begin again – So Post 1: Attack. Post 2: Wait. Post 3: Attack, again)
The third seal uses the fourth inscription of Latin: “Terras. Innumerabilis. Armi Contritio. Omnes hostas” It is found on the bottom of the Odachi’s sheathe unlike traditional Japanese sword scabbards, this one is a cylindrical container with an appropriate mold-like hollowed center for the blade to be sheated in. Since it IS cylindrical, it is therefore flat on the bottom, hence the location of the seal. The Odachi is kept strapped onto Ken’s back.
→ This is the most unique of all his seals, in that the range of 7.5 meters is disregarded. Instead, the place where he places the seal is the new origin, and he can direct it into a 120 degree arc outward, the distance covered is only a meter and a half forward, while all land behind Ken is taken for this transmutation. This is the most dangerous of his transmutations and circles, as it has a significantly wider range, but requires he utilize his large unwieldy weapon and have the opponents closeby. In addition, there is a three post delay before Ken can use this again (Post 1: Attack. Post 2,3 &4: Wait. Post 5: Attack), and this can only be done against the ground, meaning he can’t use a building’s materials to fuel it. So, if he’s located above the ground inside a building, this is no longer useful.
The fourth and fifth seals use the first and third inscriptions of Latin: “Terras. Gladium. Committit.” & “Terras. Magna Gladium. Mihi.” The fourth seal, is located on the bottom of his left shoe … all of his shoes. The fifth is located on the bottom of his right. As mentioned earlier, they are located upon the arched area, which forces Ken to have to stomp irritably to initiate a proper transmutation.
→ Unlike the prior two which called forth multiple blades, these two call up only a single blade, though the dimensions of the blade and purpose are entirely different.
The Fourth Circle summons a blade similar to the first Circles, a broadsword, more accurately the double-edged Claymore, but instead of calling it right up, it instead emerges a few centimeters in front of the circle’s position and stabs forward at an angle, aiming to impale an enemy from below, but not vertically. One blade can have a maximum length of 210 centimeters, while the handle/hilt is 20cm. What’s most peculiar is that, unlike the others which try to indiscriminately impale, this one is a more specific attack targeting enemies, and upon it’s completion, Ken is more than happy to grab a hold of its hilt and use it as another weapon, and given how his Alchemical ability can alter chemical structuring of the materials, it can last for a significant amount of time and absorb enough damage to be quite effective. Since it takes up less material from the ground/buildings, the quality is significantly better than those of the previous two Circles, hence why Ken uses these as handheld weapons.
The Fifth Circle summons a blade about thirty centimeters in front of where the Circle was placed. It calls up a blade that is a meter wide, and several centimeters thick out of the ground, reaching a maximum length of 2.5 meters. Unlike the others, which are primarily offensive applications, this is a defensive one, or a diversionary tactic that raises a massive blade vertically upward to serve as a shield for Ken. Again, like the Fourth, it requires less material and therefore is built to last. Very well. It can survive a LOT of low-caliber fire, and last even a few moments against high-powered ballistic projectiles save rocket-propelled explosives or armor-piercing rounds. A human would not find enough physical strength to successfully strike down the barrier with a single blow unless they had a tool or a weapon stronger than the substance and the strength to break through. Often, it’s easier and more time-consuming to just strafe around and attack Ken behind it. This cannot be used as weapon by Ken, though he would love to one day. He could TRY to use this as a weapon, but … it’s blunted. Meaning there is no point to skewer people(No pun intended).
Both the Fourth and Fifth Circles have a one-per-post limit. Meaning there is no delay or wait or cooldown like the previous ones, but he cannot mindlessly spam them.
...........................................................................
SPECIAL ABILITIES:
→ I’d say the Third Circle is the Special Ability, since it’s the only one that doesn’t obey the same conventions and limitations as the others.
