Re: Xingese Cuisine
Uh-oh. He hadn't liked that-Wait. Jeu-Hee immediately began to blush rather furiously as she glanced up to him before back down at her lap. She hadn't realized how many rips were in these jeans until now..... Focus! She wasn't focusing! Thats why she must be messing up. Or was it really messing up? Clearly he hadn't liked that she had done that, but... he was tolerating it? Because it was her... Kyaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa--- Aiya. Bad idea was very very bad! But fun. And lots of squees!! She giggled in her mind. This was such a curious situation that they found themselves in.
"Sorry..." She murmured, blinking as she raised her head slightly. Oops, wrong language. She kicked her feet a little underneath the table, wondering if she should try to do something to remedy her mistake. She couldn't quite call it that though. No, it was something she'd avoid doing unless he said it was ok! Yes, she'd do that. Aiya, it was like trying to step on hot coals. She wasn't sure if the next step would hurt or not! He made it sound like no one else had gotten away with it before. So... was this new for him too?
Taking a deep breath, she forced herself to raise her eyes to look somewhere that wasn't down. Even if it wasn't necessarily at him, lest she burst into another round of blushing, she shouldn't appear this way. She could feel the looks of the other regulars and she could only imagine how they found her behavior. Not like an ambassador at all she suspected. The questions must be forming in their mind if she really could be trusted with their matters of state with foreign relations. Smile. Just smile and be herself. She had to even if she was filled with doubt.
So she did.
A small smile rose to her lips as she leaned back in her chair, appearing quite calm and not... hyper. Picking up her bowl of ice cream, she finished it off as he ordered their drinks, her skin appearing pale once more. No more blushing like a school girl, she was older than that! It was as if that youthful energy had faded from her, the maturity that she held shinning now. Poised and graceful. She knew how to be. But would he still like this? Was he one of those people that hated when others put on a farce to appease others? Aiya, what if he was?! No nononono, stop it with the what if's! They never helped. They just put you in a tizzy like she was now. God she hadn't felt so mixed up since... well for a couple of years now at least.
Sensing his grin, her emerald gaze rested upon him, forcing her blush to stay down. Bad blush, bad! No coming up right now! Her soft smile grew as she placed the now empty bowl down along with her spoon, folding her hands in her lap. "I was told when visiting Aerugo that I should try it. I just wasn't quite ready to at the time though. We'll see what happens hm?" She chuckled and shrugged lightly, pushing down her youthful cheeriness. No, she had to be what her people knew her as. Yes, the stares were going away now... And any possible innuendos went right over her head, brushing those stray hairs from her face. Just keep smiling...

Phew. It appeared the innuendo - for the second time, now - had flown right over her. That was good. Everything was back to normal. He'd regained the upper hand. She was... she looked... blushing? He tried his best to ignore it and keep his modesty. He'd just take it on the inside.
He wondered in the moments of silence if she was thinking about this as hard as he was. Did it come naturally to her, too? All these thoughts? The snapshots of paths that laid open to them, should both of them play their cards right, and appeal to each other? Ayden almost saw them as premonitions... they felt so close-
What was he thinking? T-this wasn't like him at all.
He stared up at the night sky once more, folding back his sleeve and checking his watch. Hm. Almost 11pm. They'd been talking to each other for a good couple of hours, though... it felt like minutes. The stars, the moon, even some of the other planets, glowing each with a unique hue were out, nothing obscuring the horizon. In some ways, Xing was a lot... just... better than Amestris. More peaceful. More in-touch with nature.
He turned back to her, about to speak, as the sake and whiskey arrived. He smiled up at the waiter, took his measure, and began to sip it, gently, pushing the glass of sake over towards Jeu-Hee. "Try it," The whiskey slipped down his throat, a familiar burning sensation tingling along the back of it, then it settled in his stomach, warm as he remembered, setting the glass down, his exhalation manifesting as a quiet, drawn-out 'ahhh'.
Not bothering to notice whether she'd done as he'd asked or not, he spoke, smiling fondly. "If you don't mind me asking - I know it's rude for men to - how old are you, Miss Han?"

Re: Xingese Cuisine
No one had affected her this badly before. This truly was an unexplored territory for her. Sure, she had read books in that facility, her parents had read her stories too, movies, all of it. But.... It wasn't like she had that period of time where she'd gossip with girls her age about the cute boys in school. The only thing she knew to do in this situation was just to keep being herself. And she couldn't even do that. Not in this setting. Maybe if it were elsewhere, but not here. Keep. Smiling. It was her natural point! She could do this!
Yes... there we go. She had settled fully into her mask, glancing briefly about the restaurant. Still some looked? Oh, no. They weren't looking at her. They were looking at the company she was keeping. Some seemed curious, who in the world did their ambassador keep for friends? Others... what? Her brows furrowed a little, her gaze briefly getting met before they looked away, leaving her..confused. Ignore them. Ignore!! Remember, positive karmic energy. Sipping at her water, she took another deep breath, exhaling that negative energy out with it. Yes.. there we go. Sort of better. Puppies! Heehee, much better now.
As Jeu-Hee noticed him check his watch, she glanced to her own and inwardly gulped. She probably should be heading back now. But, but... but meh. She'd stay up late!! This was a special occasion now! Movement. Turning her head, she saw it was the waiter, placing down their respective drinks to which she gave a thankful smile. Oh boy... She looked at Ayden hesitantly, biting her lower lip as she picked up the bottle and poured the contents into the tiny glasses they provided with it. They were rather adorable. Holding that small glass between her fingertips, she glanced again to him as if he offered support, before sipping carefully at the sake. Cold. Strange taste- yeee!!!! She swallowed as her eye twitched at the strong taste of alcohol, feeling as if her hair went to stand on end. Yeowza! "M-maybe I should have started with something less strong..." She mused to herself, forcing the rest of that small glass down. Don't think about it, don't think about it, don'tthinkaboutit!
Her stomach blossomed with warmth, spreading back up her throat into the chill of her mouth. Her focus shifted to her fingers as they tingled.. wait... a lot of her tingled. Heeheehee......... This was niiiice~ What were those worries again? That mature mask was beginning to crack as she began to bounce from side to side again, pouring herself another cup full. She paused before bringing it to her mouth since he spoke, tilting her head slightly. Question question? Oh, of age! "It's alright. I think its more inappropriate to ask when the woman is older ya know? Heehee! I'm 19." To that she grinned almost sheepishly, reminded of just how young she was to hold her post. Downing another cup full, she felt that warmth grow as her green eyes rested upon him. Giggling softly, she sat forward a little and looked up to him, not really thinking of her actions anymore. "How old are you Ayden? To keep things fair." Another giggle. Heeheehee she felt more bubbly than normal!! Her head felt like it was full of flying things, swirling about... Bad ideas? What of these bad ideas? She was having fun!

