The Battle of the Jade

From half-way across the city, in a bell-tower, a single green iris flickered behind a scope. Dropping his shoulder, the figure, garbed entirely in black, face streaked with camouflaged war-paint, rested the SVD Dragunov's rifle butt against his shoulder, eye pressed just a few millimetres from the PSO-1 optical scope slid into place on the rail of the rifle. As his comrade readied an exact mirror-copy of the rifle in everything save for serial number, the radio clipped to the sniper's shoulder crackled with distortion heralding an incoming transmission.

"Eagle Eye, this is Tartarus. Perses, Gaia, and I are in position. Repeat, we are in position. Eagle Eye, do you have a visual on your targets?"

With a smirk, 'Eagle Eye' tilted his head as his other half for the mission finally slammed in the rifle's magazine. Raising a black-gloved hand to hold down a black button marked 'INPUT' in block capitals with officious, plain white text, Eagle Eye spoke, in fluent, perfect Drachman, as his commandant had. "Roger that, Tartarus. We are in position and have a visual."

The Battle of the Jade

"Roger that, Tartarus. We are in position and have a visual." A slender, blonde figure stood at the head of a twenty-man squadron of RIOTE troops. Black-garbed and each cradling either a suppressed AK-105 rifle, a similarly-kitted PP-19 Bizon sub-machine gun, or a PKM general-purpose squad machine gun, they stood, also outfitted with their own war paint. Each had brought to the table a flak jacket and a side-arm, as well as a few grenades.

Across the city, three more of these squadrons and six Aerugese platoons had been biding their time for around half an hour in assimilated Xingese military warehouses, or abandoned complexes. This mission's preparation had begun months ago, sleeper agents, commandeered technology and armour... everything was in place. And an hour ago, the blonde figure at the front of the group had gotten the call: "Balthazar... do it."

This was one Rou Alexei Kamarov, though none here knew him by that moniker. He was Balthazar, or he was Tartarus. Whilst he bore no inclination towards a code-name given to him as if he were just another regular soldier, it was fitting enough; the personification of death, the deepest and dankest part of the underworld... it... worked.

Whilst Aurelius and Vanity themselves were otherwise occupied warring on different fronts, Balthazar had been given the alliance of Empress Yuuko Kagura, alongside his comrade Hei, and that disgusting Ogihci Masu. Blech. Well, at least they had to find some use for the dog, aye? And if he was to be cannon fodder for the Imperial Guardsmen of the palace, then all the better.

Slung at his back was the Nine Circles in grenade launcher form, and in his hand, laying idly at his side, a Cretan-issue M60E4 machine gun. Balthazar let a chuckle escape, and raised the gun's grip into his other hand, pointing it at the ground as he turned around and screamed in Drachman. "You hear that, boys!?" A grin carved his face in two as his pale grey irises twinkled with madness. "Here's where the FUN starts!"

As the twenty men raised their rifles into the air and roared in unison, RIOTE's fury embodied, Balthazar cackled and moved back to the radio clipped to the flak jacket he wore beneath a black suit jacket and over a white shirt - no tie. He didn't need any restricting gear. He wore matching slacks and combat boots; certainly not the most orthodox of commanders. "Gaia. Perses. It's time to move. Perses, call in the Aerugese troops; Gaia, you're moving up front with me." He released his finger, letting the transmitter crackle for a moment as the troops behind him lapsed back into silence. A grin on his face. That bastard Ogihci wasn't missing a moment of the action.

"Eagle Eye... take the shot." Two silenced thwunk noises resonated through the night, followed by dull thuds as the bodies of two Imperial guardsmen dropped to the floor. Exiting through a raised door at the edge of the warehouse, Balthazar filed out first, with the twenty men behind him; on an identical street on the other side of the city, Gaia and his platoon would do the same.

Moving up to the palace proper in a matter of moments, at the very head of the action, Balthazar grinned and screamed. "AERIES, YOU LITTLE BASTARD!" Raising the M60, Balthazar unleashed the first shots of the night, the weapon greedily tugging the belt of bullets into the chamber as its owner fired off a few rounds into the sky. "IT'S TIME TO COME OUT AND PLAAAAY~!" Balthazar roared in a sing-song chant as he and the troops sprinted immediately to the first set of gates; those that lead into the Palace's courtyard. Across the city, similar events would be happening, the storming of other buildings, or the targeting of other Xingese militants. But most of the attention was focused here: at the monarchy.

It was a two-pronged attack. As they and some of the Aerugese forces struck mainly here, a number of other Aerugese battalions would make other insertions around the city. It would be utter chaos. The city would be theirs, come rain or sun, come victory or loss. It didn't matter. Balthazar would have Xing and call the country his own. And he'd execute that little prick Aeries himself. He'd have him snivelling, crawling on his hands and knees - or what was left of them - before finally, he riddled the little fuck with bullets until his skin burst from the sheer amount of hot lead pumped into it. The bastard would know pain before this was done.

In an instant, the courtyard flooded with guardsmen, and the battle broke out proper. Those bullshit conventions had been all but disregarded; there were no envoys save for the rounds Balthazar had fired himself. As the little fuckers spilt out en masse, from outside the gate, stepping over the dead bodies of the first two guardsmen that Eagle Eye had taken care of, all hell broke loose; the chatter of automatic rifle fire became natural in moments, with only Balthazar's M60 to break the regularity, launching round upon round towards guardsmen themselves. They wouldn't break into the courtyard, yet.

After all... there was still so much fun to be had.

MISSION: World War III: Peace and the Pestilence of RIOTE {3} Empty RULES

Post by Reila Tsukino Sun Apr 29, 2012 3:25 pm

RULES:

  • The typical stuff applies. In every post, note where you are, and which PC's your post pertains to. 'Throne Room - Balthazar, Ogihci, Hei, Ace', etc.
  • There'll be an initial posting order as dictated below, which then will become relative, meaning obviously you're not going to post five times before the person your fighting can retaliate. Use your brain.
  • You must exit the thread before the end or your character will die.
  • Adhere to the beginning posting order - that means don't post out of turn. Do this, you'll lose 5 points, piss me off, and have to delete and rewrite your post appropriately. You've been warned.

START ORDER:

All of these people - it's imperative you post in this order if you're specified by name.

  • Hei (keep in mind you have a twenty-man platoon)
  • Ogihci (keep in mind you have a twenty-man platoon)
  • Any other RIOTE militants in this battle
  • Yuuko
  • Raistlin
  • Any other Aerugese militants
  • Ace
  • Ururi
  • Any other Xingese militants

If you're not specified by name, you can post at any time within your 'group'; so, say that after Ururi posts, the first time around, Leon, then Karen, then Xiao post. The second time that Ururi posts, the order doesn't then have to be exactly 'Leon, Karen, Xiao...' - take the initiative and post if it's your turn.

MISSION: World War III: Peace and the Pestilence of RIOTE {3} Empty Outside of Xi'an -> Outside of the Jade Palace {Balthazar, Ogihci, RIOTE NPCs, Xingese Militants}

Post by Guest Thu May 03, 2012 3:26 pm

City limits of Xi'an, Xing
April XX, 2012

A single truck makes its way towards the mishmashed city. One that stands in the face of industrialization, taking on more modern looks ... but at the expense or even halted by the traditional and decayed structures of antiquity. No one bothers with this vehicle, one of many that makes its way about certain sectors of Xi'an. No one questions the presence since, while not a ubiquitous thing, it was common enough to merit disinterest.

Unfortunately, the cargo was anything but the usual produce or goods.

"BLKT-Zero One One, reporting. Platoon D-2 successfully entered Xi'an. Will rendezvous at two one zero zero hours. Secondary objectives will be achieved prior to contact." is the message that goes out to his comrades. The message is in Drachman, as usual, but given the nature of communication, it wouldn't have mattered what language he used. Either way, it was time to for the offensive. Time for them to deal with Xing.

...

But where does his loyalties lie? No one knows. No one knows anything. Many claim to know, but the only one who knows for certain is himself. And his self tells him that everything has to burn down into ashes, so it clearly couldn't be trusted. Thus, he had not a clue what he was supposed to do. But he did do something, so did that mean he did things without thinking them through or did he think them through and simply decide to do them? Times like these really hurt his brain, especially since he was stuck on some medication.

Aeries. Aeries should know already. He should know this was coming. He had warned him that an offensive was a very real possibility himself, he told Stu- ... Stev- ... PO ... to warn him that it was coming and soon. He even took a moment to send one last reminder of warning before being whisked away to the actual mission. But, whether or not those messages got through was unknown. Nothing was certain, anything could go wrong.

Anything could go wrong for anyone.

...

What were his orders again? 'Take Xing or destroy it if it will not obey.'

Yessssssssss, he was supposed to destroy Xing. Destroy. Xing does not submit to enemies, no sovereign state will. So, why bother trying to force an unyielding foe into submission? Better to wipe them off the face of the planet, no? What was the IV drip doing in his arm? He did not know. He knew nothing.

Where did his loyalties lay? No one ever knew. No one has ever known anything. Many claimed to know, but the only one who knew for certain was himself. And his self told him that everything had to burn down into ashes, so it clearly could be trusted.

Where would his loyalties lie? No one would ever know. No one can ever know. Many will claim to know, but the only one who knew for certain was himself. And his self told him that everything must be burned into ashes, so it clearly couldn't be trusted.

Where did his loyalties lie? Where does his loyalties lie? Where would his loyalt-

He was giggling. Yes. Giggling. The twenty men were unnerved at what was happening, considering he was now getting an infusion of some chemical. For relaxation purposes, he claimed. In all honesty, if he were to act with a clear mind his behaviors would compromise the mission. So, the option was to put his mind in a questionable state of consciousness. With something that he had no idea about, that he had no clue of what it would do to him, and was just given to him out of the blue with orders to use it. To whom was he loyal? It should all be clear, he serves that which interests him. And what interests him now is the devastation of Xing.

Yes, blood and guts, fire and rubble. Chaos and panic. Sheer and utter devastation. How long has it been? Six months? Yes, he had rejected these pleasures from six months ago. He had tried to stay clean! HONEST! He didn't want this! Or did he? What did he want? What did he?

A snarl emerges from the Xingman's throat, as his right hand scrapes against the side of the transport. Claws were emerged from the chimeric limb, scraping against the metal. He was supposed to relax, wasn't he? Why was he getting frustrated? Was it the sight of his arm, a mark of shame and humiliation from that blonde sniper of Amestris? Was it the thought of Xing, which had longed to crush? Was it RIOTE? He does not know as he leans against the side, now, still digging in with his hands but trying his best to remain upright.

The time. What was the time? ... 21:30. He had spent eighteen minutes addled. What was going on? Eighteen minutes.

The radio is chattering with some buzz. He didn't care. Or did he? Wait, orders. Yes. No, he had already taken care of those. He knew that something was going to happen, so he took measures against it, right? Or not? The radio is asking for him, and one of his subordinates is trying to get his attention. He ignores him, forcing him to reply that they are in position but he is not available. He is never available. The dark skies are beautiful. The palace is beautiful. Ah, that's right, he hates the palace. Thus it is horrendous, a blight upon the land. He hated it. The drab and colorless world, of black and grey. Why not mix shades of red and orange into it? Let the conflagration consume all! LET THEM DIE IN A

21:39

"Eagle Eye, this is Tartarus. Perses, Gaia, and I are in position. Repeat, we are in position. Eagle Eye, do you have a visual on your targets?"

"Roger that, Tartarus. We are in position and have a visual."

"Gaia. Perses. It's time to move. Perses, call in the Aerugese troops; Gaia, you're moving up front with me."

Ahh yes. He had a job to do. The sweet abyss-filling water of life is stripped away from him, by his own hand. He has no need for it. It was time for war, and he had to thank it for the job it did of making his relaxation wondrous. Now he was replacing the armor upon his arms, while the rest of his body already dons the metallic protection. Gauntlets are replaced, bracers are added back, and soon all are bound together to comfortably remain attached to his being.

"Eagle Eye... take the shot."

That was the call. That was the point in which this all began. As the team ahead makes their way into the Jade Palace, he and his own had other business to do. Yes. Other business.

"I do not take orders from you Balthazar. I shall do my part when I choose and how I please." comes a soft-spoken voice. One of weakness, it seems, as compared to the usual vigorous Hei. What was wrong with him? He did not know. That seemed to be the common answer, didn't it? He did not know?

Ah, yes. The Aerugese troops. They should have remembered that the code words to begin the operation was in Cretan, no? Yes, Cretan. Just two words that meant that everything was a go, and all hell must break loose.

"Red Sun. Repeat, RED. SUN."

And now the cat is out of the bag, and so where they. His team emerges from their vehicle, their hiding spot, and he steps out with them, now donning his helmet. At his side rests the wicked blade of Brightkiller, while the SMGs are also strapped on his person and his extra ammo kept upon one belt. They know their orders. Split into fireteams of four. Four teams head off to their respective targets. The last team stays with him. If need be, he'd need their help to find the damn truck in case he had to change weapons. The rare chance to actually bring his whole arsenal to the battle, but alas he can't bring it with him on his person.

As far as he knows, the Palace has multiple gates leading within. So, the armored Xingman just approaches a entrance opposite of Balthazar's dynamic entry. Really, wooden doors? Antiques were nice, but provided little defense. A knock. Or rather a punch and the door rattles. Another impact, and the doors creak off their hinges. What guards that are still alive notice this ... disturbance, despite Balthazar and Masu's sudden offensive. Unfortunately for the closest two, they were crushed by flying giant boards of wood that WAS the door blocking the Xingman's path. And lo and behold, the Xingman has joined the battle.

