FULL NAME:
→ Dharc Icarus
AGE:
→ Unknown
SEX:
→ Male
BIRTH PLACE:
→ Unknown (Amestris)
RACE/SPECIES:
→ Unknown (Amestrian)
DATE OF BIRTH:
→ Unknown

HEIGHT:
→ 171.18 cm
WEIGHT:
→ 59.32 kg

- Spoiler:
DESCRIPTION:
→ To describe his skin color, Dharc has a light complexion, slightly tanned from his time within the desert and Ishval. He always had the habit of being within the great outdoors for quite a few hours of the day, and so his tan has carried on through the years, though it is not as pronounced as before. The boy has black eyes, like the moon as it goes through a lunar eclipse. He has dark hair that he likes to keep long, sometimes down to the middle of his back, and on occasion, in a ponytail. His bangs can sometimes cover his eyes if he is not careful. His hair grows back quickly if he cuts it, so sometimes he does cut it just to test out his appearance.
On a normal day, Dharc will wear a grey-ish outfit consisting of a shirt and shorts that stop at about the knee. On his right leg there lies a pouch used to contain items, as Dharc's outfits usually do not have pockets. Visible upon his forearms and ankles are bandages that can be assumed to travel further up his body, and on his neck there lies a grey-ish choker like object. Over his torso Dharc typically wears a rather worn looking tan colored cloak that is rather light. The cloak features a hood, as well as a rather torn appearance towards the end. What can be inferred to be a shackle is ever present on Dharc's left wrist, and though it can be easily removed, he keeps it there for use in his alchemy. One final surprise for emergencies. On more formal occasions, one would notice that Dharc at least puts an effort into trying to appear in more formal wear. However, lacking Xanthus' 'resources,' his' outfits lack the 'I'm richer than you by far' look, typically being as simple as button-up collared shirts, slacks, a belt, and nice shoes. A tie is typically added for really formal events. Ask him to put on a tuxedo however, and he will probably give you a strange look.
...........................................................................
PERSONALITY:
→ On a normal day, Dharc can be seen as being mature and serious and then turning around to become somewhat immature and playful, almost to the point where some wonder if he has two personalities, though this is more than likely due to the fact that he's only a teenager, nineteen at max. More results of his youth are his fascination and intense love of virtually anything sweet and his tendency to glomp certain people upon sight, including his brother and people whom he likes. The boy is however possessed of a certain envious nature; he becomes easily jealous of other people, this becoming particularly evident when someone steals the attention of someone that he likes away from him.
Dharc dislikes arrogance, because he sees it as the downfall of many a great man and woman. However, he does have a lot of self confidence, which is evident when he is on missions, or even when he is simply training with others by way of his commanding, nonchalant aura. But, he does have a weakness in his shell, being that he is somewhat shy, especially around girls his age. This is perhaps because of the fact that he is still young. However, if he can get around his shyness, he can either become something of a flirt, or he'll become instantly a more 'chill' version of his normal self; either way, amusement is often guaranteed by his 'antics.'
Dharc is cunning, clever, and analytical, making him one Amestrian that is not to be trifled with. Though he prefers to sit on the sidelines and direct battles from there, perhaps throwing in some long distance attacks with his alchemy, he has no problem with wading into the thick of whatever battle he happens to be a part of. And he almost never goes into a situation without a plan, regardless of how bad the situation seems to be.
LOVE:
→ Ishval Ruins, Xerxes Ruins, Xanthus Icarus, Candy, Studying
HATE:
→ People threatening his friends, bitter things, his amnesia, people hurting his friends in any way, interruptions
DEEPEST SECRET:
→ He remembers nothing from before he was found in the Xerxes Ruins, and though he can talk about it, he mostly prefers not to.
IDOL:
→ Xanthus Icarus/Reila Tsukino
...........................................................................
HISTORY:
→ Where Dharc's story begins none can say, not even the boy himself. His debilitating amnesia forbids him from remembering anything further than when Xanthus Icarus discovered him within the Xerxes Ruins. Years ago, before Xanthus had even officially joined with the military, he had taken a trip into the desert. He had been going with the intent to research the Xerxes Ruins, simply out of scholarly curiosity as it were. One could almost imagine his surprise then, when he discovered a half-dead boy sprawled out upon the rocks. Using his alchemical control over water, the then alchemist kept the boy alive long enough to take him back to his parents abode in Ishval. Draining the sparse water out of the atmosphere around him for hours on end to keep the boy with some semblance of health however, had drained Icarus of quite a huge mass of energy, and he succumbed to his own fatigue soon after reaching the sanctuary. Thus it was that when Dharc awakened, his first sight was the tired but pleased face of Xanthus Icarus, who greeted him with a cheerful 'good morning.' This was done of course, directly before he himself fell asleep, tired from his own exertions.
The young boy soon adapted to life amongst the Icarus family, who treated him as one of their own. His transition to life within their small town in Ishval was seamless, and it would have seemed to any onlooker that he had been with the family for his entire life. Thus it did not come as a shock to anyone when he was officially adopted by the intellectual family, and took on the surname 'Icarus.' This having been done, Xanthus himself began to teach his little brother the basic concepts of Alchemy, using books that he had earned, stolen, and bought through the years. Dharc was a fast learner, and was apparently gifted with a natural talent for absorbing the tenants of alchemy like an Ishvalan sponge. This only served to make Xanthus desire to teach his young brother/pupil more, and such was their relationship for some time; teacher and student, big brother and little brother, mentor and apprentice.
Years passed, and Xanthus went to the military, leaving Dharc in the care of their parents. He left behind more advanced alchemy books than what Dharc was aware existed, and sent more homewards periodically. Featured within many of them were small notes left behind by the older Ishvallan, many of whom were addressed specifically to Dharc. Though the majority of them were simply small brotherly jokes, or were notes meant to make the reading of the books easier, sometimes a more serious note would appear detailing an 'alchemy whose limit was defined by the imagination.' This was apparently Xanthus' own personal alchemy of choice, and he wanted his little brother to learn it. Xanthus referred to it as 'the Lost Art,' whenever he had to give it a name, and judging by his handwriting was rather excited whenever he made a breakthrough. Whenever the older Ishvallan would visit, the brothers would discuss brotherly topics before descending into research for a while before again discussing brotherly topics. This pattern would continue until Xanthus would leave again on military duties.
More time passed, and Xanthus visited Dharc for what would be the last time. He looked rather different, and when he explained exactly why, the boy had some difficulty wrapping his mind around the explanation. Xanthus had become Pride, a homunculus from legend. Eventually however, he accepted Xanthus' explanation as the truth, but wondered why he had been told this. 'Because I need you to take my place. That power that we researched? I can't use it anymore, so I'm going to give you that power, and I want you to use it to...pardon the cliche, but I want you to use it to help save the world. I'll go into the details later, but you are frankly the only one who I can trust to actually fully take my place. Do you want to or not?' It takes no stretch of the imagination to guess that Dharc accepted the power, and the burdens that were sure to come with it. Xanthus marked his little brother with the intricate 'Lost Art' style tattoos that formerly graced his own body, using his own shadows similarly to ink pens to make the lines perfect. Days the process was complete, the brothers Icarus strode out of Ishval together, heading for the nearest Amestrian military base. All the while Xanthus mused aloud at what his 'friends up North' would think when they discovered that a second Icarus had joined the fun.
...........................................................................
ALCHEMIC/ALKAHESTRIC ABILITY:
→ Dharc does not use a simple transmutation circle. Rather, his entire body is covered in an intricate array of tattoos that form nine circles at certain parts of his body. These are connected by patterned lines that crisscross about over his frame. These lines are super thin, and are typically invisible unless one is extremely close; observations would denote that the lines are much to thin to have been placed there by normal means. These lines and circles glow when Dharc performs alchemy, signifying the exact power that is being put into the exertion by glowing brighter as the magnitude of the alchemy is increased. The actual circles are located on Dharc's head(1), chest(1), shoulders(2), back(1), palms(2), and feet(2). Using the tattoo, he does not have to waste time drawing a circle, instead being able to use his alchemy in the same manner as Scar; meaning that he need only touch the appropriate area to the ground (or any surface being transmuted upon) that is being used for the desired effect. The reason that the circles are in nine different areas with lines connecting them is that the alchemic power needs to be able to flow smoothly throughout Dharc's body in order to effectively operate. At the first level of Dharc's experience, he is capable of performing reconstructive alchemy on surfaces that he has prior knowledge concerning. One example might be shaping the ground in front of him into an earthen barrier.
...........................................................................
TRIVIA:
→ Dharc has Amnesia which keeps him from remembering much of anything about his life before Xanthus discovered him.
→ Though Xan has been tutoring Dharc in all of the languages, he only understands the basics of said languages, and is only fluent in Amestrian and Ishvalan.