Nine... nineteen? Wow. That was seven years behind him. Surprisingly enough though, they weren't kids any more. She wasn't a child, she was a woman. She could handle herself. So could he. Everything was fine. It wasn't inappropriate at all. She wasn't a child. She was not a child.
Now for the reply... well, this was going to be a little odd any way he put it. Seven years? Dammit. He needed to get the idea out of his head. They were both adults! "Uh... yeah. I'm..." He paused for a moment, then kicked himself for realising he'd done it subconsciously. "Uh... twenty-six." He hoped she wouldn't be surprised. He really lik-
No. He couldn't get back into that train of thought, that indecision. He either liked her, and he was letting his guard down - which was a dumb move, yet he could see why others did it now - or he was just messing around. He wasn't sure which was which... but... the way she looked, the way she smelt, the way she'd touched his hair. It was enticing. She was brave, foreign, beautiful, and different, all at the same time.
Ah well. He took another sip of the whiskey, watching as Jeu-Hee dealt with her sake. "Whoa, steady as she goes. It's good, but, you know what the Xerxians said, right? All good things in moderation." He chuckled quietly.
And then, it happened. It had to happen. It just had to fucking happen. He knew it'd ruin the entire night. He knew one way or another, it just would. It would put her off, or he'd snap.
"'Eya, love!" It was... Cretan. The language of his heritage. Yet the dialect... so informal. So... common. It was near-disgusting. Two sets of lumbering, heavy footsteps, as two huge, burly men, one with a shaven head, and the other hitting the other extreme, with gorilla-like tufts of hair growing over the top of his v-neck, and his head tied back in dirty, disgusting dreadlocks. Ayden paid them no dues, simply sipped his whiskey, and grimaced. Worthless, pathetic lifeforms.
They drew up to the table, the smell of cheap beer hanging over them like a raincloud did over an unlucky man in that unfortunate Saturday-morning cartoon. But, they couldn't leave there. No, they had to press further. The one with the shaven head spoke first. "Whatchu doing with this little tranny? I mean, what's with," A drunken hiccup. Ayden wished the man would vomit and make a total fool of himself, but the curse didn't exactly come out as planned. "that silver h-hair, y'know?"
And then his teammate, an equal tool, continued on from him, 'backing him up'. "Yeah! Lessee, why doncha come back wiv' us, we'll show ya' a real man!" Ayden's hands and knees began to quiver, and shake, although minimally. It was almost impossible to notice it; the lurching fools, as they swayed from side-to-side, didn't, but he knew Jeu-Hee was more perceptive than that. He just smiled and stared idly into his whiskey glass, hoping and wishing they'd leave before things escalated and the pair of them ended up with six or seven broken bones between them.
Or, perhaps the Xingese diplomat would deal with them in her way. Ayden looked up to her and smiled weakly, before speaking quietly. "Tourists, eh?"