Unsteadily ... wobbling. Weak, even? Who knows. No one knows. No one ever knows. Not even himself, which demands that all the heathens be purged by a 'purification of brilliance and conflagration.'

A snow white haired man stands in the dark of the pale moonlight. His hair reacting marvelously to the light hitting it, capturing a sheen that it was not accustomed to. But, as magnificent as it was he found himself in a rather dark mood. Today was the day they would attack it seemed. Worst of all that rather unfriendly fellow, Balthazar, would be leading the mission. Its not so much he hated the man, after all he couldn't bring himself to hate people in most cases, as he had found his behavior with Nyx's kindness something of a oddity. How could one treat kindness with harsh words and violence? He just didn't understand it and it had left him with a bad first impression of the man.

The other of their comrades that was joining was Perses, Ogihci had actually never met the man and this certainly wasn't one of the best places to exchange pleasantries. That was a bit of a sad thought in his eyes. If the man did wind up dead or even he himself, he wouldn't be able to meet him in either case. Oh well, he would need to hope for he best it seemed. Look forward to their meeting and not worry if they would die. Simply... keep the hope it would seem. But, this was not the only worry on his mind, he would be leading a team of 20 squad members into battle. Why would they give someone with no military experience that responsibility? This... he didn't understand.

But, like having Balthazar as their leader for this it was simply another order he would follow from Aurel, His friend and ally. Last but certainly not least was the other person his mind. Probably the one person who was the closest to being his daughter to him... Lucrezia. She lived here in Xing, hopefully she wasn't anywhere near here... however it had been a while since they had talked last... oh how he hoped she was safe... Ogihci glanced over at the men he now lead. Some of them were young, others old. All, followed the ideals of RIOTE, or at least that is what he assumed. For all he knew they might have been spies but, he did not judge people on simple looks.

Some seemed to shake with anticipation at there first battle, some however were calm. This was mostly the veterans that knew if they let themselves be distracted by excitement they would surely die. Ogihci simply stood there numb from the thought that he would have to actually end lives today. In normal circumstances he would be the one to stop this from happening. But, he was under orders from Aurel, orders he could not just deny, at least without good reason. But was the deaths of multiple people reason enough? Only Ogihci would know for sure.

"Gaia. Perses. It's time to move. Perses, call in the Aerugese troops; Gaia, you're moving up front with me."

Suddenly the awkward silence broke at the sound of the radio, the men glancing over to him expectantly. Was it really time already? It was his worst fear it seemed, the beginning of a war which he would help ensue. "Gaia enroute," He said begrudgingly, that bastard put him on the front lines on purpose. That much he could tell. If he truly wanted to be useful in this fight he would need to regress to an older version of himself. But, he had made very sure he would never do it again. He couldn't, because he didn't want to. He looked to his men unsure how much he could inspire them. "Well men, let's get things started!" He said followed by his men cheering.

He was disappointed in their reaction. Could they really bring themselves to harm people just so that they could rid the world of alchemy? Though... there was probably many of them who didn't need a reason to kill at all. Sadly... there were people like that it would seem. Ogihci could already hear the bullets flying in the distance. So this was war... he didn't like the taste of it personally and didn't understand why people found it fascinating. But alas, Ogihci began to lead his squad on foot. It would take them some time to reach there destination but when they did... things were gonna become a true... living... hell.

MISSION: World War III: Peace and the Pestilence of RIOTE {3} Empty Aerugese militants; Raistlin; Shizuka

Somewehere in the city - Transmission tower administration office
Xi'an, Xing
April XX, 2012
21:12:00

Careful preparation, now it would show how much of it was careful enough. Not that the deadly aerugese warriors weren't used to sensible manners, but their business was usually more single-person efforts and not coordinated large-scale attacks against whole groups of people – or in this case technically a whole military wing. Regardless, armed with iron will and steel weaponry, many aerugese militants were set to go. The true soldiers were just inside the city borders, mostly perched in transporters and ready to charge, while the precise strike teams – consisting only of the same special agents that usually were ordered to 'take care' of special individuals already had made full way into the heart of the city, up to the palace entry doors. In hiding or under cloak they waited for the go. The go that would tell them to invade the palace from this third side, in conjunction with some other troops, send by other organisations with other intents – but their paths were roughly identical.

As head command of what was commonly referred to as the Ninjas, Yuuko would have loved to lead the forces participating in the initial assault on the palace – the second in command; also her sister; took that honourable spot, but in her more important role of supreme empire commander, she was too valuable to do this. Regardless, her talent would not go unused today. She and a handful of the mentioned elite forces would see to blinding, gagging and addling the prey. The moment they got the signal from their allies, important buildings around the city would be stormed – unexpectedly. Literally cut the lines, get rid of the pesky communications, be it phones, radio or anything. Also some power, where it was reasonable and not completely harmful to their own men.

"Red Sun. Repeat, RED. SUN." the speaker of the radio squeaked. So, in this moment, storming of the palace had begun. The sooner it was made hard for the enemies to coordinate, the better. With a pointing gesture of the hand, the Empress had confirmed the signaling to her teammates and the charge began. The sentries on guard duty outside the building had long gone over the styx at this point, and after the door of the rather inconspicuous structure were kicked in, everything that breathes and didn't wear aerugese garbs was shot down with precise fire from about a dozen silenced guns. If the surgical strike against the transmission tower control office was a success, that would raise this whole missions' chances of success by a lot, to say the least. If city radio was brought down, there was no way for the xingese to bring in reinforcements in any reasonable amount of time.

The vista of finally having a crack shot of conquering one of their nemeses motivated Yuuko as a person and the empress to full performance and diligence. This all was a grand game of chess and she would be taking out pawns, knights, bishops, rooks as well as the royals and possibly steal the whole board afterwards. Blitzing this part operation was important to obtaining the board, so she didn't waste a single moment and kept leading her group into the building, riddling more xingese pawns with holes as they invaded up the different stairs. “Hopefully, your end of the line goes as well as ours, my dear sister.” is all she thought, since she had transferred the attack on the actual palace to Shizuka and didn't really wish to see the operation fail or her killed either. Close friend general Raistlin Ambros was out there too, playing his role in the scheme, but she had long ago learned not to worry about him - he took care of himself wether one hoped for him to be ok or not. Some of his men would reach the hopefully breached by then palace of xing in a couple of minutes and represent the first batch of aerugese military reinforcements meant to take over the palace. But enough of the distracting emotion-wishy-washy, it would cost too much valuable attention and concentration.

[OOC: Ross contacted me and after communication of PMs and a confirmation. Raistlin Ambros is to be outposted. So yes, this post is reserved for me. Of course, if the admins want to extend a period of time for him then please tell me. And, I am a total war player, it means that the coming post is going to be somehow lengthy describing the Aerugese preparations of war ultimately to tactics used within battle. So, I am using the power of the Shisu-ken for information gathering which they are excellent at plus their deadly other abilities and my character as well. So if admins have any objections, then it would be the time to say.

This spot is reserved for my post which is actually ready however I am requiring permission to:

1-Give orders to Tas Akiyama. Please PM me with confirmation. Confirmed.
2-Give orders to Akiha Akihiro. Please PM me with confirmation. Confirmed.

Waiting for your replies. Thank you very much.
Please both of you check your PM boxes of the characters, you are using here.]

IC:

We hail from Aerugo. Our clan, there, the Kagura rules with a fist of steel after the fall of the blessed Amaterasu bloodline, ever loyal to Aerugo and her people. Our eyes are set on the lands of Xing and sought to extend the dominion of the beauty and harmony that is our empress like a beautiful Sakura tree. The Emperor of Xing and his lackeys’ reign was fragile like a newborn child, decadent and weak. As he abolished the old traditions, the strong roots that kept Xing unified, Ace Aeries brought slow demise to his reign and to himself. For the good of all and to lead Xing to a bright and glorious future, Power must be given to the lady empress of Aerugo, Kagura Yuuko.

Our priority is to control the heart of the Xingese empire, the very seat of it's power and home to it's throne. Opposition is inevitable and resistance must be met with force, swift and underhanded. And so, we temporarily allied ourselves with the enemies of our enemy...the RIOTE.

Finaly, full-scale war will erupt between the two sides, and my dear sister bestowed on me the honor of becoming the vanguard of our ever valiant forces on the battlefield.

I am Shizuka gozen of the Kagura clan, Daughter of my father, Sister of my beloved Empress. Within the Shisu-ken, I am second in command, known as kurenai Kasumi, lady of the crimson mist. I shall see that my sister's will comes to pass and make true of her wishes.

Long live the Empress.

-Excerption of Shizuka's journal before the battle of the jade.

There once was a saying in feudal Aerugo that there was no castle well-guarded enough that a kunoichi could not enter.

Chang'an, Xing
April XX, 2012
15:00:00, local time.

It would be a lie, if it was said the preparations began months ago. On the contrary, what really did begin was non-other than war and a very well and carefully planned one it was. The grey haired royal Kunoichi had already established an underground spy network within the empire of Xing for the sole purpose of information collection and gathering. And, she was not alone, Shizuka was supported by the infinite resources of the Kagura and the infamous talents of the Shisu-ken, the very order that every man on earth would fear for they were in essence slayers of kings and their likely kin.

Inside a modest small room, within an equally modest small apartment, somewhere within Chang'an. A young Miko in the beginning of her third decade was performing a battle meditation, rite and ritual. There was this very fine incense that kept flirting with her nostrils. Dressed in her Miko Shozuko sitting Seiza in front of her a small black table with paper scroll made from washi and a pen made for a specified purpose and ultimately an small bottle of ink. Her mind was at ease remembering the honorable codes of the Dokkōdō that she in all honor embraced well.

I fear not death.. there, those words left her lips.

For death is no different to birth, they are both natural. They are one and the same. If you fear death then that is like fearing birth. The explanation of the context was ever crystal clear in her mind.

For I fear not birth. and that how she ended her words for the time being.

By that moment, Shizuka gozen -Lady Shizuka- began to amuse herself in the art of calligraphy, writing a Haiku. in one vertical line on the aforementioned scroll of paper.

Although I greet death;
I do not fear its icy grip;
My soul is at peace.

Once finished while clearly feeling the afternoon light radiance falling upon her Aerugese almost hourglass skin from a nearby window, this light felt different from that Aerugo's red sun, she felt warmth not from the fake light but from her performance of Zen. Shizuka stood up and took dignified steps to the room's hidden locker to undress and to clad her avatar and body in the armor of her ironclad that is the Kōtetsu. And soon, she felt Tenchu, the wrath of heaven on her back vowing to bring death over her enemies and Kaigen, awakening to her side which will show adversaries a very dark omen. It came all naturally while that mind of hers was thinking about what was done on the previous month.

It was after her last meeting with the figure of power that reigned over the Aerugese empire within the it's palace of kyoto. Shizuka was tasked to infiltrate the oriental country of the far east. Once and behind enemy lines, information was sought, went the process of collection and finally was gathered. Politically, there was discontent and disapproval by the xingese clans regarding a teenager ruling them, the same one known as Saeji Aeries who rebelled against the former Emperor and the old traditions. The young Emperor despite being a teenager showed great cunning, intellect and modesty. He was an opponent not to be underestimated and only with caution, should be trifled with.

In addition, technologically, Xing was underdeveloped whether in the civil forms of life or that one of military. With no technology, Xing depended on a primitive economy and sheer numbers to defend itself against invaders. Not only that, the palace was made of xerxian jade well known for keeping damage to minimum.

While facilitating the insertion of Shisu-ken agents into the Xi'an specifically. across the provinces of Xing in general to perform missions of their own. Some smuggled in a state-of-art Aerugese and drachman weapons and ammunition, others for reconnaissance of key targets structures, installations, military and law enforcement strength, communication and shifts. And finally, 'men of high purpose' meant to bring instability to the current regime by instigating angered citizenry and rival factions opposed to the teenager emperor into what can be considered as high treason. Shizuka gave high priority to her personal investigation of the underground complicated network of passages that connected strategic locations to each other and most importantly the ones leading to certain palace constructed to be a fortress of jade.

After about a long month of effort, a plan was devised accordingly. In her ironclad, she stepped back to the small room where there was a holding tray of her two blades. In front of them, she sat Seiza then performed a kneeling bow showing a great respect. After raising up her head, her golden looking-like marble eyes were set on the sakura petals attached to the end of her Konpaku's sheath remembering an oath of life made. Lastly, the Kunoichi picked up her Daishō and left them in their meant places behind her waist attached like her other weapons to her Kōtetsu and before she would leave, she drank a small bowl of Sakurayu.

Then she went out to supervise the final touches before the battle.

The battle of the jade.

"Red Sun. Repeat, RED. SUN." It was zero-hour. Shizuka replied to the cretan pass code with another one to confirm with their notorious allies. Buy a yellow turban, and get one free. Ah, Very silly, very very silly code.

Seiryū –The empress- herself was there to participate in the battle giving the Aerugese troops a huge morale boost. She made sure to knock out communication facilities responsible for wired and wireless transmission and reception like landlines and antennas plus decommissioning power generators to hurt their enemies. Sasuga, Seiryū.

However Byakko - the general of Aerugo- didn't arrive yet. So, Shizuka on highly encrypted channels gave out certain codes transferring full-command of the platoons to herself until Byakko would arrive at the scene. This is Suzaku, Hana yori dango. I repeat, Hana yori dango. she heard confirmations through her wireless.

A second passed then Shizuka announced –through the same high encrypted channel that Xingese equipment can not decrypt- another code to commence operation.

Toba-Fushimi. I repeat, Toba-Fushimi. And that's how the mission commenced. Cells outside of Xi'an would begin their own set of objects.

