”I have used God’s gift of creation to bring two children into this world, and shall use his gift of destruction to rid the world of your kind.”
...........................................................................

FULL NAME:
→ Helena Castilla, a.k.a. “Valentín el Árbitro”

AGE:
→ 34

SEX:
→ Female

BIRTH PLACE:
→ Havana

RACE:
→ Esparian

DEPARTMENT:
→ Esparian Inquisition

DATE OF BIRTH:
→ June 28, 1977

...........................................................................

HEIGHT:

WEIGHT:
→ 65.771 kg (145 pounds)

Spoiler:

DESCRIPTION:
Helena has a smile that can light up a room. Along with her soft tone, he turns out to be a very sociable and personable woman. Her dark skin is within the standard range for Esparians, though her copper eyes are more of an oddity, among even her own people. Her hair is naturally a dark brown, though she’s taken to dyeing it since she was a teenager, and is currently purple.

Her shape is what could be called “motherly,” which would make sense, considering she has two children. Her clothes, when she’s not working, are often loose and comfortable for the conditions in Esparia, such as dresses and sandals. She does like to dress up for the occasion, however, and has several outfits of varying degrees of formality.

Her ears are pierced, and she usually wears earrings of different styles whenever possible. One her left ring finger are two rings: a gold band and a diamond ring, both imported, and part of her husband’s proposal process, knowing that it was “big in other countries.” Finally, on her neck is a simple gold chain, with a recreation of an old religious symbol on it.

On Inquisition business, however, she takes on an entirely different aura.

As Valentín el Árbitro, most of her face is covered by a half balaclava, usually crimson red but sometimes different to better suit the terrain she’s going into. Her hair is pulled back, often hidden by the hood of the cloak she wears. The cloak itself is dark gray with red trim, but, again, there are many ones identical to it, besides the camouflage pattern on it.

Her clothing is also varied, though usually black with crimson red mixed in, and designed to hide her feminine figure. Though the ruse is not perfect, it is effective when she’s far enough away, or moving around.

PERSONALITY:

Helena is actually a very warm and inviting person. She was very social since she was young, loving to get into conversations with others. She’s the helpful kind, willing to lend a hand, looking out for others as much as she looks out for herself. She shares strong bonds with those close to her, especially her husband and two children.

When she speaks, it’s always with a warm, welcoming tone. She often uses her hands to “talk” as well, complimenting what she says with a certain degree of rhyme and reason, but often lacking any actual meaning behind them. It is a trait she’s always had, though her father had a tendency to do such as well. Though she thinks that’s why she’s as expressive as she is with her hands, she also notes that she does things differently than her late father.

Helena is religious to a degree, a firm believer in the values that religions of old stood for, but not necessarily the messages that their believers preached. However, she disregards how she takes some texts, creating a sort of hybridization of religions, and puts her own spin on them while preaching, especially when it comes to alchemy.

The belief she holds regarding alchemy, however, grows more intense while under her Valentín el Árbitro persona. Cold thoughts and actions, an almost unseen hatred in her, bubbles to the surface, overtaking her naturally warm personality. Though she acts out of what she believes is best for the world, she does not consider anything she is doing as wrong. She feels as though she is helping halt a growing evil, a growing power that the world is giving more and more freedom with. To her, the power to create and destroy as alchemists do is heretical. As such, she acts ruthlessly against alchemists and alkahestrists, militant and not, viewing herself and her cause as God’s will, something for the greater good, believing that committing unspeakable atrocities is alright in the name of God.

LOVE:
→ Hunting, playing with her children, catching up on old times, box socials, torturing and killing alchemists and alkahestrists, secrecy

HATE:
→ Alchemy, Alkahestry, Homonculi, sinners, chocolate stains

DEEPEST SECRET:
→ Is actually Valentín el Árbitro

HISTORY:

So, do you wish to know about me, Valentín el Árbitro? You want to know what made me into the “man” I have become? Very well, so be it. I will honor it as a last request. It’s not like you’ll be telling anyone, anyway.

My name, by the way, really isn’t Valentín el Árbitro, or even just Valentín – but that’s something I’ll get to later. I am really Helena Castilla, eldest of what is currently the oldest generation, thereby head of the Castilla family, as well as mother of two beautiful children. My life was not easy, mind you, even being the daughter of a plantation owner. I got up with all the other workers, and did my fair share. My father, may he rest in peace, made sure to teach me life’s lessons early, and he did so properly. One does not have riches and opportunity fall into your lap, but, rather, one works for it.

And by god, have I worked for everything I’ve earned.