Re: Xingese Cuisine
Jeu-Hee picked up that something was off about her age, sitting up straighter as she cocked her head to the side. Was it that much of a shock? Obviously it was. Always was to anyone. Inwardly she shrugged at this notion, deciding that she didn't really care anymore. She was definitely buzzed, though not yet quite drunk. Terrible ideas weren't always terrible! Teehee~
She waited patiently for his reply, rather curious to hear it if not because of his reaction to hers. He was certainly at least twenty-two--- OH. Her eyebrows raised at his answer, but her eyes merely shimmered with her cheerfulness. So that meant.... Seven years her senior. Oopsie, she had been off! "Heehee, I thought you might be twenty-two or so. But dats cool~" She grinned once more, resisting the temptation to pet his hair again. It was so shiny and and and SOFT. Noooooo, obey the laws of personal space! Just because she could get away with it, didn't mean she should push it. Nope-ity de nope nope.
Then her eyes came to rest upon the sake bottle again, staring it down as if this were a western movie. To take a drink, or not to take a drink... That was the question. Whether tis nobler-- FOCUS. Even if it was haaaard to. Spinning spinning.... Crap! Focus was lost! No, she could regain it. Her eyes drifted from the sky outside to his face, her features softening further. Tonight really was a good night. "I knoooooow that. Its just..." A frown creased her face for once, again staring outside to the moon. "I dun wanna fall behind. Or maybe I already have... Meh." Huh, she felt bouncy but not. Clearly he held his liquor far better than her, but he'd been drinking longer than her! Yeah... it was ok. Oh wait, should she have said that? Uh-oh... this could end up bad--
"'Eya, love!" Jeu-Hee immediately sat up to attention, turning slowly in her chair to face these newcomers. That was the wrong language for this place. Her green eyes steadily took these tourists in, blinking twice as she glanced between the Cretan's. Oh. They weren't pretty to her. Not at all. Gorilla's! That was what they were like! Big, drunk gorilla's. And they were hitting on her. Poor saps.
Lowering her gaze to her lap, she did observe Ayden's reaction out of the corner of her eyes, or maybe the lack thereof. Hidden, which she suspected was better than if he did show it. Taking a deep breath, she exhaled slowly and returned her gaze to the gorilla men, leaning back in her chair as she crossed her legs. Her finger twitched ever so slightly at the insult towards her assassin friend, but the drunken men certainly didn't observe that. Others in the restaurant were noticing this disruption, whispering amongst themselves as they watched behind their food.
"Yeah! Lessee, why doncha come back wiv' us, we'll show ya' a real man!" Again, her finger twitched. Now now, letting the fox appear would be the worst idea possible. And that idea she would not pursue. Definitely not. Exhaling slowly again, she turned her gaze to Ayden, a warm smile upon her lips. But the glint in her eyes was rather startling. They were like steel; glittering, emerald steel. "As it would seem. Would you please excuse me for a moment Ayden? I'll be right back." She touched his hand gently with her own as she rose up from her chair, the tipsy-ness gone from her. No, this had gone far enough.
"Ah so y'see reason then. C'mon sweet cheeks, we'll show ya--" "Oh I'm sure you would. Why don't you follow me hm?" She giggled, and wagged a finger towards the two men, glancing towards Ayden once more before she met a waiters gaze. He nodded and immediately gestured for the trio to follow him, heading upstairs to where some private rooms were. Jeu-Hee made sure to walk ahead of the two bumbling buffoons, ignoring their slurred comments easily. Soon enough they were allowed into one of the private rooms, this particular one sound proof and padded.
The two men looked around and gave each other a smirk, one beginning to reach for his belt. "Interesing choice of--" "Shut your goddamn face you pig." Now this caught the two men offguard, neither of them notice that the waiter had locked the door. The man with dreds spoke up first to this. "Who da fuck d'ya think ya-" "I said shut your mouth." And with that there was a flurry of motion, her boots meeting his face. Using that momentum, she pushed off with both feet and aimed a jab with her elbow into the shaven man's neck. Neither really knew what happened upon hitting the ground, dazed and confused. The shaven head man was certainly out cold, his friend thinking about attacking her.
"Don't. So just listen and tell your friend when he wakes up." She began, the sweet smile remaining upon her lips as her eyes stared coldly down at him. The effect was rather... creepy. "You insulted my friend, you are a shame to your country, and if you attack me, I promise you will end up far worse than your friend here." The dred man's face paled as he glanced to his friend, then back up to her. "Don't speak. So whats going to happen here, is you are going to go back and apologize for the trouble you've caused. Isn't that right?" She practically snapped the words upon him like a whip, her tone low and menacing. "Absolutely..." This 5'4" chick scared the shit out of him now. "Good. Then, you're going to leave and not cause any trouble. Right?" She asked sweetly as she offered a hand to him, the iciness of her gaze melting away to the honey that they normally held.
This guy was done. He had no idea how to feel right now, but like hell he was taking her hand. Pushing himself up, his buddy groaned, promptly picking him up to help him walk. "Right." Jeu-Hee grinned and clapped her hands together as she rapped twice upon the door. With that it was unlocked and opened to allow them to leave. "Thank you." She then headed back downstairs, the tourists in tow, a lovely bruise clear upon the one man's cheek.
The whispers grew as they came into view only a few minutes after leaving, the young ambassador appearing as cheerful as ever as she skipped back to her table, glancing back as she heard a puking sound. Oh. Guess hitting the skinhead in the throat wasn't such a good idea. Oh well! "Sorry about that everyone, clearly the man doesn't know etiquette. Please return to your meals." She then continued skipping and plopped brightly down in her chair, her green eyes meeting Ayden's. "Forgive me, I cannot abide gorilla's. Hows your whiskey?" It was as if nothing had happened, the one man coming up while his friend was left on the floor back by the stairs. "Ah, thats right, there's something you need to say, right?" She raised her eyes to the Cretan man, paying no mind how he shuddered at her sweet, sweet smile.

Re: Xingese Cuisine
"As it would seem. Would you please excuse me for a moment Ayden? I'll be right back."
She was... no... that couldn't... she was just a... but at the same time... questions swirled within his head. Ninety percent of him wanted to stop her, but he knew she'd take it badly and see it as weakness. Plus, she probably wouldn't kill them. "Of course. Take all the time you need, you three." He ended with a wink to the men, and saw a visible bulge in the pants of the one with dreadlocks. They were most certainly going to have a new experience.
He waited, once the trio had left the room, smiling as all eyes sat on him and all eyes listened to the sound effects coming from the nearby private suite. From the way Jeu-Hee was exhaling - audible even from the walls - and the way the waiter obeyed her quiet commands, it was obvious she had the upper hand, with the loud grunts of the fools causing Ayden to shake his head and chuckle, finishing the last of the whiskey as the pair came out.
He didn't hear most of the conversation trailing out - it was too far-off do define anything other than the ambassador's quiet, stern tone - and then when she returned, they bumbled in, one seeing several pools of regurgitated beer and lunch violently spew forth from the skinhead's mouth. Ayden smiled. She'd certainly done a number on them.
"Ah, that's right, there's something you need to say, right?"
Almost immediately, they replied, Ayden's head twisting slowly towards them. "Uhh... yeah, we're well sorry for interruptin' your dinners an' everyfing. Get back to that-" Ayden interrupted, finally, moving slowly to his feet and holding up a finger.
"If I may... I'm a doctor, let me give a little diagnosis. I insist." He moved up to the shocked guy with dreads, despite him having sustained no wounds other than the massive one to his ego. Ayden pretended to look him up and down, before pretending to peer over his shoulder and look down at his back. "...hm, yes..."
With that, his voice dropped to a whisper and a quiet click of the hammer cocking on a revolver was barely audible from a five feet radius around the men. It appeared the one puking nearby had heard it as well, or seen the after-effects as the gorilla-like Cretan's hands began to quiver, his pallor draining to a sickly white. "Here's the deal," Ayden muttered under his breath.
"I'm holding a .44 magnum revolver at your dick right now. One of the most powerful revolvers available on the market. I have another on my waist, six throwing knives, a set of Aerugese shortswords, and a pair of .45 pistols at my shins. So don't even think of fighting back."
"The next time you even consider approaching a woman like that - and trust me, I know a lot of people, in a lot of bars, all around the world, so, you're not safe anywhere - I'll paint the room with your balls. Don't think I won't. I do this for a fucking living." With that, he shot the man a stern look, before his face moved into a smile, he eased the hammer back down, and slapped the man on the cheek, speaking up louder. "But, yeah, get some sleep tonight, get your buddy to get some ice on the affected areas, and you'll be fine tomorrow. Just be careful who you size up to, next time, right?" He winked and began to chuckle, as the skinhead scurried away, Ayden stepping back one, and the hulking man stumbling backwards, almost falling over, and bolting into the alley as fast as he could, joining his cohort in violently projectile vomiting all over the once clean streets of Xi'an.
He loved this. It was what he did for a living. You kill one man, he dies, his family and friends are distraught. You kill one man, and you kill him well, you instil fear into everyone who can see, everyone who can hear about it, and their family. It had much more gravity, made so many ripples. And Ayden loved doing it, and chuckled at the fools. Everyone caved into fear sooner or later.
And there were no exceptions. You just had to be on the right side of it.
He chuckled once more. That wouldn't stop for a good two hours at least. Then they'd start blaming each other. Then they'd blame the bartender, and go find him, then remember Ayden's advice. It would be with them for a good two years, perhaps more. Psychological warfare indeed.
With that, he grasped his seat, stuck his hands - both of them - onto the glass, and smiled up at Jeu-Hee. "You can certainly be a dangerous woman when you want to, Miss Han," He smiled. "But, before that little... interruption... where were we?"

