A New Companion
"I'm so boooored!"
The small pirate captain was lounging on the deck, staring at the grey sky. He was starting to miss the blue alternative. There really weren't any birds, either. With a sigh, he took a moment to consider that this place seemed more welcoming than anywhere else, anyway. Not to mention he was close to Xan this way, which was the main reason he moved the crew into this old ship. Xanthus... the one person that he sincerely thought of as family, and the one person who seemed to understand him fairly well. That wasn't just because they were both homunculi, either.
In all honesty, Sal had changed since becoming Gluttony. He slowly felt a dislike for humans surfacing, the ones he was amiable with excluded. It was a little frightening, but it also came naturally, as if he was meant to harbor this dislike. Maybe it was from his past experiences, being lied to and treated like a guinea pig in some twisted science experiment. Sal hissed at the thought as he mouthed the name of the man responsible for turning him into a cat-like monster: Gilles. Where that man was now, he couldn't say, but maybe it was for the best that he didn't have a way to contact him. Just then, his ears twitched. He could hear someone approaching. No, more than one person, and he could smell... He could smell Sec, but the other smell was different, akin to some sort of animal, but he couldn't quite place it. The homonculus turned to face the direction of the approaching duo.

Re: A New Companion
Rolego was finally back in his normal shape. Actually better shape. he had traveled with Sec for days now and for some reason in that time frame Rolego had fattened up as well as regained more than his usual body muscle structure. He could go on without food for days now. Also, he now had a better chance on surviving on his own. But he chose to stay with Sec for his own reasons. Sec was the only one who kept his promise for so long, as well as Rolego's only friend. Rolego got fairly attached. He did not know if it was because of his new blood and instinct, but it did not matter to him at all anymore. He could trust him.
Rolego however was running out of patience. He had not seen a single sight or smell of the place and the wait was driving him up the wall. He wanted out of the bloody desert. He was actually feeling very stupid for going to the ruins in the middle of the desert. The worst place for him to be at as well as anyone else. He guesses he was just extremely lucky the Sec came by when he did. But soon the sounds of water reached his ears....which made him feel alot better. He at least knew he was getting out of there soon. He looked up a Sec with a grin on his face showing his appreciation for tagging along. He did know what was to come...but he was going to take it as it came.

Re: A New Companion
Sec and Rolego walked for days through the fiery hot Xerxian ruins, through the desert and all the way to North City. By the time they managed to get out of the desert at all, Sec was out of food. That was in itself amazing, because he carried Gluttony's Snackpack! He had to restock at a grocery store on the outskirts of North. But the pair had finally reached their destination. Sec grinned down at Rolego as he walked. He had noticed that the Chimera was no longer the scrawny malnourished thing he'd found in the middle of Xerxes. He was actual resembling a strongly built creature now, and he needed less and less food to keep moving.
At one point during the long trek, they passed a man on the streets of Amestris. He looked at Rolego and laughed. "Hey, what is that stupid freak dog anyways? It looks-" Sec glared daggers at him and stopped to stare him down. "Looks like what? Definitely not what you will look like if you repeat yourself. Now try that again, if you would. I dare you." The man looked at Sec in sheer terror. It wasn't every day that a gargantuan man in a business suit just blatantly threatened you. He took one last look and ran off. Sec looked at him leave and grinned at Rolego, amused by the stupid man's fear.
Finally, they reached the Pirate's ship. Sec smiled and turned to Rolego. "Here we are. The Pirate's Ship.A lovely little place, homey, but a bit torn up. We still need to repair it, mind you." With a grin, he walked on until he saw Sal. He gave a half salute and grinned. "Captain! Sal, this is Rolego. He'll be staying with us, for a while anyways, if he chooses. Rolego, this is Sal, Captain of the Pirates. He's one of the friends I told you about. He'll keep you safe."

