DEscriptION:
→ Xanthus, whose Ishvallan blood runs strong in his veins, has the Ishvallan crimson eyes and white hair of his ancestors on his fathers' side. Arguably, his eyes have become darker in color ever since he became Pride, shifting from a pure 'red' to a darker crimson. His hair is somewhat long and mostly unkempt, typically resting atop his head and flowing down to his shoulders and on occasion in front of his eyes. His toned body can best be described as just that: toned and athletic, a perfect example of human physique at his prime. This is because he trains everyday in various martial arts, and various weapon styles. Xan's skin is milk chocolate brown, like his Ishvallan father, though it would be darker still without the Amestrian influence of his mother. Two permanent scars shaped as jagged lines dance across Xanthus' torso and intersect in the middle of his chest, forming a large letter X that is clearly visible when his shirt is off.
While there once existed the criss-crossing lines of an alchemist's transmutation array and an alkahestrist's alkahestry array upon his body, those formerly significant markings have mysteriously been erased utterly from Xanthus' body and made to appear to have never existed in the first place. Instead, there is now an Ouroborous tattoo decorating his torso, marking him to anyone who knows of the symbol as either a Homunculus or someone who knows of the Homunculi when his torso is exposed to plain view. If given an inquiry about the mark, Xanthus merely responds that it exists on his torso because his true mark is hidden from plain view.
As far as clothing would be concerned, Xanthsu Icarus is one to dress for the occasion; on typical days, when nothing is to be expected that would call for more formal clothing, Xanthus usually wears a long black leather jacket over a form-fitting white shirt, pure black jeans that are perfectly fitted to his form and held onto his waist area by a black belt, black gloves, black socks and shined black leather boots. On occasion a black button-up shirt might cover the white shirt.
A silver Ouroborous medallion dances atop Xanthus' torso, held there by a silver chain that stays around his neck at all times. In his pocket, Xanthus typically carries his State Alchemist pocket-watch, although the only meaning that it has left is purely symbolic, as his certification has in fact expired. He merely keeps it around because he does not want to return something that he worked so hard to obtain to people whom would not give it the proper care it deserved. Or at least that what the Ishvallan will keep telling himself anyway. For formal occasions, Xanthus will typically dress in dark suits, wearing them open and typically revealing white, gray, or black shirts depending upon the season wherein the event is taking place, the event itself, and several other factors. Typically for formal events Xanthus will wear one or two silver rings as well as a watch of the same color as well as a trinket to adorn whichever arm the watch itself is not occupying.

PERSONALITY:
→ Xanthus Icarus is beyond all shadows of doubt a man of thought; he enjoys thoughts and he enjoys thinking those thoughts. He also typically enjoys sharing those thoughts with others, particularly when he feels that he can somehow gain something from the sharing. An intelligent individual by virtually all standards, human or otherwise, Xanthus carries himself as and considers himself to be a 'learned' person, having vast stores of knowledge and information and knowing very well how to use both to his advantage. He enjoys reading, considering it to be one of his chief pastimes, as well as the instrument by which to sharpen his mind. 'I have multiple weapons, among them being my shadows and my swords. However, my most powerful weapon is my mind. And, just like any blade or any skill, the mind needs honing and sharpening. Books satisfy that need and so I read. Simple as that.'
Two of Pride's greatest strengths are also three of his greatest weaknesses if one knows how to cleverly exploit them in such a way that Xanthus has no idea that the exploitation is occurring. In no particular order, Xanthus' self-proclaimed greatest strengths are his curiosity, his ambition, and his Pride. In particular, Xanthus values his Pride, saying quite frequently: 'Without me, Pride is but a mere shadow of itself, but without Pride, I am less even than the shadow of myself.' The Arrogant One is cunning, clever, intelligent and almost never goes into a situation without a plan, even one driven purely by impulse will suffice so long as there appears to be victory on the opposite side. He seems to enjoy manipulation to some degree, frequently and purposely incorporating it into his plans in various ways and against various peoples; sometimes going so far as to be what others might refer to as 'ruthless.' However, there is something of a human side left to Xanthus, and he typically does recognize when manipulation has gone a step to far.
Having himself been on both ends of multiple hierarchies, Xanthus Icarus prides himself on not treating separate people differently based upon their ranks or accolades, but on their personality and the amount of respect shown to him at any particular meeting, meaning that it frankly does not matter at all to him if one person is a General or if they are the lowest ranking member of their military; both will be treated with respect until they have proven themselves unworthy of receiving the same.