Re: Xingese Cuisine
It was coarse, but it would do for an apology. Least he had done it, otherwise.... Well... maybe they wouldn't be leaving here in one piece. That she knew for sure. Blinking as Ayden interrupted them, she remained in her chair and merely watched the interesting assassin go. Chuckling, she poured herself a cup full of the sake and downed it in a gulp, her eyes squeezing shut at its strength. Ohhhh bad ideas for the win....
Her green orbs returned to the two men, cocking her head as she watched the dreds mans face pale even more than it had before. And she couldn't help it, she grinned. She had to. She couldn't hear what Ayden was saying, but she could take a few guesses. She thought that there might have been movement, especially considering simply how pale the mans face was. Perhaps it was excessive having all this done to these poor drunken fools, but... For once, she couldn't say that it wasn't deserved. Aiya, she had certainly spread some bad karma about. But it was once out of the sea of good! Sooo... maybe she'd be fine?
More puking. Jeez, how much had these men drank?! Everyone now stared at her and Ayden, especially her now that she was back in the room. A nervous, yet bright, smile was given in answer as she shrugged innocently. She could only be sorry so much! Least with this. The staff clearly weren't thrilled with the prospect of cleaning up puke, but they went to it, the chimeran girl shrinking a bit more into her chair. Hehehe.... oopsie? Least they were gone right? That mattered more. And they certainly wouldn't do that again!
The way that Ayden returned to their table got her thinking once more about him. He must have enjoyed whatever he just did for she had heard his chuckling. Did that mean he had a sadistic streak? Her eyes lowered into her sake cup, its small porcelain surface offering no comfort. As long as it was justified... would she be ok with that? They were so different in more ways than one, and some of those opposites... Would they end up clashing together? Only one way to find out. Keep smiling!
Hearing him sit down, she raised her eyes to him and giggled rather adorably at his compliment, blushing once more. "Heehee, thank you. I've picked up things over the years." Aiya, she did like his smile. Again the sake bottle tipped, filling her glass as the tipsy feeling returned in a rush now that the immediate threat was gone. "Lets see.... I believe we were observing my failure of holding liquor." Laughing, more sake disappeared down her throat before the cup was placed down again.
Leaning forward a bit, she blinked slowly once, then twice. Her eyes met his once more as a goofy smile was on her features. "Mm... Ayden, if you got a contract to kill me, would you do it?" She asked rather suddenly, that limiter on what she might ask gone as she stared at him. Yes, she was now slightly drunk. Yes, she was acting childish again. But the way that she looked at him... it was hard to describe. There was knowledge, there was curiosity, there was hesitancy, there was an affection. No... if he were to be the one that killed her, she felt like she'd be ok with that. Probably. Her brows furrowed as she started to reach up a hand to pet a strand of his hair, but it faltered before lowering into her lap, hanging off of her leg.

Re: Xingese Cuisine
"That I can see." He chuckled and ran his finger around the bottom of the inside of his glass. "Be careful, you might-" His observation was promptly cut off by another question. For the first time during their meeting, for a short while, Ayden was absolutely stunned. For a bad reason.
If he...
He tried to fool himself, but it wasn't possible. He knew it was a very real idea. It could easily happen if she screwed up with diplomacy, even the Emperor could hire someone to 'permanently' remove her from her position, if he were that way inclined. He had thought on it some, and, infact, the whole conflict with himself stemmed from that.
But he had his answer. "No." He said the word solid, and straight. "I'm independent. I don't have to take on any job at all. And despite people having things to hold over me, some debts I owe them, and some goals in the future..." He paused. "Well, I'll be damned if I'd sacrifice you for that."
With that over the way, he stared up at her, and smiled, too, waiting for her response, both with her body and her words. And it wasn't his usual sick, twisted, sadistic, or bloodthirsty smile. It was... fond. And it was legitimate. He was really, honestly happy. It was... revolutionary. Personally, anyway.
"If..." He stopped for a while, and went back over the words he'd prepared in his head. Damn. She was staring. He had to make this come out the right way, or he'd lose all and every chance he could possibly ever get. "If you were worried about that... please. Don't be. In the first place, it's... just a job. And some people take differing amounts of pleasure in theirs. And, yes, I can be brutal, I can be ruthless, and I can be cold as hell."
He was being dead serious now. A pause for her to soak it in, but then his tone changed, becoming lighter as he continued. "But at the end of the day, like I said, it's just a job. The adrenaline... gets to me. I'm completely different to now, and that's no lie, which is why..."
A pause.
"Never mind." He murmured quietly, shaking the issue away and awaiting her response for what he had said. It was too hopeful, too idealistic, too embarrassing snatching at too many straws that could possibly just be false leads. She could be stringing him along. He'd let his guard down once again, and this was bad whatever the weather... hopefully she'd just ignore it...
God, he was such an idiot.

