"First Date"

[Dai]

The redhead sighed softly, sitting cross-legged in a chair outside a small cafe in North City. What was he thinking?! Idiot, idiot, idiot! He'd asked Reila on a date! That's what he'd done! But what was he thinking at the time? He sighed, and gloomed slightly - not the smartest of options for him - not today, at least. He looked up into the sky, and leaned back on his chair. At least the weather wasn't too bad. He looked at his left hand and laughed. What made him bring his new glove out today? He was only going on a date...

The redhead was dressed casually, but not... scruffily. He wore a "nice" set of clothing, with a grey wrap shirt, black jacket and black treated jeans. Hell, he'd actually bought these clothes new, rather than resorting to his usual habit of raiding an opshop. And, upon looking in a mirror... Thought that he didn't look too bad! But there was always that feeling of cold steel... His arm, though it didn't really bother him, got him a couple of looks from passersby... And one or two comments...

"Go back to Rush Valley!" Was the least of his worries. He sighed, and lowered his head. Where was she? He had said to meet him here at 11... 'Course, it was kinda 10:30. So, y'know... He had plenty of time to wait. And from the looks of the coffee that sat next to him? He wasn't gonna fall asleep, either. Not that he would anyway, damn insomniac...

[Reila Tsukino]

11:01 Reila glanced away from her watch and continued her sprinting down the salted and yet still icy sidewalks. The cafe should be close. Shit but...!! She looked behind her and the giant thing was still on her tail. People were staring in horror. Camera phones were whipped out and laughter and gasps ensued. Why wasn't anyone using their damn phones to call the police for god's sake?! Reila's heel caught in a huge, three-inch-thick ice patch and she slid like she was on ice skates. OH NO! She fell, the cafe in sight. If only...she had reached it...

Life was so short.

Wait. She looked behind her. Never mind it was still after her. What?! Did it not like everyone else too? She had to be dinner? What was it...oh wait. Could it be the new perfume she had bought for this occasion? She pulled herself up, knees bleeding from her collision with the rough ground. Shakily she attempted to reach the cafe.

Meanwhile...

A large white polar bear with mean black eyes was romping after her with godlike speed. Its claws dug into the cement and rumbled the ground. Passerby fled before its masterful prowess. And Reila...well, ran for her life. She didn't have a second to use alchemy let alone breathe. Not to mention she didn't have her tachi. All she could do was freeze it or trap it in a frozen cage or something. She didn't have time for that!! It's pristine yellow fangs were protruding towards her, flicking drool at her from behind. Ahh!!

She reached an outside table where a head of red screamed Dai!! "Daiiiii!!" She screamed back. "D-do something!!!" She ran past him and further down the shopping district of North City. The polar bear was hot on her trail.

"Tell me that's not what I think it is. Of all the things... It has to be that?!" The redhead sighed, and climbed off of his chair in time to see the strawberry-blonde hair fly past him. He blinked, and sighed, before running after the pair. Yes. He was gonna chase a Polar Bear. Well, why wouldn't he?! It was chasing Reila! He started to run faster, making his way up to the girl... Passing... the... creature... as... he... went. So now he was being chased? He turned to the girl and smiled all goofy-like.

"Uh... HI!" Was all he could say, before turning back and running down the road next to her, the creature gaining with every lumbering step. He brought out a jolt of speed, and looked down. About 10 metres away! A manhole cover... He grinned, and started clicking his fingers hurriedly, building up static... Just enough so that he didn't blow it up instantly. As they reached the cover, he skimmed it with his gloved fingers, and dived to the ground, clicking them the moment the bear ran in front of it.

BOOM. Metal exploded in the creature's face, and it staggered back, uninjured and demoralized. It grunted at the pair, and turned off, lumbering away. Just like that. Strange, how things turned out, huh? Dai turned to Reila and smiled nervously, sniffing the air and opening his eyes up a bit more.

"When I told you to bring something nice... Oh, never mind. You smell nice, though. That new perfume?" WONDERFUL start to their date. Just LOVELY... If he didn't say so himself.

Reila stared as Dai appeared beside her. "Oh hi, you look nice."

"Wait...WHAT are you doing here?! You want to get eaten too?!" Her heel caught in the sidewalk again and she almost plunged forward, but something happened behind her. She turned mid-fall because Reila was awesome like that. And she was just in time to see the creature's face meet metal. HAH! Now he knew what it felt like. And strangely enough...it ran off randomly. How odd... Reila blinked from her place on the ground. Her butt was cold.

"Eh..Dai it...came out of nowhere. It..wanted to eat me!? WHAT THE HELL? That's the last time I wear this perfume. It's not like I bought 'fresh meat' perfume or something jesus!! It was this new brand made by coca~cola...UGH." She started wiping the blood off her knees, elbows and the like. It continued to ooz out obnoxiously like a cut from a razor while shaving. Those SUCKED. She sighed angrily and grinned at Dai. "I would get chased by a polar bear wouldn't I..."

Dai shrugged, and grinned back.