Ever since Xanthus Icarus became Pride and relinquished his former alias of Infinity Alchemist, his personality has changed significantly. He has become perfectly attuned to his Sin, embodying the concept of Pride. He is noticeably prideful in his own abilities as well as his own immortality and limited invulnerability, addressing most situations with an air of calmed coolness, even those situations that could be considered critical or life-threatening. Strangely, even though he himself keeps a cool head in typical situations, he enjoys observing the passions of others, to the point where he will place himself upon the front lines of a battlefield, simply to observe the fury with which the opponents fight.

HISTORY:
→ Xan was born from the union of an Ishvallan man and an Amestrian woman, something seen rarely, if at all. Particularly considering that he was born in the 1800s, the fact that Xanthus’s parents fell in love and had child is incredible. However even that fact paled in comparison to the ‘incredible’ things that Xanthus would accomplish. He was five years old when he started reading books about Alchemy. By the age of nine, his parents noticed that he was a genius in the subject, having done his first successful transmutation at age six. The reason that he had become so proficient so fast was because of the fact that he was always reading some form of alchemy book. If he didn’t understand a word, he would go find someone who did. His IQ was beyond imagining for someone his age though, so there were only a few words he didn’t understand. As he got older, his IQ increased, as did his alchemic knowledge.
Xan eventually decided to 'focus' on one alchemy style, and began to search for one that he considered to be 'worthy' and not well known. That would mean that it would be difficult to learn, and in his mind, that would make it more fun. He searched for a few weeks without finding one, then decided to simply make one that gathered elements from various other disciplines that he had found. He started by making his own brand of transmutation circle, then began to train in his new art.....’Lost Art’ Alchemy. The name ‘Lost Art’ was something of a misnomer; the style comprised of several advanced styles of alchemy and some principles of alkahestry blended together into something that gave the young man abilities that would be akin to the later legendary Scar. His abilities would not be used for the purpose of hunting alchemists however, they would be used for purposes altogether more morally enigmatic.
His favored alchemy style was the one that he created himself, as the greatest show of his talent. Hailed as a prodigy, the boy didn't stop there. He began to research the art of war, and trained himself nearly every day. Mind and body were both pushed to their absolute limits, until Xan believed himself strong enough to conquer any problem that he came across, whether it was a question of the mind, or of the body. Over time he mastered several martial arts styles, and made himself proficient with most common weapons, sword and gun included. Finally, when he turned the right age, Xan told his family his goal in life....
To join the military in the hopes of making his mark on the world. A good mark, one that he would be remembered for. He knew that it would be difficult; he would be an Ishvallan living in an Amestrian’s world. His red eyes would set him apart from the very beginning, and he would have more to prove to more people in order to earn what he was due. However nothing would deter him, and he said ‘To hell with the prejudices of others! I’m going to use my alchemy to do what needs to be done…and I’ll do it standing tall and proud, because that’s just who I am.” Leaving home with that thought in mind, he went to Central City to join the Military....
Xanthus was in his early teens when he joined the Amestris military, but due to his incredible intellect and high maturity level he managed to pass himself off as being somewhat older. As a precautionary measure, he was always careful to wear sunglasses or goggles with dark tint whenever he would be around his fellow soldiers. He also kept his social interactions to a minimum, marking himself as something of a silent genius, as well as a loner. These were two reputations that he would live up to without fail for some years, spending most of his free time either with a small group of people or alone at a library. He quickly grew fond of studying about Amestris; about its history, about its government, and about its military. It became quickly known that if one wanted to know something, then Icarus was the first name that one should call. Even the young boy’s superiors came to pay him visits on occasion, to meet this gifted young militant alchemist who was swiftly becoming an encyclopedia concerning Amestrian affairs. Despite the attention that he received for his encyclopedic knowledge however, Xanthus remained a detached presence towards virtually all people. Then came the day that he would meet the boy who would pull the almost cliché change of his life forever moment, and would do so in such a way that would even to this day cause Xanthus to chuckle in amazement.
