DESCRIPTION:
→ Remi possesses a certain youthful vitality to his appearance. For one, he has an incredibly lanky figure which, despite his age and muscle mass, has never quite filled out. His face is narrow and his nose, straight and long, is a dominating feature. Characteristic of his animal side, he has slightly pointed ears that possess an aura of impishness. The most notable thing about Remi's appearance is his albinism. Born with the condition, his skin is remarkably pale, almost ghostly. That being the case, it is not uncommon to see him with freckles or a sunburn. His bleach blonde hair provides a vivacious contrast, however, often resembling the shape of a lit flame (and probably just as untamed). Remi's eyes are a soft red in colour as a result of his albinism and quaver when he is nervous or experiencing emotion (a product of nystagmus, a disease causing involuntary eye movement also associated with albinism).

As far as Remi's attire is concerned, he is normally seen in a faux-leather vest and utility pants for comfort. His vest in particular is made of a stretchy polyester that does not become uncomfortable when he transforms so he is rarely seen without it. The vest itself has a high collar (often folded over) and an open v-neck accented with a pale blue stripe down the middle and various metal clasps for decoration. On his arms he usually wears matching fingerless gloves, though they've often been accused of being girly for extending past his elbows. Sometimes he will wear grey bracers. As for his pants, they are a standard teal colour and equally adjustable with some pockets for storage. Around his waist, Remi keeps criss-crossed belts to hold weapons and other items.

In his chimera form, Remi takes on the appearance of a bipedal arctic wolf. His fur is thick and white and he grows long black nails. His nose is pink (since he is albino) and his eyes retain their red colour. Though Remi's fur in this form helps to fill out his body, he is still incredibly lanky and his ears are unusually tall. Despite his quirky shape, Remi possesses incredible strength and speed in his transformed state. His claws and teeth become excellent weapons and make easy work of human flesh/light fabrics. His frame and personality have earned him the nickname 'the White Jackal' in this state.

PERSONALITY:
→ Remi is somewhat of a jokester and he rarely takes life seriously. He kind of looks like a kid...but he definitely acts like one. Having been raised by a family of 'free-spirits', he is incredibly laid back to the point that most wouldn't hesitate to call him lazy. He has no regard for punctuality or manners, even around the opposite sex. Suffice to say, he is undisciplined and that is generally the way he goes about life: doing as he feels.

Though typically kind in a first meeting situation, Remi is devious. He has no qualms about manipulating people for his own gain or pretending to like something to win someone's favour. He deeply enjoys mischief to the point where he'd happily play both sides just to see what would happen. He isn't cruel enough to call other people pawns, but he does not value them much above the term 'plaything' and may treat them as such. At the end of the day, Remi's allegiances lie with those he deems the strongest. Whether that means siding with a wealthy king or a powerful warrior, he embraces cowardice as a means of survival. He is essentially 'for hire' - if one can promise him the things he wants, he will do what he has to without regard for that might entail.

Even in dire situations, Remi doesn't usually show a lot of seriousness. In the case of his life being threatened, he usually relies on his chimera form to protect him. He is usually very swift in this form and his senses are heightened but he is more likely to toy with an opponent than straight up defend himself. Though well in-tune with his own physical limitations, he often underestimates the power of others (especially alchemists) so it usually gets him into trouble...

→ Though Remi pretends to be a self-sufficient adult, he really and truly is as he appears: an overgrown child. As such, he just wants to find someone to love him for all of his flaws (and there are a lot of them). He has a deep distrust in the law which has affected all portions of his life including his ability to love and bond with other people in a genuine fashion. His family is the only thing he truly holds allegiance to - something he'd never divulge.

HISTORY:
→ Remi grew up an only child to two eccentric parents: Renee and Xavier Maxence. From a young age, he was reared into an unconventional lifestyle. For one, Renee and Xavier didn't believe in disciplining their child. Secondly, they ran a small-scale circus for a living. Though they were surrounded by the fantastical and grandiose walls of Vaingloria, the Maxence family looked more like a bunch of hippies stuck in the wrong place and as such they were rather poor. Remi's parents were originally from a rural town south of the famous Mt. Jilliane where strange individuals were more wholly embraced. Unfortunately, due to monetary issues, Renee and Xavier were forced to move when Renee realized she was pregnant. For the betterment of their future child, they up and left and pursued careers in the big city.

