NAME:
→ Berserker

TYPE:
→ A mechanized suit, originally developed for the failed Drachman space program.

FORM:
→ A mechanized suit.

...........................................................................

BRIEFING:
Not many people know of it, but Carraig wasn’t the first country to consider going into space. Many years ago, Drachma attempted, and failed, at such an attempt. The farthest they got was launching a monkey into space, in order to test out an environmental suit. It could withstand the cold of space, support life for weeks, used a revolutionary method of controlling it, and was resistant to radiation and electro-magnetic forces of space. And it worked spectacularly.

At least until the monkey started freaking out.

As it turned out, the suit survived not only re-entry into Earth’s atmosphere, but survived the impact as well. The monkey, though, was dead, but analysis of what could be barely be referred to as “wreckage” concluded that, during its freak-out, the monkey had damaged the life support system, and suffocated before the eventual re-entry. Besides some broken bones – and a major case of death – the monkey was otherwise fine.

The Drachman space program was closed shortly afterwards, as it was little more than a lot of money getting pumped into something that was going nowhere. The suit was consequently put in storage, and forgot about for several years. At least, until the little girl with the neural jack was brought under the government’s care.

The suit was dragged out of storage and reworked, upgraded, and improved. In short, it was weaponized. Many would refer to it as a walking tank, but the project leader referred to it as something else. “It is a walking monstrosity,” he said, “capable of wrecking everything in its path. In the hands of a soldier, it would crush walls and throw cars. In the hands of a child, the world would be nothing but a plaything. In the hands of this little girl? It’d go berserk.”

PICTURE:
Spoiler:

Standing well over eight feet tall, this metal monstrosity embodies many Drachman philosophies: “simplicity is complexity,” “heavy is durable,” and “by god, we’ve got to go overboard on this,” just to name a few.

Its feet are large with four “toes,” leading up to thick, mechanical legs, which connects to the body. The body can loosely be referred to as “egg-shaped,” though a more accurate description would likely be much more wordy than necessary. Aligned in the center, towards the top, is a small, but rather thick window, allowing the user to view outside of it, although it is apparently a very limited view. Sprouting the “shoulders” are two thick arms, ending in giant, four-fingered hands. The forearms appear rather thick, almost comically so, as they appear to house a host of mechanical devices..

The suit itself is painted a dark red, with gold trim to further enhance the Drachman elegance of the beast.

The inside has been reformatted to allow a larger pilot to fit inside it, though the resulting amount of space is still cramped. One particular note of interest would be the lack of any conventional controls, but rather a strange plug that goes roughly around the pilot’s neck or shoulders.

SPECIAL ABILITIES:

Use of Equipment:
Berseker is at a strange point of development. Although most of it is the same gear that was used to help it with space-related missions, parts of it have been taken out or added, and retrofitted in some cases. Since Berserker is currently in its “field-testing” stage, we thought it’d be best for Kuvalda member Zinaida Tarasov to know what the suit is capable of. As such, any and all uses of note are listed below, and more will be added as Berserker is further modified.
> Life support system (able to keep a child-sized pilot alive for a few days)
> Vacuum sealed (for freshness! Also, good for deep space/underwater) (Side note: not tested for underwater operations, though it is theoretically possible)
> Designed to withstand the cold of space
> Designed to resist, ignore, or otherwise counter-act high radiation and electro-magnetic forces
> Several magnetic grappling hooks in both forearms, plus locations around the body (in order to prevent user from drifting off in space)
> Magnetic hands and feet (originally designed to allow it to stick to a space shuttle/station, as well as more easily grasp metal tools)
> Neural jack, Male (input/output)
> Several standard/piercing grappling hooks in both forearms (piercing grappling hooks are Stage 1 modification)
> Armor plating (akin to a heavy tank; Stage 1 modification)
> Cameras around the body; capable of standard vision, thermal vision, electro-magnetic vision, and sonar. (Sonar is a Stage 1 modification)

Mechanic's Note: It would be wise to point out that such a suit was not designed to be used on a planet, let alone be combat-effective. Its heavy armor and weight are to be used to protect itself during battle as much as from getting from one point to another. Therefore, it relies heavily on its varieties of grappling hooks to move and maneuver, or potentially drag the target to itself. Otherwise, it will have to start the slow process of building up speed, which doesn't amount to anything spectacular. Even then, it'd be clumsy at maneuvering at those speeds without the aid of the grappling hooks to help it.

Berserker's Stage 1 modifications are complete, and has been turned in for inspection. Treat him gently.

Side note 1: I plan on improving and altering Berserker every level (hence "Stage 1"), since it is as much a part of Zina as she is to it.

Side note 2: I'm aware listing the equipment is neither offensive nor defensive, and whether it counts as a special ability or not is questionable. However, such is what I was advised to do, and, as you can see, I have done so.

I'm ready to approve this, however, I don't see a weakness and, as you know, that is extremely important in order to prevent an unbeatable tank if you will.

I've added in a "mechanic's note." In summary, it explains that the suit wasn't built for maneuvering around under the influence of gravity, and, as such, has sluggish maneuvering and moves slowly without the help of its grappling hooks, or sufficient space to gain speed. Up until it reaches that speed, it'd be easy to outrun it on foot. Even at top speed, I imagine it would pose a danger to slow and winded targets. Even then, changing direction would prove to be a problem.

I hope this proves to be sufficient.
