DESCRIPTION:
→ Heiden stands with a somewhat gaunt frame, appearing very thin, and ever so slightly weak. To parallel his personality, he's very soft-spoken, bearing a mid-length head of sandy blonde hair, with a few brown streaks, covering both ears. He's got two small, narrow green eyes, and usually dons a simple shirt and slacks, along with a hat and some sort of shades.

He takes a lot of care in everything he does, his actions are always very slow and he tries to usually keep himself to himself, being as quiet as possible. Should someone of an aggravated character approach him, he'll try to do his best to avoid engaging them in any sort of combat which he views as an absolute last resort.

He quite often makes it perfectly clear he's an alchemist, bearing no shame for it, so streams of sand may surround his fingers, ground off from a source; something he carries a lot of with him, usually around four or five small pouches at a time. He's got a supply in his backpack.

PERSONALITY:
→ Heiden is a man of simple morals and a set of simple creeds, the most important of which being 'respect the land, and in turn, it shall bear bounty to you', learnt from his father, a Xingese farmer. He has a firm sense of right and wrong, and like most other people, when he believes there is an injustice in dire circumstances which affect him or his family, he will, if called to arms, stand against it.

He holds a set of honour and despises those who view killing as a trivial act; however, what he doesn't show so openly is that, since breaking his mother out of prison, he's begun to hate himself for that one act of murder he committed, cutting a young man's life short in order to keep the news of his mother's jailbreak as quiet as possible until they'd left the country.

He sees the man's fear every night, and vows never to kill again, and honestly views combat as a last resort, disgusted by those boisterous brutes who openly bear arms. He can, of course, understand if one is a survivalist, harbours no friendship to gunslingers and duelists alike. He does understand the reasonings of most soldiers, who simply want to protect their home, but doesn't believe the way the entire world works is right. And whilst he opposes it, he knows that changing it is a pie in the sky; idealistic, but futile.

So for now, he chooses to go around and see what life grants him; perhaps fate, or lady luck, or whatever she's named, will perhaps in time grant him the opportunity to change people for the better.

And once more; whilst he hates those who fight, he believes that some must sacrifice themselves to bear arms for the greater good, and by that right, when it comes to it, he is a soldier, but a soldier of righteousness when called to arms. He tries his best to stay somewhat inconspicuous, however.

HISTORY:
→ Heiden Zheng was born to parents Jun Zheng and Amelia Tsurugi, his father being a fully Xingese farmer, and his mother the byproduct of a fling between an Amestrian soldier and an Aerugese woman with a strict sense of tradition.

Brought up to respect the land, knowing if he did, he'd be able to use it to his needs, Heiden had a fairly simple childhood helping his father with the farm, and when his mother assimilated a nearby restaurant, he essentially became the middleman, taking the meat, crops, and other supplies from the farm to the restaurant, the three having forged themselves a simplistic yet suitable lifestyle. Heiden knew little of luxuries and had grown up so far on a rural homestead, and began to take charge over the farm at moments when his slowly aging father fell into lapses of illness or otherwise found himself unable to take charge of the farm.

Around twenty-two, Heiden fell infatuated with another Xingese woman. The pair slowly moved into love's bounds and began to form ambitions, ideas, a world the humble farmer's son had never been introduced into. It was... beautiful to him. He never knew life could hold so much. He wanted to hold her for the rest of their days and grow old with her already.

And things could only get better - Heiden's mother had been hired to be head cook at the Jade Palace, and for a couple of years, things went brilliantly. Everything was smooth as could be, and, one day, Heiden proposed to his paramour, and she accepted. The pair were newly engaged, and the parents of both family were happy as could be for their children.

And then... it all took a turn for the worse.

Amelia was cooking late in the night at the Palace, one of the last of the staff around, when guards came rushing through, bearing news of the death of Cao and Xiang Aeries - the Emperors of Xing. Seeing her holding a set of cleavers and wearing a bloodstained shirt from working with meat, she was immediately arrested, although she knew it was all a misunderstanding. They'd blood-test her gear, and... it'd come out as animal blood, and it'd all be fine.

Except... well, it didn't. It appeared, somehow, the blood tests were going to take weeks to go through. Heiden and Jun were informed the next morning when their mother didn't return, and immediately, Jun accepted her fate; although for Heiden, this wasn't the case. He began to - a once peaceful farmer boy - stock up on weaponry, much to his father's dismay, and planned to break his mother from jail.

When realising he had his heart firmly set on it, Jun revealed to Heiden he had some of his mother's brother's alchemy books - which he'd left after arriving from Amestris - and... four alchemically engraved finger gauntlets. Armed with knowledge and naught more, Heiden, after spending months investigating into the strange science, snuck into the prison one night, and broke his mother out... when a young night guard, who couldn't have been older than 19, happened upon them, and ran to tell the guard centre.

Heiden... realising this was the sacrifice his father had spoken to him about... sacrificed what he believed to be his own honour and dignity, and... killed the man, using the alchemy to strike a bolt of sand through his heart. The pair were initially stunned by what the boy had done, but Amelia took Heiden to the vehicle he'd prepared, and the two began to drive off into Amestris, labeled as fugitives in Xing forevermore.

Amelia recovered from the malnourishment quickly, but Heiden never did from the only act of murder he'd ever committed. Branding himself one of the horrors of the world he so hated, his mother took care of him until they reached his aunt and uncle's in Amestris, when he took his leave of them, and became... very simply... a drifter. A murderer with no name, no value, hoping that he could distance himself from the life he'd set up.

ALCHEMICAL ABILITY:
→ As the Sandstorm Alchemist, at level one, Heiden can manipulate the level of molecular strength of sand, allowing him to change the form of it so long as he has a viable source (usually a pouch of sand). He can recreate this into a much more solid structure, such as a makeshift shield or something of similar strength; however, this is an irreversible process, meaning that until he finds a method to deconstruct it, the sand is stuck in this way and cannot be changed back to the original form. Ever. Ever ever. Until he finds a way to deconstruct it.

Dude can make some sweet-ass stone hammers though. And knives, too.

So he could start with breaking down rocks into sand. That is one special ability in itself. Soooooooo just pick one ability and go with it! x3