To cripple the xingese army and to prevent any sort of retaliations possible out of Xi’an, Oil and fuel reservoirs across all provinces were sabotaged to leave behind them storms of yellow bright fire and black smoke. Water pumping feeding the capitol stopped function by foreign intervention for a purpose that would yet be clarified.

Later, Jammers targeting mobile wireless equipment was turned on, to keep the residents living within the palace of jade from knowing what was happening outside their own perimeter. An unmanned spying plane would be flying in the skies at great height to give the Aerugese advantage of knowing there enemy positions and movement. Other cells outside were setting up certain installations hidden well within the surrounding forests which would serve ulterior motives later on.

Lastly and not the least, the Aerugese troops consisting of six platoons, their bodies and hands were covered in state-of-art armors and weapon, with equipment and gadgets that would complement their main armaments with final touches. Certainly, each platoon had the firepower of one thousand men. In guerilla warfare, they were cunning like a fox and on their foot; they were fast like a cheetah.

Quite long ago in that place there was an old man and an old woman, That day, the old man was sowing bean seeds in the mountain field. “When I sow one seed, become one thousand seeds”, Just then a raccoon came up, “when you sow one thousand seeds they become one seed”, he teased: “if you sow one seed it will completely spoil.” That is indeed an Aerugese children story known as “Kachikachiyama” Regardless this was an encrypted message written in hiragana to subject “Taka” giving him order to assemble his forces and begin his own operations.

“Very long ago, in some place there was an old man and an old woman. Every day the old man goes out to the mountain to cut firewood. One day, the old man left his lunch hanging on a tree, and chunchun a sparrow approached. "Oh, it is a delicious looking meal." The sparrow secretly dove into the lunch bag.” Another children story, that begins with an old man and woman. But again, regardless it was another set of codes sent via encrypted message to “Hebi” her instructions are simple. She would assemble her forces and complete her objectives no matter what.

As for Shizuka herself, she led two platoons combined thus forming a company. She led a unit of the ‘Ishin-shishi’ – men of high purpose, those who revere the empress and expel the barbarians- with tasks of her own. But as the Shisu-ken second in command, her strategies and tactics differs a lot from those of the military commanders. A lot about her would seem, but nothing about was certainly certain. Government officials were assassinated, residential districts of those who supported the teenager emperor burned. Xingese people, supporters of the old regime, those who respected the old traditions, those who didn’t like the idea of abolishing their old way of life and those who didn’t like the fact of a child ruling them were rallied and equipped in drachman war gear which is a long way better than their Xingese counterparts – for is no chance in hell that Shizuka will brace them in Aerugese armaments – soon would flood the streets with yellow turbans on their head –for sake of sarcasm- forcing xing into a civil war. Hotspots would be everywhere directed by grey haired royal kunoichi behind the scene though they were far from the palace of the jade, the emperor would think they were at his doorstep.

Take from Xing it’s traditions, it root’s with time shall die. Take from Xing it’s numbers, it’s leaves shall wither and fall away. However Xing shall not fall and will be kept mostly intact for the Empress of Aerugo to rule. The damage described would seem fatal but Shizuka chose her targets wisely and well for all it would stop the Xingese as nation, the ability to react and strike back until the very end of the battle.

Sadly, this is. With no doubt is Total war.

Has it already started? No, the radio would have went off. He told told her when to move, and was quite exact about it. Who knows if anybody else in this operation knew of her involvement or not. Not like the green haired woman cared too much if they knew or not. The city was quiet. It wasn't a peaceful quiet, however. It was the quiet silence before the wrath of a hurricane. Tension, if you would call it by any other name.

How much time has passed? Time was creeping by. The chimera wanted to get started. She wanted to kill. She wanted to see blood. She wanted to see Balthazar, her big brother. Everything she wanted and needed at the moment was there. She needed to get there. The woman's patience was running out. Fast.

Be prepared. Oh yeah. It never hurts to double check one's equipment, does it? She wore the same uniform as the standard soldier, only without the camouflage face paint and jacket that would normally cover her flak jacket. The standard issue flak jacket was fully exposed and over nothing but a tight fitting white shirt. She didn't like to be held back by excessive and unnecessary amounts of clothing. Her hair was tied back in a single ponytail so it wouldn't get in the way. Weapons. On each of the woman's sides were two Spectre M$ sub-machine guns, nicknamed Mania and Dementia, fully loaded and ready to go. On her back, there were three blades. The two smaller blades, nicknamed Obsession and Addiction, were crossed in an "X" formation. The third longer blade, nicknamed Vlad, was laid on top of this "x" formation. Finally, buckled to her belt, was the modified taser nicknamed Discord. Everything was perfect.

Orders. Those were memorized to the very word.

Once I give the orders to Hei and Ogihci, come and find me, and you can join in the fun too, little sis!

Right. "The fun" meant the attack. The attack meant killing. Hei and Ogihci means allies. Allies are to not be killed. Everything else is. They were simple enough. Besides, her big brother gave them to her, why would she ever disobey them? He was quite possibly the only person in the world who could keep her under control. The city was quiet. Empty. Like the calm before a storm. Tension, if you will.

Eagle Eye, this is Tartarus. Perses, Gaia, and I are in position. Repeat, we are in position. Eagle Eye, do you have a visual on your targets?

That was it. That was the signal. Or at least the start of it.

Gaia. Perses. It's time to move. Perses, call in the Aerugese troops; Gaia, you're moving up front with me.

She was already on the move. She knew where to go; the palace. The green haired woman was running at this point, trying to get to the destination as quickly as possible. It wouldn't take long, but she didn't have the luxury of a vehicle. She was dropped off in a location with a radio and told to wait for the signal, so she was on foot.

It wasn't long before the grand palace came into sight. It looked like the action had already started by the two dead Xingese soldiers that laid at the entrance of the palace. Her black combat boots stepped over the fallen bodies like they were a simple mess created by a careless person who spilled their dinner.

Something touched her leg. The disgusting, annoying, careless mess grabbed her ankle. It was a bloody and fallen Xingese soldier. Did the initial attack not kill him? "Save your breath." The female soldier spoke in perfect Drachmanian, before unsheathing her longest sword, Vlad. In an instant, the long blade was stabbed right through the dying man's brain and then pulled out again before being returned to it's sheath. She saw him, he was just up ahead. Nothing would stop her from reaching him. Big brother. Nothing.

Somehow, another part of the mess was still alive, and this time fully functioning. Who knows how he slipped past the offensive lines, not that it would matter for long. This filth was the final thing standing between them. Without thinking twice, the green haired woman pulled out the sub-machine gun known as Mania and shot the soldier. Over. And over. And over again. He dropped to the floor with a thud. There he was.

She ran to him with great excitement. Every time they were apart it seemed like an eternity. "Big brother! Or should I call you Balthazar here? You'd probably like that better, right? Anything you like better, I will do!" The Drachaman woman said, in an almost childish tone. She was beginning to ramble but was able to catch herself. "I'm sorry. What are your orders?" She didn't appear to be paying much attention to the battle whatsoever, but that was not entirely true. Every now and again while she was waiting for orders, she'd shoot at an advancing Xingese soldier with almost perfect aim. This was probably thanks to the jumping spider DNA in her, giving her enhanced vision and reflexes.

So who was this woman? It was Balthazar's self-proclaimed sister, Elvira Rozalina Kamarov, better known as Eris. She would support anything her big brother supports. And her big brother supports RIOTE. The courtyard was as good as theirs.

[[OOC: Ross gave me permission to post as the attacking side is still making their turn.]]

The battle of the jade.

Aaaaiiiiiyaaaa... Tas didn't really want to come to work today. All this war stuff, and he just... Well, he didn't like fighting. Why could Aerugo and Drachma and Xing just play a nice game of Go Fish, instead? He could fry up chicken and make ramen and everybody would be happy, right? Ah well... His empress-sama wanted him to do this, so he would, with no question. Not only this, Raistlin was here; to decline from the mission would have been not only a chink in his loyalty to the empress, but it would be a sign of weakness. Tas didn't want to show any weakness or fear in front of Raistlin.

And as such, he took it upon himself to draw from his sheaths, his tsukubo and his chokuto, in preparation for war. As he set these weapons before him, he loaded a much deadlier weapon; a 1574 Tanegashima matchlock rifle. A very traditional man, he was, even in the midst of combat. This was to be a brutal attack; there was no way around it. So while he would use the nonlethal tsukubo as often as possible, he knew his chokubo and rifle would come to much more practical use. It was unavoidable...

So he loaded his ammunition and such, prepared his rifle, turned on his radio, and awaited his orders. He was to lead an offensive strike, so he would recieve an encrypted message when it was go time, from the one called Suzaku. Pretty soon, his message was recieved and he opened his channel with her. "Taka to Suzaku. Taka to Suzaku. The eagle is taking flight. Oh, and after the eagle and the ones under his wing touch ground again, would you like to meet up for a bowl of ramen? I haven't had much in the way of meeting you, and it's always good to have friends among the military one works for. Over." Ending his side of the communications, he released his push-to-talk button, listened to whatever Suzaku said, if anything, and then gave a handsign to his men, instructing them, wordlessly to go forth and perform their task.

Oooooh, here it comes. Speaking an inward prayer of forgiveness for what he would soon have to do, Tas led his men forward, and once they found their destination... Well, you could say it was a cat sneaking up on a full mousetrap. His men exploded around the security stations located in the city, himself with a squad at the main station. As a guard rose to a window to see what was happening outside, Tas was the first to respond; against his heart's wishes, a thunderous crack rang out loud as his rifle went off, blasting a hole in the poor man's head. Tas winced momentarily, freezing slightly on the spot, honestly, truely afraid. What had he just done...? It was right then, only at that moment, in the heat of war, that it struk him; he'd just taken someone's life. A husband, a father, a son, a brother, a friend.... Gone, just like that. He nearly cried, nearly broke down and cried. He just barely heard a cry of "AKIYAMA, GET DOWN!", and couldn't even react as a heavy force shoved him to the ground as a grenade blitzed the sky and ground nearby. Standing to his feet, an older soldier dragged him harshly out of the line of fire, smacked him on the shoulder and moved away, to fight some more. "You're our commander, boy; don't get yourself killed."

He stood shakily, but shook his head. "Snap out of- No, that's not... GOSH DARN IT. I mean..." He shook his head, giving his brain a refresher. Speaking slowly, he fiddled with his rifle. "Snap out of it... It's for Raistlin-sama, and for Empress-sama... You can do this, Tas... I can do this... I CAN DO THIS!" Glancing up over the fence he'd been flung behind, he glanced around. Xingese police and Aerugese soldiers interlocked and interlaced like a big bowl of chicken noodle soup... Now to fight for the honor of his nation, he assumed...

The Battle of the Jade

It was, quite frankly, laughable. Laughable that, of all possible people to give her any form of damn orders, it was that baka buso, Shizuka. If she had it her way, she would be sitting pretty at the side of her Raistlin-sama, but he was a no-show, and that pissed her off as well. Anger was not her usual mindset, but she couldn't be bothered thinking about anything else at this point in time. Closing her eyes and sighing softly, Akiha took a quiet look at the man near to her--Tas Akiyama, was it? Another person who spent most of his time around Rai. Clucking her tongue against the roof of her mouth temporarily, Akiha turned her gaze back to the pieces of the puzzle at hand before her. She was not, as one would normally be, on the ground. Instead, she was up high, kneeling precariously on a lamp-post that would provide both a good eye for the ground, and a good way of getting quickly into the fray. However, she didn't particularly want to. In fact, all she wanted to do was leave. She didn't want to fight for these people any more. She couldn't be bothered. It didn't interest her. Instead, the girl would half-heartedly sigh in annoyance and boredom, sitting down and watching with a callously-lax motion.

Gunshots abound, Akiha finally decided that she needed to get to ground and at least try to assist. No doubt Megami was watching from some distant placement, keeping a close eye on her investment. The thought of that bothered her, but right now it would stay at the back of her mind--while this girl remained in the mindset of a kunoichi and not a child, it would stay there. She had performed her half of this job so far, though with a lacklustre mind that really didn't show much promise. Yes, she'd done her job--but she'd really only done the bare minimum. Growling quietly, the youthful Homunculus finally decided to push herself off of the post and fall forwards towards the ground. She would fall gracefully, air blowing up and past her as she carefully dropped to the ground, landing lightly on the tips of her toes and right behind a small amount of men, pinning them into the others. Sure, this was against her training. But right now, all she was interested in was getting a reaction from the Xingese. Until she had a chance to properly infiltrate, Akiha was only interested in doing her job to the minimum possible level.

Stepping forwards, the girl gripped knives from almost every part of her body and started to produce them in spades, throwing them at the others with little care for what happened after they hit. Man after man fell before her, dropping like flies. One of the soldiers, though, saw the happenings and managed to turn around, charging the silver-haired chimera with a grin on his face. He was obviously oblivious to the fact that this girl was a danger to. Gritting her teeth slightly, she produced the two tanto from the backs of her hips and rose them into the air before her. "Jigoku e ike." Stepping forwards with a quick one-two motion, Akiha rose her hands into the air and sliced twice. The first would cut through his throat, while the second would rend his skull in two with no care in the world. Covered in the blood of this man, Akiha took his opportunity to 'disappear', using her agility in order to escape from the sights of any others, sitting on the roof of a building to watch once more, before turning her eyes upon the Jade Palace itself. Hm. "So, when do we get to take that place, huh?" She laughed softly, not sure if anyone had heard her... she didn't really care.

