Re: Worth Your Weight In Gold
To the curious scientific mind, new discoveries warranted new exploration, bot within the self and the world that surrounded the self, to see what new changes would be heralded by the light of new information. Gaving, while no scientist or great inventor like his Princess, had always possessed a curious mind about the wonders of the world around him of both the things that he could see and the things beyond what he knew how to see. Despite this, Gavin was also always a skeptic and not one for believing in things that he could not see or prove at least to some degree, bar his faith in God. Had you told him yesterday that the human world housed immortal people whose lives were fueled by the souls of others and that they were not just metaphorical beings, he would not have believed you in the slightest. He would not have chid you for claiming that they were real or that you believed in them; just he himself would not.
But the pearly dragons scales forming up around Toss' arm were prooof that what Reila was saying was, in fact, very true, and opening many doors in Gavin's mind that alerted the young King that the world was a much bigger and stranger place than he had guessed before. The golden eyes burned hard and serious, as unquestionable as the moldten metal that Gavin would occasionally smelt and pour at his forges. "You saw how his skin turned into scales? I can hardly give a worthy reply. How Vanity discovered that 'Toss' is here is not something I can deduct. However, I can assure you that it was not through our end. Also, it appears that Vanity is acting on her own and not through RIOTE. Though it remains indeterminable whether or not the terrorist organization is involved behind the scenes." Gavin nodded, looking to Toss as the young man's face scrunched as he tried to either fight off waking up or fight off the tangled ends of sleep. The little ninja approached, those bright blue eyes shining as though she might cry again at any moment, showing easily how deeply she honestly cared for the pilot.
Fingers danced across the keypad in a flurry, looking back to Reila. "I warned my General before I left that attack was a possibility. However, I did not bring many guards with me." Gavin bit his lip lightly in thought, glancing to Artemis, and then to Toss. His people. He typed again, the mechanical words chiming out as the King looked to the door. "My pilots need someone to tell them the terrain; we will need a route out of here that will keep them away from Carraig."
"To...ssu..." Poor little thing. Security breach or not, she'd shown she wasn't a threat and only there for Toss' sake, and seeing him like that must have been heartbreaking. But still, the General said he would heal. Gavin watched as Toss sat up slowly, groggy and uncertainty blurring in his eyes. But he was sititng up on his own, proving that he would heal on his own and faster than a human. There was no further need to doubt, and for that, Gavin was grateful.
"I'm fine. Let's go." Finally, the King smiled, if only slightly. That was the answer he liked to hear from any of his people. He let out a faint sigh through his nose, Gavin's hand patting Toss' shoulder again gently. He agreed; it was definitely time to go, especially since this Vanity was in the same buildi-
"What is the leader of O Great Drachma doing here, in Fort Briggs of all places? You'd best not be here to assassinate anybody; I'd hate to have to get... dangerous." --Was behind the door to the hospital room. Ifreann na Fola!! The leader of Drachma who had powerful ties to RIOTE was one of these immortal homunculi AND was in the next room. Acting alone for now or not, that didn't mean she didn't have backup just a phonecall away. The expression on Gavin's face made it clear that if the King could verbalise, he'd be swearing out loud, dignified or not. Artemis shared the same expression, the same thought as she asked for another way out of the hospital wing and back to his plane and escort planes. The escort planes were armed, but they weren't gunships and weren't meant to take down too much on their own, but if Vanity followed them back to Carraig...
Gavin's hand made a speedy message back to his palace to get to Fiachra. Leader of Drachma is in next room. Taking off ASAP, may be attacked or followed. Get Sorcha to safety. Lockdown mode, prepare for possible attack. The King's sense of paranoi suddenly felt like a rather justified thing, the threat of attack becoming a very real danger. Carraig had the best anti-aircraft weapons in the world; they designed them for the world to use but made and kept the best ones for themselves. The sharp cliffs thar surrounded the island left jagged peaks all around the coast, making it nearly impossible for ships to come close enough to fire or dock in their few safer ports; their ports were difficult in the daylight, and attempting in the dark of the night would be suicide for their boats. Drachma had the advantage of numbers, but they were still recovering from massive losses. Still... He frowned, trying to keep up with Artemis' words, hating that Amestrian was so harsh and fast, contrasting from Creig and hard to follow in a hurry. He'd picked out the important verbs and adjectives, however, especially when she switched back to Creig for him as she readied her rifle and ran toward the door. I will follow shortly!"
Oh, what the King wouldn't give to be able to shout after her, typing as fast as he could and turned the volume up slightly. "Artemis. You will accompany us to the ships. If my best shot remains here, then I and my ship are defenseless." Hazel eyes shot toward his bodyguard, giving her a hard and pointed look that made it very clear that that was an order.

"Kuhu..." Yep, Dai was right outside the door alright. She heard his weirdo laugh from here. Sighing to herself, flecked gold was focused carefully on the white-haired devil forcing himself up. She made no move to assist him nor to get anywhere within reach of him. Instead, she watched the other's reactions and observed as the other homunculus fell onto him, almost absorbed into his body with unexplained feelings that more than slightly threw her off balance. Okay then... She turned back to the door. Dai...please be okay. She could trust him, but not being able to be there to assist right now was scaring her out of her wits. If I lost him right now... She was already pissed as hell that Vanity had found her way into Fort Briggs. That meant...that Reila had a lot more work to do once this...situation was taken care of. A million scenarios fitted themselves callously in her mind, flitting between victory and defeat--thwarting backdoor after backdoor until all their deaths were assured, then through front gates of sovereignty aligned with trumpets and victory bells where their lives were just beginning. Reila massaged her temples. God leading a Fort was a pain in the ass. She loved it.
"My pilots need someone to tell them the terrain; we will need a route out of here that will keep them away from Carraig." She nodded, whipping out her phone and typing a text to one of her skilled pilots. He would tap into the radios of Gavin's ships and detail them on a safe route through the skies. When she finished, she gave him a thumbs up and a smile. All done. Still, she was surprised that the man wasn't having a conniption over the existence of homunculi, but in the end, that just proved that her first impression handshake was more than correct... Gavin was awesome!!
"General, is there another way to the ship? ...The leader of Drachma is outside this door. And I hear she too is one of these immortal things... If there’s another way to the ship please escort Gavin there and prepare to leave. I can not let her get her hands on our investment or harm my king. Please...protect him." Reila blinked. This fiery chick that hadn't even introduced herself to Reila properly now had the audacity to place the protection of her king in Reila's hands? You've got to be kidding me... Protecting him wasn't part of the deal, didn't this girl know that? In any normal circumstances it was basically like handing Gavin over on a gold platter. That is...if it wasn't Reila whom she was speaking to.
