DESCRIPTION:
→ Levi has a pale-gold complexion, a touch darker than his mother’s, and his father’s red eyes. He has a strong build to him, and a broad chin, fitting well with his well-groomed blonde hair. He tends to wear dark clothing, a black trench coat, turtleneck, pants, and military boots making up his standard dress.
The man seems to have a calm look about him at most times, his deep voice seeming to color the words he does speak. He isn’t much for swearing and curses, seeing them as unbefitting of a man in his line of work and power, but does not openly oppose course language from others. Levi is usually a rather quiet man when in public, but when he’s doing research that often changes. Alkahestry amazes him to no end, and he somehow manages to make studying and work look exciting.
If brought into a fight, whether it be a standard bar brawl or something of war, Levi will go in as if it is life or death. Trained in military combat, his movements are fluid, and he usually prefers hand-to-hand over using weapons, though he does carry two standard issue pistols just in case. One thing that some would notice as a hole in his defenses is that he will choose to go for kicks more often than punches, giving his upper body far more coverage than his lower.

PERSONALITY:
→ Levi is a very calm man in public, leaving little open about himself with his movements, and having little to no quirks or habits to read. Even his walking seems mechanical, but this is simply how he allows himself to be viewed, and is a product of how he was treated by, the man he no longer refers to as, his father. Highly tenacious about new ideas and developments, the man has more going on within his mind than he lets on. He wishes to make his home country a better place, even if his blood will not allow him to take the throne. Completely oblivious to the wrongs he does in his research, he keeps his conscious clean with thoughts of stepping forward and bringing Creta into a better future.
When encountered one on one, no one would suspect Levi of being anything more than a levelheaded scientist with high hopes and amazing ideas and goals. He talks slowly and softly, giving a professional air about him, and seems to be a gentle lion amongst the violence and turmoil in the world in a metaphorical view. Speeches come to him naturally, as do lectures and presentations, proving his is a mind with few rivals.
When alone, however, Levi delves into his research with no precautions to hazards or taboo. Alchemy and Alkahestry have no boundaries in his mind, and the only law besides equivalent exchange that he dares not tread across is trying to bring back a human soul from the dead. Everything else seems fair game to him, and he holds quite the sociopathic standpoint in this regard. He still holds realization that these things are not to be mentioned in public or around authority figures, but this does not change the fact that his secrets are vast in number.

HISTORY:
→ Donald Levi Ascot-Fazir was born to his parents several years after his sister. A rather odd birth, the doctors took note of the child’s crimson eyes. When mentioned to his “father”, the man ran to his mother, head flooded with questions. His deepest fear of the situation proved true. His wife had been with another man. She would not give the Ishvallan’s first name, only his last, which was then added to the newborn’s birth certificate, after his step-father’s own surname.
Levi was never told of this as a child, only that his having a second last name was “something special”. Of course, the man he called ‘daddy’ said otherwise. The boy was treated poorly by all but his mother and sister growing up, his elder sibling gaining far more praise and attention from their paternal figure. As Levi grew, so did his piercing eyes. He grew to long for his father’s praise, and tried his hardest in school, gaining top grades in all of his classes. The epitome of a child prodigy was the terms he and his parents were given by the teachers. Still his father’s attention never seemed to grow any more positive.
By the end of high school, Levi was offered several scholarships, but one stuck out more to him than the rest. A prestigious opportunity was put before him, a university which promised him the highest of studies in Science, Alchemy, and Alkahestry, and because of his great mind they were willing to allow him to attend paid in full. The only problem was that the school was located in Western Amestris, rather close to the Amestria-Creta border, but the boy, soon to become a man, wouldn’t allow this to stop him. Making the move, he packed his belongings and kissed his mother goodbye, a hug for his sister, and nothing for his father. The man deserved no goodbye, and deserved no title. Frederick Ascot was no father to him anymore.
The university, paid for by both the Amestrian and Cretan governments, made no lie when they said they offered an amazing amount of material and courses in the sciences. Taking a major in Alkahestry Theory and Ethics, Levi also minored in Alchemy Research, a degree which would require six years’ worth of courses to complete. The boy had a greater goal, however. He would graduate in four.