Re: Xingese Cuisine
Instinctively, she was aware her question had caught him off-guard and normally she'd feel a bit bad about that fact. But right now, she felt like it was important she ask that now rather than later. Otherwise all she would think about is the simple fact of would he kill her. She almost said, 'you don't have to answer,' but that would again be a lie. Whether it was because she was now part animal, or if she was just that perceptive, they had to get over this hurdle if they really were to pursue this. For her, being able to fully trust him even though she already did to a point. Part of her nature, she trusted, in part, so easily. This was serious though. This was... different. For both of them. She could only imagine what might be going through his head at this moment in time.
"No." Just that one word was enough to allow her to relax. In fact, it was as if a great weight was gone from her and the smile that spread across her entire self shone with the warmth of the sun. She did not interrupt, for he had to speak his piece. It was soon shifted as roses bloomed in her cheeks, contrasting her pale skin noticeably. "Well, I'll be damned if I'd sacrifice you for that." She was touched, truly. In reality she wasn't quite sure how she felt for it was such a mixture of affection, relief, joy, and appreciation that it left her in a place of serenity.
Then he smiled.
And by the seasons, Jeu-Hee felt something click in her head. Now, she understood. Now she knew what she would have spoken about with her friends if she were younger. She started to lean forward ever so slightly, but she stopped herself, an almost shy yet happy smile upon her lips replacing the one before it. God, she was shy. When was the last time she had felt shy? Never. Pfft, she knew that. Even amongst the swirling of the alcohol she knew that. Giggling in this realization, she briefly glanced away towards her feet as that embarrassment hit her like a ton of bricks. She started to reach for the sake bottle to pour herself some more, but if she did... would she remember the night? She wanted to remember it. So she left the bottle alone.
He was speaking again, immediately drawing her gaze to meet his despite the red that was still apparent on her face. At least she didn't feel as shy. Instead it was like she had fireworks going off and she was that child running about screaming with excitement. But all inside of her. To him, her eyes were glittering with that sensation along with her smile, yet she was calm. Even hearing that he could be some of the things that normally she shied away from and disliked.... It was ok. Somehow that was just ok. She didn't even feel the fear that he'd find out she was a chimerae! God, what was this!
So she merely nodded in understanding, her expression unchanging as she turned so she faced him more in her chair. Adrenaline could do many things... She knew its effects. She'd been on enough jobs to understand. Even with the gorilla's she knew it. As he drifted to a pause, another click in her mind and without hesitation her hand reached out and took his, giving it a gentle squeeze as if to spread the warmth that she felt. Or hell, everything she was feeling.
He tried to excuse what he had said with his 'Never mind,' but it only caused her features to soften. She was a mature child, two of the things she could be blending on a very rare occasion. And she didn't care about the possible stares right now, certainly the alcohol helping with that.
So she kissed him.
It was a quick motion. She had leaned forward to him, rising enough since she needed to, her lips touching his softly as her eyes drifted closed. As soon as it had happened, it was done, already easing back into her chair as her emerald eyes hesitantly glanced up to his. Boundaries... she didn't know them right now. The only thing that remained constant in that, was her hand still held his. Aaaand her face was colored like a peach, creamy and red. "U-um... S-sorry... I-I.." She stammered, whatever diplomatic skills she could employ gone and out the window. Yet she couldn't let go of his hand, even as her eyes lowered to them as if she had jedi mind powers to pull them apart.

Re: Xingese Cuisine
It was gone as soon as it came. A fleeting motion. It could have meant nothing, he could have shook it off as an ambush, but he knew when she moved towards him, there was an eternity of time, as if she was spiraling through in slow motion, both before and after, for him to react. The warmth that came and went... so foreign yet so welcome. It was a beautiful feeling. That close, she felt and smelt and even the touch of her lips... it was all melded into a single channel of feeling, overflowing with pure, raw emotion. Passion.
And he just sat there. Stunned as he'd ever been, as she retracted, flushing that red, as she did, and opened her mouth to speak. "U-um... S-sorry... I-I.." Ayden spoke, cutting her off before he could even think about it.
"Don't." It was a quiet word, a single one uttered quietly, before he moved back towards her, offering himself as she had in return, to mirror her gesture with her own. He moved his entire stance and posture up, so he stood over her slightly, but wasn't too imposing - after all, she was almost a full foot shorter - and he pressed his lips to hers, his hand going to the back of her head, the pair of them quickly wrapped in the most passionate embrace Ayden had ever felt. Perhaps the only one he'd ever felt.
But it came so naturally. He knew what to do, where to rest his hands, how to push his body against hers... and once more, it was quick, perhaps five seconds together, despite it feeling like forever and a moment. Once it was done, he moved back into his seat, and smiled back up at her. It was awkward. It would be, naturally. So he just had to smile through it, grin and bear it. It was worth it. God, was it worth it.
"Don't be sorry." He let out a short, sharp, and nasal laugh. "There's no need to be. I..." He chuckled nervously. It was time to let it all out, show his hand, reveal what he'd been holding to himself. "I wanted it just as much as you did." He said softly.
What was he... doing... so... stupid. The flames inside him burned and raged harder than ever... but now, it seemed like something was suppressing them. With ease. A rain, a heavy shower of another emotion that could dampen rage, the flipside to it, the yin to its yang.
Passion.
And he was just burning full of it.
And he just sat there. Stunned as he'd ever been, as she retracted, flushing that red, as she did, and opened her mouth to speak. "U-um... S-sorry... I-I.." Ayden spoke, cutting her off before he could even think about it.

Was this really happening? Had she really just done that? Sure she was impulsive sometimes, but not like THAT. The what if's began to dance all around her already spinning brain, her heart racing within her chest. She would like the butterflies in her stomach to stop dancing please!! It wasn't mixing well with the alcohol in her system. But but... But this was really happening right?! Ancestors, please don't let this be a passing thing. Please.... She was hurtling down this road into unknown territory and if it were any other situation she'd feel so much more comfortable about it. But this was different. God was this different....
"Don't." A single word whispered so softly offered all the comfort that she needed in order to relax. It made her eyes raise up to him, the hesitancy within them lessening with each passing second. It was as if she just knew how to move as he drew close, finding herself rising from her chair even as the stares looked on. They didn't matter, not at all. Only this. This moment, this feeling, this... closeness. It was the only thing in the world right now, just them with all of those things filling it with light. As he bent down, her arms reached up to accept him, all of him into her. They slid around his neck as their lips met, her small body getting engulfed by him.
No one. Not a one, had she ever felt this connected to. And the moment had passed. Her arms slid away to hang at her sides, sitting slowly back into her chair as the whispers rushed at her like the waves upon a shore. No. They didn't matter. Her smile was a melting pot of that moment that passed, the giddiness in her blood, the color in her cheeks... And she giggled as he let out that small laugh. They were just babes in this situation, testing the water while splashing each other playfully. It was... beautiful. "I wanted it just as much as you did."
"Hey, do you want to take a walk with me?" She asked him as she popped up from her chair, picking up her bag of leftovers as her other hand extended towards him. "Take a night on the town, all that jazz. It's getting stuffy in here, don't you agree?" She tilted her head and giggled softly, her eyes briefly glancing in the direction of the stares of the other patrons. They could go away! She... She was usually happy. But this.. This was an entirely different level, and she wanted to enjoy it as long as it went!

