DESCRIPTION:
→ Basil grew up believing, and still believes, that he is a vampire. And who would argue with him? He has pale skin from staying inside a day snd the birght red eyes of (a killer vampire oh my gosh!) a person with Ishvallian relatives. He keeps his nails rather long for a boy, though he generally wears gloves so they aren't often seen. A black hat with two long ribbons sits in a gravity defying way atop his messy locks of blonde. The secret to his hat is simply pins, though he would never admit to the obvious. Oh right, I'm sorry. Ahem, the "REAL" reason, in Basil's mind, is that he's a vampire. He uses his "amazing vampire powers" to keep it there. His clothing isn't overly different, though it does fit his whole "vampire" image he wants to assume. He wears fancy jackets of various colors, though most of them have strips on the cuffs simply because he enjoys the look of stripes. His voice alters between a high and happy blubber all the way down to a slow andsoft muttering. His step is quick and with purpose (most of the time). You'll have to catch him if you want to talk.

PERSONALITY:
→ Basil's personality is certainly one of mild interest. Basil, upon first glance, appears to be solemn and antisocial but this is not the case. Well, kind of not anyway.

Basil has split personalities. This branches from the strong belief he has that he is a vampire. Because of this odd belief, he often doesn't sleep and avoids going out in the sun when possible. This belief of being a mythical creature, along with the fact that his "disorder" runs in the family, sets Basil as being just a teeny itty bitty bit odd. (Okay, maybe a lot odd but whatever.)

Because of such insanity, Basil often thinks up strange possibilities and the like. Believing that he is an amazing vampire prophet or something. This may be why he doesn't sleep, as he believes dreams are prophecies and that if a person dreams it, it will come true. Needless to say, Basil finds lizard men and purple water to be terrifying. But it was in a dream, so it MUST be true right? Thankfully he's never had a dream about being able to fly or breathe underwater.

Basil may have strange habits and beliefs, but he isn't stupid. He's actually rather smart on certain topics. A child afraid to go out in the sun has to do something all day. Basil decided books were the best choice and began reading anything and everything. Therefore he's rather well studied on various languages and customs. To show this, he'll sometimes speak sentences in different languages; not to confuse, but for the reason that he just doeant realize he's doing it. He also has this need to speak in any language EXCEPT for Xing, even though he's a Xingese militant...he's complicated.

Basil changed his own name to Basil (he was once called Chao) which makes it obvious that he loves herbs and gardening. Anything he eats must have some form of spice on it. Basil often carries around a bottle of a spice, one for each day of the week.

Just lately, Basil has been getting out of his house more. Probably because he no longer has lack- er, parents, to shop for him so he's forced to get out once in a while. Around strangers, Basil can act any which way. With his different personalities it's always curious to see which one he'll assume. Sometimes he'll walk to the person with a smile and begin conversing with them in a rather outgoing way. Other times, if he's feeling "vampiric" he'll glare at everyone and hurry away in solitude. If someone first speaks to him when he's being all "I'm a vampire. Bleh bleh bleh!" He'll stay silent though he may speak with a stoic voice.

Basil doesn't sleep often, though he has been trying to get more rest in various ways. He'll only take short naps during the day if he can and will hardly ever sleep at night unless he unintentionally passes out at his desk.

Basil, to sum it up, is just odd. His personality is never set in stone and is constantly surprising people, including himself.

HISTORY:
→ Basil grew up in a small town in Xing. As a small child, Basil was certainly odd. Well, not at first anyways. He started out like a normal little baby! He would cry and scream and pee and sleep. Yep, a perfectly normal little baby. Until of course, he stopped doing these things. By the age of one years old, Basil was already changing.
Even as a tiny tot, Basil was set off as being different. He stopped crying and wouldn’t speak. Even when injured, Basil would just blink and carry on, even after a little tiny baby bruise sprung up on his head. His parents were a bit worried, until of course he became a toddler and started to converse more.
They never did think Basil would speak, but they realized he was just a bit “different” when he finally began speaking at the age of four. From there, he learned the alphabet and colors rather quickly. Always ready to get a new piece of information. Pre-K was easy for Basil, he flew through the lessons with speed but would refuse to sleep at nappy times. To this day, Basil still hates sleeping. As a child it was hard to fight the urge of sleep, but as Basil grew older he fought it off for days before passing out from exhaustion at his desk.
His parents later found that he had various personality issues. All of them are too much to delve into so let’s just leave it as that. It was hard for a parent to believe that their son was “different”. Just as it was hard for Basil to believe that he was different. Their son didn’t believe anything was wrong with him. So the child was messed up in the head and was slightly paranoid, that’s totally completely normal.
At the age of eight, Basil had developed the strong belief that he was a vampire and nothing that anyone else said would ever tell him otherwise. He was a vampire and that was that. The child stayed indoors whenever possible and would wear heavy black cloaks and sunglasses. (Yes, his parents bought them for him. They didn’t realize at that time that they were fueling a monster. Pun unintended.)
Herbs were one of the things that Basil found to be interesting. For one that never leaves the house, he sure had fun growing spices. It was his mother that introduced him to the gardening. He quickly fell in love with watching the herbs grow with the help of love and water. His love for such things prompted him to change his name from Chao Bolin to Basil Coriander.
When he wasn’t growing things, Basil would be found at his desk with a book. Mostly language books and other various educational things. He was fascinated with the study of other languages and quickly became fluent in Cretan. This opened up a window to which he needed to leap and soar. (Like a vampire bat. :P) He learned Amestrian quickly after. He’s still studying languages now, though he’s only fluent in the three.
He decided later in life that he wanted to join the military. His “vampire skills” would be quite valuable in the military. Though, to be honest, his parents wanted their psycho son out of the house. The military was the best choice! The book closes here as our vampire buddy leaves the coop and enters the military. What’s in store for him? Well we don’t know for sure just now, but it’s sure to be “interesting”.