Steel and Jade, the Xingese Defend!
Known PC's: Peizhi

The Jade Palace. Standing in the very centre of Xi'an, this great-walled building seems to be rather easy to approach. With approximately twenty meters of space surrounding it and separating it from the buildings, there was little way of simply approaching it quietly without being seen by one of the multitude of guards posted on the roof, armed with former Soviet rifles (Type 85, a variant of the Soviet Dragunov SVD) and wearing enough armor to resist most gunfire--though movement was certainly reduced. The guards themselves were posted at about 200 feet off of the ground, so they had a rather large range of sight. The walls that surrounded the building were in excess of 150 feet high, and made of the same material as the palace itself--an Alchemically-strengthened variant of Jade, known as Qiáng yù in the native language of the Xingese--most called it Xerxian Jade for some unknown reason. It was most likely to do with the Philosopher of the West. These walls were almost completely impenetrable to modern weapons-fire, and highly explosion-resistant. The gates at the front were made of a highly-reinforced wood, though that was for ease of use--Qiáng yù weighed at least ten times as much as stone. Once you entered the courtyard, you were greeted with a large, open space and plenty of room for a fire-fight. The doors of the Jade Palace would stand there, staring down at you from above. Now these doors were made of Xerxian Jade, but were relatively easy to open from the inside. Other than that, every care had been taken in order to make completely sure that there was no way of infiltrating this Palace. Even the guards posted on the roof had to come up from the front door...

The world was dark, deathly, quiet and still. Eyes flickered to the left and right, trying to look for a way out of this prison--but to no avail. The deep darkness that spread out before these two eyes was deafening. Gritting his teeth, the male shook his head and sighed, feeling the movement of the bandages on his face and ears as he did so. Placing a hand down by his side, he felt the intricate design of his throne. Okay, he was in the Throne Room, the room in the very centre of the Jade Palace itself. Gripping the edges of the chair, Ace had to wonder why they were allowing him to sit in here while he was in such a state. Actually, why was he in such a state? It was then that he remembered. He had recently finalized the grafting of his last Alkahestry to his eyes--the one that would allow him to see at a distance and sharpness that few could only dream of. The eyes of the great hawk, combined with the blade that could cut through anything. He quickly checked the Dragon's Pulse, and smiled to himself. There were a few people around, judging by the energies felt. And then, something resounded--it seemed to be an explosion. Grimacing, Ace reached a hand up to his face in order to remove the bandages... and then stopped short. It was not the time, nor the place. Only the right time would suffice... removing these bonds. And that would be when it came to fight.

Another explosion, and the sounds of loud footsteps approached him. "Sire! There has been an attack on the township of Xi'an. We are not completely sure yet, but it seems that there are a mixture of Aerugese Imperialists and an unknown mercenary force!" Another sound, and Ace realized that the male was in a kow-tow before him. Holding up a hand, Saeji would wave him off and smile somewhat knowingly. "As expected..." His voice quickly dropped down to a whisper, as the youthful emperor began to muse quietly. "So, what Hei Jin told me was the truth. Though we didn't have an exact date, that means that my preparations can go through..." Grinning, Saeji suddenly raised his voice again, letting the tones spread throughout the Throne Room. "The second attacker is most likely RIOTE," Whispers spread throughout the room at the mention of the word, but Ace continued on, "We are going to fight. We are not going to fall." Though Peizhi would most likely still be in the room, Ace needed to speak to the majority of his men. First, however... he picked up a short-band transmitter and spoke directly into it. "Lion. The attack has begun. Take your men and defend the door. I want nobody getting into the Palace of Jade unless I let them. If someone approaches with good intentions, then you can allow them in. I can take a single person with ease." The transmitters could only be used within the Palace, and had no range to be picked up on outside of the building. The enemy would have no way of picking up on the innermost discussions. His next order went to one of the men. "I need Eames, Lo, Xiao, Jeu-Hee, Lucrezia, Villetta and Xanthus." Waving the person off, Ace would sit and wait until all had been confirmed.

Once he was aware that the people he had asked for had been gathered around him, Ace placed his hands on the edges of the chair and slowly stood up, stumbling forwards slightly due to the blindness. He took three steps down the stairs and then turned his head, as if looking at each of the people gathered before him. "You are my innermost sanctum, the most trusted soldiers I have gathered around me. There is an old Xingese saying, one that we must all certainly know. 滴水之恩,当以涌泉相报. 'A drop of water shall be returned with a burst of spring.' Normally, this is intended to mean that good deeds shall always be returned, even if it's only through a small amount. However, we are going to take this inversely. They may attack us now, but when we push back it shall be great." Grinning, Ace held a hand up into the air, before bringing it down once more. "As for orders... I will give those now. We shall retain communications over the short-band radios. They will not pick up on our communications that way." Placing a hand on his hip, Saeji began to speak to each of the people in order.

"My Mǎqiánzú (Pawns) and their Qíshì (Knight) have already been deployed. As we speak, Ururi and his men will be defending the doors of the Palace from the invaders."

"Leon. Karen. You two will be under the codename Chē (Rook). I want you both controlling the internal guard of the Palace itself--everywhere except the Throne Room. Anything happens, report it to me as soon as you've dealt with it."

"Xiao. You are under the codename Qíshì (Knight) as well. However, you will be stationed here, with the Imperial Guard. You shall be tasked with defending this Throne Room with your lives."

"Jeu-Hee, Lucrezia. You two are my Zhǔjiào (Bishops). I want you both on the field, running a medical station. I don't mind if you treat the enemy as well, but make sure that if you do, they cannot go back into the fight. Jeu-Hee, you're running security of the medical station. If these idiots have any sense of honor, they'll leave a medic alone--you're there to make sure they do."

"Finally, my Peizhi, my Nǚwáng (Queen). You're going to be with me, protecting my side. You have, however, the possibility of moving anywhere in this Palace if need be--let us hope there is no need. As your Wáng (King), I cannot move from this place, though once the battle becomes its fiercest, that will most likely change."
Smiling softly, Ace changed his expression to a somewhat more serious one.

"Xanthus, Black Company and Villetta. You have free reign to do what you need to, but I don't want a knife in my back. Report to me with what you've done, and let me know. I'm counting on you to be my secret weapons." Smiling darkly, Ace took several steps down towards the feeling of many, many souls that was Xanthus. As he approached, he leaned up and whispered quietly into the ear of the male. "Especially you, Zhūrú (Homunculus)." Turning away and slowly moving back to his throne, Ace found it and sat back down, chuckling softly and calmly. "You are all dismissed. We will fight these invaders and show them why Xing has not been taken over in over a millennium. GO!" Holding up a hand, Ace listened as the footsteps escaped his hearing and sighed softly, turning to where he expected Peizhi to be. "I will remove these bandages when the time is right. For now, I want you to be my eyes. Can you do that, Wǒ de ài (my love)?"

{GO GO GO! Sorry if you were skipped, we need to get this mission moving. Post next round.}

MISSION: World War III: Peace and the Pestilence of RIOTE {3} Empty JADE PALACE- Steps: Lu, Ace, Anyone under his command

Post by Guest Sun May 20, 2012 9:42 pm

The morning was started in rags, but ended decked out in a Xingese commander uniform that was mostly black. With golden buttons and even a flashy hat to go along with it, Ururi didn't feel like himself, but he felt stronger. Recently recruited into the Xingese army, he didn't even need to climb the ranks to get to where he was really. And with that, he even dragged Lu into it all. He was a bit nervous about that and pretty much everything else, but mostly Lu. His breakfast was canned pears and to him, it was a feast. Usually he had to go beg outside a restaurant for leftovers or scour the trashcans for discarded things. Moldy bread was a luxury, therefore this...this was glorious! He devoured everything and even attempted to lick the inside, succeeding only in cutting his tongue. Lu had already gone when he woke up...probably to work or something; he wasn't sure. Right now, Uru wasn't sure about much. Muttering under his breath, he smoothed out the rumpled uniform that hadn't yet been washed due to the fact that he didn't have a washing machine. Somehow scrubbing the lavish material in the Yangtze river didn't seem like a great idea. Spritzing it in cologne he found in the trash of a neighboring mansion down the block, he managed to survive thus far without smelling bad. That and the hair gel made him smell nice actually according to Lu, and really that was all he cared about. Everyone else all had their own judgements in which he didn't allow himself to worry over except right now because he was worrying about it.

Speaking of worrying. There was insider information about an attack occurring. The emperor jumped through hoops to share this with Uru, but honestly he had no idea how that pertained to his job. So he lazed around until one of these attacks happened and then what? Was he supposed to throw stones at the attackers until they went away? It sounded simple enough, but this terrorist group called RIOTE seemed pretty scary what with destroying Amestris and stuff. He shuddered inwardly and piled the can on top of a bunch of other shiny things he collected, and went about checking to see if his transmutation circle didn't get wiped off or smeared in his sleep. Going over it in a sharpie he found that was practically empty, he ensured its strength just in case they were attacked today.

The day passed in leisure. Ururi was given money by someone he didn't know to go buy lunch and it was a lot of money. Needless to say he bought a big lunch. So big that the sheer amount of the food made him sick. The rest of the day was spent in the palace public bathroom. Washing his face in the sink and fixing the wild touslement of blond hair in the mirror, he returned out the door and suddenly...a voice came from the sky. "Lion." THAT WAS HIM. OMG. Uru held his breath. "The attack has begun. Take your men and defend the door. I want nobody getting into the Palace of Jade unless I let them. If someone approaches with good intentions, then you can allow them in. I can take a single person with ease." His men? He owned men? What did that mean? The attack started?! Maybe that was what that smoke in the distance was. He thought it was a campfire... He kind of wanted smores but... uughh his stomach... Never again. And that voice... instead of being god, it sounded kind of like the Emperor. WAIT. He looked down at where the sound seemed to be coming from and stared crossly at the black thing with buttons that he had been told to carry around for communication. OH. It kind of made sense now. So god talked through there to people instead of beaming down from the sky? Waitasecond. But it sounded like Saeji Aeries. So... IT WAS FOR HIS JOB. Alright, alright, he had this! He was in front of the Jade Palace right now so it was safe. But he had to get men to help him prolly. Uh...uhhh... Fiddling with the device, Uru pressed buttons until it beeped.

"He-hello? I'm not sure this is working, but the Emperor says we were attacked s-so if you can you should come help me defend the Jade Palace. I'm here now so...yeah uhm how do I stop this thing? I think--" It worked! He reached the outside and sat down on the steps, crossing his arms and trying to look important by scrunching his face all mean like. Grr!

[You guys all screwed up the times (this is why I say we shouldn't do times ever please). It's supposed to be some time after Briggs was attacked so like Ross has: 9pm when the attack starts so please take note of that and don't ever specify time; it confuses everything.]

MISSION: World War III: Peace and the Pestilence of RIOTE {3} Empty JADE PALACE -> THRONE ROOM -> INNER GATES: Ace, Karen, Peizhi, Xiao, Jeu-Hee, Lucrezia, Villetta, Xanthus; LATER: Ururi

Xi'an, Xing
The Jade Palace
April XX, 2012

Swish. Tap. Swish. Tap. Swish. Tap.

The cool edge of Durandal touched against the ceramic flooring of the palace's inner corridors at equidistant time intervals barely a split-second apart. Eames' analytical mind had lapsed into a meditatory state, one of the Balmung Twins barely tilting upwards and downwards with the sword loosely grasped, blazing golden infernos staring off emptily into the middle-distance. This was meditation at its most basic; occupying the front of the mind with a menial and mundane task so the back could find peace, and truly comprehend and understand the life's more complex workings.

Swish. Tap. Swish. Tap. Swish. Tap.

The blade didn't cease action just yet as Eames drifted over a number of topics. His empire. His legacy. His father, and what little bitter regret he held out of principle for his denying the man his wishes. His business. His skills. His sudden... change in occupation. His move to Xing... and his lovely, lovely assistant, cherry-red lipstick and all. He smirked to himself, eyes drifting upwards and re-aligning themselves as he realised: he still owed her that dress.

Swish. Tap. Swish. Tap. Swish-

"Sir?" Eames' eyelids fluttered, and he immediately snapped upwards into action. His arched, curved back flattened out, straight as an arrow, and as true as the man's aim, and with a single hand, he twirled his blade, rotating his opposite shoulder, and moving it up into a ready stance, grasping the hilt of Durandal with interlocked fingers as his yellow-gold irises finally found their target. The 'perceived' threat he was 'readying' himself for was infact simply just a paled, now-mortified low-ranking soldier, presumably one here to relay a message.

In response to Eames' vicious display of deadly efficiency and twirling blades, the man simply offered a salute in the hope it would save him from what seemed to be an impending overhead cleave that the Cretan was so renowned for. "Yes?" The official asked coldly, and simply, looking over both of his shoulders systematically, a reflex when he wasn't with Karen, the very woman who acted as his own safeguard and net to fall back on. He'd become reliant and dependent upon her very presence to protect him from any manner of incoming 'threats'.

There was no apology in his voice, but, all-too-quickly, the trembling militant relayed Saeji Aeries' message, and scuttled along to serve it up to the next individual so lucky to receive it. Eames rose his eyebrows, and, then, let them fall, hoping that Karen would be relayed a similar command; a rendez-vous in Ace's personal throne room was indeed in order.

*****

Sidling into the Emperor's innermost sanctum was a matter of simplicity; many-a-time had Eames visited Ace's throne room on matters of importance, or merely for just a simple, menial, friendly visit. As his officially-appointed Envoy, Eames' rank was a symbol of close friendship and camaraderie to the blind emperor, a symbol that, ironically, Saeji couldn't perceive with all of his senses as the man slipped in near-silently, Durandal cradled in his cold, metal hands.