"...Now, I'm not going to cause any problems here." A voice wafted from underneath the door, causing Reila to freeze and go silent. The voice was getting closer. It was kind of freaking her out--like a horror movie or something. Shit! "Just let me walk through those doors, and I won't lay a hand on ANYONE except for Greed. You have my word as the Drachma leader." Hm... Yeah, walk through those doors and she would be more than frozen to death like her friend. Reila huffed and crossed her arms, glaring at the door like it itself was her enemy instead of what was standing between her and an immortal monster of a woman.
"Artemis. djfh dskj fhsak kehf kjsh dkfh asfd. ehrwerh ewrh wedsaq, ehruiq ie rh iqu wrn iehru whflla." Okay... so her name was Artemis. Or was that a word or something? Nah, it sounded like her name. It also sounded like Gavin was stopping her before Reila did. ...Saved her a lot of trouble trying to teach her why fighting an immortal with only a gun wasn't really smart whilst leaving behind who she was supposed to be guarding with a complete stranger. Well, Reila was on their side for the most part. Carraig was neutral in everything, which was stupid, yet at the same time, way smart... Still, without war, there was no peace. MEH. She got in Artemis' way as if to try and prove the point that Gavin was saying despite really having no idea what he said. It sounded like an order, but really he totally could have been talking about butterflies. And Reila liked butterflies... they were beautiful.

Re: Worth Your Weight In Gold
No...No, wait. Stop. STOP. Shit goddammit woman!! She collided into him with her last stumble, extorting a hiss of pain from Toss and a pathetic-sounding 'ah' from her. What the fuck was her deal, man?! He narrowed his red eyes at her still, breathing form, and tried to squirm away, but-- "So tired..." WHO THE HELL CARES?! Just get the hell off me!! He managed to free an arm out from under her. Ugh she was so heavy... Wait, what was her name again? He remembered vaguely that they had met at the diner with the shit tons of other swarms of homunculi... She had been cheated out of money and he couldn't stand seeing that crap and called them out. But what was her name!? Oh right, she didn't speak Amestrian... Well, that sucked. She was kind of speaking it now...kind of. Why was she tired anyway? "Anata wa dare ka o aishiteimasu ka, Tossu?" WHAT DID THAT EVEN MEAN!? Tossu...? The hell? He frowned visibly, looking at Gavin for help, but the King gave one last squeeze of his shoulder and became further preoccupied with Frozen bitch lady and...
"Good to have you back Tommy..."
"Same to you, Boobface." He sneered at her from across the room. Seriously how long had they known each other?! COME ON LADY. FOR CRIPES SAKE. He let out a long puff of air, almost seeing his breath for how damn near hot his head was becoming. He didn't know how much more of this he could take before strangling the nearest thing...that was...in his lap...pressed up agains-- In. His. Lap. Pressed. Up. Against. Him... AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!! Toss' face instantly turned eighty shades redder, matching his eyes that were beyond widened. Speaking of boobs, the smallish things were all up on his grill, her breath tickling his bare chest between the bandages and OH GOD... shitshitshitshit! He had to get out of here. He had to. Now. Now. Toss fumbled to his feet, disconnecting himself from a variance of wires including the Sloth girl. He just left her there, pressing his back hard against the wall, panting and trying to hide his face. Why, why, why, why did she have to throw herself at him!? This wasn't some chick flick film from the 90's! He shuddered and began inspecting himself. Yep, large gaping hold in his middle, trouble breathing, skewed sight, dizzy, things blurry far away, muted hearing--muted...hearing......?
"I want Toss. The homunculus that is being stored behind those doors." Vanity was here too!? Wait. She wanted him? Wasn't it supposed to be the other way around? He was Greed here, not her. Wtf. ...Vanity was right beyond that door? Wait, where were they? He glanced around the room, hunting until he found the place's name just about all over the equipment: Fort Briggs. That was in Amestris, North City. Huh. Strange, he remembered being in Drachma last. OH SHIT. ...He was in trouble. Most importantly...Vanity was in Fort Briggs. And if they had won the war, like it said on that newspaper sitting on the stand over there, then Vanity was in enemy territory and so was he. Save for the fact that Gavin was here. Oh crap... He was missing a lot of information, but if he wasn't wrong then--
"I can not let her get her hands on our investment or harm my king."
"...Investment? Is that all I am to you?" Toss looked up from his spot against the wall, red eyes simmering some hidden sort of emotion confined behind the tousled slews of dirty white bangs. He looked away from Boobface and redirected his attention to Gavin who looked...
"I will follow shortly!" ...like he wanted to yell after her. Instead, Toss did for him.
"WAIT. You have no idea what the hell you are doing, idiot." The Frozen bitchface got between Artemis and the door, Toss shooting her a cocky smirk. For once, they seemed to be on the same side. A burst of orders came from Gavin's fun little device thinger. Hm. Toss slinked past Reila and put a hand on the cold handle of the door, feeling sweat gather on his brow. He wanted to press his cheek against the metal, but instead, gave his king a hard look. Don't doubt me. He flung the doors open, barely noticing if they did or didn't smack a certain redhead he had never seen before in the back of the head. If not, it came damn near close. He pranced right out, covering the bloodstains with his arms folded over his center and stopped right in front of the ruler of Drachma, his creator, and the blue-haired bitch that enjoyed staring at mirrors. He was fucking Greed, he knew what she wanted. He had only to give it to her. As soon as he was close enough to her for her eyes to only be on his face, he removed both arms from their place around him, tangling a hand in her hair while his other splayed across her cheek. He was cold, but his body was radiating the heat of a 104 degree fever. Slowly, he moved in, moistening his lips as he pressed them against hers forcefully. Pulling her mouth open with his own, his tongue ravaged the inside. It was the worst kiss of his life--vile tastes and murderous intent, metallic and bloody from all the lives she waved away--the sting of a slap. He hated himself for knowing that this was all he could do to save them all--to accomplish what he...wanted. To return to Carraig. He served Vanity this once to atone for her saving his life. Now, he just wanted to be free, but he also wanted to own her. With this kiss, this terrible, disgusting, amazing, kiss, he would do just that. She was his. He would overpower her in this moment, with this kiss. He would command her. Growling into it, his red eyes flashed viciously closed, pressing his body against hers and pinning her harshly to the wall with a smack. Then suddenly, abruptly, he pulled away, out from her with tongue, moving simultaneously to her ear. His words sailed across the heat of the moment, penetrating her mind with utmost demand.