"Take a night on the town, all that jazz. It's getting stuffy in here, don't you agree?" He smiled, nodding, and downing the last of his water, heading for the door. It was... it was time to go. Time to see where the foundations of what could possibly be an oh-so-fruitful relationship would take them. Even if it was for but a night.
With a nod, he moved back in the chair, sliding it gently against the floor, and moving up to his full height, stretching, bending back his knees, rotating his shoulders, trying to force blood - and, subsequently, oxygen - into every muscle to get his circulation going again. He was... well... more excited than he'd been in weeks. Sure, the killing was fun... but nothing ever like this.
A twinkle in his eyes. A smile upon his face. He held out his hand, hanging in the air, the perfect symbolism for the moment, for her to grasp, when he would subsequently gently help pull her up to her feet, and once she was, he would interlock his fingers with hers, and the pair of them would hold on for dear life walking throughout the streets of Xi'an.
Ayden knew that this could mean he'd be vulnerable. His one weakness. His focal point, the crack in his armour. She would get him to lower his guard. But it also meant that all those lonely nights, those days sitting around in the Amestrian wild researching, alone, with no-one to talk to... they... he would have a partner. Someone to talk to, even if it was just mad rambling.
Whether he realised it or not, it was the same for every human. A lack of contact and being able to truly talk to someone - more so with a high-risk, high-reward job like Ayden's - made you crazed, and delirious, and Ayden, in a more sane state, such as the one he inhabited now, would say that this was the reason for his apparent psychopathy. Other than that... well, he was by no stretch a good person. He was a sadist. He was an assassin. He had a bloodlust in his soul that would never be sated.
But perhaps... perhaps she'd help take care of that need, that empty void in his soul, become the solution to his dilemmas one step at a time.
Dammit. He was just as weak as everyone else.

Now! Where to go, where to go.... Ooo, they could go by the gardens! Or no.. Maybe just down the streets that wound through the city? No! Meh, she decided she should let her feet lead them. Or maybe he'd have places he wanted to go too, she didn't know. It was an adventure! Heehee~ A brand new adventure, and she didn't want any other companion. Your smile has always been infectious little one. Her fathers voice rang in her head, and it made her giggle slightly to herself. This was going to be fun!!
As her green gaze met his, it positively tickled her to see that twinkling in his besides her own. Reflecting, refracting, shimmering all about. And his smile. It made her blush, though faint, stick around for another moment. Taking his hand, their fingers did lace together, her head reaching just about his shoulder but it didn't bother her. She knew she was short, and her shoes barely offered any aid in that department. Touching her head to his shoulder gently, they headed to the stairs, careful to avoid the lingering puke from the gorilla-men before. Silly gorilla men!
The doors were opened for them as the night air greeted the pair, Jeu-Hee humming brightly to herself as she paused on the corner to glance around the streets. "Which way to go... Where to go~ Where to go~" She murmured in a sing-song voice, pouting slightly as she glanced up to him. Ah, pensive was he! But that was ok, this was a big change for both of them! Especially him. So she took off in a direction, gently pulling him along as her impulsivity took over once more. Her mind was such a whirl of booze, giddiness, and and and WHEEEEE!!! It made her giggle, slowing as she fell into step with Ayden.
It was strange... She felt very in-tune with everything around her, and her animal form especially. Oooo, she did want to go running around as a fox~~ NOOOO. Nononononononono BAD. In her mind, she smacked the impulse, almost stumbling in her step as she touched her head to his arm again. Ayden, do you have a favorite flower or anything?" She asked him peering up at him as she began to walk in a slightly silly manner, kicking her legs up too high along with her arms. Basically, exaggerating her walk. Subconsciously, she was leading them towards one of the gardens of the city, and one of her favorites for one big reason. The water lilies. Ooo, and it was night.... IT WOULD BE GORGEOUS! As it hit her, she straightened up and a skip was added to her step, trying her damndest not to end up pulling him along.

Re: Xingese Cuisine
The walk was relatively peaceful. He had never been a huge fan of gardens, but, hey, the Xingese were awesome with their food. Why shouldn't they be with their plants? He'd heard stories of the amount of care Xi'an's gardeners put into the public gardens, and how it became their life fairly quickly.
Either way, he wasn't too bothered, for once. He had faith she'd take him somewhere that either meant something to her, the symbolism she'd - which he had no problem with - or something that she'd thought they'd both enjoy; and so far, her character seemed to be a perfect match for his. She was the sweet to his sour, it appeared, but neither came without a bite; albeit Ayden's a lot more obvious than hers.
"Ayden, do you have a favorite flower or anything?"
A favourite flower? Well, it was a bit of an odd question. He'd never really considered it. Staring down at the ponds, he saw her looking over towards the lilies as they reached the gardens, ornate, and beautifully structured, her head pressed against his shoulder the entire time. She was almost child-like... and it should have been odd, the heights, the ages, just... everything... but it wasn't. The flawlessness was unreal.
"I..." He chuckled quietly, before leading on. "I have to admit, no, I've never really thought on it... but... this... this is beautiful." He broke away from her caress slowly and moved towards one of the pillars, encircled with a flowering vine, as he ran his hands up and down the engraving and the plant itself. "I never knew man and nature could be so harmonious together."