The spiel began quickly and seemed to go on forever, but the gist was simple enough: the palace was under assault, and a counter-attack was to be made. Eames waited intently for his specific orders alongside Karen, inclining his head in her direction as soon as his assistant and bodyguard appeared, a cold, steely expression sitting upon his face - one no different from the norm with the Cretan executive-turned-soldier. "Leon. Karen. You two will be under the codename Chē (Rook). I want you both controlling the internal guard of the Palace itself--everywhere except the Throne Room. Anything happens, report it to me as soon as you've dealt with it."

Inclining his head was the first movement Eames made; the second was turning to Karen, and gesturing that they slip out before Ace finished his speech. Eames lead; and usually, Karen would follow, but, there was always a factor of free will. Karen was his employee, and his assistant; but not his slave.

Rooks' greatest qualities were that they were manoeuvrable; and so could Karen and Eames be, and not just in the most literal of terms. Through use of the short-term radios, and complete control over the Palace's security offices, they would have the eyes of Xing at their disposal - and, even better, strike teams of armed guardsmen deployed at critical junctures around the structure itself, in every possible nook and cranny. Ururi's job was to keep the invaders from getting in; theirs was to eviscerate any living being with feelings of hostility towards their Emperor that managed to pass him by. Whilst the 'Lion' was a great defense, there were undoubtedly tricksters in the enemies' ranks. "Security Stations Alpha through Delta, this is Eames. Have you been informed of the situation, over?"

The short-wave radio pinned to the gold-trimmed lapel of the executive's lavish uniform hissed and crackled for but a moment after his finger lifted from the input button, before a distorted response came back in formal Xingese. "That's a positive, sir. All security stations have been issued a briefing, and are active and at yours and your companion's disposal as per his Majesty's orders,"

A confident smile crept onto Eames' face as he turned to Karen and smiled, twirling Durandal quickly through the motions and slipping into a battle-ready pose. He didn't have to say anything. He didn't have to gesture anything. Only that look, that fire alight in his shimmering orbs, that spark set to the powder keg in those golden jewels of eyes could trigger an understanding of such a complex yet simple emotion, and it could only trigger than comprehension in a single person: it was that binding employee-employer contract, written in money and blood, that brought them this close, and that binding employee-employer contract which ensured Karen would know the meaning of that expression of sheer, true, one-hundred-percent tenacious determination.

'It's time.'

MISSION: World War III: Peace and the Pestilence of RIOTE {3} Empty Jade Palace | Throne Room

Xi'an, Xing
The Jade Palace
April XX, 2012

Villetta had traveled quite the long distance to arrive in Xing this day. Apparantly, they had been attacked by the Aerugese Empire. She figured as much, it was only a matter of time before oil mixed with water. She reached into her bag, and pulled out two objects. A box of doughnuts, and a rather large black cloak. It was beyond her ability to wear such a thing in her childish form, but she had plans. She could not be seen on the battlefield. It would lead to political backlash if she were to be caught in Xing, aiding Xing, against the Aerugese where she actually resided. She reached into her box and grabbed a fresh doughnut, and munched on it while the lecture proceeded. Ace was barking out orders for everyone, of course in his native tongue...a thing she did not speak. "你们两个将根据代号輋(鲁克),我想你都控制故宫本身的内部后卫 - 。除王座室随处可见了什么事,只要你报告给我。“莱昂卡伦用它处理" What the fuck was he talking about. She felt like a child watching those shitty Aerugo infomercials. It was all just a bunch of rambling. She could probably pick it apart and compare words in Aerugese, but even then it wouldn't mean shit to her. A classic example of being lost without translation. She tuned everything out as she concentrated on finishing the tasty box of awesomeness before her. She smiled as she gained a splendid idea. In the mist of all this chaos and fighting, wouldn't it be easier to act the part of helping the lower clans, while stealing any information she can on their crafts? Yes. Simple and no one could be the wiser. She sneered. She was so smart. That is until she heard her name. At which point she looked up at Ace, oh now he decides to speak in her language. Apparantly she was given free reign to do what she pleases. A vital mistake on his part, but it wouldn't be a knife in his back. She needed him alive in the grand scheme of things. She had this itching feeling he was the key to everything somehow.

She smiled and unfurled her cloak, she watched as people began to leave. Guess it was over. Good, then no one will see her do what she was going to do next. She wrapped herself in the giant cloak, and pulled the hood close to her face. The shadow of the large cloak obscured the light from reaching her face. It was quite adorable, she looked like a baby grim reaper. But as soon as she was sure that her body was completely hidden beneath it, she began to grow in size. Her body filling out the cloak to the point it held a curvaceous woman's body, clearly no longer a child. She bent over and reached for a doughnut, her smooth skin began to take an ivory color as something began to spread over the back of her hands. The ivory bone looking hand pulled out a powdered sugar doughnut, and then turned to leave. As soon as the doughnut was gone, a long ivory pole began to sprout from her hand. The end of which flared out and became an ivory scythe. The Grim Reaper was about to walk the battlefield. Allies, and Foes should be wary of her, but her targets are discriminate. She won't attack blindly. As Death Chooses her prey carefully, and makes sure to eradicate them completely. She made a vow not to say too much, as Death's words come at a fatal price.

As she left the palace, and proceeded towards the gates. She watched as the Xing guards rushed to their posts. The air she exuded was by far threatening, but should anyone be able to sense her Qi. It was tranquil within these walls, which should allow some to not feel to hostile to Death. The hood tilted up as it looked to the top of the wall. Damn that thing was tall. What was it 200 feet high? Who needs a wall that fucking huge? Perhaps the emperor was compensating for a lack of 'equipment'. Afterall, small men covet big things. She smiled beneath her shadowed hood. She bent her knees, causing her cloak to drape across the ground. A small spark of blue shot out from her body, as she leapt high into the air. She reached the top of the wall in a matter of seconds, and landed lightly at the top. A feat that freaked out several guards, as they moved backward. She couldn't fly too well, so jumping was still the faster mode of transportation for her. She moved toward the other edge, and then simply dropped off the edge. As her body hurtled toward the ground, the blue spark emitted from her body once more. Strangely, her cloak did not flip upward, but billowed omniously below her. She slammed into the ground with such force it would kill any man, but as the dust and pebbles settled...Death walked towards the streets of Xing. Looking for the first target. Lady Death would not wait for the battle to reach her, but dwindle the forces of the Empire so that the Xingese stood a better chance. With that said, she moved to the right and disappeared into the shadows.

MISSION: World War III: Peace and the Pestilence of RIOTE {3} Empty Xian, Xing Jade Palace [Ace, Ururi, Jeu-hee]

Post by Guest Tue May 22, 2012 1:52 am

It was a day like any other. Lucrezia woke up confused at where she was and for once she found herself on the streets. For a moment she couldn't remember a thing and she panicked, but her heart-rate slowed when she felt the comforting presence of someone near her. A boy she knew so well. A silent smile came to her face as she tucked a lock of his hair behind his ear. Scarlet mixed on her face a moment and she felt a sudden tinge of panic strike her again. Was that creepy? It sure seemed it! She jumped to her feet and dusted herself off, still blushing brightly. Her long white hair reaching a good length to her legs. The blue-green spheres that allowed her to see observed her surroundings and took in all on the slowly awakening sun. It was gorgeous to her and she smiled.

What if she could touch the sun? That thought was amazing. However it was terrifying at the same time. The scorching fire surely would hurt worse than anything she'd ever felt. She quickly retracted touching the sun as a good idea and went back to looking around. Her fingers absent-mindedly went through her hair, making her grimace and wince when reaching knots.

A kind old woman saw her struggling and offered to help. Lucrezia did not reject the help. With a great thanks, she let the old woman help her brush her hair. After all, long hair was hard to take care of. Afterwards, the woman gave her the brush to keep! Lucrezia, excited about it, gave her a huge hug and scurried off to tell Ururi.. but he was still sleeping. Laying her brush down with her bag, she went off again, scouting the area and quickly getting lost in the endless streets. Well that wasn't any good. She had no idea where to go now and she had no idea of the time, either! So after that, she sat and ended up dozing beneath a tree until she heard someone calling her voice.

"Ah, hello nice men." She would start before they cut her off and rushed her to the palace. Wait this was where she worked.. right? Her body was pushed speedily through the doors and into a room where she was sat down and pat on the head. At the head sat a man known as the emperor, Ace. What was this about?

Most of his words was pish posh to her. She didn't understand it. They were under attack? Who would attack them? All would be explained but Lucrezia had no idea how to react. It was overwhelming, yet she was not as frightened a she thought she'd be, that was until a certain sentence came into play. This game was no child's game, this was real life! People's lives were at stake! Lucrezia shrank into her seat.

"My Mǎqiánzú (Pawns) and their Qíshì (Knight) have already been deployed. As we speak, Ururi and his men will be defending the doors of the Palace from the invaders."

A-AH! Ururi! Did this mean he was in danger? Was Ururi going to get hurt?! Lucrezia felt a thin needle sink into her heart. She couldn't fathom the pain she'd feel if something were to happen to the man she adored. Her eyes sad and concerned though a look of happiness remained. Stay strong, there is no room for weakness.. right? Who had told her that? She couldn't remember.

A hand fell to her chest and she took a deep breath. A soft drum was playing in her soul, it called out her innermost thoughts and yet was silent to those around her. Confidence morphed into determination. There was no turning back once the attack had started, the world they knew was stirred into throes of chaos and warfare. A singular tear fell from her cheek in its crystal trace. Crybaby Lucrezia, yet she felt a stirring in her, a pride and a goal. There was a job to do and if she did it right, there would be lives saved from the waves of war.

Confidence struck hard in her. She wiped her cheek as indiscreetly as possible, while rising in her seat and giving a bow to their leader. She had no words to say, tongue-tied and working hard to mentally assess the situation. Her eyes cast to Jeu-Hee's in a friendly glimmer. The smile on her face warm. A silent word of acceptance while she walked over and grabbed her hand. Leaning down, Lucrezia would speak softly. "Let's do our best out there!" Not that the woman in particular needed a pep-talk, it just came to Luc before she spun on her heels and simply left in a hurried manner. Her radio was held tight in hand.

I have someone I need to see again. I have to make sure everything goes good or else I might never see him again. That would be horrible! Her voice stated in her mind as she would stride step after step towards the destination of camp. With a little help, she had wrestled the tent open and inside, the 'beds' were organized. Her heart thudded heavily, wondering if she could make it through this. She had faith in herself. The Emperor needed her! Xing needed her! An internal pep-talk as she swallowed back tears. She didn't want this battle to happen, but it was not her choice to make.

Swallowing back the lump in her throat, she sobbed by herself; not seen by the people. Her back was turned and as a few tears dripped, she heard footsteps and immediately snapped back to earth. Strength! Inner strength! She had what it takes.. right? Now wasn't the time for second guessing! Spinning on her heels, she smiled friendly at her co-worker and wiped her cheeks. Be safe. I want to see your smile again. If he could hear her, he would probably laugh. there were some things Luc would forever keep locked away within her heart. He probably thought she was silly, but she didn't mind, as long as she could be around him.

"Is everyone ready?" She'd ask in a bit chipper tune. Her body rocking on heels before she looked left and right to spy the medical supplies they had. Hopefully it would last. Things would work out, she knew it! Her mind however, was constantly on Ururi. She wished she could have spent more time with him before this, yet she knew that was selfish and tried to focus her mind back to the battle.

Remembering her radio, she looked at it, fumbling some before speaking in a shaky tone. "Uh.. hello does this work? If so.. we, Lu- I mean..Zhǔjiào we've established a base and all is well." She hoped she did that right as she stood in the tent, a bit nervous as to what to do next.

MISSION: World War III: Peace and the Pestilence of RIOTE {3} Empty XI'AN, JADE PALACE AMBASSADORS QUARTERS -> THRONE ROOM -> HER QUARTERS AGAIN -> MEDICAL STATION AT CAMP{ACE, LUCREZIA}

Post by Guest Tue May 22, 2012 11:56 am

"I am also glad things went so well. Take care Ambassador." The phone clicked as it was placed back upon its holder, the fingers that moved away delicate and slender. They were attached to the arm of the young Xingese Ambassador who now rubbed her eyes with a deep breath. It had been a long day and she was ready to either drink some tea or go home. Not that she would do the latter, she felt that she still had too much work to do and probably some phone calls to make. Her parents would most likely be at work in any case. So with a light sigh and her ever sweet smile, Jeu-Hee pushed herself up from her desk in her office within the Jade Palace, walking out and over to the nearby kitchen for a fresh batch of tea. "Long hours again Ambassador?" She heard a voice call, her body turning slowly to look upon one of her aids. "As always." They shared a chuckle and he moved onward, Jeu-Hee now leaning against a counter behind her with a sigh.

Her long hair was tied back into a crown about her hair, a ribbon woven throughout the braid that looped about her head. It came into a small bun at the base of her head since she just had so much freaking hair! She was wearing a lovely dress that fit her particular mood today. She wore low heels that matched, bracelets jingling at her wrists. There was a rather distinctive odd ring upon the fourth finger of her left hand that she paused to gaze at in contained joy. Ancestors... the warmth that she felt everytime she looked at it now!!! She was going to be married. It made her smile soften and as she pulled the pot off, pouring the hot water into her mug. How was he doing in Fort Briggs? Was he doing well? Was he bored? Cold? Was he already beginning to make plans like she was? There were so many things!!!