"Leave here, and maybe I'll see you again, Vani." That's right, to me, your name is Vani now.

Re: Worth Your Weight In Gold
He wasn't going to yield. The redheaded man didn't give a damn as to what this woman would do to him; he wouldn't shift for anything that she did. Eyes narrowed deeply, the pools of red stared down Vanity as she stood before him; his hand continuing to brandish the staff with slow motions. "Well, Sir or whomever you are, if you must know I don't intend to assassinate anyone today." Look at his face. Does he look like he gives a shit? No, well, that's her problem. A laugh, quiet and simple, a sound that nobody would ever truly notice unless one opened their mouth to perform it; that was what rose from the redhead's throat. A quiet laugh, small machinations of nothing that escaped through tense breaths. With that laugh, came a soft grin. Confidence abound, though only visual. He looked confident, but that was all that he could attest to. A picturesque confidence, hiding internal worries. She continued to speak with words that attempted to bring the man of red into her grasp, correct? "I want Toss. The homunculus that is being stored behind those doors." She pointed. His gaze did not follow, nor did it have need to. "Is that so?" The confidence didn't waver. Instead, the man took one step forwards, the sound of his footfall echoing through the desolate hallway. "Now, I'm not going to cause any problems here. Just let me walk through those doors, and I won't lay a hand on ANYONE except for Greed." That was all well and true, or at least he assumed so. He couldn't exactly believe a woman who did things simply for herself. T'was unethical, as one would say. "Keh." Another random noise; one that few understood the purpose of, Daigoro himself being excluded from that 'few'.
"You have my word as the Drachma leader." He chuckled. A chuckle was like a laugh, though quiet and calm. It was a laugh directed towards something that was not funny, but a confident laugh that was meant to tip the scales of mental power. This stand-off would not turn physical unless one of the parties moved. Daigoro would stand his ground, waiting for Vanity to make her attack. If she so much as twitched aggressively, he would not hesitate. "Fufu, you really believe yourself to be Drachma's leader? You think yourself to be relevant in this world? RIOTE is the leader of Drachma and giving its people their word through you, Va-ni-ty." The way he pronounced her name was unusual; using teasing tones meant to condescend the vain one. "You're just a puppet, a toy. You mean no more to Aurelius and Hild than the cities of Amestris did at the moment that they demolished those places without thought. Once your usefulness has died down, you'll be cast off and you know why? Because you are not the Queen. In all of your vain thoughts, you are still the number one. But that's not true in reality, silly woman. In reality, you are still a tool. If I may be honest, I never saw you as the leader of Drachma. Ever." He smirked, knowing that it may not have any effect right now; though it may cause food for thought in the future. That was an effective military tactic; getting into the minds of your enemies. Another soft and calm laugh came from Daigoro's maw. Strange. He shouldn't be so confident, especially not when he was faced with such an enemy. A disquieting calm was surrounding the redhead; a coolness that gave off an unusual air. He wasn't meant to be like this. He was faced with an enemy that was far from human; he should be scared. No amount of military training should prepare a person for something completely unknown to their humanity.
However, Daigoro had always been different. He had been calm all the time. A rock for those around him. It would not change, even if he was alone against a single enemy. That enemy may be overpowering, but it wouldn't change the fact that he would remain calm. Closing crimson eyes and emitting soft breaths from between pursed lips, Daigoro heard something bang from behind him. A person was approaching; a person that sounded annoyed or angry. A wind whipped the back of his head, a door barely missing him. He didn't move. His eyes slowly opened, however his body remained stationary as the Greedy One streamed past him. Without a second's hesitation, 'Toss' (so Daigoro assumed) had pressed his lips up against those of Vanity. As unexpected as it was, he himself didn't move. There was no composure to lose; Daigoro carefully watched with a quiet expression of wonder. One would have to consider what he was thinking. Hmm. I must try that tactic on Reila some time. I have to wonder how she'd feel if I was a little more aggressive with my tactics. Awkward as the situation was, Daigoro right now could only think of one thing--how this technique could apply to his relationship with Reila. Finally moving from that spot, the man of red hair turned his back to the wall; stepping backwards and placing his spine against the cool steel of Briggs. The pools of red closed once more; Daigoro knowingly chuckled. "You have what you want, do you not? I can have an armed squad here within seconds; you have no escape from this building, Vain One. If you do manage to escape, you should put my words into your mind. They could come in handy in your dealings with RIOTE." Without a moments' thought, Dai switched his tongues to a unique one, that only he and his love would understand. "You should hurry, Reila." Only she would realize what he meant.
Re: Worth Your Weight In Gold
And then, his arm moved from beneath her. A her tranquil feelings were startled by that, though she did not move. Her eyes opened softly, and she raised her face to look up at him with red lining her cheeks. He was frowning. Her... she... She almost felt tears drop down the sides of her face. Crying would help soothe it, right? Her entire body shivered from the cold, Akiha finally realizing that Briggs was far from the warmest place in Amestris. "T-tossu..." It appeared that her entire figure had stopped moving to rest upon him, eyes closed again to hear the beating of his heart. His body warmth caused her to smile soothingly and her form sunk lower; breath tickling his bare chest. Blood was on her face, but Akiha paid no heed to it. She was Sloth, she couldn't be bothered paying heed to such a usual thing. It was almost as if... Akiha truly did not care. Or at least, all that she cared about right now was Toss. So when her body was pushed off of him, she fell to the side with a grunt and landed on the bed. A quiet moan emanated from between her parted lips, and the silver-haired Homunculus--that pure embodiment of laziness--did not move for a while longer. Voices came from behind her as she slowly stirred into the world of the living. Whining quietly, Akiha sat up to see Tossu pushing himself out of the doors.