Re: Xingese Cuisine
Soon they arrived to her favorite place, lanterns dangling from lattice work above them, their glow faint against the blaring city lights. There was one main rectangular pool that was filled with lily pads and the lotus blossoms of various species, the occasional dragonfly drifting by. There were circular pools at other corners, other trees and flowers planted about the garden. Overall, it was very peaceful. Quiet even compared to the streets that they had departed for this.
Vines wove up pillars that supported the lattice above them, the vines curling between those openings. The stars sparkling above, moonlight, and a loved-- Yeah... She wasn't sure if this was fully love or working its way there, but either way. She was here with someone special. Very very special. Unconsciously she squeezed his hand gently, the black water glittering with all the lights above them, reflecting so many things in her eyes. Hopes, dreams, the possible... Hell, even the impossible!! This place was magical to her, and she loved it dearly. She hoped he'd like it too. It wasn't like she'd ever done this before. This could be called a date now, yes? Yes! A giggle rolled from her throat, her long hair flowing freely down to the backs of her thighs.
Humming a soft tune to no one in particular, she realized how random she was being right now and she didn't even know if she should blame anything. The sake was an ember of warmth in her stomach and Ayden's hand holding her own was the heat in her chest. She slowed to a stop next to a beautifully shaped blossom, its petals a delicate pink that truly was a real example of what was so often associated with Buddha.
His hand slid from hers as he moved away, drawing her attention as he moved through the pillars. To hear that he liked even a part of this place made the brightest smile flow over her youthful features, her humming now gone so she could listen to him. Brushing her hair behind her ears, it spilled in front of one shoulder, chuckling as she walked next to the ponds of water lilies. Kneeling down next to a grouping of tiny red lilies, she giggled as ran a hand through her hair as her eyes lost focus. "It's alright, not everyone has given it thought. I just love nature and..." She drifted a finger through the water, watching the ripples that flowed outward. Like their meeting that night. Her decision to eat there. All a ripple effect leading to where they were now. The Aerugese philosophers had gotten something right for sure. "I love water lilies the most."
Raising her green eyes, she watched him run his hand over the pillar, her bag of leftovers now resting next to her. A man of death, a man of blood... And he was so at ease now. Was that really all of her doing? Her smile faltered and shrank till it barely seemed to be there, staring down at the glowing petals. If he knew all of what she was, would he still accept it anyways? Would he feel rivalry from what she used to do? She'd never told anyone before, not even Saeji who was her emperor. She stared at her reflection in the water, seeing her fox-self stare back at her in that imperfect mirror. "Oh they can. We have to find that perfect balance if we want to respect this world that we live on. Sometimes its easier to find the appreciation for it, and sometimes its not." She murmured, forcing herself not to worry about it as she called up her smile. Yes, keep smiling!
A firefly flew past her, landing in the center of a water lily, its soft glow adding the perfect mystical touch. She was being silly. He obviously had his secrets, and she accepted them without even knowing what they might be. He would do the same for her. Glancing up to him, she turned her attention away as more fireflies emitted their glow, the perfect distraction from her thoughts. Giggling, she held out a hand for one to land on, her insecurities hiding back within her skin for now. "Fireflies~ Neh, neh, Ayden. What do you do in your free time?" Her gaze drifted back to him as she lost sight of her target firefly. She was going to catch one dammit! And keep those down down thoughts away!

She was right. She was... so right. It seemed like they had established some sort of link; everything she thought aligned perfectly with what he felt. It had happened a few times at the beginning of their encounter, but by now it simply felt flawless. With a final wayward glance at the pillar, he took her hand in his once more, willing her to lean back against him, looking down as she spoke of hobbies and free time.
Well... this one was going to a little bit harder to work with. In reality, his work was his free time... but he did that for money. As much as he enjoyed it, it was just a way of getting further in his research. So... "I guess... aside from the work, I research further into alchemy... other than that..." He laughed quietly, pure, and unusual for him.
"I guess I read. Modern and classic literature, plays, poetry, prose, all the same to me, so long as someone's expressing their emotions... I... well, I tend to enjoy it." He slowly let himself loose from the grip, and moved his hand to her hair, for once... and the structure, the texture, it all felt so familiar from battle, and suddenly that rage, but for a moment, flooded back into him, the recognition of war, but in a moment, the overwhelming passion suppressed it back down as Ayden realised how close he'd come to trying to crush her skull, or snap her neck, or...
It didn't bear thinking about. His heart slowed, and he tried to make the movement of his fingers as slow and comforting as he could, stroking his bare, soft hand against her hair as she had done to him before, tilting his head towards hers ever so slightly. "I like music, and films, too. Classical for the former, and, well... same for the latter, I guess..." Nothing more than a whisper, as he continued with a question. "I... what about you?"
This... this would take some adjusting to.

Re: Xingese Cuisine
They were going to be fine. All would be fine--Oooo a firefly! Pushing herself up, she had a look of utmost concentration as she reached out to that glowing little bug. Aaand, yes! She closed her hands about it carefully, peeking inbetween her fingers to see if it was there. It was! Giggling, she opened up her hands and observed as the little bug walked along her hand. His movement caused her to look up, flashing him a smile as her hand slid into his once more. Extending her free hand with its visitor, the lightning bug soon flew off, her head resting against his shoulder. She wondered if this sense of serenity was the one that Buddha found. The rising sounds of the night couldn't penetrate this place of quiet, a very soft wind chime ringing out across the air.
Raising her eyes up as he spoke, she couldn't help but smirk within her mind. He worked a lot. But if he enjoyed it, she could hardly judge. But his laugh dispelled all of that, finding herself snuggling more against him. Super affectionate mode go! No wait, was that bad? Meh, her body rested against his, so small but it didn't matter. Light and shadow, war and love... After all, Aphrodite and Aries were lovers. Why couldn't they? Mm... Maybe they should see a play sometime. She hadn't been to one since she was little. It was certainly a thought now.
Her gaze lowered back to the lilies, a very content smile sliding throughout her whole body as he began to run his fingers through her hair. If she had a weakness, ohhhhh that was one. She loved having someone stroke her hair or pet her head, or both. But.. danger? She sensed a threat, but it was all so hazy... Damned alcohol.. She could feel her animal rise within her, but NO. No bad fox! Bad bad fox! Don't let him see. Just... just not yet... She didn't want him to see that yet. She had made a promise to herself after she left that facility. Don't change unless you absolutely had to. If your life is in danger, if you need to protect someone, or.... She squeezed his hand as her eyes drifted closed. Or if you needed to tell someone special. Exhaling slowly, she could feel his warmth and it was soothing for her nerves.
They would be fine... the sense of danger vanished as she imitated a purr with a giggle. Cats did get that right, purring was the perfect way to demonstrate happiness. But she did perk up a little, "Movies? I love movies!" She blinked and giggled nervously since it had been so spontaneous of her, her eyes opening to glance from him, to the water, then down at her now very interesting feet. She did her best not to blush, but some of it still peeked through despite her efforts. At least his question offered a distraction.
Humming, she stood up a little straighter, trying to resist the sleepiness that her hair being stroked caused. "What do I do.... Lets see.... Visiting the various gardens of the city.." She giggled, that one felt obvious. Biting her lower lip, she settled back against him, sighing lightly. "I also read though most of it is fiction. Or comics. Or manga. Hehe." She gave him a sheepish sort of smile, rolling through her mind what else she did... "Video games.... Oh, I study other languages and cultures. I'll visit my parents sometimes.... Dancing in the rain... Singing, and music too yep yep... And traveling of course. Though I guess that'd count more towards my job hm?" She mused, the sensation of the alcohol in her system fading away slowly. Mmm.... she was so at peace....

