Taisetsuna Omoide
The sweet scent of the pine trees carried across the mountain breeze that swept over the quiet little town of Takayama that summer evening, the cicadas sung their vibrant song that carried throughout the woods as the sun began to sink slowly towards the horizon, casting a beautiful array of colors across the sky.
Raistlin Ambros sat quietly under the towering pine tree, sitting upon a hill that overlooked the serene little town from afar, his blood red eyes stared softly at the mountains in the distance, his raven black hair whipped playfully at his face as the wind caressed it. This day had been like any other for the six year old, he awoke at dawn to escape his house before anyone awoke, removing himself from the presence of the glaring townsfolk, who judged him for his ominous outer appearance. There in the haven of the forest, Raistlin roamed the wilderness looking for objects of interest and berries to eat, reading his favorite book that described the wonders of alchemy, a book given to him a few weeks ago by a traveler. Raistlin could barely read, being mostly self-taught and just starting school, so his progress through the thick text was slow albeit enjoyable.
And now here Raistlin sat, watching the setting sun, his book tucked snugly under his arm, at complete bliss and turmoil in his solitude. He closed his eyes as the gentle warmth of the sun on his face began to fade.

Re: Taisetsuna Omoide
"Sorry I'm late!" A little girl's cheery voice wafted through the warm breeze as she bent down to the sleeping boy, hands on her dirty knees. "I just managed to escape after dinner. They didn't let me go after lunch because I had Amestrian lessons...mehh!" She stuck out her tongue in a childish scowl and flopped down in the grass next to him, taking in the strong scent of pine. "Hey so," she nudged him in the ribs, "what're we gunna do today?? We should play war where you're the evil Xingese attacking and I," she placed an arm proudly against her flat chest, "I will be the empress of Aerugo fighting to save my citizens!" Harumi grinned sheepishly and rose to her feet, grabbing a think stick off the ground and swinging it around wildly. "I will prevail wahaha!!! What say you, Rai!? How will you fight back?!" A swoosh of long black hair tied in two pig tails followed with her strikes as she effortlessly ran around in circles like a famous warrior. Equally black eyes raised to focus on the boy in a look of sheer fondness. She and her parents were the only ones that seemed to talk to him. It was his eyes that everyone hated. They stood out... and anything that stood out from their homogeneous society was to be ridiculed. Harumi didn't even notice; all she conceptualized was that they were the same color as the setting sun and she loved sunsets.

Re: Taisetsuna Omoide
Raistlin immediately brightened up when the vigorous little girl arrived, his crimson eyes opened and shined as a faint smile graced his lips. It was the first time he had smiled all day.
Raistlin smiled at her obvious distaste in her lessons and replied "I guess its a good thing I already know it" in perfect Amestrian. He had no idea what it was like, to have your parents pay so much attention, trying to teach you all these sorts of things that they claimed you needed to know. Raistlin hadn't learned anything through direct parenting since his mother had passed away a year ago from illness. She was a beautiful Amestrian woman with long blonde hair, kind blue eyes and a very warm smile. When his father ignored him and his older half brother teased him, his mom was always their to comfort him. After she passed away, only Harumi and her family treated Raistlin like a person, not a freak.
"I'm the evil Xingese?" Raistlin questioned in an complacent tone. He would be happy being the most horrible and unlikable monster you could possibly imagine, as long as he could play with Harumi. "Okay!" he huffed as he jumped to his feet, leaving his book propped up against the trunk of the pine. He picked up a small tree branch that lied at the base of the tree he had been sitting at, and gripped it firmly in both his hands. He smirked as he stared Harumi down. "Here comes the invading Xingese soldiers, here to take over our homes and force us to be their slaves!" He lifted the 'rifle' in his hand to line up with his shoulder and took careful aim at the Aeruguese Empress. "We have the Empress in our sights! If we beat her we will have all of Aerugo!" Raistlin exclaimed to his fellow soldiers, all of them surrounding their target. The birds chirped cheerfully as they fluttered over the heads of the innocent children at play.