Re: A New Companion
The footsteps slowly drew closer before the figures appeared before him. As he expected, there was his First Mate, Secundinasci, with some dog-like creature. There was something strange about the dog, but Sal couldn't pinpoint what, exactly. With an inquisitive frown on his face, Sal walked over to the dog - whose name seemed to be Rolego (unless Sec made that up entirely) - and placed a hand on his head, but then removed that hand just as quickly. His red eyed examined Rolego more closely, noting that this strange appearance was likely not something that had occurred naturally. No words were necessary. It reminded him of himself, in a way, but it seemed that Rolego was worse off. Deciding to go without asking a lot of the questions he had, Sal walked into the ship, beckoning for them - or at least Rolego - to follow. Since Sec had addressed Ro in Ishvallan, Sal figured that's what he understood. Good thing, too because it was a lot easier for him to speak Ishvallan.
"So, are you going to have your own room, or what? I mean, there are a lot of room on the ship, so you can pick one out for yourself, if you want..." The one thing that was clear was that Rolego needed a place to stay, and the pirate ship was the perfect place. It was surprising that Sec had actually picked him up, though, which made Sal let out a small chuckle. After all, Sec wasn't known for being the most sympathetic person on the planet. In fact, it seemed the only person the latter seemed to like at all was Sal, funnily enough. Sal began to turn to the interior of the ship and walked toward the area where they had the most cleaned out rooms. If Rolego wanted his own room, they could always clean it up, and if he wanted to room with Sec, that would take less cleaning, but it all depended on how Rolego felt. Either way, Sal was determined to make life easier for this new companion.
"Oh yeah, like Sec just said, as long as you're here, you won't have to worry. We'll take good care of you, friend. If you ever need anything, don't be afraid to ask, yeah?" Sal didn't mind Rolego staying with them. In fact, he felt that it was probably for the best.

Re: A New Companion
Rolego looked around the docks, as well as the people looking at him. Yes, he was a strange sight to see, but he did not like the unwanted attention. It made his spine crawl for some reason. When ever he is around large crowds of people he is like this, cause knows where ever he goes he was being looked at. By everyone that walked by. But after the event that Sec had with that stranger, he did feel some of his caution Drain. But then he began to look around...and saw this kid.
Rolego actually looked in aw for a moment. He could not believe what he was seeing. Another one like he was freely walking around here? But as he looked at the child he heard Sec calling him captain....Captain? He is Sec's Captain?! Rolego looked at the boy as he came and and patted Rolego's head...but only quickly. He pulled his hand back as soon as he touched Rolego. But also Rolego's could see that the boys eyes were studying him...Rolego doing the same...but only for a moment. Feline part and smells...it was not agreeing with Rolego's mind. But, he could look past it...for now.
So, are you going to have your own room, or what? I mean, there are a lot of room on the ship, so you can pick one out for yourself, if you want...
Rolego watched and followed as Sal (who he believed Sec called him) into the ship. Apparently there was alot of things needed to be done. There were a few rooms just full of junk, planks of wood, and lots of other broken and seemingly unimportant items and belongings. But then Rolego noticed the number of rooms in the ship. Alot more than he though there were. Having his own room would be great now...seeing that there were so many rooms to chose from. But he did not know if the rooms her liked were either chosen by someone else or was an empty room. Being with Sec in the same room would not be bad...but it was also quite odd. He did have a mind of a human after all.
Oh yeah, like Sec just said, as long as you're here, you won't have to worry. We'll take good care of you, friend. If you ever need anything, don't be afraid to ask, yeah?
Rolego looked at Sal understandably. Rolego wanted the most out of the way room of the ship. He knew that the crew probably was used to seeing a chimera...but Sal had it alot easier. He also could walk upright and not fear speaking in public. Rolego being who he is now...he beginning to speak would be different. As well as...or could be a shock to those who listens. He was feeling uncomfortable just by being in the ship just touring. So he quickly walked past Sal with his tail low...trying to find the very back door...that is where he wanted to stay.

