DESCRIPTION:
As we begin to look at the figure of Daigoro Ito, we start to wonder exactly why this quiet-looking man is so highly-ranked within the Military. He is tall, slim, almost non-threatening in the way that he generally looks--some would even go ahead and call his silence pathetic. Rather well-kept, the male is topped off with hair that barely reaches past his neck--this is the result of a frantic battle in the halls of Fort Briggs, where he was forced to remove a large portion of his previously-long hair in order to save his own life. After the fight, it was restyled in order to actually look somewhat nice, though he is still getting used to the feeling. After this hair are a pair of bright red eyes--trademarks of Ishval--that seem to be a mixture of calm and happy, looking at everything around them with an intrigued and amused expression.

...........................................................................

PERSONALITY:
When one first meets Daigoro, they are met with a severely disquieting calm. Unlike a lot of calmness, where one may find solace within it's confines, if you are unknown to Daigoro, and you do not know him, then the calmness that he holds can be rather scary, to a point. The man will be standing there, quiet and calm, staring carefully into a space in front of him, or around you, and you begin to wonder: 'what is he thinking?' Sadly, even Dai rarely knows exactly what's on his mind. Even if he's appearing to have his mind completely under control, Dai is usually thinking about several different factors of his life at once; and trying to bring them all together in his mind. However, this calmness of his is his way of staying strong for those around him, and he wouldn't get rid of it for the world. Even under this calmness, he will always have a smile on his face; be it kind, calm, or confident, and his eyes will always have that glitter of benevolence to them: could this man ever hurt a fly?

Unfortunately, not all calmness is forever, and once proper emotion hits him, Dai is lost to the winds. He wears his emotions COMPLETELY on his sleeves, and finds it difficult to hide them from others, or at least others that know him well enough (Faceless mooks are easy to hide things from). A simple twitch of the face, and the shocking realization of something, and Daigoro's original calmness is now gone, replaced by the sudden influx of emotion that he's now feeling. It takes him a minute or two to readjust, making sure that he isn't feeling something out of place, or something that would hurt those around him. However, once he is in an understanding of his emotion, he will resume his original, calm, demeanour.

He seems to trust easily, and lose trust in others with difficulty. It is probably because of his own universal wants, but because of this Dai can seem to be a bit foolish and naive at times, breaking his own moral code for trusts in others that few would normally trust. Not only that, but the very factor of war holds no interest to him; he only fights in order to protect and unify, very "selfless" reasons, yet tinged with a selfishness that he is yet to, and does not wish to, explore. In fact, Daigoro Ito, in his own mind, has no enemies. Even if someone has killed those he cares about, they are not his "enemy", simply a "target", for he feels that if he were to give the person the satisfaction of having affected him before they die, then he has lost to them in the psychology of wartime.

Ah, yes. His stance on killing. It's unknown, really. Daigoro seems to be a person who takes whatever means possible in order to reach the ends that he's looking for. If one were to look at his alignment, they would call him 'Chaotic Good', in the sense that although he has the best intentions at heart, his methods generally leave something to be desired in the world of military protocol. He is rarely a practitioner of cruel, or needlessly selfish methods, just more likely to break the rules for a cause that he believes is just. Sadly, his own views on justice are heavily skewed, so he tends to take on the views of others, and prefers to assist others in reaching their goals instead of going for his own. He certainly makes a better follower than a leader.

He takes a very personal stance on issues within society like rape. The defiling of another human being's privacy for the sake of one's own enjoyment sickens him to the point of annoyance, and he will tend to take matters like this into his own hands, despite any warnings that he may receive. Unfortunately, he is a very selfish man; not in terms of taking for himself, but giving everything from himself. He only wants to help others, as the feeling of making someone else happy is what makes him happy, therefore his selflessness is his selfishness. He is learning to work on this, however, and trying to do more for himself, however the only time he chose to be selfish, he ended up hurting more than helping... one shall come to see what Dai makes of this.

Dai is not a religious man. He shuns religion for the purposes of understanding himself more. However, he takes a lot of rituals that can seem religious in nature, and therefore seem to contradict his very reasoning. However, he chooses to use these to understand himself; shunning the devotion of religion and just accepting the methodology and function that religion holds. Daigoro also refuses to speak ill of anybody behind his back, and rarely chooses to hate somebody. Although he is not superstitious, he has found that those who he has come to hate end up dying for some reason, and he cannot stand this fact.

Although he thoroughly enjoys the company of others, sometimes his own company is the thing he yearns for the most. While he can't always receive this during the day, during the nights he has found that his own insomnia, which he previously found frustrating, to be greatly useful in letting him have his thoughts to himself as he wanders the halls of Briggs at night.

LOVE:
Quiet; Food; Ishval; A nice, cool, breeze; birds; Reila Tsukino

HATE:
Large crowds; idiots; hot, stifling days; traitors; selfish people

DEEPEST SECRET:
He is an adopted, half Ishvallan.

IDOL:
His adoptive grandfather, the Windwalker Alchemist.

...........................................................................

HISTORY:
Born in Osaka, Aerugo, Daigoro Ito was parented by an Ishvallan man, Abu-Kareem Akil, and an Aerugese woman, Ito Akane. Daigoro's father was simply in Aerugo on holiday, and had found himself in the company of this woman after a small stint at a bar. A single night of passion later, and Akane found herself pregnant. Convinced that he wasn't the father, Akil fled the country, returning to Asbec in Amestris. Knowing that Akil was the father, Akane followed, and found herself in Central City, without money and without a home. She gave birth to Daigoro on the street, raised him with the homeless, and died of hunger not long afterwards.