You might ask where my mother was in all this. I assure you, I have no revenge story to tell, no quest to right the wrongs of the world that caused her to die. It simply happened one day, not too long after the birth of my youngest sibling. I can barely remember her, her face little more than bits and pieces of half-remembered dreams. I’ve long since accepted the fact that I cannot remember what she looked like, or how she treated her children. But I still honor her when I pray every night.

Anyway, I learned much more than how to collect crops and use various tools properly. I was taught the art of the hunt, I read, I listened, I wrote, and, most importantly, I taught others. I learned enough so that when I joined the local militia, I took command of a small number of troops. I’ll admit, not all that impressive, considering I control an entire branch of government now, but still, you don’t know the things we did. “Normal” people would not have done what we did, but I’m afraid Esparians aren’t normal people. What we did was in the defense of our home, something that any soldier would’ve done. Not that you would know, of course.

Now, like I said, I read a lot when I was young. I loved religious texts, as I felt as though I could relate to the points they were making. Work hard and you shall be rewarded, be kind and people will be kind back. This… This is the kind of thing that makes sense to a person like myself. But you know what didn’t make sense? This… This “alchemy” the other countries seem to be so fond of.

I am no simpleton. I may not understand how alchemy works, but I do not think of it as a dark, mysterious magic. Instead, I view it as a tool touted for the good of the people, and used for violence and destruction. It is something that creates something from nothing, allowing someone to make a living off of no effort at all. And that sickens me. It is used to fuel the fires of war, and, in a heartbeat, it becomes a weapon. The users seem to not care at all, feeling content with having the power over the life and death of tens, hundreds, even thousands of their foes. Such power is reserved for God, and such detachment from reality is dangerous. They are nothing but human devils.

And if a force of evil exists, then there must be a force of good to oppose it.

Now, my father, he died when I was twenty. Cancer, I’m afraid. I found myself taking over the plantation, but even between me and my younger siblings, it was proving difficult. None of us were very business-savvy. We did everything we could to keep it afloat.

And that, my friend, is when I ran into Jorge. He was… He was a savior to me and my family. He helped get the plantation running properly again. And, a couple years later, we were married. Since then, we’ve had two beautiful children, one boy and one girl. We’ve been happily married since, for all eleven years, and as you can tell, I’d like to keep that going.

Anyway, I suddenly had more free time, since Jorge was managing the business, and my siblings were either working themselves or sought formal education abroad. Needless to say, I had a lot of free time on my hands, which lead to a lot of thought. What was I to do? How could I use my skills to better the community? And then it hit me.

I’ll admit, I’m not masked mercenary, nor a caped crusader of any kind. I have no tragic backstory as to how I became involved in the Inquisition. I was contacted, and I agreed. Simple as that. But, the rise of Valentín el Árbitro is slightly more complex.

I couldn’t be myself, that much I knew from my first day as an Inquisitor. The Inquisition has a shadow around it, cloaking what happens within with an air of mystery. But the individuals weren’t as protected. They went out of the shadows, into the light of the public eye, and acted. It was no secret I was an Inquisitor, but I had to keep it one that I became the Grand Master.

And thus, Valentín el Árbitro was born. A ruthless, giant of a man, intelligent beyond most human’s comprehension. He ruled the organization with an iron fist, and, often times, took on targets himself. See, when you have a faceless organization, people are prepared for anything. But once you put a face on it… Then people prepare for that. By revealing a false head, I was able to work more freely.

I have been operating under the guise of Valentín el Árbitro for five years now. I’ve worked on all the islands that now consist of Esparia, as well as overseas, where I am even more of a mystery. I have sown my seeds of secrecy, hoping to reap the crop of fear and paranoia, and it has finally come to fruition. As Grand Master Inquisitor Valentín el Árbitro, I have vowed to protect this land from the likes of you alchemists. And in the end, I hope that God will forgive me for the acts I have done in His name.

...........................................................................

TRIVIA:
→ Hates alchemists and alkahestrists with a passion, as they are sinners in her eyes, and homunculi are just as bad. Chimera are a different story, as they might have been forced to taint their human form, and as such, is much more forgiving and empathetic to them, though still wary.
→ Based on the “over-zealous Paladin” character type I’ve run into. Also known as “Paladin gone too far,” and “Lawful Stupid.”
→ Fluent in Esparian; speaks with a pleasant Esparian accent in Amestrian and Xingese

Whoops!

Fixed a stupid mistake where the "Personality" title was under her personality description. Still uber tired, so if there are any other stupid mistakes I missed, feel free to point them out.