She giggled, that one felt obvious.

He shrugged, continuing to gently stroke her head. "So not too much, then?" He looked down at her and stuck his tongue out, before continuing to gently shrug, trying not to scare her off with too much intense physical movement. Probably, I dunno..." His sight trailed and spun until he locked on on the starry night sky once more.
He was almost hypnotised by it for a moment, totally still save for rotating the area he stroked, repeating the same, simple mundane action... it was such a beautiful night. And the garden... the fireflies... everything was coming in at such a slow, welcome pace.
He used his free hand to idly gesture towards a nearby bench, muttering something of sitting down and how she looked to be getting a little tired, before shuffling towards it, trying to pull her along, too. It seemed as if the alcohol, its warmth, and the short burst of enthusiasm it had provided had began to sweep out; and with every high came a low.
He sat Jeu-Hee down on the bench gently, before, moments later, seating himself, now throwing his arm around her fully, allowing it to rest on her shoulder and drape down over her torso, before sticking his feet out and staring across at the centerpiece of the garden, almost temple-like, and admiring how the fireflies lit it up, letting her rest her head on his body, savouring the two synchronised beatings of their hearts, easily felt through the closeness of the pair of them, as well as the slow breathing, the simultaneous rising and falling of their chests in perfect alignment. It was true harmony.
"You look a little tired..." He wasn't trying to drag her back to his place, or force himself upon her, no, for once. He didn't want to become just another potential predator, another meaningless man who had pretended to be something he wasn't. He... cared. She looked as if she needed to rest. In all honesty, sex was the furthest thing from his mind, and battle in a steady second, the passion overwhelming, having inflected his decision-making, apparently almost reversing his priorities, too.

Chuckling, she shook her head, "Not too much at all." Jeu-Hee murmured as she laughed softly. He was being too cute to be an assassin~~ No no no assassin~ Oh her mind was going loopy as she was eased into a pleasant lull by his pettings of her hair. Mmm.... foxy wanted to curl up in his lap.... WOAH NO. No no, she wasn't going foxy! Her eyes opened slowly and lingered upon the shimmering water, her smile gone from her face. Thankfully her hair blocked her face from view on the sides. Foxy.... Would he like foxy? Would he not even care? Should she change into foxy? Foxy was lonely.
Meh.... Thinking was so haaaaaard......
Perking up a little to his gesture, she nodded, giving his hand a small squeeze. It was good that he was helping her because she might have stumbled a bit otherwise. She was being so doooown! This was bad! Why was she not up? Oh wait.... Alcohol was a downer.... DUHHH..... She knew what she wouldn't do very often! She had to keep smiling, had to.
So the faintest content smile rose up to her lips as she snuggled up to his torso, her arm curling around his stomach. "Mmm... I can hear your heart~" Giggling a little, the statement was spoken as if it were a thought that drifted by, soothed as he held her. Mmm.... foxy was sleepy..... He was warm, and his hair was soft. She was slipping, slipping away to dreamland, completely missing his statement on her appearance. Obviously he was correct. If it were anyone else, she'd be worried about how and where she'd wake up, but with him? Well, she just knew he'd be a gentleman about this. And if he wasn't, she'd show him the wrath of foxy!
Her body relaxed fully against him, her breath coming slow and steady. If she didn't seem like a child before, she really seemed like one now. Her one leg was bent and curled under her on the bench, the other brushing up against his. Her arms had slipped around his body, though they lacked the strength that they held seconds before. The long, dark strands of her hair slid across her face as the soft lanterns glow illuminated the pair of them.

Re: Xingese Cuisine
Within moments, Jeu-Hee was asleep. Ayden stared down her, somewhat surprised at first, but he slowly shifted his legs up onto the bench, too, keeping one arm on her, and sticking his free palm behind his head as a rest, whilst he stared up at the sky. Peace. No, he knew she was beautiful, and a brilliant, amazing person... and the way he felt... but it was tiring. Peace was... nice.
His brow furrowed. He... had to leave. First thing the next morning. He shifted his hand to his pocket, and dug in, pulling his phone out and flipping it open. Hm. It was almost one. People were probably wondering where she was... well, she could spend the night at his hotel room. There was only one bed, but he presumed it'd be fine. Temporarily, at least.
He prodded her cheek with a single finger.
A pause. She stirred but for a moment, before going back to her sleep, breathing lightly. Ayden smiled fondly once more. To wake her would be almost criminal. So... he calculated the distance... his hotel wasn't far at all. He remembered, on choosing it, he wanted it near both the markets, the gardens, and the restaurant, having meant to visit both. And when the pair had moved... they'd gotten closer.
He swung his legs back around, before moving her into the most comfortable position - presumably - she could get into, cradling her almost like a baby, before he began on the path leading to the hotel. There were only a few people that caught sight of him, and even then, he moved briskly, but not suspiciously, swaying from side to side as he did so, pondering what this all meant.
It only felt like a few moments before he drew up to the hotel, shifting around reception, digging his key out from his back pocket, so far his mission not to disturb her having been successful, before gently sliding it into the door, twisting the lock, and throwing it open, taking one final glance out at the Xingese night sky before shutting it quietly behind him, walking in, and setting her down - gently as he could - before removing his jacket, bottoms, shirt, leaving nothing on but his boxers.
However, it wasn't past him to completely ignore his tradition. He removed one of the Children from their holsters, and tucked it underneath his pillow, setting its brother on the nightstand, shuffling the tanto, throwing knives, revolvers, and his gloves underneath the bed, before drawing the curtains, and laying down next to her, so he could get a final glance at her before pulling the covers over... and finally getting to sleep, dreams of Jeu-Hee firmly implanted in his mind.