The boy, instead of simply lying there dead and gone, was found next to his dead mother, barely alive. He was found by a kind State Alchemist, Darius Gorren, and taken in by him and his wife, who were both infertile, so incapable of having children of their own. The three-year old Daigoro already knew his own name, and when asked if he wanted to change it, flatly refused.

It was around here that Darius discovered that Daigoro may be an intelligent boy, and began to teach him. Dai wasn't allowed to leave his house, he wasn't taught at any specific school. Along with his own State Alchemist's duties, Darius made it his job to make sure that Daigoro learnt proper Amestrian, and that he was taught properly. Once he understand that Daigoro was Ishvallan also, he began to teach him more. Being the son of a veteran of the Ishvallan War, Darius felt obliged to help this boy, and taught him harder.

Once he believed that he was, indeed, ready, to learn it, Darius began to teach him Alchemy. A seven-year old Daigoro was being taught the basics of Alchemy by his “father”, and learning it at a pace that was... not good enough. No matter how much Dai tried, his “father” wanted him to learn faster. It was getting to be too much for him. And on his thirteenth birthday, he couldn't take it anymore. The redheaded boy broke down into tears at his father's teachings. So the man just gave up, leaving Dai on his own with the Alchemic side of his learning, focussing instead on teaching him Amestrian.

Dai never gave up, though. Instead of giving up on his work with Alchemy, he continued on teaching himself. Over the course of four years, Dai began to understand more about Alchemy than he had ever done under his father's tuition. He studied his own special brand of Alchemy, based around the powers of magnetism. And by the time he reached the age of 17, he understood enough about Alchemy to want to leave his own life in the basement, and make his own way in the world.

But that was not what his father wanted him to do. He wanted Dai to stay behind and study further, and their disagreement turned into an argument. This argument lasted for over an hour, and by the end Dai was fuming. As they left the room, Dai shouted out behind them,

”I hope you both die!”

Not the best choice of words, and about ten minutes after they left, their vehichle was struck by a truck, and the pair died. Upon hearing the news, Daigoro was grief stricken. His own ideas of superstition caused him to think that his own words were what caused their death, and he vowed to himself never to speak ill of anybody any more.

After their death, Daigoro tried to join the Military, finding himself stationed in Central City's Serious Crimes Unit, a soldier at the age of 17. His very first mission put him on the trail of a serial killer. He and the rest of his unit found the perp, and cornered him. The cornered suspect fought back, and attacked Dai with an alchemically-sharpened Machete. Unable to counter with his Alchemy, Daigoro tried to defend with his arm, stupidly. The machete cut through his arm like a hot knife through butter, and Dai was immediately decommissioned from service. Instead of simply giving up, however, he made sure that he was quickly outfitted with Automail.

Shortly after re-joining the military, he found himself assigned to Fort Briggs, and moved out to the cold north, working under Brigadier General Reila Tsukino as her Head of Military Operations. It didn't take long for him to work out a number of weapons to be used with the defense of Briggs, and when RIOTE attacked the Armoury near Briggs, he put them to the test, and also managed to get the bombs that threatened the Armoury away.

After this, he kept working on new ideas, new ways for his small but powerful Alchemic elite to take down any enemy who opposed them, when the time came for the Defense of South City, his team was ready to go. During the South City's small but brutal battle, he found himself with a difficult choice, and mistakenly used the Philosopher's Stone that was created from the people of South City to destroy the leader of RIOTE, Zaska.

It... was about this time that Dai began to feel it. It happened slowly for him at first, but he began to feel strange whenever Reila came nearby. He didn't understand it at first, but had finally decided something to himself - it was love. His feelings really became clear to him when the two of them went to hide the Philosopher's Stone within the Briggs Ranges.

After the Attack on the South, Briggs was suddenly attacked, by both Drachma and Drakkar rebels. Daigoro went out to the Drakkar side, and fought bravely. But once the complex was flooded, Daigoro attempted to escape, and only just made it, fainting from exhaustion.

After the attack, Dai was unconscious for most of the drama that occurred at the dinner, and on hearing that they were moving to Central to neutralize Father, instantly moved to do two things. He mobilized his troops so that they were prepared for battle, and moved out to the Briggs mountain ranges, retrieving the Stone, and leaving with the rest of Briggs on the way to Central.

Once they made it, and Alchemy was lost to them, Dai's quick thinking allowed his soldiers to automatically switch to non-alchemic triggers for their weaponry, and his bullets ripped into Father. After the long and hard series of bullets, Alchemy was restored, and Father believed dead. Yeah, there was a catch. Bastard wasn't dead.

Instead, the Stone that Dai held became his downfall, and Father began to try and drag them both in, with an attempt to heal himself with the Stone of Souls. As Dai came closer, he knew what he had to do, and giving himself up for dead, Dai automatically magnetized his own metallic arm, almost to the point of no return. As soon as he neared the dying Homunculus, he shoved his hand into the creature's "face", and with the immortal words of "Fuck. You." , clicked his fingers one last time, destroying his right arm and sending him flying back.

After Reila took the Stone from him and killed Father, Dai was overcome by emotion, and in a quick and not-very-well-thought-out move, kissed Reila on the lips with a confession of his love. Turns out it had taken him long enough, or something. He doesn't know. He just kissed the girl... And things have been a swirl of amazement ever since.