At this point in time, Xanthus was seventeen years of age, and was safely tucked away in Central; far from the bedlam occurring in the East. He had grown accustomed to life in the military, and had even grown slightly relaxed…almost carelessly so in fact. After a particularly long day, Xanthus had made his way into an empty showering room and had begun to take care of business. He had locked the door behind him to prevent others from barging in, and had at this point removed his famous tinted eyewear. His red eyes gorged themselves on freedom for a small amount of time, and Xanthus grew even more relaxed in those moments than ever before. In fact, he was still relaxed by the time that he had finished, and neglected to even don his tinted eyegear. This would prove to be the cause of a near heart-attack when someone forced open the door to the locked room; this someone proved to be a young boy with deep blue eyes. In the part of Xanthus’s mind that was not in minor shock, he briefly registered that he had heard of this child…the newest prodigy to enter the Amestrian military. In the few silent moments that passed between them, several thoughts flashed themselves before Xanthus’s eyes, the most powerful of which was the fact that his secret had been so strikingly and irreversibly discovered. He could practically see the word ‘Ishvallan’ pass through the boy’s mind…
”Glad to see one made it out alive.”
Those words were said with a smile that caused a relief in Xanthus’s heart that no one could ever know. In his own relaxing post-shock demi-euphoria he muttered the words: ”That makes two of us.”
Those two sentences would be the beginning of something unimaginably wondrous for Xanthus; he would make a true friend in Aurelius, whom he would see as a kindred spirit and something of a little brother. For three years they would be nigh inseparable, two geniuses whose talents knew no boundaries save for those that they imposed upon themselves. An unknown fact is that Xanthus himself actually helped Aurel with his research into creating black holes, the ability that he would be so well known for in the future. However even with their combined knowledge, Aurelius was not able to actually spawn a black hole; he was a chimera, and chimera simply could not perform alchemy. Being unable or unwilling to use the notes himself and with Aurelius having slipped into a depression over his inability to perform alchemy, Xanthus found himself giving his life a goal. He would aid Aurelius in his dream of performing transmutation, and he would do so as swiftly as possible. To this end, the boy ‘volunteered’ to be an intern of the infamous Dr. Marcoh; the man possessed the knowledge and the resources to create a philosopher’s stone, and Xanthus was positive that if he could acquire a Stone of sufficient power, Aurel would be able to use it to perform alchemy.
Refusing to accept any other notion, Xanthus poured himself into his ‘apprenticeship’ to Marcoh; it was around this time that Xanthus would take upon himself the unofficial name of Infinity Alchemist, given to him by Dr. Marcoh himself as a recognition of the talent that could have made him a State Alchemist had he ever desired that station. Months would pass however, before Xanthus would finally see Aurelius again…the boy seemed to have slipped further than ever into depression. This of course made Xanthus feel all the more triumphant when he presented the fruits of his labors to his closest friend. He knew that the presentation of this little red present would be irresistible to the boy, and so was unsurprised when the child devoured the Stone with the enthusiasm of a starving man eating bread. It was in this method that the first Bearer was born and a black hole created.
Time would fly swiftly after this point for Icarus. His life in the military only accelerated during the events of FullMetal Alchemist. After Marcoh’s disappearance, he became something of a source of Philosopher’s Stone knowledge, and though he would not become a State Alchemist in his own time, he would gain more respect than the vast majority of them.
He was often referred to by his still ‘unofficial title,’ and was even let in on several secrets that most members of the military were not entrusted with. This is how he came to learn about the Elric Brothers, how he came to know about Father and the Homunculi, and how he came to know about many things besides. Simply put, he became more extremely valuable to the military because of the knowledge that he gained, and used that value to gain more knowledge until finally he knew virtually every secret that Amestris contained. The majority of these things were shared with his young friend Aurel of course. Knowing about all of these secrets meant that he knew about the “promised day” as well of course, and when that day finally arrived the Ishvallan made extremely sure that he had a powerful philosopher’s stone with him. This would prove to be fortunate; as the souls of everyone around him were leaving their bodies, Xanthus utilized the Stone in conjunction with his Lost Arts to preserve his soul; in this fashion he was able to watch from the gardened top of Central as the end of the world came upon Amestris in the form of the homunculus Father.