Just as she lifted the pot and put it back, she heard a sound that shouldn't be here. It existed in a different place and a different time. It shouldn't be here. Explosions. She froze at her place, eyes gone wide as shivers went down her spine and her insides went cold. No. No that wasn't even in her mind... That was.... Her mug forgotten, she bolted out of the little kitchen and back to her office to the windows that extended behind her desk, those icy fingers clutching up throughout her body again. The smoke didn't lie, they were under attack. "Ancestors no..." She took one step back, and then another in her disbelief, managing to snap out of it within another second. Her parents. They had to be fine. Whipping around, she had just picked up the receiver when two guards appeared at the doorway looking stern as they usually did. She knew those looks. Her parents would have to wait. She followed after them wordlessly to the throne room to meet with her emperor, dread still filling her heart after her last encounter with the Hell called War.

Other figures were there, slowly gathering as Jeu-Hee strode into the room and took her place off to one side. Her brows furrowed slightly at the sight of her emperor with those bandages about his face, what had happened? That could come later. For now, he was speaking. Taking a deep breath, she exhaled it slowly, nodding once as he grinned and brought his hand down. This time would be different. This time.... She was better prepared. As Saeji addressed each person, her emerald eyes turned to each of them, taking in those that she was unfamiliar with. Leon was a foreigner and the woman next to him must be his guard. Karen. They looked far more confident about this situation than she felt. Xiao. Her currently impassive features regained a hint of her sweet smile, lowering her gaze for that moment as she offered a quiet prayer to the Ancestors for the well-being of his son, his nanny, and her parents. Let them remain safe amongst the fighting.

Then it was her turn.

She was running security? Yes, yes this was something she could definitely do. Taking another deep breath, she smiled and nodded again with far more energy than she had before. She almost transformed right there on the spot, but she may as well hold off for the moment. Her head turned to look at the seemingly young girl whom she would be working with, blinking twice at her appearance before a warm smile also took over her features. Another foreigner. But she wasn't able to readily identify from where like she could with Leon. He was most likely Cretan from how he held himself and the cane that he carried with him. She gripped the girls hand firmly, but gentle, bending a little to also lean close. "Let's do our best out there!" Straightening up, she grinned, "Indeed!" And with that, she followed the odd girl out, making a note of the fact she had dabbed at her eyes before they were given their orders. She too, must have someone out on the battlefield. She offered another prayer for them as well.

Jeu-Hee shed her heels and carried them with her, darting back to her office as quickly as she could so that she could change into more appropriate clothes for fighting. Pulling on the black fatigues, she strapped on her belt and pulled on those boots, lacing them tightly. Off came the bracelets and out came the earrings, her hair remaining as it was since it remained up and out of the way. Her ring stayed. That would not leave her finger unless it was cut off. Walking over to the closet that was in her office, she moved the false back panel and pulled out the bag that was there waiting for such an occasion as this. Oddly enough, she didn't feel the fear that she did before when they traveled to that cold land of Drachma. She only felt... certainty. This was a mission op, and her duties were clear. What was different, was that it was clear who was the enemy and her motivations. They were the bad guys because they were attacking her home and placing her loved ones in danger. That was all she needed. The glimpse of black and white in a situation of war.

Now that she was clothed for battle and had her weapons, she ran back down and out to the camp, quickly finding where it was that she was supposed to be. As she slipped into the tent, she saw Lucrezia there, tears still clear upon her cheeks as she addressed everyone. Jeu-Hee remained off to the side, placing her bag down and zipping it open quietly. Pulling out a square case, she placed that aside before drawing out the two pistols and extra clips alongside them. Then came her combat knives, strapping one to the inside of her boot, another on her upper arm, and one at her hip. "Is everyone ready?" Jeu-Hee carried on as Lucrezia addressed everyone else, opening up the square case to gaze upon her sniper rifle inside. She would definitely use her this time. "Uh.. hello does this work? If so.. we, Lu- I mean..Zhǔjiào we've established a base and all is well." Parts snapped into place as she listened to words shakingly said, gripping her own radio to check in. "Copy. Zhǔjiào reporting." Picking up the clips, she placed them into one of her pouches before sliding her pistols into the holsters under her arms, the rifle remaining in her hands.

She walked up to Lucrezia and gave her an easy smile, placing a hand on her shoulder. "Deep breathes, we will be alright. Offer any prayers to the Ancestors and they will listen. We will show these jerkwads not to mess with us or our friends!" Giggling brightly, she bounced out of the tent and whistled shrilly to catch the attention of the soldiers that were there for them. Immediately the higher ranks gathered and saluted her which she returned with her sweet smile. Yes, she was far more confident this time. She had to be, this seemed to be her partners first battle and she did not want her succumbing to the fear that took her over in Drachma. "I'm Jeu-Hee, I'll be in charge of security. What is our status?" "Four squads total, two squad of Chu Ko Nu's and two of soldiers, and plenty of grenades. Some also have the old rifles." Jeu-Hee nodded to herself as she pondered this, biting her lower lip. "I want a squad of Chu Ko Nu's at the front. They will do the most damage to any unwanted approaches from the enemy. The other shall be a last line of defense to the tent." She nodded to those leaders who saluted her again, making note of their faces so she would know who to look for. "I want two soldiers guarding the tent at all times. We will heal anyone, and I mean anyone. Even the enemy. However, they will not be permitted to return to battle. Once they are out of danger, I want at least two guards on them as well. Four if possible." They nodded again to her in understanding, her eyes looking onward to their surroundings to get some kind of bearings. "I want two groups of four ready to flank. Stay out of sight until they reach this point or if supporting fire is needed. In sight, I want a group of six in between our Chu No Ku groups. I will offer sniper fire, then a good fight should they draw too close. Sound good? Make it so!" They all saluted her again which she returned before they ran off to order their men as she asked.

Taking another deep breath, she only felt a calm within her, the fear of the distant explosions and gunfire only just that. They were background noise. They did not cause her the fear that usually paralyzed her. Slipping back into the tent, she went back over to her bag and picked up the extra ammo for her sniper rifle, smiling warmly to Lucrezia again. "What are your strengths for combat Lucrezia?"

MISSION: World War III: Peace and the Pestilence of RIOTE {3} Empty XI'AN, JADE PALACE, NON-DESCRIPT MEETING ROOM -> THRONE ROOM -> LEON'S SIDE {LEON}

Post by Guest Tue May 22, 2012 1:13 pm

"Status Report."

The voice seemed loud in the empty meeting room, but it was distorted as it always was when they weren't on a positively secure channel. Karen had no doubts who it was, however. "Status normal. Target is secure and safe. Almost had issue's on a business trip to Amestris, but trouble proved to be nothing. Mission normal." She reported to the screen in front of her with the picture of a particular flower upon it. It must be Tiger Lily taking reports at this time. That was how they identified each other was either by code-names or pictures. At least, the higher ups. She was just a soldier, a tool for them to order about as they always had. She did not mind, it was the only life she knew.

"Good. Return to your duties. Watch the horizon sister, clouds are gathering."

That made Karen's brows furrow, her words catching in her throat at the pause that it caused her. There would only be one reason that they would tell her that. War was coming. Bowing, the line was disconnected and she was left truly alone in the room. She was wearing a variation of her usual clothes, a black patterned chong song with a high slit up each leg and her white short jacket that hid the chords of her Twin Lotus' from view. She had the holsters for her Silent Peckings strapped to her upper thighs, golden bracelets gleaming in the florescent light. The grimace remained on her lips as her black eyes glanced to the covered windows, her red heels clicking against the stone floor as she walked over to them. She heard a distant boom, perfectly painted nails parting the curtains so she could peer out upon the old city of Xi'an. Smoke was rising in the distance. An ill omen.

Footsteps. As she whipped about to face the door, three kunai flew from her fingertips and embedded themselves in the door just past the man who stood there, now quite startled and nervous of this woman he was supposed to fetch. "What is it?" She asked softly, her eyes narrowed and hard as the man reported in a wavering voice where she was to report to now. A smile suddenly came over her features, walking up to him and pulling her kunai from the wood and slipping them back in their holster at her thigh. "Oh is that all? Then let us be off!" She spoke brightly, but the man still shivered despite how cheerful she now seemed. It was her eyes. The warmth did not reach that place, and sent shivers down his spine. What was wrong with this woman? Karen, on the other hand, was entirely focused upon what she knew was to come.

She was not disappointed as she strode into the throne room, materializing next to her employer reapplying her lipstick as she listened to the emperor speak. Perhaps it was rude of her to do that, but a girl had to look fresh. Even if it was for the enemy that would be cut apart by her blades. Were all rulers wordy? Leon hardly seemed to fall into that trap though sometimes at board meetings he would. That was an entirely different situation though, and it wasn't like those other fools didn't do the same. Pointless was what it seemed to her, and she knew that he could pick up on that. Her eyes flickered to her boss and met his steely gaze, her own as sharp as his was. They were ready. "Leon. Karen. You two will be under the codename Chē (Rook). I want you both controlling the internal guard of the Palace itself--everywhere except the Throne Room. Anything happens, report it to me as soon as you've dealt with it."

Her compact snapped closed and vanished into the folds of her white jacket along with her lipstick, her long bangs hiding her one eye per usual as she looked from Saeji to Leon. Bowing her head, she followed in precise yet graceful motions after her employer without a single word. For what words needed to be said? The pair barely needed to speak as they had grown to read each other with ease and complete certainty. Heh, he still owed her that new dress. A smirk broke the hard exterior of her features, double checking the radio that was pinned to her coat. "Security Stations Alpha through Delta, this is Eames. Have you been informed of the situation, over?" She listened without comment to the report that came back, wondering what her other sisters would be doing during this battle. Were they scattered throughout the city protecting it? Were they ensuring other dignitaries would be safe? Or were they elsewhere sewing their seeds of death and silence? No matter where they were, or what they were doing, it was benefiting their beautiful and ancient home.

Karen straightened up and met Leon's gaze, her own smirk growing as she drew one of her twin lotus' and spun it once. She knew that look very well for it appeared whenever they sparred against one another, whenever excitement lit their veins and sung of the frenzy that would come. It was time, and her blades cried out for battle. "I want the personal still in the palace who are non-combatant gathered and placed somewhere safe and out of the way. The rest, prepare yourselves. Rook out." She spoke over the radio, her eyes never leaving Leon's as her land lowered to her side. Let this dance begin.

MISSION: World War III: Peace and the Pestilence of RIOTE {3} Empty Re: MISSION: World War III: Peace and the Pestilence of RIOTE {3}

Country: Amestris
City: Outside of West City

The entire world seemed to be ending in a flash of crimson. A wizened elder stood facing a young Ishvallan with a visage of extreme arrogance written plain upon his features. He seemed to be mocking him, tempting him to attempt to destroy what he had wrought. 'What can one boy possibly do?' His contemptuous gaze seemed to be screaming plainly, even though no words were passed between them. Both the elder and the Ishvallan seemed to be covered with punctures, bruises, and various lacerations, as though they had just been battling for their lives to the death. Blood flowed freely from various deep wounds, and it was a forgone conclusion that internal injuries were present. Whomever emerged from the conflict would probably soon die thereafter of their injuries, as there was not a proper facility nearby for the healing of such dire wounds.

Though the elder expected fury, or even an expression of hopelessness from his younger opponent, his crimson eyes revealed only the same undying pride that they always revealed. Why would he not simply give in? As a final resort, the man had set his final project into action, and would soon posses the limitless power required to crush this whelp once and for all. The boy simply remained smiling, giving himself extraneous time upon the earth with short bursts of alkahestry applied to the more severe injuries. With one final mocking smile in the old man's direction, the boy seemed to almost bathe in a mysterious flash of crimson as he pointed directly downward and mouthed the words: 'Victory is mine.' The Ishvallan looked upon the wordless shock of the elder one last time before being blinded in a never-ending sea of infinite crimson. A cacophony of screams, including the screams of the old man and the boy, seemed to erupt all at once for an eternity before finally quieting down again to hear words being spoken nearby. "Excellently done Xanthus, or should I say...Pride."

'Lord Captain!'

'Lord Captain!'

Xi'an, Xing
The Jade Palace
April XX, 2012

'Lord Captain!' Xanthus Icarus awoke to the sound of someone calling his Black Company title repeatedly. The first thought that crossed his mind was not to wonder about why someone had interrupted his sleep; his first thought was to wonder about why he had been sleeping in the first place. The occasion was rare since almost a year ago that he would actually be doing anything more than relaxing rather deeply, but in this instance he had actually been asleep. With something of a stretch, Xanthus rose from the lotus position that he had apparently fallen completely asleep in. With a nonchalant wave of his hand, he let the Black Company member know that he was ready to receive whatever message that he had come to deliver. The man quickly said that the emperor had requested his presence. 'Ah, but of course.' The Ishvallan thought to himself darkly; he did not need the soldier to tell him the reason behind the request. He could hear the chaos erupting outside for himself. He vaguely recalled that Xing had recently purchased the services of the Black Company, which is why he was here currently, and Dante Sune was somewhere in the area. Other members of the Black Company were stationed at various points inside the Jade Palace, and many were largely integrated into Xingese units that happened to be in the same areas.

With a seemingly unconcerned expression, Pride drifted into the throne room of the Emperor of Xing. The homunculus was dressed rather well, but not for the occasion of combat at close -mid range. His shined black Bostonians caused an echo to be heard when he walked on his finely covered heels, while the rest of his ensemble probably drew attention to his presence as well visually. He was wearing pitch black slacks, and a matching suit vest, with a long-sleeved white collared shirt underneath. To his credit, he was at least not wearing a tie, though he was wearing a silver Ouroborous medallion on a chain around his neck. For weapons, Absolution and Condemnation were kept in sheathes attached to his back by strong cords that wound around his chest. Likewise his two enhanced handguns, were strapped to his thighs, with several magazines of ammunition being worn on a custom-made black belt. A fair number of knives, around a dozen or so, were located in various points around Xanthus' body, with only two being visible at any one time. So armed and 'armored,' Xanthus appeared before Ace Aeries, the Emperor of Xing. He listened to what the Emperor told the other 'officers' of this particular battle, if only half-heartedly. Soon however, the young leader said his name, gaining his interest for a moment.