The doors opened, shut, opened again before shutting once more; Akiha clambering to her feet with a soft moan. She already missed the warmth of the Homunculus; hated seeing everything that there was about him disappearing before her eyes. She blinked and stepped fowards, before turning to the man with the computerized voice, bowing softly to him. "Though you may not trust me, I wish to request permission to accompany you to your home. Although it may not seem like much coming from someone who is used to being in the shadows, I am speaking true and honest words to you." She smiled softly; dry chuckles echoed throughout the room. It was a rare time for Akiha to be truly serious and formal, one would have to expect that the bubbly youth almost never did so. Her gaze shifted from Gavin and then upon Reila. She bowed once more, and sighed. "If I may be honest with you, Miss Tsukino, I am not truly loyal to Aerugo. My loyalty has been forced by the woman who created me, so I have no choice but to obey so long as she is alive. She has ways and means of destroying me; I'm too scared to disregard her completely. This is the first time I have done so and I fear it may be the last. That's why I am wishing to accompany these people to their home, so I may see Toss one last time before returning to Aerugo. I am trying my best to escape these chains which bind me... Even if I'm Sloth... I can't afford to be lazy in this situation. It's... sad." She laughed dryly, hiding tears of sadness from that woman...

Re: Worth Your Weight In Gold
The woman stops a few feet away from the redheaded man and the door where her most valuable position laid. Both eyes lock on one another, facing off like formidable opponents. However, Vanity would never make the first move, it wasn’t in her. She stands with the up most elegance, holding her chin proud. The low life servant boy of Briggs was chuckling as if she were a fool. It took courage to wonder into an unknowing place, but that determination would have it’s reward soon enough.
"Fufu, you really believe yourself to be Drachma's leader? You think yourself to be relevant in this world? RIOTE is the leader of Drachma and giving its people their word through you, Va-ni-ty." Ugh, seriously? Vanity shakes her head and laughs. This man, this ugly man, was trying to get into her head. He likes games, that much was obvious. Both her arms tense and her fingers rolled up into fist when he says her name like a deadly disease. Ever." That was it. The cold exterior of the icy woman was growing thinner and thinner. It was taking every fiber in her being not to slap this man. She may be a monster, but she was still a woman. On the inside, his words stung her like fire, attempting to melt over her lungs. She stands perfectly still, never breaking eye contact.
----
As a child, Alena was abandon at a very young age. She didn’t have fund memories of individuals, and barely allows anyone past her wall over her essences. Father raised her, raised her differently than his other children. She spent several days at a time without contact with the human world, or any other being. Days would go by and all she was left with were books. Countless books, that would line the hallways to her room. She loved fairy tails, even if they were meaningless loves stories. Some nights, Father would manage to come into her room and read a story to her before bed. This lasted until the days of his last breath. The horror of seeing the man who rescued her dying before her, and placing his last desire of being admired for eternity resting on her lips. The touch that sent the last sin, Vainglory, was sealed like a toxic kiss into her veins.
------
If only they knew. If only the world knew who she was and what she was capable of doing, then they’d run with fear. His calmness was relaxing at this, it made the moment not as tense as it could of been. With easy, Alena finally breaks the silence with her icy tongue.
“You deserve a slap right now, but that would be too humiliating for you. However as the ruler of Drachma, I made a vow not to lay my hands on anyone, except for Toss.” Her glossy eyes narrow out of annoyance at the man, before she continues to rattle on. “You don’t know half of what you’re talking about, slave boy. You might think you and the rest of this damn country know the truth, but you are very misinformed. There is a lot more to a book than just it’s cover. Unlike you, I have my dignity to uphold. For it’s within me, like a curse that I didn’t choose. You think I wanted this? Course not, but not it's all I want. I want the glory, the fame, the power, my image to be seen around the world. It runs through my blood, like a thick curse I cannot escape. This is who I am! I'm this monster, but don't you think for one second that makes me any less real than you!” She blurts out before looking over at the door and falling silent. The handle was moving on the door behind the redheaded man, and her heart was racing like a horse. Could it be? Alena takes a deep inhale of air before moving to the mans right side to see past his large figure. A man with snow white hair pranced right out of the room, attempting to cover his bloodstains with his arms. Both her eyes scan his entire entity several times, attempting to grasp this moment to the fullest. She so badly wanted to reach out and touch his lips with her fingers, to feel the warmth of his body against hers. But this would never happen, she wouldn’t allow it. The walls would keep out her feelings just how they always have. The poison on her lips would be too much for anything to handle without consequences. Before she knew it, Greed had both hands on her head. One digging deep into her hair and another splayed across her cheek, forcing her eyes to look into his. Everything around was spinning into a blur, and she only saw the man she craved. A faint moan escapes her pouted lips as the taste of rustic blood lingers into her mouth. His lips were too much to handle, but she couldn’t break. Both of her hands slid up his wounded chest, gripping his torn clothing like handles bars, vowing never to let go. The venom on her lips was seeping into his, each stroke of his tongue in her mouth was equivalent to drinking a gallon full of toxic. This murderous kiss, would be like facing death for anyone other than Greed. She moved when he did, slamming against the bare, stone wall with a large thud. Another quick gasp of air escapes from her lips the moment he breaks it. It was all happening so quickly, but felt like an eternity passed. His lips hover over her ear as his words hush her raging spirit.
"Leave here, and maybe I'll see you again, Vani." Maybe? This wasn’t suppose to end like this. She didn’t come here for nothing! She came her for Toss, the man whom she created with her hands. The man whom she risked everything for this day, was saying maybe? Her eyes shut, as she releases her hands from his clothing and drops them back to her side. Her wall was down at this moment, and she felt hurt. Vanity opens her mouth and was about to respond when the redheaded elephant did that for her.
"You have what you want, do you not? I can have an armed squad here within seconds; you have no escape from this building, Vain One. If you do manage to escape, you should put my words into your mind. They could come in handy in your dealings with RIOTE." His words were full of spite and hatred, but Vanity didn’t care. All she cared about was Toss, but then reality soon sunk in. How would she get out? Slowly, the wall built itself back up around her feelings.
“I’m done listening to your sickly words, Sir.” She spoke calmly to Dai before looking back at Greed. “I will escape, don’t worry.... Go Toss, go back with Gavin.” It was a lie, she didn’t know how she would get out of this mess. "Seriously, I, I will be fine." She attempts to give an honest smile and touches his cheek with her delicate fingers.
"Fufu, you really believe yourself to be Drachma's leader? You think yourself to be relevant in this world? RIOTE is the leader of Drachma and giving its people their word through you, Va-ni-ty." "WAIT. You have no idea what the hell you are doing, idiot." She stopped and looked down at her feet. Flinching slightly at the harsh words. "Artemis. You will accompany us to the ships. If my best shot remains here, then I and my ship are defenseless." Clenching her fist and teeth to stop the argument that threatened to escape her. Glaring angrily at the floor when Toss passed.