Re: Dharc
INQUIRY
How exactly does he still have alchemy? I reckon you've probably gotten the go-ahead from someone other than me during my absence, so I'm just waiting for an explanation before I go further into any process of judgement.
I hope you're trying not to slip this past me, Xan. I hear that you've been told in the box that Lyte wasn't allowed to have alchemy any more, and he's given up his stone - that means he's just a regular chimera, now. C'mon, you know how things work.

Re: Dharc
I do not try to slip things past any one anymore. I don't do work like that. ^^ Anyway, I was in fact NOT told anything of the sort in the box. Reila said that removing his Philosopher's Stone would be a simple task, and that is it. He would keep his alchemy because he did not get it from the Stone itself, but from the natural source of alchemy. His Gate still exists, therefore his power supply is still available to him. On another note, it is firmly established in the canon that it is literally impossible to separate a chimera that is of a certain generation (level.)
Lyte is undoubtedly beyond that level, and so it would be impossible to separate him from his chimeric nature. I am perfectly aware of how things work for character creation, but this is not a character that I'm creating, but a character that was created, modified in the RP, archived, and who is now being brought back. Now then, who said that alchemy was a no-go? And when did they say it? I recall fairly well that the alchemy conversation was actually about Xanthus Icarus not being able to use his alchemy to heal Lyte. However I do not recall what you are saying? ^^
Sorry about the lateness of this reply. I didn't even know that anyone had replied. ^^;