Re: A New Companion
Sec watched as Rolego and Sal met each other, and the former was given the grand tour of the place. He walked casually as possible along with the two, letting Sal do the talking. He figured it would be easier on Rolego to have Sal explain things here to him, so he could get better acquainted with him, and Sal; the same. But toward the middle of the tour, Rolewgo wandered off, a little downtrodden by the looks of it. Sec followed him slowly, almost as if he were a ghost, stalking him. "Hey, Rolego, what's the matter? You don't look like you want to be here. What's wrong?" Sec looked a bit concerned, which on the Sec-Human translator scale could have been like a man pacing the meternal ward in anxiety. But for him, he just frowned slightly. He assumed Rolego was just a bit nervous and scared of having to be around new people, which was very understandable. Sec just hoped he would stay in the ship, and start to feel better about it...

Re: A New Companion
It seemed that Rolego wasn't very enthusiastic about being here, and began to walk off toward the end of the ship, most likely trying to go to the very last room possible. That wouldn't do. Sal could understand why the other chimera was so hesitant about being around people, because being fully animal in appearance was much different from being like Sal, who only exhibited his animal traits through his ears and tail. He couldn't promise that everyone would embrace Ro, he knew that everyone in the Pirate crew had their share of quirks, and that they were more accepting than most. Even so, if they did have a problem with this new resident, then they'd have problems with the captain. Sal was very amiable with most individuals who were different, such as chimeras, and didn't see the problem. Then again, he was a chimera himself, and on top of that, he was Gluttony.
His red eyes scanned Sec as the latter followed Ro. Sal followed suit, but got a little closer to the dog chimera. Even though his feline instincts dictated that a dog was a threat, Sal knew that Rolego wasn't a hostile creature. Walking beside the nervous chimera, Sal gently spoke.
"Rolego... I know you'd rather hide from as many people as you can, but you should know that there aren't a lot of people in the crew yet, and they all have something that they'd rather hide from everyone else. We're all misfits, but we can't let that stop us!" As he said that, he put a fist into the air and the other hand onto his chest. It was true, after all. They were all outcasts in one way or another.

Re: A New Companion
Rolego simply retreated to the back. Where the darkness could take him from the light and conceal him from the ones who could see him. He did like the fact that he did have a home. But he did not know where to go from here. He was thinking he was in another hole in the wall. Like before when Sec found him before he brought him here. He was grateful...fully grateful....but he did not know how to take this new environmental. He had already been insulted...and for some reason he did not think his battered soul would take another. He could now only stand to be near Sec...and maybe Sal. Yes his dog instincts did not like the feline. But the canine in him knew respect...and bit back its own instincts. He did not find a door in the very back....but it was dark and he could see everything in front of him. His pelt concealing him from those who looked back at him.
So he laid down right there. At the very back. Alone....but oddly comfortable....but then he saw Sal come forward. His eye as red as blood. But there was a sense of pure kindess...and sat up to Sal as he came near. He was now his captain.

Rolego listened with his ear erect but his body did relax....alot. It made him feel good that he was not an only outcast anymore. He could smile a little at that...he could have...but he did not. He did not want to show any kind of vulnerability. His mind was all about the things around him. He before Sec found him, was cautious about everything. Moved at night...attacked when being attacked...hunted like an animal...everything about him changed the moment he found out who he was...knowing he cannot change back...and see what he lost. But...for some odd reason....he found what he had lost many months ago.
Peace of mind....

Re: A New Companion
Sec stood watching as Sal gave a great motivational mini speech to Rolego. It was all true, completely, and Sec could only just imagine why Rolego didn't seem to believe it entirely. He nodded encouragingly. "Yes Rolego, Sal's right. All of us here have something about us that bonds us, that makes us stand out from the norm, but together, stand tall. Look at Sal. He's an Ishvallan cat chimera, yet he runs the whole crew. And me, I'm a 7 foot tall psychopath, but that never stopped me from being in the crew, and showing people up. And you're a chimera on the run from who knows what. But you have a place now, somewhere for you to be appreciated. So come on, get out of the corner, and be proud. So what you don't look human anymore? You're human inside, and frankly, that's better than half the scum that exist on this Earth, so you should be proud of who you are." Sec smiled at Rolego, having backed Sal's speech with his own. If neither of them could convince Rolego, it might well be a lost cause. But he knew that it would work, somehow. And when it did, Rolego could accept the Pirates, as they accepted him.