By the age of 5, Remi was already a circus hand. He helped tend to the few animals his parents possessed while they performed shows in the city square, a job he came to thoroughly enjoy. Not long after, Remi found love in a woolly camel he liked to call his Cherie (Cherie is French for 'dear'). For a young kid longing for companionship, the ever-silent Cherie was the perfect pet. Poor-sighted and sickly as a child, it was hard for him to keep up with other children and he was often ridiculed for his weird physical traits. It was at this stage of his life where he began to lose trust for other people, especially the nobles, who often gawked at his parents' show without paying a dime.

At age 10, times grew rougher for the Maxence family. Attendance was at an all-time low and Remi's parents knew they weren't getting any younger. In a drastic bid for attention, Renee and Xavier sought out the help of an alchemist. They loved their child so deeply that they would willingly subject themselves to experimentation in an effort to earn more money. Many consultations ended in disappointment, however. Any of the alchemists they consulted were unreliable; some had been creators of the first generation of Chimera, a route neither Renee nor Xavier could take. Unable to do much else, Remi and his parents were forced to leave their lives in Gelemorte behind. Smuggling themselves aboard a transoceanic ship, they arrived in Drachma shortly after Remi turned 16.

In Drachma, Remi's family finally found some success. After years of financial hardship, Xavier and Renee began careers in Moscow working on The Fourth Transport freeway. Money was still tight but they managed to afford a small home just outside the city limits. Things finally seemed to be coming together. Sadly, bad fortune struck again. One day, on the construction site, Remi's mother was injured in an accident. The prognosis seemed positive at first: Renee had broken both of her legs but she would recover. What the doctors hadn't realized, though, was that a disc in Renee's spine had ruptured. Unable to afford the surgery, she was confined to a wheelchair. Devastated, Remi vowed to take her place and provide for her.

Providing for his parents eventually lead Remi down a similar path his parents had once took...one that lead to an alchemist. Knowing he was weak and incapable of a labour job, Remi put his life in the hands of a Chimera doctor. By this time, at age 18, Generation III had been perfected. And so Remi became one of them. He was faster. He was stronger. He could see again (yay). Neglecting the changes in his body was a chore, however it was a chore he was willing to bear. New cravings and new senses took a backseat to Remi's plan; he knew what he owed to his parents. Eventually, he saved the money for his mother's surgery and she was able to walk again.

Some years after, Remi's father retired. Whisking Renee to a cottage in the wilderness, the two adopted a lifestyle in which they could remain hidden from the corruption of the city. Still unaware of their son's new 'condition', they insisted that Remi live his own life. Taking their advice to heart, Remi decided he would follow his own rules and create a better life for himself. All the while, he guarded his parents' secret with his life.

TRIVIA:
→ Remi is albino, as mentioned above. He gets burned real easily in the sun. He was born this way (queue Lady Gaga).
→ Remi has nystagma, a condition common in albino people. It causes involuntary eye movements (sometimes moving side to side or quivering). For the sake of his character, I have these movements occur when he is nervous or experiencing emotion. It probably happens when he gets really excited too.
→ Remi's wolf genes have improved his otherwise poor eyesight but he still experiences photosensitivity.
→ Remi goes by the 'White Jackal' because even though he is part wolf, he looks more like an ivory Anubis.
→ No cat in the history of the world has ever liked Remi. Even before he was half canine.
→ Remi is fluent in a few languages: Rouenian (Gelemortian Dialect; spoken in red - his native tongue), Cerisian (spoken in green) and Drachman (spoken in blue, learned after he moved there). He has grasped some of the Cretan language (spoken in yellow) but it sounds god-awful. He has a French-Canadian accent and uses a lot of slang.

→ Well I *was* going to brief you on my last visit to the lavatory but since that isn't allowed, I'd just like to add that Remi is kind of inspired by Deadpool and his randomness. I'm definitely fond of a chaotic/conflicting character but the brooding ones tend to get a bit dry (I have played many really really evil and really really emo charries before). Remi is meant to be fun, if not a little bit sinister at times ;x
