DESCRIPTION:
→ The world is – at least to Tolk – a very dreary and uninteresting place. Thus she will usually wear things that reflect such an attitude. One can usually catch her in clothing that is rather dull and unfashionable. Her shirts are usually light blue or gray or something equally simple to that. Tolk will sport flannel or cargo pants varying in color from navy blue to light brown. Her shoes are just as simple, but also sturdy. Depending on what she is doing, they could range from boots to sneakers – almost always being just as dull a color as the rest of her attire.
Tolks’ face looks quietly innocent. Unfortunately her facial expressions are far from it, ranging from smirks to smiles in different situations. If Tolk thinks you’re being amusing, she will immediately either frown or scowl. It usually makes her look slightly angry, even if she’s just annoyed with you. Her stature is actually rather small for an eighteen year old and most think her to be younger than she really is because of it. This was due to her premature birth, though Tolk would never admit such a thing to anyone.
Her eyes are red. This is usually cause for alarm for some (and definitely was for her parents) but somewhere down the line of her family history there were one or two people who sported eyes such as these. No one really knows how or why that is, but Tolk doesn’t really care. Her eyes are her eyes and that is that. On very light days, they seem to be an almost coppery color, however, on other days the red is well defined. The girls’ hair is a completely different story. It isn’t even the slightest of red or any other ‘normal’ color. In fact, it’s blue. Yes… blue. The shades can vary, but all in all it stays blue. Tolk colored it one and decided to keep it, actually liking it that way. That’s about the only thing people might take notice of besides her eyes. She usually wears it loose, in a bun, braid, or just a regular ponytail. ‘Nothing fancy’ is definitely her style.

PERSONALITY:
→ Personality? It’s a little complicated, to be honest. Some would think Tolk is nice and innocent while others would say she’s great at shunning you and making you feel uncomfortable. The truth of the matter is that she’s more of the latter than the former. If she thinks you’re being too stupid or idiotic, then she will tell you bluntly and to your face that she thinks so. If she believes that you’re purposefully or even unintentionally trying to annoy her, then she’ll tell that as well. Her mind, at the moment, only has two categories that she ranks people in. Number one would be those she distrusts and number two would be those that she hates. Even Caleb and Cora, who were and still are her surrogate parents, have never fully gained her trust. Tolk thinks that all military forces are out for blood and war on purpose and the girl will curse you up a wall if she figures out you help or work for them in any way. She has a good heart, but it is often hidden under her cold exterior.
At times, Tolk can be quite bossy and doesn’t like to take ‘no’ for an answer – probably something she just picked up while spending ten years of her life being pampered. However she still values people’s opinions and feelings as long as they aren’t too stupid to her, and will gladly converse with you if you have something interesting to say. She’s a great listener (either because she has no problem falling asleep in the middle of a conversation, or maybe because of her life experiences… either way, it works), so if you have something going on or a problem that is utterly hopeless to you then Tolk will listen to what you have to say before sympathizing or telling you off. She’s a bit backhanded when it comes to trivial things and will emit an ‘I-don’t-care’ attitude when she’s angry, frustrated, or just plain bored.
Tolk is a terrible klutz when it comes to things that are made for athletes and hates swimming, playing ball, running long periods of time, or etcetera. Things like that make her tired and a little bit irritated, so she will usually just shrug away offers of ‘sports’ from people who have the guts to ask her if she wants to play.
At the same time, her innocent side can bloom if you know her well enough or have spent enough time around her. One of her small secrets (Tolk doesn’t really strive to keep it secret or anything like that, it just works out that way) is her love for stuffed animals. She absolutely adores plushy animals and will often fall asleep in her room while hugging one. That is the other side of her life, the side that she will not show to people who can’t break her shell.