Close to achieving this goal, Levi encountered someone who would change his life forever. He still had four classes to complete before he could earn his degree, but while walking back to his apartment he stumbled upon a boy. Dirty black hair and a look of defeat, as well as wearing nothing but tattered rags for clothing and no shoes. Crouching next to the child, he asked him his name. The kid told him about how his parents had been killed in a minor conflict with Drachma, the two of them had been stationed there, his father a soldier and his mother a doctor. After this story, tears began to swell up in both their eyes. Levi picked up the boy and held him close.
”Everything will be alright now… Randolph.”
The adoption process was simple enough, even with Levi still being in school. He had proven to the government that he could provide a suitable home for Randolph, and the boy was more than willing to live with who would soon be his new father. Finishing his classes, the man, now 22 years old, decided it was time to return home. To give his son a new home.
Arriving back in Philly, Levi was able to find work quickly, and the two of them moved from another apartment into a small home. Not bothering to send Randolph to a public or private school, he taught the boy himself, homeschooling him with great ease. During the day Levi would go to work at the research center in the city while his mother babysat for him, and in the evening he would return to give his son a new lecture. Even now his mother supported him and gave as much love to Randolph as she had her own flesh and blood.
Many years passed, and once Randolph had no more basic schooling to learn and had grown into a fine young man, Levi took him on as his apprentice, teaching him the ways of Alchemy and Alkahestry. His son proved quite capable around the labs, and it wasn’t long before he was helping his father with his research. It was a dark day that came upon them before Randolph’s eighteenth birthday though. While going through the Creta library, the two of them found a book detailing Alchemy which Levi had not been taught while in West City. This book, written by a Shou Tucker, was close to being in shambles, but detailed the process of merging two life forms into a single being. It was essentially a cookbook for how to make the perfect Chimera.
The two of them shrugged it off, but the topics still rattled within Levi’s mind. If he could create chimerae and present them to the government, his research alongside could give him great power in his field. Two nights later, he gave in to temptation. Sedating Randolph, the man took him to his personal lab and began work. With his Alkahestry he was able to use the boy’s stem cells from his bone marrow and cartilage to heal incisions made and reform the boy’s body. A year passed, Randolph none the wiser during the day that these tests took place at night, no scars being left due to his father’s brilliant technique. Then came the final night of these tests.
Levi was prepared to test his research and theory. Being allowed to move between Amestris and Creta freely, he first went to North City. Before nightfall he sedated Randolph a final time, taking him to a bunker in the northern forests he had hired an old college buddy to build several months prior, and also meet him there this night. The researcher couldn’t risk being discovered, but he needed someone who could use this sort of alchemy. A new transmutation circle formed to fit his needs, he drew it upon the table at the center and laid his son on top. The alchemy made a brilliant spark as it activated, and energy swirled, engulfing both the boy and the various pieces of sharks (which Levi decided was the perfect animal to start with considering their energy and strength) the man had gathered and bought.
Just as the transmutation finished, Levi heard a terrible sound. The barking of hounds. Not knowing exactly what to do, he looked to Randolph, whose hair was now a pale white. He would get him back eventually, he swore, before he and his partner bolted out of the bunker and ran back to the main road. Luckily they had not been spotted.
Upon his return to Creta, Levi was offered a position in the Parliament, for all of his help with Creta’s Alchemy and Alkahestry research and development. He accepted the offer, trying to get back to a normal life. When asked about his son, the man only told that he had decided to stay in Amestris to study there. Several months passed, and word arrived of the Prime Minister’s failing health and comatose state. The members of Parliament put Levi up as their recommendation for a replacement if necessary. They claimed to see great things to come from his tenacity and intelligence. This proved he was greatly trusted within the government. However, the House of Lords refused to see him due to his Ishvallan blood. They said if the man was to lead, he would do so only within the country. They needed a legitimate child of Cretan descent to act as the new figurehead. Levi was then given his options:
Find someone worthy of such a position on the throne… or lose his eligibility to be the Prime Minister.