Ironically Aurel did not see him, though in fairness Xanthus truly was too enraptured with the scene unfolding before him to notice Aurelius either until the latter did something unexpected; he stood up to Father. This action more than any other would seal Xanthus’s undying respect and loyalty towards the man whom had once been but a young chimera boy. Ever the vigilant watcher, Xanthus would act as an audience for the entire showdown against Father, leaving the fight to Edward Elric, another young boy who impressed the Ishvallan more than most people could claim by far. After the battle was concluded however, he saw Aurel do something rather unexpected, something that at the time seemed almost…
He performed a transmutation that allowed him to follow Father into the zone of Truth itself, a being that Xanthus knew only through his research into the Philosopher’s Stone. The next time that Xanthus would see Aurel however, he would get the answers to questions he never asked. He was contacted via comm device and told to meet a Gen. Aurelius Carston at the East Wing. The fact that Aurel had pronounced himself a General meant that the matter was more serious than even life or death, which meant that Xanthus himself literally sprinted to reach the boy, where he met with an Aurel that seemed almost…shaken.
“Xan,” he had said the moment the Ishvallan had arrived. “The balance would have been broken.” Aurelius’ eyes had been serious, his voice having taken on an edged tone not frequent in his speech. “I had to…I had to send the homunculus into the future.” He had paused and stared hard at Xanthus. “In a world without sin, there is nothing. Just as there is no peace without war. We have to make sure he survives; without that balance the wor—no, chaos will descend. The fabric of our everyday desires will be ripped to shreds—cast to the wind having ceased blowing. Without that balance, Xanthus…”
”What do we do?” Xanthus had asked him without hesitation.
“…Bring our own chaos.”
From that point, it took mere minutes for Xanthus to prepare himself to leave everything behind and travel to the future. His loyalty to Aurelius and his undying respect for him made it so that on the basis of but a few words, he was ready to throw himself through time and space. He knew what he would be sacrificing, but when Aurel gave the word, he prepared himself unflinchingly and without hesitation. As he stepped into the darkest void in creation, Aurel told him that they would meet again in October 100 years later…and just like that, the Ishvallan left behind the world that he knew and landed in Central City in April of 2010. Little did he know that the time stream would cause something to essentially crack inside of his mind; his memories would disappear the moment he landed, and his personality itself would become fractured and not truly settle permanently again until nearly two years passed. Thus began the journey that leads into Xanthus’s ‘present day’ adventures.
-Just after time travel- So far in Xan's story, he has met many fascinating people and been to a few interesting places. His plans have advanced along slowly, but not unexpectedly or unnecessarily so. Being the generous kind of guy, Xan helped out two men whom he saw starving on the street fighting. After introductions by Xan, and his new friends to be Riffel and Tsune, the Ishvalan treated all three of them to lunch, which was rather...funny. He ordered literally everything on the menu and the three ate like never before. The three alchemists played with their alchemy while eating and having a good time. In another event, Xan met the chimerae Adokenai Darke and Zane Valentine. He instantly became curious about both of them, but in a natural way, not in a 'oh look, a chimera, let me study it' kind of way. He actually looks forward to becoming friends with at least one of them; the boy, Ado. On a personal mission, Xan has seemingly allied himself with a group of insurgents rumored to be led by a rebel alchemist. Upon request by Brigadier General Reila Tsukino, Xan has recently been promoted and assigned to Briggs to be her right hand man. Now, his although his fate is shrouded in mystery, at least he has gained friends and obtained power to help him along the way.
-2010- Sometime after his promotion and subsequent transfer to Briggs, Xanthus was involved in a battle that had taken place between his new home and a new rebel group named RIOTE. Briggs won the encounter, and remained standing while RIOTE's forces retreated into the snowy peaks of the Briggs Mountain Range. Afterwards, Xan went to Central to take his State Alchemist Exam, feeling that he was finally ready for said test. He passed, and became known as the Infinity Alchemist (an irony considering that he had held that title for some years unofficially 100 years ago). Sometime after his acceptance into the State Alchemist's ranks, Xan was approached by RIOTE's leader, the infamous Zero Alchemist, and was asked to accept a position as third in command of the Rebel organization. The Ishvallan accepted, not because he truly wanted to see Amestris or its government fall, but because he believed that RIOTE might someday attack Briggs again, and he wanted to be able to either stop that attack from happening, warn Briggs, or take RIOTE down from the inside. However, there were two more reasons. Secretly, Xan saw this as an opportunity to gain more knowledge and power, in ways that only he and perhaps a few others could hope to understand. Lastly