Knowledge is Power. Empty Knowledge is Power.

The Library was always a quiet place. It brought a mood of peace and solitude to whoever stepped inside. Here people could not only study, but also relax and throw away the worries of the outside world.
But not today....

A loud "geh!" traveled across the library. It came from one of the far sections, where a young man stood, near him were 4 piles of books, laying on the floor. The bookcase was half empty, but the lad seemed to be unsatisfied still. It seems the things he was searching for weren't here. He let out an another sigh and spoke to himself, though his voice could be well heard in the whole Library:

"It's hard to find something you really need in this library, desu ne?" - Loki closed the book he was holding and threw it on one of the piles of books. He was looking for some... rare information. In his travels he heard of a tower - a mystical structure that was one of the greatest libraries constructed in this world - this Tower contained all possible knowledge of the old times.
A loud grunt escaped from Loki's lips. Maybe if he wasn't alone - the search would go faster. But no one seemed to visit the far section of the library today. And it was unlikely that he would find a suitable comrade for this task.

Knowledge is Power. Empty Re: Knowledge is Power.

"Almost.....almost" Josef muttered to himself as he strained his body to reach the highest shelf of the bookcase before him. His outstretched hand struggled to grasp the spine of a rather large historical compilation bound in a velvet red cover. In faded silver letters, the spine of the book read 'Tales of the Orient: Expiditions, Discovery, and Lore of the Far East. Dated 1578-1895.'

The centuries of historical information of individuals venturing into the east seemed like a very good read, so Josef couldn't resist the temptation of climbing the bookshelf to get to this gem.

As he strained himself to reach even farther, the tips of his fingers barely brushing against the aged cover, the edge of the shelf he was standing on gave way and collapsed beneath him. Josef plummited to the ground as a mass of books cascaded down on top of him in an avalanche of classic literature.

The sound of the mishap echoed through the library, causing some relaxing visitors to jump in surprise. Josef struggled to free himself from the mountain of books, but the weight was too great and unfortunatly, he found himself at the very bottom of this massive pile. To top it all off, his stomach began to growl in protest as the uncomfortable pain of hunger descended upon him. Maybe it was a really stupid idea to skip breakfast.......

Knowledge is Power. Empty Re: Knowledge is Power.

Suddenly Loki heard a loud noise, his ears heard everything. Seems like somebody fell, or a lot of books fell on somebody. Either way - this was too interesting to pass by.
Loki ran towards the place where the "incident" happened. Then he abruptly stopped and tidied up his clothes. His face resembled a statue - calm and sophisticated. Loki made a few more steps and turned around the corner. There he saw a pile of books, and it seemed someone was buried beneath them, only a single arm could be seen. After a few seconds he came closer and asked with a calm voice, which sounded like an elderly man. Loki once again thanked his powers for the ways they served him.

"What do we have here? Some delinquent who thinks he can turn this library into a mess? What is the meaning of this and most importantly - how are you going to take the responsibility for this?"

Loki could barely hold back from laughing, but oh - he tried so hard. He just wanted to hear the abrupt excuses the guy or girl under the pile of books would make. It was pure fun!

Josef could here the muffled voice of an eldery man through the mess of books. He seemed very upset over the matter, so he must have been a librarian who worked here. "I'm sorry, I'm sorry" Josef pleaded, his voice only partially audible through the cluttered novels and compilations. "I-I swear I'll clean all this up. Please help me out so I can start!" Josef continued, flushing red as he felt like he had failed his duty as a scholar to keep all archives in order when he researched. "I'm really sorry" Josef repeated again. He always acted like this when he felt he had greatly upset someone. Josef waved his arm, which felt like it was free of being trapped under the text, just to make sure the old man knew where he was.

'Guuuuu' Josef's stomach growled in protest and impatience. If he didn't get free and clean up these books soon, he coul end up passing out from hunger!

"Khhhh....ah...haha...hahahaha, BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!" - Loki couldn't help it anymore. He started laughing hard, so hard that perhaps all the Library could hear it, - "-hahahahahaha!! Man, oh man! That was hilarious, oh god!" - Loki grabbed the arm of the guy, he could discern it by his voice when he apologized, and helped him out of the pile of books. As the guy rose he saw that he was somewhere around 18 in age. He had brown hair and his eyes were light gray brown.
He was kinda average, and covered in dust. Loki gave him a wide smile:

"Haha, don't sweat, it was me - I'm just a voice actor, but man - you are deep red, desu ne!?" - Loki chuckled and continued, - "You're lucky I came along. Or perhaps you'd be there for a long time." - Loki pointed at the pile of books and heard as the boy's stomach growled - it was more like a roar actually - "Whoa there! You're not gonna eat me, desu ne?"

Loki made a step back... just in case. Then he remembered he had two sandwiches in his pocket and pulled one out. Then he threw one to the boy. He just hoped he wasn't that much hungry that he would ignore the fact that they were wrapped in paper.

"I'm Loki by the way."

Knowledge is Power. Empty Re: Knowledge is Power.

Josef was just as releived to be pulled out from the suffocating pile of books as he was surprised to be greeted with the unexpected site of a young man, perhaps near the same age as himself, instead of the old librarian he had expected. He was certianly young looking, yet he carried a very aristocratic air about him in the way he dressed. His attire certianly radiated a noble sense that contradicted the plain way that Josef dressed. The way he acted though, it was almost childish, it was an odd combination at best.

Josef's smiled in an awkward and embarrased manner as this wealthy looking boy laughed at him in a amused manner, he wasn't angry at being laughed at, but this probably looked bad on his part, considering he was supposed to be second in command of this entire insitution.