HISTORY:
→ Born in the year 1994 and raised in a rather wealthy home, Tolk had everything she ever wanted in life. Anything she asked for, she would immediately receive. Yet… her happiness was never complete. She had always been ‘a very strange’ girl, her mother always said. Both parents would ignore their daughter one a daily basis; counting her as ‘trivial’ compared to their busy lives and social outings. Her father was a respected general in the Amestrian army, while at the same time her mother was a popular gossip and always seemed to know things that others didn’t (which was part of the reason people swarmed around her all the time, according to Tolk’s memories). The maids and servants would take care of Tolk – always telling the girl that her parents were too busy to deal with her. It wasn’t really all that depressing, considering Tolk had never actually liked or loved them in the first place. She began to become adventurous. Climbing out windows, sitting on the roof, and getting lost in the woods were just a few of her ‘rebellious incidents’ (as her mother called them).
Tolk was only birthed to cover the problem of an heir to their family inheritance. Since her mother was never able to have any more children, the girl was considered ‘valuable’ to the two adults, so they tried to keep her safe and under wraps from the outside. The only times people would see Tolk were when she was displayed in social parties and events. To be honest, her family never actually lived in Rush Valley for very long. They owned a summer home there and her mother just happened to be pregnant while visiting. It was an early birth and many thought that Tolk wouldn’t make it, but even though she was premature, the baby lived. Not that it seemed that miraculous to the parents – but Tolk valued her life and always has.
One day, while proudly being showed off by her mother in the East of Amestris when she was eight years old, an older couple was watching. They seemed quite interested and just mildly disturbed by Tolk’s mother, who was bragging about her daughter’s ‘unmatchable looks’. Tolk was horribly bored, twirling some of her blue hair in her hand (it had only been a couple months before that she had gotten into the food coloring and did such). The couple waited a few moments, conversing with themselves, talking in low whispers and nodding to each other.
It was bizarre. The first thing incredibly weird was when the man bent down – Tolk was watching all this closely – and began drawing a strange looking circle on the ground. Before people knew it there was a loud blast, as if something had just exploded out of the ground. Tolk’s ears rang (but at that time she wasn’t afraid of loud noises) and suddenly the girl felt someone grab her wrist and pull her away from her mother. The air was full of dust clouds and so she wasn’t able to get a good look at her ‘kidnapper’ until a few minutes later, when they pulled her into an abandoned building. It was dark everywhere and she was scared (but also sort of enthralled as well) at this new change of events. The screaming outside died away soon enough and her mother had walked off angrily to inform her husband that their daughter – and only heir – had been kidnapped. The couple soon introduced themselves by the names of Cora and Caleb, and as it turned out… they weren’t actually married. In fact, they were brother and sister – twins, actually. Tolk was just now starting to take notice of the dark brown hair, bright blue eyes, and pale skin and realizing just how much they looked alike.
They asked if she had been particularly happy lately and she – even though it was an odd question – answered with a definite ‘no.’ That seemed to settle it for them. They told her that they had seen her quite often when her mother would bring the girl to places and they had also noticed her interest in something called ‘Alchemy’. Tolk read books. Lots of books. In fact, she had read so many that they sometimes seemed to blur together. However in those piles and piles of books had been one or two on Alchemy, and she had taken the liberty to read them from top to bottom.
The first day the couple had noticed her, a few months back; Tolk had been carrying a small booklet on Alchemy under her arm and taking it out to read it whenever her mother wasn’t looking. It had kept her from being bored, and had also taught her a few things about the mysterious art. The twins had decided to take her away, to help her learn, because… they said they thought she was special. No other explanation was given and they didn’t ask her opinion. Tolk was, from then on, their surrogate daughter and student.
Year after year passed and Caleb and Cora began to see that Tolk was very interested in Alchemy that had to do with controlling the moisture in the air and the water that came from different places – like lakes, rivers, etc. She seemed to be especially skilled in seeping the water out of substances and objects that held any. It was all in fun for her, but Caleb and Cora wanted her to learn more. They taught her day after day, focusing on that particular skill, until she was a capable novice. It wasn’t much, but they hoped that soon she would be able to become even more skilled and somehow make a weapon out of it to protect herself from anyone and everyone.
The world is always changing, and such was the same thing with this one. Wars would come and go, fights would break out, people would get killed… but Tolk survived it all. She was a little too close to the fighting at one point and witnessed a bomb going off and killing several people, even injuring her own body in a couple places (nothing that couldn’t be fixed), but from then on she was terrified of loud noises such as thunder storms, explosions, fireworks, etc. Caleb and Cora had to be very careful about how they used their Alchemy from then on, trying not to scar the girl for life at the same time as teaching her.
Caleb and Cora both knew two languages: Xingese and Amestrian. They proceeded to teach the girl everything they knew about both and didn’t let her get behind in regular studies either. It was a mystery to Tolk why they had kidnapped her in the first place and why they had put so much effort into studiously ingraining all this into her mind... but day she hoped to figure it out. Since the girl was interested in learning more, her ‘parents’ let her read some books on Esparian. She doesn’t know how to pronounce it very well, but can understand a small amount.
Her adopted little family soon moved with her to another part of the country, father down in the West. Caleb and Cora tried to keep away from the fighting as much as possible, but always seemed to know more about the military and its assorted plans than most did. She often wondered if they had only taught her these things about Alchemy so she could serve as an informant to them later on (maybe they were secretly hoping she would join the military and complete the Alchemy Exam), but her mind was always far from doing so. Tolk didn’t want to become a tool of destruction and chaos. When she was seventeen years old, she left the care of Caleb and Cora (who had, months before, found respectable jobs in a library) and went to find out her place in the world. The world that didn’t hold much interest for her yet was a constant reminder that she was alive and well – still not dead, still marching on.

ALCHEMIC/ALKAHESTRIC ABILITY:
→ Tolk is skilled in drawing arrays that will ultimately condense water and then draw it out of the subject, and/or object that she has drawn it on. The end result could be disastrous or nothing at all, depending on how she uses it. Tolk is still, however, at novice level and probably wouldn’t be able to harm someone unless she trained herself incredibly hard in speed and memory. An example of her skill would be if she drew a circle on someone’s arm and then began to make the water/blood seep out of his/her arm. This could prove fatal if she was able to do it in large amounts, but more training would be required or her to accomplish something like that. If Tolk were to establish a connection between a proverbial point A and point B then she might be able to do it from a distance – though she hasn’t progressed far enough for such a thing to be possible just yet.
Instead of always drawing the transmutation circle, she will, at times, use a stamp object that is small and circular with the array engraved on it. Add ink, stamp it on a substance/object/someone, and voila! There you have it. The moisture/water will be condensed and slowly evaporate or pull out of the subject in small amounts.

Your alchemy will be evaluated in a transmutation application given some kinks need to be worked out. And one would think your surname would mean you're also part Aerugese, but then again, that's fine. Could be the surname of your adopted parents.