How could neither of them believe in her? Especially when she was struggling to believe in herself too. Didn't Gavin have faith in her abilities to protect him? Didn't he feel safe under her care? Didn't Toss trust her to protect the king? Clearly not. She slowly placed the rifle back The rifle on her back not even looking up when Reila stepped in front of her. He shoulders sagged slightly as she waited for Gavin’s next order. Refusing to look up when Toss walked past her door slamming and echoing round the room. She stood almost looking like a kicked dog waiting for Gavin’s next move….trying to swallow the lump of shame in her throat.

Re: Worth Your Weight In Gold
The frost-haired pilot seemed to be becoming more and more coherent, despite the confused look on his face as he glanced up to Gavin in a silent plea for help when it came to the woman hugging him and babbling in some other language. He looked to Reila as she seemed to be typing out a message on her phone before shooting him a thumbs up. Well, that was usually a good sign. So maybe she'd be able to help his pilots fly out of there and keep anyone following them away from Carraig long enough to shoot them down. Damn... Next time I fly out of home, I'm flying in a gunship.
He looked to the door, growing more worried; Vanity's voice was becoming clearer and another man behind the door was taunting and stalling her. If she really was immortal, there wasn't a lot that could be done against her, and even if she was acting alone, if Briggs took the leader of a nation as their prisoner that would just cause a massive shitstorm. Even if they managed to detain the homunculus and keep her there, Drachma's government would surely send soldiers to find her, if not RIOTE themselves since they're the ones who'd put her in power. Really, all that could be done was stall her and try to make her leave on her own since starting a fight would not end well for any of them. His mind felt like the sheet music for Mozart's symphony #40, notes feeling rushed and tense and in areas glazed and dusted just lightly in the new wonders he didn't understand. But all of those were buried under rolling violas and clarinets that pulled at their hearts.
Toss began to shove Sloth off of him, sitting up more as Artemis moved toward the door. Though his attention was on Artemis and keeping her in the room, his hand moved to try and keep Toss in bed. There was an immortal monster outside the door and Artemis thought she could just go kill it and defend him. Great guard, bad plan. And of all the people to risk themselves for him, Gavin sometimes hated that it was her job to do so first before anyone else. "...Investment? Is that all I am to you?" The feeling in Toss' quiet growl shot through Gavin like an arrow. Ouch. Probably not the best choice of descriptive words... Even though that was a half0truth, it certainly wasn't how Gavin liked to see people. Toss continued his way out of bed whether any of them objected or not, Gavin feeling a bit squeamish as he looked at the gaping hole in the man. That... that wasn't natural... he knew the reason now, but dear God, that was disturbing to see right there... "WAIT. You have no idea what the hell you are doing, idiot."
Without any command or telling anyone what he was doing, Toss pushed open the door to face Vanity himself. The door swished shut behind him, and Gavin wondered what exactly his plan was. He doubted it was to kill her as that wouldn't be a smart move at all, but Toss didn't seem too happy about being here and surely he wasn't just going to go back with her, was he? No, no. Toss was loyal to Carraig. But... "...Investment?" Yeah, if Toss stayed with him and came home, he'd be needing to chat with the pilot and apologize. He looked to Artemis, and oh dear lord, the guard was NOT a happy camper that Toss had gone to face the other monster and she'd been ordered to stay put. But if she'd charged with her temper and fired, she would have died. Gavin had no other guards with him here, and no other in Carraig was trained like she was, and without her the King would be defenseless. He also had no other friend like she was, and without her Gavin would be heartbroken. The guard returned to her King silently, teeth and fist clenched, awaiting her next order. Of all the relationships he had with people, that was the one he liked least, but dammit if that was what it took right now to make sure all of his people who were with him now were kept safe, then so be it.
"Though you may not trust me, I wish to request permission to accompany you to your home. Although it may not seem like much coming from someone who is used to being in the shadows, I am speaking true and honest words to you." Hm? What now? He'd almost forgotten about the quiet woman who'd been clinging to Toss only moments before. And she wanted to come with them? He looked to Reila as if searching the General to find out if it was safe to trust the meek being that snuck into Briggs for the sole purpose of seeing Toss... Then again, so had Vanity, but of the two of them this one seemed to be more willing to follow polite ordes and not be a threat. And with Toss injured, the extra protection getting home could be more useful...
Slowly he typed as though in thought, mulling over the pros and cons before deciding. "You may accompany us, young lady. If you are truly coming on behalf of Toss, then please help us to return home with him safely." She had no loyalty to Carraig or Gavin himself and had no reason to; but if she was so devoted to Toss, then she might help ensure his well-being at least, which would help promise the safety of all, and hopefully whatever Toss was doing out there would keep Vanity from chasing them back to their beloved island, beloved people, beloved families. Gavin looked to Artemis, putting his speech aid down for a moment, hands moving just for her eyes. A-R-T-Y, please... Forgive me. We will talk about it later, O-K? Now we try to leave." He let out a small sigh. Oh, why couldn't international politics ever be easy? Blacking out Drachma's accounts was bound to piss them off, and giving up Amestria's accounts along with it were going to hurt. They were still ahead for money and weapons, but what good was that if other nations stopped buying to build their own, or worse, began to withhold on imported food sales? Carraig didn't bolster nearly enough good farming land to feed everyone; they had cattle and sheep, but precious few fields and little that wanted to grow in the salty, rocky land. If Gavin didn't tread carefully, they would starve.
The speech aid was picked back up, Gavin now looking to Reila. "General, I don't know what Toss is doing, but he may be buying us time. Is there some way to find out? We must leave quickly, but I do not wish to leave without Toss."

Re: Worth Your Weight In Gold
He was there, and then he was gone. Woah, woah, woah, wait a damn second! She opened her mouth, nearly got in his way, but something told her not to. The white devil known as Toss seemed to know exactly what he was doing. He knew Vanity and had fought on her side against them so... he knew her right...? Certainly that warranted him knowing how to handle her and get her the hell out of Briggs before Reila went out there herself and ice-piked the damn blue-haired bitch that acted like she owned everything on the planet. That was Greed's freaking job! She hissed under her breath, clenching her fists and unclenching them. Would she regret not stopping him? His retreating form played again and again in her head: short, white hair shifting in the wind of his walk, blood drenching the bandages that couldn't be more than fifteen minutes old, the apparent pain lingering in the grimace on his face, red eyes holding so much more than what could be described with emotion. She didn't stop him. ...And then he was gone.
