DESCRIPTION:
→ Mariska's hair is almond brown with honey colored streaks running through it. Her hair is also very naturally curly, but becomes perfectly wavy for her bangs. She only trusts herself to cut it though. Her skin is a light bronze from spending time in places like Risembool that have a lot of sun. Oddly enough, her eyes are an arctic icy blue and betray her by revealing her emotions to anyone looking. She dresses professionally when working, which is most of the time, formally when the situation calls for it, but she'll wear rather stylish casual clothes when she isn't working or is simply enjoying the company of others. No matter what, she walks with purpose. This is the case even when she isn't sure of her next move. Her voice, which can be strict, is also capable of being joyful, caring or full of laughter or fear. In the way her voice and eyes can represent her emotions, she can sometimes be her own worst enemy.

PERSONALITY:
→ Mariska is ultimately kind hearted. She will do anything to protect friends and loved ones and often places her own life on the back burner when anyone is in danger.Yet, she also has a side of her that aims to remain distant and keep as many people out of her life as possible. This often fails, but is the result of her father's death when she was ten. Her father taught her alchemy, and she has become a widely known freelance alchemist. A job she is highly dedicated to. Although, she is prepared to one day quit her freelancing should she pass the exam and become a State Alchemist. Mariska's main goal in life is to rid the military of obvious corruption and to make it a respectable force that will not only care for the people of Amestris but represent them honorably.
→ Mariska's father had been a Major in the military, a State Alchemist at that. The people loved him dearly, and he had done anything to do right by them. But when Mariska was 10, her father was killed on a mission to Xing. His best friend betrayed him and Amestris. From this she has learned not to trust everyone, but she is naturally too friendly and ends up trusting people anyway. She vowed over her father's grave that she would one day take his place as The People's Alchemist and rid at least the Amestris military of corruption, no matter the cost. All to do right by her father: Reynold Erikson Raine.
→ Mariska believes her own life to be of less value in comparison to others. Her mother tried desperately to change this, but failed. Mariska thinks this way because she believes that her own life is an easy sacrifice to make if it can save another life or even many lives. She refuses to kill anyone because she thinks people are inherently good and kind, but fall victim to the temptations of evil things. She has no issues with sending them to jail or prison or have the military execute them, but she refuses to kill anyone herself. Mariska has many friends, but is suspiciously private, making those around her believe there are things about herself that she may never be willing to tell anyone.

I have arrived in Xing only an hour ago, and there is much to do, but there is also something you and one day Mariska must know. It is no coincidence that both I and Sigmund have been assigned here. You need to know that I most likely will never see you and our daughter again. Sigmund will betray me, but I do not yet know who in the higher ups is pulling his strings. I need to figure this out, even if it means a face off with my once dear friend. If I can at least bring about justice, then my life is but a small price which I must pay. Know that I love you both dearly, and tell Mariska everyday that I love her with all that I am. I hope to see you again.

→Ever since this discovery Mariska and her mother had a falling out, during which Mariska moved to Central and began her freelance Alchemy business. Her mother, all too understanding, stayed in Risembool hoping that one day her and her daughter could make peace.

IDOL:
→ Mariska's idolizes her father, whom she believes did the right thing no matter what. Her entire personality is centered around her fathers ideals, which she hopes to use to benefit the entire nation of Amestris.

HISTORY:
→ With Mariska's father being in the military, her mother moved a lot to be with him on missions that would take more than a month. Due to this, Mariska was born in New Optain while her father was assigned there for a 6 month mission. As the daughter of an alchemist, she quickly picked up on the science that her father happily taught her. By age 10, she was skilled in alchemy dealing with earth and metals, both metal objects and metals in the ground. This ended up being her specialty. Shortly after her 10th birthday, her father was assigned to Xing on a 3 week mission. Since he wouldn't be gone long, Mariska and her mother stayed in Risembool, Major Raine's previous assignment location. But 6 days after his expected arrival in Xing, a military official arrived on their door step to inform them that Major Reynold Erikson Raine had been betrayed by another Amestrian official, Sigmund Aeris, who Mariska knew was her father's closest friend. She had considered the man to be like an Uncle. Sigmund turned out to be a spy for Drachma. From this, Mariska learned not to full trust anyone, even those closest.
→ At Reynold's funeral, Mariska vowed to follow in his footsteps, and one day rid the military of its obvious corruption. She trained rigorously, with her alchemy and has become one of the best alchemists in Amestris. At age 16, her and her mother had a falling out, and Mariska still hasn't forgiven her for what she believes to be the ultimate betrayal to her father.

- Your username should reflect your character's name.

- User picture should represent the one you're using for your character.

- Personality is not a history, so if you want to put in historical tidbits, keep them to a minimum and relevant. So yeah, what happened to her father should go to history. Also, how could she have many friends yet she is distant at the same time and friendly at the same time? That's quite the paradox if she doesn't trust anyone. Also, friends in the forum are judged in RP, not in the personality. It should be your interaction to the world, not the world's interaction to you specifically.

- Falling out with your mother after finding a secret OF the mother, not Mariska's secret itself, is not a deep secret. Deep secret should be something that isn't exactly something you discovered and stumbled upon. But something intimately personal to your character's. Also if you're using bullet points, try not to use it at every new paragraph if they are in the same subject.

- Your history has 264 words, you need a minimum of 450 at least.

- You cannot be the BEST alchemist in Amestris, as there are many better ones in their particular fields, you'd have to level up for that. Also your age is FAR TOO YOUNG for an alchemist. Edward himself was an exception to the rule, but otherwise, raise the age bar for alchemy at least. Also, please explain further about your history than the briefest of highlights. There should be more to a person's history than learning kick butt skills and alchemy, and a betrayal. Fluff it up is what I am saying.

- Alchemy is a bit paradoxical, no? If there are excruciatingly sharp points meant to impale, then how is it that they aren't meant to kill if they are designed clearly for such a function? Also fifty spear heads is too much. Lessen that number A LOT. A quarter or so would be fine.