However, all this timid thought was cast away when the man brought out a sandwich. "Thank you" Josef said sincerely as he caught the sandwich the aristocrat tossed to him. His eyes lit up as he unwrapped the sandwich and bit into it, eating as if he hadn't had a morsel to eat for days.

Josef stopped consuming his meal momentarily when the noble looking youth introduced himself. "I'm Josef Draper. I just work here". Josef held out his hand along with an introduction, a formal but friendly way of introducing himself. Josef didn't really specify what he meant by 'here', but he spent so much time helping out in the library and reading the books that he might as well of been the head librarian instead of the second in command of the most well known military institution in Amestris.

"So" Josef spoke as he finished off the last bits of his sandwich with a satisfied smile, "Are you the son of a noble Loki? I'd also want to guess by your name that your family is of a more Northern region. Am I wrong?"

Loki shaked Josef's hand and smiled. This guy worked here... this was fortunate. He heard as Josef voiced his questions about him, and smiled. He had nothing to hide and could tell Josef who his parents were but he decided not to:

"Me? A noble? Not really - no. My parents weren't nobles, but you guessed right about my homeland. I'm Drachman." - Loki thought that perhaps his new aquaintance would be surprised, or maybe not.
Loki glanced at the pile of books and saw one - it was about the East. Interesting.

"So... you work here, huh? So then maybe we could have lunch and maybe you could...uhh... help me, desu ne?" - Loki smiled again. But then the smile suddenly vanished from his face. He heard a group of people coming in this direction. Good thing his hearing greatly exelled that of a human, - "No time to talk - time to jet!" - he grabbed Josef's hand and ran towards the entrance, of course he chose a side route, to evade the group of angry librarians.
As they made it out to the corridor, Loki let go of Josef and smiled:

"Haha, losers - no matter what they do - they can never outsmart a genius, desu ne?" - he elbowed Josef in his right side, - "I bet your reputation would go down if you were caught there. Now... how 'bout that lunch?"

"Well lunch sound really nice, maybe we should go to-" Josef was interrupted as Loki abruptly grabbed him and bolted towards the exit. Josef looked back guiltily at the mess of books they had left behind. "I-I really think that maybe we should just apoligize and clean up" Josef tried to explain to Loki, but his protests went on unheard, or at least, ignored.

"Y-yeah I guess we should go to lunch then" Josef replied, still feeling guilty about leaving the librarians with so much work. Josef glanced down at the book he had tucked under his arm. Well at least he got the book he wanted, he'd go apoligize to the library staff later.

"So your from Drachma, huh?" Josef chirped with hints of intrigue in his voice as they walked to whatever eatery they planned to go to. "I've been to Drachma a few times myself, I really enjoy the summer weather there, it's nice and mild as can be" Josef continued in Drachman, hoping Loki was still in touch with his native culture. "Do others in the military ever give you a hard time about being of Drachman decent?" Josef asked, his earthly gray eyes reflecting his blissful intrigue.

Loki decided to set a course for the Cafeteria nearby. His goal was just a few corridors away, so it would take little time to reach it. On their way Josef started speaking in Drachman, which surprised Loki a little, since not many people studied Drachman throughly. Loki smiled as he remembered his home and his homeland. Yes - he had much fun there, but.... he never viewed Drachma as something he would get tied to. He missed it rarely. He rarely missed anything.
But he still studied and revised Drachman. Now that was a thing he would like to keep:

Drachman: "Sometimes I get treated badly... sometimes not. It really depends on the people. But.... Drachma, Amestris, Xing, Creta - people everywhere are alike." - Loki's face was very serious as he spoke. But as soon as he finished a usual smile came back to his face, - "One thing for certain - the ladies love me. Everywhere I go, most call me cute, others see my true charms of both mind and body." - he winked at the nearby passerby, which turned out to be a lovely secretary from Central. She smiled at him and passed Josef and Loki by.
Loki turned to Josef:

"See what I mean. I'm lovely and cute." - he adjusted his attire, a silver ring, which he wore today in place of his white gloves, and a golden necklace. He always had some jewelery on him. The way he walked too was.... more feminine that most men had. It seemed as if he strided on the floor instead of walking on it.

Knowledge is Power. Empty Re: Knowledge is Power.

Josef nodded slightly in agreement as Loki expressed his thoughts on the issues of such prejudice, Loki seemed to be more thoughtful than he first appeared. However, the conversation seemed to go back to his usual demeanor as he began to brag of his charms and luck at attraction of the opposite sex.

Josef gave a weak smile as the secretary passed them both by. Normally, she would have greeted Josef with a polite 'Good Afternoon Sergeant' or 'Hello Mr. Draper', however he seemed completely invisible to her when in the presences of Loki, who was practically radiating a sense of charming flirtation. Josef didn't really mind though, he hardly ever thought about his rank or about romance. Flirting wasn't really Josef's thing, he hardly ever talked to girls in any other sense than the typical friendly way he adressed everyone. The Sergeant spent so much time absorbed in his books that at the age of 17, never so much as kissed a girl. But this only bothered him slightly, not because of the lack of progress, but for the feeling of lonliness.

"Ummm" Josef muttered, trying to change the subject, as he had no comment to give on whether he though Loki was cute as he said he was. "The mess hall is close by, I'm friends with most of the staff, we can get some great food there." Josef chirped, smiling to himself at the mere thought of food. If it could be said that Josef spent most of his time in the library, then it could be said that his second most frequented place was the mess hall, Josef's appetite was well known in Central HQ.