"You have free reign to do what you need to, but I don't want a knife in my back. Report to me with what you've done, and let me know. I'm counting on you to be my secret weapons."

Xanthus did not even bother to give the boy his usual smirk; the situation was rather overly important for that. In any case, the Emperor made his way down to where Xanthus was standing, and whispered something rather intriguing into his ear.

"Especially you, Zhūrú (Homunculus)."

This time Xanthus really did smirk, and felt almost tempted to respond in kind though he was able to resist. He had forgotten about the Xingese talent that allowed certain members of their community to see the Dragon's Pulse. Of course the Emperor could see the twisted and chaotic energies that swept through Xanthus's being at all times. He at least would know of Icarus's Homunculus nature, even if he did not know specifics. When the Emperor dismissed him, the Homunculus simply nodded and turned on his heel to go back through the door from whence he had come. In essence he was supposed to be 'leading' the Black Company's forces into battle, or at least giving orders of some kind. However he had already given standing orders to 'integrate into the Xingese unit structure' earlier that morning. This was fortunate, as he saw his main duty in the battle to defend the Palace until it was time to counter-attack. It was preferable that he should be mostly alone while doing so, and not burdened with ordering troops about. With that thought in mind, Xanthus promptly cracked his neck for a moment before beginning a long trek down the hallways of the Jade Palace, his shadows spreading out far and wide around him.

MISSION: World War III: Peace and the Pestilence of RIOTE {3} Empty JADE PALACE, THRONE ROOM -> Ace, Peizhi, Imperial Guard NPCs

Post by Xiao Yu Tue May 22, 2012 7:18 pm

Ah, the “locker room.” What a calming room before going into the Throne Room to stand at attention for a good chunk of the day. The room was an old chamber, down the hall from the Throne Room. It had become a place for the Imperial Guards to store their belongings when working in the palace. It was relatively sparse, except for the rows of cubes that served as storage for personal items. Beyond the room was another chamber that held the majority of the weapons designated to the Imperial Guard. A lot of it was ceremonial swords and spears, but they had been steadily compiling a good deal of guns to add to the collection. Xiao, as leader of the guards, had seen that they were prepared; especially after Drachma.

Xiao was currently in the locker room, pulling off his long, uniform coat. He gratefully tossed it down, stretching his limbs. It had been a long day, checking on the security of the Throne Room and running through some drills. He had called in the entire Imperial Guard this afternoon for a good training session, just to keep them limber. And now all Xiao wanted to do was go home. A hot meal and a little play time with his boy, then he could go to sleep! He swiped at the chocolate bar in his cube and undid the wrapper, biting into the Crunch bar. Nothing like a quick sugar boost before he went h-...

A resounding explosion caused him to stop mid-bite. FUCK. He resumed biting down and gobbled down the candy bar like lightning. So much for a hot dinner. He sighed as one of his men came rushing into the room. “The Emperor asks for you to come right away, sir!” Xiao nodded and waved him off. “Assemble the guard. Get them outfitted with the stuff in the back. Assemble outside the Throne Room and wait for my orders.” A hurried nod and the man was gone. Xiao grumbled as he went into the back room himself. He threw a bulletproof vest over his t-shirt, grabbing a few guns and a spear for good measure. The rest of the men would empty it out and bring all the supplies to the Throne Room. He set the stuff on the floor near his cube, pulling his uniform back on. He then grabbed at his cellphone, calling his home.

The phone rang twice and then Nanny Qiu picked it up. “Xiao? What is going on??” She sounded slightly panicked, different from the normally calm woman. “It sounds like we're being invaded, Nanny. Get to the cellar. You know what to do. Stay down there until you hear me knock.” Xiao felt his voice crack the tiniest bit. “Tell Zao I love him and that I'll be home soon.” Nanny Qiu's voice cracked a little bit as well. “I will, Xiao. You be careful.” Xiao hung up the phone, throwing it down. He had prepared his cellar after the war in Drachma, in case of attack. It was fully stocked with food, blankets and baby toys. And Nanny Qiu would know lock herself and Zao inside, not leaving until Xiao came home and knocked a special pattern on the hidden door. Because he would be home. He would not die today.

He put his hookpak over his back, guns in their respective holsters and the spear in his hand. He also grabbed the short-wave radio transmitter from his cube, securing it. Then he headed to the Throne Room, where the temporarily-blinded emperor was holding his war council. Xiao stood stoically to the right side of the throne as Ace issued the orders. He listened carefully to all of them, but most carefully to his own.

"Xiao. You are under the codename Qíshì (Knight) as well. However, you will be stationed here, with the Imperial Guard. You shall be tasked with defending this Throne Room with your lives."

Xiao managed a kurt “hmph” as an acknowledgment of his orders. As the Throne Room emptied of the war council, his fifty men piled in. He glanced back at Ace, sitting on his throne. “We will guard you, mistress Peizhi, and the Throne with our lives, sir. Good fortune in the battle ahead.” He bowed slightly towards him, although Ace could not see it. Then he moved down to his men. As he walked, he glanced around the large room. There were three doors to the throne room. Side doors on the left and right that went into smaller hallways, leading to the guard's quarters and to the emperor's quarters. The main door was where his men now gathered. Large doors that stood three or four times his height and have a sturdy dark wood. “Men, we are to defend this room with our lives. Let us not disappoint. I want most of us stationed near the main door, but a small group at each side door. Some of you, take the guns and station yourselves around the columns to snipe at whoever comes in. But be mindful; those doors may open to reveal our own men coming to the Emperor. Good fortune.

MISSION: World War III: Peace and the Pestilence of RIOTE {3} Empty Re: MISSION: World War III: Peace and the Pestilence of RIOTE {3}

Xi'an, Xing
The Jade Palace
April XX, 2012
[Ace, Xiao]

All the while during the makeshift war council, Peizhi sat quietely and loyally at the side of her beloved emperor. Orders were distributed to the various men and women-- some she knew quite well, some she knew not at all, and others who did not even appear to be Xingese.
Peizhi wore an expression of solemnity and sincerity while Saeji addressed her. Though he could not see her, she had to keep a calm and strong appearance in the presence of so many people. Not only did she represent the Hua clan, but she also represented one of Saeji's himself, in a way. As the Emperor his presence was supposed to command the respect of his subjects, and in this dire time of plight for the Xingese people, she had to display such respect as well. Though she was worried, terribly worried over the boy she loved and the country they called home, she could not let those emotions bleed through now. She would voice her concerns when everyone had left......
The girl's silence persisted even as the small crowd began to file out of the room and Xiao's imperial guard streamed in. In particular, she watched the Ishvallan intently as he exited the throne room. Ever since he had moved into the palace with the hiring of that mercenary group, whatever they were called (Something in Cretan), she had felt a strange aura resonating from him. It was like nothing she had ever sensed before. Though he was a single person, his body resonated with the energy of a monstrous being. It was as if he were hundreds of souls all contained in one body. His presence unnerved her so to the point she had to share her concerns with Saeji. In the end, it seemed that he knew what he was, and had explained it to her, though she had never heard of such a thing before and it hardly dispelled her uneasiness.
However, there were more pressing things to fret over than the unnatural nature of the Ishvallan. With the others (excluding Xiao and his men) gone, Peizhi turned to face her blinded lover. Placing her soft hand upon Saeji's, she looked upon him with a mixture of emotions, of love, of concern, of fear. Xi'an was under attack, and Saeji was in such a condition......he must have had so much weighing on his own mind, so much trepidation to burden him this moment. She had to be strong for him as well. She had to sit at his side and never leave. Now more than ever, he needed her more than she needed him. So with her life, she would protect the boy she loved. He would not see any harm as long as she breathed.

"Saeji...." Peizhi whispered lowly, hoping to hide the quivering of her voice as something dreadful had occurred to her. "Do you think my father....will he be okay? What if they attack the clan leaders?"

The Jade Palace

The chugga-chugga-chugga of his M60 as it recoiled into the Bearer's shoulder over and over would have been painful for some, traumatic for others, and horrific for the last. For Balthazar, it was none of these. It was soothing. It calmed his mind, set him at ease, as he and his squadron targeted, isolated, and focused their fire on each of the juggernaut snipers Aeries had placed upon the roof of his fortress. It was child's play; as armoured as one thing could ever be, with enough force focused on them, they'd topple eventually. And toppling off of the top of the Jade Palace was certainly inadvisable, at the best of times.

"Tartarus, this is Overworld Two-Actual, we are refuelling and will be on our way soon. ETA twelve minutes."

The last of the roof-planted guardsmen fell as Ogihci arrived, platoon and all; the Aerugese were still likely mounting their forces somewhere in the city. Now... he had but for the neophyte, the acolyte, the apprentice of all things bloody to appear. The starlight twinkled across his maniacal pale-grey eyes as the fire concentrated ever further on the doors, men endlessly puncturing those wooden panels with copper-jacketed rounds but to no avail.

"Tartarus, this is Overlord Two-Actual. We are on our way to your co-ordinates, live fire ammunition is locked and loaded, repeat, we are coming in hot. ETA nine minutes."

"Big brother! Or should I call you Balthazar here? You'd probably like that better, right? Anything you like better, I will do! I'm sorry. What are your orders?" The blonde-haired madman spun around to see her: the one he'd been waiting for. Eris. His little sister, she who showered him with veritable affection for every day that she was even close to him. The chattering of machine-gun and rifle fire interwoven was a symphony to the siblings' ears as they smiled at each other, desperate, bloody glee in their eyes.

"Balthazar will do," He smiled down to her, laying his hands on her shoulders, and pressing his face ever-closer, as an older brother would to his little sister, the entire situation twisted and contorted by the two parties' madness and veritable sociopathy. "As for my orders..." He looked up into the sky. Overlord would be here... soon. "Just... just sit tight for now, little one,"

"Tartarus, this is Overlord Two-Actual. We are close to your position, your teams will be danger close, I repeat, danger close. ETA two minutes."

"COMRADES!" Balthazar screamed into the sky, holding his ironically Cretan-borne M60 up, pointing the barrel to the night as if it were a sword to pierce the heavens. "HERE, WE TAKE XING," He held the weapon as if it would cleave the night sky in two. "HERE, WE PROVE DRACHMA'S BRAVERY, AND COURAGE," Another pause. Silence fell upon the troops; the chatter of gunfire ceased. All heads turned to Balthazar in the forty-strong crowd of RIOTE elites. "HERE... HERE, WE PUSH THOSE SLANT-EYED PIG FUCKERS BACK INSIDE THEIR FORTRESS," The M60 stayed suspended in air with a single hand as Balthazar took another, and rose it, free, flat-palmed.

Suddenly, though, the flesh of the free hand twisted, vibrated, and contorted, like a monster undergoing mutagenic transformation. The hand curled inwards on itself slowly; but not without some form of 'natural resistance' putting up a good amount of fight. Eventually, it formed a single icon, a single symbol to unite the people in a great roar, a terrifying shout, as they advanced further into the Jade Palace...

"Tartarus, this is Overlord Two-Actual. ETA is thirty seconds. Brace for impact."

"AND WE'LL CRUSH THEM WHERE THEY STAND!" The night exploded with noise and power. The crushing rounds of a 25mm GAU-8 Equalizer rotary-barrel minigun carved through the wood like a scalpel through flesh, searing through as if it were child's play. Smoke and fumes hissed up behind Balthazar as he stood, turned around, a smug, triumphant smile upon his face, forty sub-machine guns and assault rifles raised in tandem, bouncing up and down, as his men roared with him, a single, indistinct noise of power, a war cry heralding total annihilation.

"EVEN... EVEN THE WRATH OF THE SKY ITSELF IS WITH US," Miles above sat Overlord Two-Actual, one of a number of Drachman crewmen in a veritable flying fortress, fitted with gear the likes of which even Armageddon itself would rear in fear of. A Drachman replica of the original Cretan Lockheed AC-130U 'Spooky', given a little Drachman twist, rebuilt, repurposed and refitted by Karkov Arms to the Drachman Air Force's liking. 'The Buzzsaw', the Drachmans below affectionately - and colloquially - called it. The blonde madman gave it... a different moniker. Balthazar had been told that for this night, and this night only, the airborne tank was his and his alone to control - and it was only the first of a slew of surprises up his sleeve.

The smoke faded, dissipating into the cool night air, retaining that Xingese breeze no matter how many rounds and shells were pumped into it, no matter how much black powder and tension sat in the air - it was cold in Xing tonight. And it would be cold in Xing in the memory of this night for decades, maybe centuries to come. "Tartarus, it appears the outer gate is still standing," A crackled, distorted sigh hissed through Balthazar's earpiece. "Permission to give the Sekretar a little bang for her buck?"

A sick, deathly grin crept across Balthazar's face. A pair of pale grey eyes picked out Eris from the crowd, and from above his pedestal, his arm trembling from the weight of the support machine gun, a single eyelid flickered up and down in an overt wink. "Bring those doors down, Overlord," He whispered, his lips trembling with glee as he spoke. "Whatever it takes,"

The AC-130 operator was right - though carved solid and riddled with 25mm gatling rounds, the gates still stood. Impressive Xingese craftsmanship indeed - but Balthazar knew as well as everyone else that the gates were on their last legs. The grin only widened further as the man's deranged shouts continued. "AND THE SKY..." He had... all night... so...

Why not make an entrance?