he simply felt that it was destiny. He becomes Leviathan of the Rioyokai, the third Leader of RIOTE, and for a few months, keeps up the facade. Ultimately however, his true identity is discovered when Zaska, now acting as Berith, Leader of RIOTE, leads a force of one hundred troops to South City where the people have all vanished and the military was looking into the mystery. Zaska was killed by Dai when he attempted to kill Reila, and the Military opened fire on the now broken and fleeing RIOTE troops. During a moment of indecision about his next move, Xanthus was contacted by Aurelius with instructions on how to deal with the situation. Even after having not heard his voice for years, Xanthus's memories concerning his best friend flooded into him, and he obeyed Aurel's instructions without hesitation again. Xan created a wall to protect the troops from the military's bullets and gave them enough time to 'escape' whilest he allowed himself to be captured by the enemy, albeit after threatening to kill any who dared to even point a gun in his general direction. While in jail, Xanthus met Scion Grey, who informed him of a secret team of elite militants who answered only to the Fuhrer and went by the codenames Famine, War, Plague, and Death. The Ishvallan accepted Scion's invitation to join this group and became Famine. Xanthus saw this as the opportunity he needed to get close enough to Father to truly have a shot at destroying him before he tried to end Amestris. Again. To this end he found himself heading to Briggs to gather them into an effective force against Father. However, when he arrived, he arrived to find that Briggs was under threat of yet another attack from Rebels. Only this time, the Rebels were involved in a joint attack with Drachma. Using his alchemy to great effect and buying the aid of Teimo, a Xingese boy who had great skills with a blowdart, Xan aided in the defense of Briggs, and sometime after the battle (which Briggs won), got himself invited to dinner by Reila. It would be from this dinner that Xanthus would draw his most powerful allies against Father.
Xanthus had attempted to bring together an army to wage war against Father...and he had succeeded. Father had fallen at the hands of the Briggs Brigade, as had been planned in advance, and the Ishvalan had been satisfied for the moment, having found an old new leader in the process; Aurelius, or rather an Aurelius-Shadow that was created when the true Aurel sent his consciousness into April 2012 with Father's Power. Later, Aurelius (Shadow) Schwartz had received word that a mysterious figure whose name was unknown was to make an attempt to create a Philosopher's Stone made from the citizens of West City. This being against many of his own plans and strategies, he had dispatched a unit (including his ally Xanthus Icarus) to stop the attempt and kill the stranger so that his efforts could not be repeated later. Xanthus immediately set out on his orders and succeeded in killing the strange man, but ran himself into the middle of the alchemic circle. In the creation of an imperfect Philosopher's Stone, Xan became a homunculus. Though the Aurel-Shadow would never truly know it, Xanthus himself had manipulated him into arranging the entire thing; the idea had been his, on the orders of the true Aurelius. His goal had been to make Xan an immortal ally. Now, Xanthus has been joined for eternity to the Homunculus Pride, their union being a strange new one unseen before by man or Homunculus...
-2011- Many months passed after Father was defeated and Xan was turned into a Human-Homunculus hybrid by the plans of Aurelius. After the battle, the Four Horsemen separated, leaving Xan once more without a purpose. Returning to Briggs on impulse for a final test of fate, Xanthus was for once in his life totally and utterly shocked speechless upon his reception; an enormous banquet fit for a King or returning war hero. It was during this welcoming home party that he was offered his former position (2nd in Command of Briggs) back by Reila and Daigoro, which he accepted with obvious happiness, stating multiple times that it was 'good to be home.' During his final days in Central before the transfer to Briggs, the Homunculus met and later befriended a small child named Sal, who was a cat-human hybrid. Over time, he and Sal would meet several more times in various situations, the most important of which resulted in him 'adopting' the child as his little brother. Sal would eventually (and directly because of Xan) become the Homunculus known as Gluttony, thus Xan would feel doubly responsible for his little brother; he feels that he must keep him safe because of his humanity and he also feels responsible for keeping Sal's gluttonous nature from corrupting him too much.
Also within this amount of time the Annual Festival occurred, an event which caused the death of the Prime Minister of Creta, the injury of a relative of Reila, the injury and subsequent memory loss suffered by Reila Tsukino (who was made to forget her love of Daigoro Ito), and finally the event also caused the forced 'defection' of the aforementioned forgotten lover for reasons pertaining to his love of Reila. Before Daigoro left Amestris, he entrusted two very special objects to Xan, a letter to Murazar Dauthi explaining the situation behind his apparent betrayal and a steel box for Reila herself, the contents of which are predictable but unknown specifically as of yet. And speaking of unknown as of yet...