"Hey, happens to some. Better a polar bear than fangirls, at the very least." He winked, and poked out his tongue at the girl, before standing up and holding out a hand to help her stand up. He wasn't very... useful in the closing of the wounds, though. He could only magnetize the iron - fat load of good that'd do for her. He sighed softly, and tilted his head to the side with a smile.

"Wonderful start to our day, huh?" A polar bear. Strange. He shook the thought out of his head, and straightened his clothes so that they actually looked like they were respectable. All the people that had congregated around Reila and Dai's "Running of the Bear" were now leaving, and it seemed that, on this street, they were the only two left. He sighed and laughed. And laughed some more. He couldn't help it! It was seriously still funny!

"I can't believe... we got chased... by a be--UMMPFH!" Snow. Eck. A big load of it too. Off a roof above his head, it seemed. Just his luck - a mouthful of snow. Tasted pretty bad, too.

Reila gasped and covered her mouth. Wait that wasn't snow it was.......

bird shit.

She giggled and kicked at his shin. "Fangirls huh?" That sucked. No, it REALLY sucked. Wait a sec... Innocent golden eyes raised to check out the roof in which the bird shit originated. Along the snow were large pelicans with blue feet and nasty eyes. One made a loud noise and flapped its challenging wings in anger. 'Ho shit no wonder their fanclub left in a flash. This...was a giant nest!! Before Reila could fully pull on Dai's sleeve, they plummeted from the roof at their heads, flashing sharp talons. "RRRRUUNN!!" She cried, clicking off and pulling the unsuspecting, prettily dressed redhead. "What the hell is up with this place dammit!? I need to get Yoshi over here and--" Bird shit splatted on her bangs and dripped down to her nose. "Iyyyyaa!!!" She shrieked, clawing at it to get it off. "Grrroo--" She began and then fell into a man hole. Well, it happened to be the same one whose cover was now missing...

She landed at the bottom in three feet of water waste that looked like someone--no--multiple things died in it. Reila simple sat there, dumbfounded, her long hair flowing behind her in the current of putrid-smelling 'water'. Seriously? No, seriously!?

Bird... shit?

The redhead looked up at the source of the "snow". Yeah, that wasn't snow. That was a fucking pelican. Not just one, either. That was a shitload of pelicans, all ready to release that load of white, gooey feces onto the faces of the pair. And then, oh then it got even better! They started to give chase! So as Dai ran, hurriedly spitting out the shit from his mouth, he managed to make the same mistake as Reila, landing in the wat... whatever it was that was down here. The birds flew over, and as they continued to flap away, he breathed out a sigh of relief...

Even his glove wasn't drenched like he thought it would be! He'd be able to clean himself and Reila off. He climbed up the ladder, and poked his head out of the manhole... the coast was clear. He climbed out of the hole, and held his non-gloved hand out to Reila. As soon as he had pulled her up and out, he put his right hand on her shoulder, and clicked his gloved hand a few times, expanding both his and Reila's magnetic fields, causing the water that covered them to be suspended in midair. As soon as he released the field, it dropped to the ground, leaving the pair dry.

He tilted his head to the side and smiled at Reila, poking out his tongue at her.

"Now that the... uh... distraction? is gone, shall we eat? It's safe to say that this day couldn't get any wor--" He stopped himself in time. No need to jinx things, Dai. No need to jinx them at all.

Reila had to think about this. She could very well go on a date with Dai, but... well... Well, how should she say it... "Dai... you removed the water, but I still reek and I'm covered with dirt. There's...just no way it's going to work..." Suggest something dammit!! She had to invent something fast and it had to be GOOD. "How about we go back to Briggs, I take a shower to rid myself of the laden diseases from sewage waste and then I cook dinner for both of us? It won't be as good as eating out, but... I'll try." She smiled nervously, barely able to move her body for fear of contracting a strange disease, disorder, virus, or more! Reila shuddered, her hair tangled in so many knots around her. Despite being dry, she was a complete mess. She'd almost rather be wet and have it freeze to her that way she could wash it off before it seeped into her skin. Ahh!! It was horrible~

A sigh escaped Dai's lips. Not a sigh of frustration, and not a sigh on anger. This sigh, it was a sigh of relief. Relief in the fact that as much as he did want it to work out, they were going to go back to Briggs and out of the public eye. He wasn't a social person, not to this degree. That, and their ordeal all over North City had caught the eyes of a ton of paparazzi, all who wanted their own picture of the beautiful Head of Fort Briggs. Hell, they might even give Dai himself a run for his money! He nodded a couple of times, and when Reila mentioned that she might even cook, he literally had to hold himself back from drooling. Reila didn't cook often, and she was pretty damn good.

"I'll pitch in too. Make this proper, and stuff." The red-headed Alchemist nodded a few times, and followed the girl back to Briggs, a sly smile on his face. He'd left a nice... present behind for the paparazzi, who were now following closer and closer.

Boom. He clicked his left fingers, and his Alchemy was suddenly activated in a nearby railing, which he had surreptitiously magnetized, and now exploded it right next to the group of clandestine photographers.

"Leave my girlfriend alone, bitches." A quiet mumble in Ishvallan. Time for food... He liked food... And Reila, of course.