A click as the Bofors 40mm autocannon slid into lock on the jet itself. The gunners aboard the plane picked out the target, and hissed through a warning of danger close once more relayed to Balthazar; it became indistinct hissing, ambient crackles in his aural cavities. It didn't matter. He didn't care. The gunners aboard the plane looked at each other, shrugged... and pulled the trigger. "THE SKY IS FUCKING ANGRY,"

The whistle of the 40mm shell was enough to herald its damage alone, but when it made contact, it split the night apart with an explosion, cascading waves of flame and force, knocking a good half of the RIOTE troops alone to the floor. It was only the thrumming energy of the Philosopher's Stone at his core that kept Balthazar standing, clutching an M60 and pointing it to the sky, steady as ever - that, coupled with his stalwart, corrupted, misguided resolve. The smog of cordite stung his eyes and formed a single black, cloudy droplet at the corner of his tearduct, trickling quickly down his face to leave a stream of grit and soot from the explosion itself.

The RIOTE troops hadn't been hurt - every single one knocked down got up again, looking up to the madman with glee and adoration. And from the pit of his stomach, the bottom of his belly, despite his throat feeling as if it had been fed through a paper shredder, Balthazar summoned the most impressive bellow yet. "URAAAAAAAAA!" The echo hung upon the still Xingese night as the men in the courtyard readied their weapons. "ADVANCE, COMRADES! TAKE THE COURTYARD FOR MOTHER DRACHMA!"

The RIOTE troops rushed past him, clicking their PP-19 sub-machine guns and AK-102 rifles into gear, easing back the hammers, and flicking off the safety. He stood, a steady pillar between the gushing waves of black uniforms and polished plywood parts, the M60 in his arm finally falling to become cradled in a fist which flattened itself out just in time. With that, before turning on his heel, as the last of his acolytes and servants flooded in, gazing out at Ogihci and Eris, and rushing into the fray to join the battle at the very epicentre of it all, Balthazar released one, final shout.

"ADVAAAAANCE!"

[Okay. First turn's elapsed. Anyone on the attacking side, regardless of whether they're Aerugese or Drachman, can now post in whichever order you guys see fit. Ace will always begin the defending turns, and I will always begin the attacking turns as Balthazar, but other than that, relative free-for-all.]

"Just... just sit tight for now, little one,"

It wasn't exactly what the girl wanted to hear, but hearing from him at all was good. Therefore the orders were good. The green haired woman was too enchanted by the reuniting that she didn't have time to say anything before Balthazar was carrying out a motivational speech...of sorts. Xing was the enemy. Drachma was the friend. Anybody that isn't RIOTE deserves to die, at least in this battle. This was all she needed to know.

"HERE... HERE, WE PUSH THOSE SLANT-EYED PIG FUCKERS BACK INSIDE THEIR FORTRESS,"

It just now occurred to Eris that people from Xing and people from Aerugo looked a lot a like. They would be hard to tell apart if both forces were somehow in the same place. Oh well. Accidents happen. While thinking, she was using her enhanced eyesight to try to pick out any hidden snipers or anything that might of been missed by a normal eye. It looked fairly clear.

"THE SKY IS FUCKING ANGRY,"

Wait, what? What did that mean? She was too lost in her thoughts along with scanning the area. "Balthazar what the fuck are you talk-" She was cut off when a huge explosion blew down the doors that were barely standing and knocked down a good portion of the RIOTE troops. In a quick response to a potentially deadly threat, her chimera transformation was triggered. An extremely durable exoskeleton grew over her right arm, her torso, her shins, and finally covered her face (save for her eyes). She covered her face with her right arm to try and avoid getting the dust in her eyes. Thanks to her transformation, Eris was not knocked off her feet.

"Hey! Warn me next time!" The madman's sister shouted, retracting her exoskeleton armor back into her skin just as fast as it came out. The armor ripped the shins of her pants and her white shirt, loosed her boots, and unzipped her flak jacket, which she quickly zipped back up to avoid exposure. It didn't appear that her brother had heard her, as he continued his speech as the RIOTE troops got back on their feet.

"ADVANCE, COMRADES! TAKE THE COURTYARD FOR MOTHER DRACHMA!"

Balthazar yelled before the troops rushed into the palace. He only glanced at her before rushing inside himself, joining the core of the battle. It took Eris a while to realize the other man's presence, an older man. She turned to him quickly as she took out her swords that she had dubbed Addiction and Obsession. "I failed to catch your name, but nice to meet you. I'm Eris. Well, see you later!" The introduction was very hasty and unorthodox. The green eyed girl proceeded to run in after the troops and her brother, with both of her close combat swords ready to chop somebody's limb off.

"HOPE YOUR SHIT COUNTRY HAS MEDICAL INSURANCE" She yelled out in extremely broken Xingese before charging in with the rest.

(Sorry for the last minute join >.<;)

Somewehere in the city - Yuuko, Tas, Shizuka
Xi'an, Xing
April XX, 2012

A long and slow drag came from Ran's lips. Smoke the color of a winter's snow that billowed slowly from his mouth, twisted and twirled sickly on the once-clean air in Xingese area. His eyes showed amusement while he took in another breath full of pesticides, not that he cared. It smelled and tasted of mint, so he wasn't too worried about what was going on. The red orbs that possessed an interest lazed over the city. He was supposed to be helping take over the place.

The Empress would probably be mad at him. He said he had things to tend to and wouldn't help the attack, but now, he was there, standing. She was probably onto his game, all along, but that was fine too. Ran was the type to be a bit lazy until he realized, not coming would be a scene almost determined to end in death. he kind of liked living, so he had made his way to Xing. Where exactly he was, he hadn't a fucking clue. All the buildings looked the same. Exactly the fucking same. How irritating. His breath sniffed while he flicked the menthol cigarette away and smashed it angrily into the ground. It was ground in angrily while he proceeded through the streets.

There was some chaos, so he assumed he was going the right way. His hand tugged out a radio transmitter he had luckily grabbed from table when they had a meeting earlier. A soft groan while he rubbed the back of his neck. He wasn't going to hear the end of this, but he couldn't let his little brother go into this war alone. That was just cold hearted. He had to protect Tas! Speaking of which, he could hear a distant boom of a grenade. Seemed the battle had started. He was filled with concern and his legs kicked in gear. "Tas!" He shouted, his legs leading him. How did he know where his brother was? He had found him in the distance.

The man rushed towards his brother, "Soldier, what are you doing here?" A man seemed to ask in a rather commanding tone. "Eh. I decided to come, after all." "Well the, get back to your spot."

That made Ran think a moment and give a cheesy smile, "You see, I don't have one yet, so move out of my way until then." His hands focused on the bouquet in his hand and the thorny bunch had become a small knife, half a foot in length. The thick blade was held tight in hand the color a sick sea green in color. His eyes rose in an unfriendly manner to the man, but no intent to attack. "Kindly move, I wish to talk to officer Akiyama." His eyes bore with a glare, but the men stood aside. though it was the heat of battle and Tas was dumber than a bowl of soup, Ran knew he had to say something to his dumb brother.

Swiftly, he ran up to Tas and sliced down a man whom threatened his brother, before turning back to him. his poor brother looked on the borderline of crying. This wasn't where Tas was meant to be. Sympathy splashed on Ran's face as he found himself by his brother's side. A comforting hand on his shoulder while he leaned in and whispered to him. "Look. Keep it together, okay? I need to bring you home in one piece." His words were quick as he helped his brother fight a few minutes, before snatching his brother's talkie. With a click, it turned on.

"Eh.. yeah, sorry I'm a bit late. Akiyama, Ran, reporting for duty. What did you want me to do, boss?" He wasn't sure WHO was running the mission, but he just let them click through before he got his answer. While he waited, he was both mentally and physically supporting his brother. It seemed when things boiled down to it, Ran was there when needed.

MISSION: World War III: Peace and the Pestilence of RIOTE {3} Empty Re: MISSION: World War III: Peace and the Pestilence of RIOTE {3}

Somewhere in the city - Ran, Tas
Xi'an, Xing
April XX, 2012

It did not take long for the set of soldiers, men and women alike, to wrap up this surprising precision strike. After all, that is what they were used to be doing. Perfect vital strikes, unexpected, efficient and without survivors or witnesses. As such, a few xingese door- and securityguards were a task to be taken on easily. A bit of canned smoke here, a few precision shots there and mercilessly, the whole building interior had become a bloody mess. While they had been busy, trough their own communications, the team could hear events proceeding further: The final troops getting in position and ready, helicopter drones being deployed -this being probably their first actual use in real situations, being a rather fresh development from the covert ops workshops-, their part-time partners charging in headfirst. "How very not subtle and expectedly stupid." the aerugese lead thought, listening to the progression of events, while her group had split between securing the location and taking out the long- and midterm- communications - which was just then apparently done.
Now, the only not locally limited transmissions belonged to communication pieces owned by aerugese countrymen and some of their allies. Which in turn meant, they were now ready to begin, regardless of their allies' rushed charge.

And that was just when the radio came on for another transmission. "Eh.. yeah, sorry I'm a bit late. Akiyama, Ran, reporting for duty. What did you want me to do, boss?" Whatever kind of tone was this for a situation like right now, with so many critical strikes being handled, people's lives on the line and everything. For a brief moment, Yuuko had to think, she had heard this name before. Sometime, somewhere, maybe not too long ago? AH, yes yes. Akiyama. Probably related to this very one? Probably. Under normal circumstances, a tardiness of this scale would have had the empress harangue endlessly, but right now, she had to put these thoughts aside. "Soldier, you will be pleased to hear this. Go and help out your brother with the gates, the more people that position has, the better. Take out all individuals who cannot identify themselves as our kind and desire to pass." While she did not actively remember either of the two, nor them being connected, she had just decided they were indeed brothers and acted accordingly.

MISSION: World War III: Peace and the Pestilence of RIOTE {3} Empty Within the city of Xi'an. Shizuka---->Villetta.

Post by Guest Sat Jun 02, 2012 9:28 am

Xi'an, Xing
April XX, 2012
The battle of the jade.

Shizuka heard Taka replying proposing a grand munching of ramen bowels, why not? "From Suzaku to Taka. Of course, I would be pleased to. Suzaku out" she said while having thoughts of bringing 'Geisha's to this certain meeting and tease that lad Akiyama to no ends. Nothing was better than mischief than mischief.

However this shall come later. By then, they were at war with Xing. Her ears waited for the reports of how would the Xingese react as her alkahestric abilities kicked in feeling the battlegrounds, She could tell how their Aerugese soldiers were extremely motivated and reassured of victory and how the Xingese cowered in fear seeking sanctuary in their fortress full of jade. But within the palace, there was a calm soul unlike the spirits around crying in fear and anguish, which sounded extremely suspicious. For some seconds, it disappeared to reappear again out of the palace.

Shizuka gozen continued tracing this entity from afar but there was some business that she needed to attend to. Reports, she received. Her eyes widened in disbelief, for she didn't expect this. The emperor abandoned his people opting to fight within his fortress, not fighting back to reclaim what supposed to be his own like a true monarch. This was a corrupt regime, a cancer that should to be rid off and removed. The empress had done good choosing Xing to colonize, for those who lied within this palace of jade were nothing but betrayers to their people hopes. But the report entailed much more, the palace was surrounded by about one hundred fifty feet walls, up above were the sentries who were supposed to fend off the inevitable invasion. However, their equipment was poorly chosen and they were outfitted not accordingly to their purpose. Snipers dressed in Xerxian jade armors stripping away the most important feature for snipers that is maneuverability equipped with pretty old Drachman-Xingese modified sniper rifles and they didn't wear night vision goggles. How would they shoot in the dark?

And so, Shizuka the loyal servant of her highness the empress and the empire of Aerugo began to deliver their commands to cut off the electricity at certain Xngese districts and to her company to turn on their alternate vision mode to see their targets while their targets couldn't see them. The order was simple. Shoot those guards in the eyes in complete precision offered with their Aerugese high tech sniper rifles. Those guards would die standing in their place thanks to their heavy armor and that would certainly ensure n more reinforcements from the xingese side to the upper walls as the standing bodies would leave no space to stand on.

Her other command came in response to the letdown from the Xingese side who chose their own safety over their own subjects. She commanded her Ishhin-shishi units to evacuate Xingese citizenry within Xi'an to safety outside where shelters were provided. Such actions would fuel the rebellion as many of them Xingese would join the yellow turbans movement. Indeed, the Xingese populace in proper time would see the Aerugese as their great benefactors.

The first and second batch of yellow turbans was ready thanks to the xingese government not responding. Shizuka sent one batch to Taka as reinforcements while the other one was assisting the Ishin-shishi evacuating the populace and equipping more to join their cause.

Leaving behind her company killing the sitting ducks on those walls. There was this entity that she needed to deal with. So, she would go in all secrecy after consulting the unmanned drone in the sky. Shizuka was able to pinpoint where her target was. Being a Shiranui concealed her from others to see and the shinshinichinyo gave her the advantage to locate her adversaries. Running softly and carrying a big gun, she found her way and saw her target from afar. Shizuka was hidden, prepared her Tenchu and locked at her target's heart and pulled the trigger. Not knowing that the one she was targeting was supposed to be the Shateigashira of the Yakuza.

Now, why the hell the Rounian was helping the Xingese? But it didn't matter, those who opposed the empire shall perish. However, if lady death survived and decided to think smart, wouldn't it be more clever to abandon a lost cause. Why ally yourself with the setting old sun while the new red sun was at the peak of it's dawn. Whatever the other side was providing her with, The Aerugese government would provide ten hundred times more. If it was alkahestry she was seeking, then alkahestry she would get.

But the situation remained as it was, a bullet fired and it shall not rest until it passes through flesh and bones.