War is on the horizon; it's inevitability has forced the hand of Xanthus Icarus. An attack from Creta was deemed to be imminent; why else would Ito have been recruited in the manner that he was? Aside from that, one does not become trained as a spy then not maintain a network of his own...Colonel Icarus began preparations for the upcoming battle, requesting that he be allowed command of Amestris' western border defenses, as well as requesting the authority to command the defense of Amestris when Creta attacked from the West, as was to happen soon. Being granted these temporary powers, Colonel Icarus immediately began making preparations. When Creta attacked, Amestris would be ready...he would be ready.
Excerpt from Journal of Xanthus Icarus
-Just after the bombing of Amestris-
'Hmm...my 'little brother' accomplished his tasks rather well and with an attention to detail that even I must recognize as being rather impressive. The detonations crippled Amestris, just as it was projected and predicted that they would, leaving the people broken, the military shaken, and the message quite clear: war was on the horizon. Do I feel some reservation that so many civilians were killed, perhaps unnecessarily? Perhaps, but I would never admit to such a thing...I am Pride the Arrogant and an agent of RIOTE; such 'feelings' would merely get in the way.
Although, I suppose that the point is to be made that I do not serve the leader of RIOTE, but merely follow him and do as he requests out of respect for his ambitions, which are beyond any mortal man that believe I have come across with few exceptions. If any man should think otherwise, I might have to remind him that I am Pride the Arrogant, an eternal being who will likely be alive whenever any empire Aurel creates becomes an empire, and even when it crumbles around itself. But I think I'll end this entry here, as I have begun to digress again...'
-Unknown time but before the battle of Moscow-
'A very meaningful confrontation looms overhead for Amestris. Victory here would in fact cripple RIOTE in some significant way and render Drachma quite useless as a tool of Aurel or Vanity. Naturally I do not expect the battle to go well for my home country; doubtless Aurel and Vanity have in fact arrived at these same conclusions and are even now making the necessary arrangements. Hmm...I am afraid that I cannot join in the upcoming confrontation; there would be too much risk of exposure one way or the other. I must admit that it is rather intriguing that I am functioning in the capacity that I am. On the one hand I am an agent of RIOTE, as has been mentioned before. However, I am also a member of Briggs, and regardless of my position in RIOTE, I do not believe that I would be able to bring myself to watch them suffer. Hmm...I wish that there was something I could do, but I am afraid that the only thing that I can do for them is to not be there.
-After the Battle of Xing-
The time has apparently come for me to say my goodbyes to Amestris, but more importantly the time has come for me to say my goodbyes to Briggs. Aurelius has summoned me to Drachma with a new task in mind for me. Though I must admit, I wonder whose intriguing mind came up with the idea to have me become a part of RIOTE again...particularly using the name Chronos, the Keeper of Time. Ah well, it does not particularly matter either way. Fortunately for me, I took the liberty of preparing myself for such an event before I returned to Briggs. All of my properties and belongings that were not somehow emotionally or symbolically important to me have been sold off and all of my funds have been transferred to a private fund that the Black Company keeps for its members. In this way, when I do in fact leave Amestris (and likely become declared an international criminal or something of the sort) I will not have to leave behind any form of resources. I would insert something similar to a cliche monologue here about how the world will kneel before Chronos of RIOTE, but it would be rather out of place. I am Pride the Arrogant and Chronos of RIOTE, such things are considered to be beneath me now. Vanity can have the accursed spotlight to herself; it suits her and she looks lovely in it. I however will remain content to remain in the background for a time; after all, Aurel and I have some catching up to do that will require much free time. Beyond that, my every waking moment will be spent acting upon the will of the aforementioned RIOTE leader. Why? Because out of everyone I have ever met, Aurelius has so far proven to be the only leader I can trust my undivided loyalty to.

TRIVIA:
→ Xanthus Icarus was born in 1889, and traveled to the year 2010 from the year 1910 as a result of Aurelius's alchemic prowess. This makes him one of three beings to travel through time, and one of only two to do so willingly. This also makes him technically 123 years old as of April 15, 2012, a fact that he alludes to on occasion and sometimes outright jokes over with a slightly cryptic tone.
→ Aurelius Carston Schwartz is Xanthus Icarus's best friend, and is one of the people whom Xanthus thinks about whenever someone mentions the word 'brother.' Notable others being Murazar Dauthi, Sal the Pirate King, and Daigoro Ito.
→Because he technically produced the Stone that Aurelius would devour to become a Bearer, Xanthus is the 'creator' of the first Bearer, and the origin of the Bearer project.