Vaguely, she heard Akiha speaking Amestrian in the background, her soft voice fading in and out with wisps of regal language and formalities Reila didn't expect from one of a lazy nature. Reila's simmering eyes were trained on the flapping door in the wake of a homunculus on a mission, waiting for something...anything to happen. Only when she felt eyes on her did she turn her gaze to Gavin and nod approval. Yes, she was trustworthy--as trustworthy as any homunculus was. Most stuck to their word, but many did not. Some were loyal, but many...were not. They were just like humans only...more dangerous. She wouldn't call it a mistake, but...Xan's constant disappearance was something that plagued her. Was he dead? Would he ever return? Had he betrayed her trust again? Why did she ever let herself trust a homunculus again in the first place? But no, she was herself and only herself. Reila blindly trusted the good in all things--human, homunculus, or rabid dog. That's the kind of girl she was. It backfired, hurt her, and re-broke her heart too many times to count, but on more than one occasion, it made people smile...it made her smile--a smile that had been long broken by a man named Danny who raised her and then left her just like her actual father had. Still, she nodded. Yes, she was trustworthy. If trustworthy was ever something that existed, Reila believed that liars would get what was coming to them by her hand or by someone else's. But now, it was her turn.
"If I may be honest with you, Miss Tsukino, I am not truly loyal to Aerugo. My loyalty has been forced by the woman who created me, so I have no choice but to obey so long as she is alive. She has ways and means of destroying me; I'm too scared to disregard her completely." A woman created a homunculus? Was it...via Philosopher's Stone? She felt the confusion briefly enter her eyes that had turned to focus intensely on the girl who appeared not much younger than she. "She has ways and means of destroying me..."...to destroy Akiha? Wait, there was something wrong there...something terribly wrong. Reila turned completely from the door and moved towards the homunculus as she continued to talk. No, it was wrong it was just... "This is the first time I have done so and I fear it may be the last. That's why I am wishing to accompany these people to their home, so I may see Toss one last time before returning to Aerugo. I am trying my best to escape these chains which bind me... Even if I'm Sloth... I can't afford to be lazy in this situation. It's... sad." ...wrong. No, no, it wasn't sad. What was sad was the ignorance in that statement. Her blood was on fire, bubbling to life, bursting through her veins with the need to correct--with the need to right! And she would in the language of her birth--the language she had once loved... then forsaken. This girl before her...knew. The knowledge was not lost in her father's death. Yes, Reila was supposed to be dead. I--I'm...supposed to have died those months in the gutter.... But to die--to be destroyed was something that anyone could do to another... It was an act so simple...even to a monster.
"No," Reila barked as if she were scolding a dog. Her golden eyes blazed down on her, sand baked in the glaring millenniums of sunlight. "No." Rejection--rejection so pristine and clear it rivaled the snow falling outside the hard walls of Fort Briggs. She put her foot down right there. "Akiha Akihiro, that is your name--a name no less similar to my own, Reila Tsukino. We are one in the same regardless of monster or man. Look at yourself--look at me, what do you see? Freedom cannot be shackled by chains of any kind be it your own or that of 'your creator'. That which creates can also destroy, but have you not thought that anyone else can destroy you aside from 'your creator'? Right here, right now, I can end your life again and again until you stop waking up. You, Akiha can also end my own in the same fashion...well, sort of. What you fear is the same as what everyone else fears and goes on fighting against. It's not sad. You are blinded by foolish ignorance, only seeing what you yourself paint in front of your undermined gaze. Don't you get it? Anyone has the means to destroy anyone else at any time," Reila finished with a wavering breath of air. Her eyes had filled with tears, but she turned quickly away and to the door, her had hovering on the handle as she shot one last look back at those in the room.
"General, I don't know what Toss is doing, but he may be buying us time. Is there some way to find out? We must leave quickly, but I do not wish to leave without Toss."
"Yeah, by facing it head on." The door shut behind her.
"You should hurry, Reila."
"Commmingg~~" Hello there Vanity. Her eyes narrowed to vicious slits, vehnom nearly veering out from its course into her next words...
“I will escape, don’t worry.... Go Toss, go back with Gavin. Seriously, I, I will be fine." Ah-hah. Hesitation in her words. Reila's eyes flitted to Dai momentarily then back to Vanity. Who was this woman? Reila didn't know her at all aside from being an enemy. To kill her now...to capture her now was not a strategic move, she knew, but that didn't stop the screaming in the back of her mind--the warrior's spirit egging her on to draw the sword at her side and...and... But Reila wasn't like that. She immediately discerned the situation, immediately saw the sway in Toss' step and the smeared lipstick on Vanity's face. It made sense...but in a mildly confusing way. She could trust those words...with backup. And only with backup. For now, Vanity's life was spared because for now, Reila saw no way of getting away with it. ...Not without Fort Briggs being massacred in the process.
"I will ensure your...safe departure, but I want you OUT of Briggs NOW." Men laced the hallways, guns all blazing under the fluorescent light. Reila was getting a hundred text messages a minute. Orders? ...Orders? That was her order. She looked at Dai. Relay it.

Re: Worth Your Weight In Gold
"You have what you want, do you not?" Hah! That was hilarious. Toss made distance between himself and Vanity, standing somewhat in the redhead's path of which he had not acknowledged before. Was that what she had wanted--that kiss? He wondered as much and nearly hoped not. Toss really didn't want Vanity to attain what she wanted...then really the world would be doomed. Well, he didn't really know or care to think that far ahead, to be honest. Whatever happened he would adapt to in some way, shape, or form. It was in his nature after all. Something about living forever maybe? "I can have an armed squad here within seconds; you have no escape from this building, Vain One." Then what was that? His eyes grazed over the accumulation of men down the hallway looking trigger happy and more than a little ravenous. Ah, Briggs...he'd never freaking come here again that was for damn sure. "If you do manage to escape, you should put my words into your mind." Was there a question about her escaping? Really, because he was currently facing two homunculi. Come on... Toss rolled his eyes to the ceiling and back, waiting for him to get on with it. "They could come in handy in your dealings with RIOTE." Sigh. Okay done. Toss looked up and down the hallways for a way out without having to kill a bunch of men and/or get lodged with bullets. Anddd zilch. Weeellll, this sucked.