R E V I S E
I'm giving you two options here, Xan. You can keep Lyte as a Chimera without a Bearer's stone, however you WILL lose Alchemy. The very fact that he is a Chimera now means that his access to the Gate has been sealed off.
If I were to explain it quite simply, each Alchemist has access to a "Gate" in their soul, which every human has, but not all can access. Now, when you become a Chimera, this disrupts the connection to the Gate, due to forging an animal's soul with a human's. How a BEARER works is that a Philosopher's Stone forces access into the Gate through other means, which is why using Alchemy tends to take away from their life force, since it's effectively trying to call up the Gate with a tainted soul. (At least, this is how I see it)
Your other option is to start again with a clean slate. Bring Lyte in as if he had never been a character before, starting completely anew. No connections, no relationships, nothing. He would be able to be human with Alchemy, but he wouldn't know anyone aside from Xanthus. Level 1, all that jazz.
So, Xan. What will you choose? No Alchemy, but interactions? Or Alchemy, but nothing else?

Re: Dharc
Oh, sorry about that Dai. I discussed it with Reila, and Lyte is staying within RIOTE as a Bearer. Ha ha ha...my bad...^^; So much trouble I'm causing with this app. ^^;;

Re: Dharc
You know what? After thinking it over for a bit, I've realized that it would make a few lives quite a bit easier (especially my own), if I just restarted him. I'll take Dai's offer of a clean slate. Lv. 1 Alchemist Lyte...AND FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, GRAVITY MANIPULATION IS MORE TROUBLE THAN IT IS WORTH. SO I AM GIVING THAT UP FOR SOMETHING MUCH MORE BASIC. Namely, basic alchemy. ^^ You may commence hating me now. ^^;

Re: Dharc
Can I note that unless this is a WIP - which it should be noted if it is - then your entire alchemy section's somewhat redundant; it doesn't explain actually what the alchemy does. I'm guessing you're still deciding on this - and obviously, sorry if you are, haha, just thought I'd point it out on the offchance you're not.

Re: Dharc
Sorry about that. It's been a while since I tried to make an alchemist. ^^; I added an addendum specifying what Dharc is capable of doing at the moment.

{REVISE}
- Personality is 17 words short.
- I realize construction alchemy is canon with the show, but I would lean towards him only being able to do one of the three things you listed. Either reconstruct something, create something, or else change the shape. One of those please!

Re: Dharc
Alrighty then. Personality fixed, and now I think that I'm going to branch out into a different kind of alchemy. If you watched the original anime, then you'll recognize it as Lyra's before she became Dante.

{REIVSE}
It's just the alchemy. I'm sorry, but thats it. Condensing air into liquid is one ability in itself. Start at that, then work your way up.

Re: Dharc
Sorry, but now I'm confused. He isn't turning massive amounts of air into any amounts of liquid. The process is done instantaneously, and results in the shockwave, which is the actual ability. The condensing is just the method, and happens so fast that it isn't even noticeable unless one happens to already understand what's going on.
On a side note, precisely what would one do with a condensation ability? Turn vapor into water...and then...? "Condensing air into liquid is one ability in itself." < (How so?)

Re: Dharc
[Clarifications]
"Condensation" is essential to what you're trying to pull off, but only one element of it. You are not turning vapor into water but, rather, the air into a liquid form (try to use consistent terminology, if at all possible).
You see, in order to turn a gas into a liquid, you need two things: to be below a certain temperature, and to compress it somehow (alchemy, in this case). If you're not under the right temperature, then the gas won't turn into a liquid, no matter how much pressure you put (think of a tank full of propane being thrown into a fire). Conversely, even if you're below the right temperature, it won't condense into a liquid if you don't compress it with enough force. Thus, one cannot work for your intended alchemy ability without the other. Whether there are any other alchemic abilities involved is another matter, and something up to the proper members of the staff.
Now, I think I know what you're trying to do (your copy and paste from Wikipedia doesn't really help with explaining your alchemy), and I'm taking into account that you're working with the air rather than water. Since you're trying to emulate Lyra, I get a sense of the scale that you're trying to pull off. That being said, as-is, your ability is too powerful for a level 1 ability. (To destroy wood but, I presume, throw away people is inconsistent, and requires different amounts of power.)
Remember, your ability isn't the shockwave itself, and it isn't instantaneous. You need to invest time into setting it up, then collapse the entire thing, creating the shockwave (again, research goes a long way). That also means you need the alchemies required in order to set it up. It doesn't happen spontaneously. Even Reila needs to put time into making the little ice spike things she drops on people.
Anyway the shockwave is the result of two alchemies combining to create that effect. Hence, Vi's recommending you do pick one element of it, and then work your way up as you develop your character. What you choose to do with it is up to you, so long as it's an appropriate level 1 ability.
The concept's there, but, again, you're trying to do far too much at level 1 with your alchemy.