“I’m done listening to your sickly words, Sir.” Ah, the queen hath spoken. Toss turned to look at her and found her looking back. He quickly averted his eyes and moved his arms around his center, suddenly feeling the world tilt on its side. He had been waiting for it: the poison of her lips to kick into his system and thoroughly fuck it up, which it now was doing quite decently. “I will escape, don’t worry.... Go Toss, go back with Gavin.” Red eyes shifted to behold her. Was she really saying that? He smirked, a wry curl of his lips under wisps of white strands. Victory was attained! "Seriously, I, I will be fine." Now wasn't that convincing. Yeah, not a question. Seeing as the redhead was smart enough not to attack, Toss moved back against the wall and slid down it onto his haunches. Everything was getting faint, blurred...obscure. He shut his eyes and took a deep breath to steady the galloping of a horse's hooves crushing his chest. Ghostly fingers brushed over his cheek, forcing his eyes to flutter open and determine them as Vanity's. Hmph. He nearly forced himself back up when...
"I will ensure your...safe departure, but I want you OUT of Briggs NOW." Ho' shizz. Toss struggled to focus his eyes on Frozen bitch lady. Now things were getting serious. Alright rocket launcher, window, or guns-blazing? All the options seemed pretty bad. And what with him being a glowing mess it didn't seem as if he would be much help aside from what he freaking was: a shield. Vanity obviously had no idea as to how to get out either... WAIT. "I will ensure your...safe departure" Safe?! Did that mean... Greed threw himself to his feet and crossed his arms across his chest with a cocky smirk despite his rather...quirky condition.
"Then you will safely escort Vanity off the premises, is that right?" No shit that was right. She looked ready enough to take her the hell out of dodge. Like Dai mentioned before, Vani had RIOTE backing her from a war Amestris lost. Holding her here or even killing her or whatever was plain stupid, and Toss was sure that Reila Tsukino wasn't stupid. He sighed and motioned to the vain one as if he would to a dog. "Then by all means, please begin General...before one of you men's fingers slip." He watched her nod with vicious golden eyes and then shoot the male redhead a weighty look. If those two weren't a pair, then Toss wasn't Greed.
"I'll take you out myself," she said and began walking slowly, glancing back to ensure that the ruler of Drachma was indeed following.
Once that was over, Toss was no longer concerned with the guaranteed well-being of his Vanity, and instead, opted for the muffled conversation going on inside. Wobbling over to the door, he whipped it open just enough to peek his head in. Just be yourself... As the men outside dispersed after Reila, Toss chose his words without any analytical research beforehand. "So~ are we going to go home or...?"

Re: Worth Your Weight In Gold
"You deserve a slap right now, but that would be too humiliating for you." A sly smile slipped across his lips, red eyes lowered to gaze at Vanity's face. Humiliation, as it stood, was the least of his standing problems. A tongue slithered out from within that smile as he licked his lips softly; leaving behind a glistening trail of saliva. He had known humiliation, he had experienced enough to understand that. There was nothing in his life that could be more humiliating than the experience he had within Creta. "You don’t know half of what you’re talking about, slave boy. You might think you and the rest of this damn country know the truth, but you are very misinformed." "Heh heh heh." His shoulders shook with the soft laughter. Slave boy? How horribly... crude. Why, if he wasn't so amused by this woman, he would have to feel at least a little insulted, just to give her the satisfaction of having gotten to him. Of course, there was always a double-edged sword in these situations. Did Vanity know that she was stepping on rocks with bare feet? He was certain that she didn't. "Unlike you, I have my dignity to uphold. For it’s within me, like a curse that I didn’t choose." Tch. This woman wanted to talk about a curse within you? He could sit here all day arguing this point and he still wouldn't get anywhere. "I want the glory, the fame, the power, my image to be seen around the world. It runs through my blood, like a thick curse I cannot escape. This is who I am! I'm this monster, but don't you think for one second that makes me any less real than you!" He sighed; she had most certainly reacted like he'd wanted her to--she'd played into his hands, alright. "Vanity, Vanity, Vanity." He whispered those words to himself, saying her name a few times in order to think about it himself. "You should hurry, Reila." "Commmingg~~" As always...
“I’m done listening to your sickly words, Sir.” Vanity's words broke the mental silence upon him once more, Daigoro turning his head and fixating his eyes onto her. Reila's were, though he couldn't see them, narrowed into slits. "I will escape, don’t worry.... Go Toss, go back with Gavin. Seriously, I, I will be fine." Kuhu. He had to wonder if those words had worked. Normally, he would be fine with not knowing, but Daigoro Ito wished to pursue this idea to the end. Something told him that it would end up becoming something completely unprecedented. "I will ensure your...safe departure, but I want you OUT of Briggs NOW." His finger was already flying over his phone the moment that she spoke. Within seconds, a mass text message was sent. Within minutes, people would be lining the hallways. Reila stepped forwards in front of him, starting to lead the leader of Drachma out, he assumed. Without stopping to miss a beat, he stepped behind her and smiled softly. "It shall be alright. There will be some interesting events after this, I suppose..." Without an answer, Reila headed off in the opposite direction to the redhead, who had started to return to his room. In all honestly, he hadn't actually finished his routines. Time to go get those out of the way...
"Oh, Vanity. The sin of Pride reflected onto material appearances and gain. How you amuse me so. A woman who's own personal appearance and wants come above everything in this world. But that's not truly you now, is it? All that is, is the will of some piece of stone inside of your body, imposed onto this physical form. That's all that a Homunculus is, though I've seen those with their human personalities shining through. The former Wrath, Menoitos--that man who loved kittens more than his own sword." He spoke as if extending an invitation now to Vanity, whom he knew would not be able to hear him. "Sin Vanity; the Vain One. I offer you this; a chance to recompense for your own personality. Resist the temptations that the material world brings and you may have a chance to remove yourself from that puppetry, yet. Think about it, Vanity. Would you have truly achieved the ambition to take control of Drachma, were it not for Aurelius? Would you have really become such a powerful woman? Or would you have survived without thinking, just killing for what little fame you could gain? You're a puppet, Vanity, just like I am. For that reason...
...I can't help but pity your poor soul."

Re: Worth Your Weight In Gold
"You may accompany us, young lady. If you are truly coming on behalf of Toss, then please help us to return home with him safely. That computerized voice spoke once more, Akiha's heart fluttering as he answered. That... she... she could not feel any happier than she did right now. Her offer for assistance was accepted by this man; so that made her happy. She nodded rapidly, before speaking her line to Reila on her potential destruction.
Did you know? When two ninja fight, there are never any words spoken. There is not any room for banter; perfect focus must be maintained. Every attack, every parry is plotted ten steps in advance, like a silent and deadly game of chess. Although they may not seem like it, the ninja were always ones to strategize; the greatest strategy-players in the world. Even Akiha, whom didn't seem like one to have her mind under control, was great at strategizing on the go. But this... she had not planned for this. "No," N-no? Akiha almost had to take a single step back, cheeks puffed up with worry. "No." No? What did that mean? Did that mean that Miss Tsukino h-hated her? Akiha didn't WANT to be hated... "Akiha Akihiro, that is your name--a name no less similar to my own, Reila Tsukino." She sniffed quietly. How could there be any similarities between them? She was a knave and this woman... this woman... "Look at yourself--look at me, what do you see? Freedom cannot be shackled by chains of any kind be it your own or that of 'your creator'. That which creates can also destroy, but have you not thought that anyone else can destroy you aside from 'your creator'?" No, she knew that there were other people in this world that could destroy her... she had already died recently. Closing her eyes, Akiha felt herself sniffing and dropped to her knees. Floodgates opened, she knew that she was now crying. "What you fear is the same as what everyone else fears and goes on fighting against. It's not sad. You are blinded by foolish ignorance, only seeing what you yourself paint in front of your undermined gaze. Don't you get it? Anyone has the means to destroy anyone else at any time," Why? Why was she crying? Why was this woman telling her such things? Slowly standing up, Akiha wiped the tear-stains off of her face and stared at Reila's head from behind.
"...fine." She swallowed that depression and anxiety that she felt when considering Megami and steeled her mind against anything that she might feel about this. "I'll do what I can to be the best I shall be. I will no longer let Megami Kotomine dissuade me..." Breathing out, she turned to Gavin once more and bowed low. "I shall wait by the ship, I have already discerned the location." Turning away from the man, she ran out the door, past Reila, through corridors and towards a place she'd already discovered...

Re: Worth Your Weight In Gold
She kept her head low as Toss returned to the room. She looked him over then her eyes turned to Gavin. Silent plea of 'Please can we go home...' reflecting in the golden pools. She gripped the rifle's shoulder strap tightly as she returned her gaze to Toss. "Will you require anything to travel comfortably or will your be alright? The ship dose have a resting room as well. It is furnished to suit most needs it is required for." She taught it was best to make sure Toss did require any medical supplies. She was sure there was plenty on the ship but she rather check now before it was too late.
Looking to Gavin again then over to Reila she tried not to hold her breath. 'Please can we just leave'. she taught over and over in her head. Hoping that somewhere along there long years together Gavin would suddenly have the ability to read her mind. That would of made life rather easy if it was true. All she wanted now was to return to her basement flat watch some silly happy cartoons with a big tub of Ice cream. Today had not been her day.

Re: Worth Your Weight In Gold
Just as the worlds slipped out of her mouth, came a powerful woman. Her long chair blossom hair swung to the side as she stepped out into the center of the hall way. Now this was a person Vanity could respect, and knew that she wasn’t about to mess with her head.
"I will ensure your...safe departure, but I want you OUT of Briggs NOW." Men swarmed the hallway, lining every inch with guns held directly at her. Without a moment of hesitation, Vanity quickly gives Toss one last look and heads down the hallway with Relia. The two pass by Dai, the annoying slave boy of Briggs and his cocky personality that caused the order in the air to reek. He began to babble on about something relating to her and not falling into the desires of her flesh... yeah right. She rolls her eyes and continues down the cold, narrow hallway leading to her freedom.
Once she was outside, the freezing wind blisters the edges of her skirt and she gives a nod of ‘thanks’ to Relia. The ruler of Drachma scurries over towards her driver and before long she was gone.
This was a story to go down in the books for sure.

Even with a gaping hole in his middle that one could probably throw darts through if they really wanted (or were really sick), Toss' confidence and snark weren't depleated in the slightest as the homunculus popped his head back into the hospital room. Guns weren't blazing. It didn't sound like everyone had had to beat Vanity down to escort her elsewhere, and the fact that Toss was looking back in on them meant he was coming back to Carraig with Gavin. Well, he hoped, at least. ""So~ are we going to go home or...?" Yup. Toss was Toss, and if nothing else at least the consistency was reassurring. Right now everything was so up in the air and honestly Gavin could do with a glass of something while he processed it all, but that could wait until they got home and he could lock himself in his room to gather his thoughts in private.
Artemis looked to Gavin, completely exasperated and just looking beyond done with it all. Toss wasn't human, the leader of the country they'd cut ties with was in the next room and she wasn't human either, they had essentially paid hush-money to Amestris.... It really was too much and he completely understood Artemis' silent plea to leave, especially since she was probably more than a little pissed at him for not letting her charge out to pick a fight with vanity. And Toss might be pissed abuout that little remark about being an investment, and... yeah. It was time to go HOME. Before the hole got any deeper.
"Yes, let's go home," Gavin signed, looking from Artemis to Toss, still amazed and a little queasy knowing the man had a hole in him and was functioning. He was still worried vanity would call for backup, though, that Drachma would attack Carraig, or worse, RIOTE. But they needed to leave now while it was presented as an opportunity for them all. The soft voice of the ninja caught his attention once more.
"I shall wait by the ship, I have already discerned the location." Three non-human, immortal things in one area. At least two of them were on his side, but he didn't know how much more of this he could take in one night before his brain just quit. Akiha hurried out of the room to meet them at the airship and the two security planes, Gavin walking away from the bed and toward Artemis. His hand raised, moving up to Arty's shoulder and giving a squeeze before heading toward the door. Part of him wanted to tease and ask if either his guard or pilot wanted to stay in the area for ice cream, but that would probably result in his guard beating her King. Gavin walked toward the door, his hand moving out to urge Artemis close to him as he exited, General Tsukino already gone. Facing it head on. Carraig was good at that, if nothing else. The speech aid lifted, Gavin looking to Toss for a moment as he typed.
"We should have enough medical supplies on the ship if you need them... But let's hurry and leave before anything else decides to happen." The words clunked out, speaking as he hastily typed, wanting nothing more than to leave.
